Walker Safe House - Lobby(#2832RAJL)
This small tenement building is a work that any interior decorator would be proud of. The building is somehow filled with light and space, despite the fact that the room is far from large. Mirrored surfaces and lush green potted plants are much in evidence - jarring only slightly with the video cameras that perch unobtrusively in various locations. A small sign on the wall lists the number of apartments upstairs as eight, though there are no names next to the apartment numbers. A very thick door leads downstairs, with no visible method of being opened - except a keypad next to it. A monitor is perched above the entrance, showing images from the hidden camera that watches the outside of the building.
The lobby branches off into what appears to be a small recreation room; for use only by residents and their guests.

Yi just got into the safehouse not a few minutes ago, and quick conversation, along with checking on Kaz and Alicia, reveals information to some relief. Now the others have gone off to continue rounding up people, Yi's left to stay in the safehouse, where she unpacks most of the more vital stuff in her bag.

At first glance the bundle of heavy cloth in a corner may be something someone has left behind. But the tip of a blocky shoe sticks out from under it, a few strands of dirty, sandy hair. And since it's unusual for bundles of stuff to move on their own, this is probably Anneka. The girl wakes up, uncurling, looks about with green, bleary eyes. She yawns, blinks, then runs towards Yi, arms out. "Yi!"

Yi, startled, defense postures reflexively in the direction of the sound. But the halfmoon coming towards her is a very welcome sight, and she drops the knife that was coming to her palm to stand and embrace the younger cliath. "Anneka! You're ok, and you're here!" Yi looks at the corner the girl had been sleeping in. No wonder she missed it. "Been busy haven't you? Did you reach everyone you wanted to?"

Anneka leaps into a very tight hug. She smells like something's burning, like she hasn't bathed in days. She's quiet for a long time, eyes shut tight, then opens them, a wolf looking out through a human mask. She shakes her head. "Not 'nough Gnawers, yet. I was lookin' for you." She takes a breath. "Have you seen Sepdet 'n Leo?"

"I was at the bluff. Sepdet's safe, but hiding with the pathstone somewhere that even Leonard and I don't know. He's still at the bluff, making sure Duane and the others are there and safe. Hiding stuff from the Wendigo cave." Yi runs a hand through the halfmoon's hair and takes a good look at her. "You look like you could use a shower. All the cubs are ok, I take it?"

Joy, quick and fiery is apparent in the wiry kid's eyes. "They're okay, good. My questin' shell couldn't find Sepdet, I--" She takes a breath, draws her mouth into a line. "We got almost everyone from th'farmhouse, 'cept for Geoffrey. I don't know him, but he wouldn't go with us, went out on his own." She pulls back, looks around at the room about her. "All of our cubs're here, Cameron, Rheen, Peggy, Tobin 'n Aubrey. Signe's comin'. I found Kaz 'n Elan already."

Yi glances in the direction of the stairs, and nods with a sigh. "Sepdet... can't talk to the pack either. Leonard and I will find her somehow, but after we make sure everything will be ok here. She's adren. She's tough." Mention Signe, and the Gnawer arches a brow. Real disaster brings out the best. "Kaz has gotten in touch with the elders. Robert-rhya is ok, and so is Patrick-rhya. Andrea's still around." The nomoon blinks. "Did you see them? The Dancers... I mean?"

Anneka shakes her head, twice. "I heard the howl out near th'farmhouse. I went there first." She cants her head. "How many--?"

Yi lowers her eyes. "I didn't even hear the howl. But Alicia heard we were clearly outmatched." She looks up again. "I wonder if that Talon can get the wolves to move."

Anneka lets her hands slip down to Yi's forearms, sets them there, green eyes watching the ragabash, wide and intent. "I'm goin' out 'gain, soon." She steps back, reaches up to run her hands through her filthy hair. "Kaz wanted me t'help clear stuff at th'Rialto, an' I haven't found Max or N'vada or Tim yet." She looks at the corner. "Sleepin'."

"Nevada's heard it. I think he went to the apartment when I was out and heard Alicia's message," Yi says quietly. "He's out to gather stuff. I'll go later to help out at the Rialto, if you like."

Anneka nods twice, quirks a corner of her mouth up in the faintest smile. "There's a lotta stuff to do at th'Rialto." She takes a deep breath, then starts patting about at her pockets. She tugs her crowbar from one, tucks it back in her coat, the hind end of a gun from another, tucks that away as well. A knife, mostly just a sharpened shard of metal. Giant coats can hide a lot. "Any plannin' for when we're gonna go back to th'woods?"

Yi shrugs, glancing at the knife with an eye for the edge. No doubt she has some of her own. "I don't know. We'll have to wait and see I guess, until the elders can get a message to us." The newmoon Gnawer furrows her brow. "I just hope they don't come up with the idea to use those sewers and bring the battