Rainbow Lake(#2713RJ)
Long and narrow, the lake stretches a mile to the north and south, right at the heart of the woodland. Tall, silver beech trunks mix with the even taller evergreens and dominate the mountain valley. Where the canopy has been broken by a fallen tree, a riot of brambles and nettles have erupted, clinging to anything and everything and fighting for light among the thick forest. Underfoot there is a deep bed of mulch and last year's leaves, muffling any footfall.
Other plants have found a foothold where the beeches make way for the line of water. The edges of the lake are overhung by a wall of dark myrtle, their scent hanging sweet and heavy in the air, giving the place a dreamlike quality. The waters of the lake itself are a clear, unruffled indigo, dropping into bottomless darkness, with otherworldly reflections of the sky floating above the depths. Rainbow flashes of light play about the reeds and weeds that break the surface here and there, throwing colors into the air.
Part of the valley around the lakeside to the south is clear of trees, and often here in the brush and grass a small herd of three woods buffalo can be seen.

You paged the room with 'Assuming Anneka and Yi have been here for awhile.. eh, she should be swimming. Give her a few mins. :D'.

Little Bear sits on a low-lying branch of one of the trees overlooking the clearing where the buffalo roam, watching them.

Towel wrapped around her neck, Yi in a black bathing suit sits along the bank of the lake near a small group of rocks, watching Anneka swim around in the lake. Her eyes travel back to Little Bear.

Like an arrow shot from a bow, Flamecaller breaks from a stand of beech and pine not far from the lake's shore and charges full-tilt toward the water. He conducts a lupine long-jump, leaping from a fallen log and catapulting himself out over the water. The splash is reminiscent of a public-pool cannonball, and when he surfaces, he paddles in straight line for shore.

The cub's in a green swimsuit, sandy hair streaming down in waterlogged curls that almost reach her shoulders when she's not submerged. Right now, she's treading water a fair way from the lake's edge, looking back at Yi and grinning. She blinks, laughing when the wolf leaps into the water. "Wow!"

Yi laughs as Flamecaller splashes in, turning her head momentarily as water droplets fly in her direction. "And the judges say... 8 points for the wolf. Entry was excellent, but the water wasn't as giving in its display," comments the newmoon as she wipes off her cheek. "I thought the weather would never get warm."

Leonard glances over at the water at the splash, watching the others play. His hands work in such a way that leads you to believe he's carving something.

Currently the moon is in the waxing No Moon phase (18% full).

Flamecaller bounds over toward Leonard's perch in the branches of his tree, front paws planted high on the trunk before he half-howls playfully and shakes as much water as he can from his coat onto the Wendigo. What's up?

Leonard squints, holding one arm up to block the spray. "Yi's leaving."

Pack- Yi sends the hasty thought that she isn't leaving yet. I have plans, but I'm not leaving anytime soon, Mr. Little Bear.

Anneka sinks down below the water's surface, a pale, wavery dot before she rises again and kicks her way towards that very tempting log. She shivers faintly when she pulls herself into shore, but only for a moment. "Me neither." She glances at the log, sizing it up, then walks out along it. Her feet slap lightly against the wood, toes splaying out to keep the cub afoot. There's a glance to Yi, and then she's racing out along the log, her body tracing out the crescent of a shallow dive as she draws her hands out in front of her. There's a faint splash, a spray of water, and then the cub's darting out towards the lake's center, just beneath the surface.

Yi looks back towards her two packmates briefly, then returns to watching the cub. "I'm not yet," she adds to their conversation with a short sigh. "Not yet." She stands, stripping off her blue towel from around her, and jumps into the water with a shallow dive. After a few moments her head reappears out of the water and she glances around for Anneka.

So where's she going? Flamecaller wants to know, his gaze going out to the two heads bobbing in the water as he pads a tight circle and then sits to scratch an itch on his flank.

Anneka surfaces soon enough, kicking herself along underwater for a few moments before stopping to tread water. She's grinning like a crazy person, looking around for someone-- then beams when she catches sight of Yi. "The lake is way cool, Yi."

Leonard shaves a sliver of wood off the hunk in his hand, leg swinging idly. "Home. Back to her island."

Yi lets her body float, relaxing her muscles in the water. She smiles over at Anneka. "I'm glad you like it. It's beautiful, na?" she murmurs, looking up at the sky above. Then the newmoon dives under and kicks out to grab Anneka's leg under the water. Anneka's leg, pale and skinny is pretty easy to see and catch, beneath the water's surface. The cub yelps, once, and starts laughing. "Hey!"

Yi pops up behind Anneka and splashes her with lakewater. "Gotcha!" she laughs, and quickly makes for a spot away from her. Swim Yi Swim!

Anneka laughs as she's doused, spluttering, and reaches up to push her hair out of her eyes. There's an impish gleam in them, caught for a moment before the cub ducks down underwater, far enough that she's just a dim, pale spot, then kicks out after Yi, quick as an otter.

Yi checks behind her to look and see if Anneka is following her, then when she doesn't see her she looks down. Not that she can see anything beyond a meter or so. Yi ducks her head under the water and looks around.

Leonard glances down at the dozing Flamecaller, shaking his head. He strips another shaving of wood from the work-in-progress and glances over to the lake, frowning. He looks over to the buffalo, but they've disappeared further into the woods.

The cub is grinning as she darts towards Yi, drawing into view as she reaches for the Canto-Gnawer's legs!

Yi gawks but it's lost as a stream of airbubbles as she grins underwater at Anneka and tries to push her away. Like two otters playing in the water, they tumble and dive at each other under the surface until soon Yi pops her head back out to breathe.

Silvery bubbles trail about the cub's head as she rights herself, then slowly floats to the surface. It isn't long before the cub's drifting nearby, on her back, looking up at the new moon. She giggles faintly and blinks droplets of water away from her eyes, glances over to Yi. "Wuf."

Yi flicks some water on Anneka as she floats by. "You silly Otter," she smiles with the tip of her tongue sticking out playfully. Then without warning she reaches over and grabs the cub around the waist and pulls her under again.

Along the western shore, from the north, Joseph's figure can be seen making his way toward where the group normally congregates. Robin walks beside him, their pace unhurried but steady. Lifting a hand, he calls over the distance when he sees the Gnawers playing in the water.

Leonard glances over at the sound of his elder's voice, spying two figures walking. He pulls himself up to a standing position on his branch, squinting.

Anneka's eyes get huge as she's drawn under water, and she takes what breath she can before vanishing beneath the silvery surface. Bubbles escape with her laughter as she squirms about, nimble fingers reaching out to tickle Yi's sides. Like her namesake, she's squirmy as anything underwater.

Trails of bubbles tell of what squirming is going on underwater and finally Yi concedes to let go and return surface wise. She busts out laughing as she looks down and around her, then back up at Joseph and Robin. A hand comes up to wave. "Hey!"

Anneka splashes to the surface nearby, spluttering and giggling. "I got water in my nose--" she says, squinting, then looks over towards Joseph and Robin, following Yi's eyes.

It's not too difficult to tell, for those who didn't know, that the Lakota woman walking alongside Joseph is with him, in more than the simple pejorative sense. It is also quite apparent that Robin is visibly pregnant. She wears soft, brown cotton pants that rest low around her hips and a loose, white tank top that doesn't quite cover the dusky expanse of skin of her gracefully rounded stomach. Over that flutters an unbuttoned, sleeves-rolled-up plaid flannel shirt that appears to be lined so that it works well as a light jacket against the chilly spring breeze. Now and then as they walk, Robin will glance up at Joseph, murmuring something to him with a characterstic upward tip of her chin that would look antagonistic were it not for the more difficult to discern warmth in her eyes. When Joseph hails those down by the water, Robin turns her gaze to them, measuring who and what she can from the distance.

Leonard's face splits into a grin and he jumps from the tree, leaving his carving at its base he lopes up to meet Joseph and Robin halfway.

Yi giggles and treads water beside Anneka a little deeper from the shore. She tells Anneka, "That's Joseph Soulcatcher. I'm sure that the woman beside him is Robin Light Feather, a kinfolk. and Soulcatcher's mate. Come on, let's go meet them." She swirls in a short circle around the cub and then breaks for shore. "Race you!"

Joseph measures his steps to keep pace with Robin, letting Leonard amd the others come more than halfway to meet them. His casual nods to her words are easy and speak of an ease between them, though he does not smile until Leonard is close enough to run them down. "Easy, Enapay."

Leonard fairly skids to a stop, taking in Robin's belly with an astonished half-smile. "I didn't know you were so big already!"

The cub needs no encouragement and takes a breath before sculling out along the water's surface after Yi. Slow at first, slow enough, but picking the pace up quick and quicker, arms and legs drawing her skinny body through the water.

Yi pulls head to head with the cub, but slows eventually and lets her climb out of the water first. The nomoon follows, dripping from hair and body as she reaches for her blue towel and hands the green one to Anneka. Her hair gets a vigorous shake and sends water flying with a laugh before she waves to the trio again. "You and your baby are looking well, Robin!"

Robin stops as Leonard nears and smiles a little at him. Joseph's use of her name for the other Wendigo does give the kinswoman pause for a moment before she looks back to Leo. "I have always been so big," she answers, like only the mate of a theurge can, teasing and chiding Leonard all at once. Her gaze flickers past Leonard for a moment to the pair in the water before she looks back to him. "I have not missed your blanket, Enapay, but I have missed your warmth." she murmurs low.

Joseph continues forward until the Gnawers reach them, and he offers Yi the same warm smile he gave Leonard. Her friend garners a more curious look.

There's a splash some distance out on the lake, widening ripples, enough to show over the soft dapples of silvery gray catching the last gleam of sunset.

Leonard grins at Robin's words, pleased and embarrassed. "I've seen you a few times, but you haven't seen me. I was watching your house until they took care of that problem for you." He turns at Joseph's expression, watching Yi and the other strange girl approach. "Do you need anything?"

Anneka laughs as she catches droplets of water, and shakes her hair as well, though the towel's what eventually turns it into a curly, tangled, and very damp mane again. She drapes the towel about her shoulders and grins at Yi. "Thanks." Then she's looking to Joseph and the others, her smile something that shows more in the way she's walking, in her bright eyes, than in the human fashion. "Hi. I'm Anneka. Half-moon, Bone Gnawer and Cub," she says, when she's near enough.

Robin's dark eyes hold a disparate warmth that eases to something more neutral when she looks from Leonard to the others. Yi's greeting tips the corners of her lips upward and she dips her chin in response. "Like water." Then on the heels of those words, "Where is Sepdet?" After a flickered look from one packmate to the next, Robin quiets to listen to Anneka's greeting.

Yi smiles at the kin and dips her head. To Joseph, she motions, "This is the cub I asked you about, if I could take her here. I don't think the buffalo have minded much." She grins wryly and then turns her head at the sound of more splashing in the water. "That might be Sepdet," she notes softly.

Joseph's eyes are already searching beyond the group and somehow compliment Robin's question; the Wendigo searches for his alpha as he answers Anneka, only coming back to look at her when a quick overview of the lake is finished. "I am Joseph Black Rabbit, once called He Catches the Soul, but now known as Two Souls. Crescent of the Wendigo." A pause, and he adds as he takes Robin's hand in his, "And this Light Feather Chases. Kin, and mate."

At Yi's words a dark head pops out of the widening ripples and starts bobbing to shore; the seaweed tangle of black hair shows her guess is correct.

Leonard pages to the room: Up from the depths, thirty stories high, breathes fire, stands in the sky! SEPZILLA! SEPZILLA! And Yizooki!

Anneka dips her head as well, after a glance to Yi, her voice quieting. "The lake is very cool." She looks to Joseph, though her eyes, in the lupine fashion, do not quite meet his own. "Thank you for letting me come here." She glances back over her shoulder at the lake and smiles a bit more. "I think I saw the buffalo. They're real big."

Not so perceptive as the packmates are in regard to their alpha, Robin is still considering Anneka when nearly everyone else has turned to look at the lake. Her gaze skips like a stone over to the lake's surface and she catches her breath. Lifting Joseph's knuckles to her lips, Robin exchanges a look with the Wendigo before moving away from the others and picking her way down toward the water's edge.

Leonard watches after Robin with concern, but introduces himself to the cub. "I'm Little Bear, talesinger and cliath of the Wendigo."

Yi adds, "And the only Wendigo and packmate insane enough to take Rotem for a brief time to train him." Her grin is about as impish as Anneka's.

Sepdet takes some while to come to land, then scrabbles up on hands and knees in the shallows. She flings her hair back and grins up at Robin, eyes still holding a hint of the umbra's shine. "Satshu't."

[And cause of stupid DSL companies that like to cut connections at the most inconvenient of times, assume Yi went walkin' or something. It's a New moon phase. She's mercurial like dat.]
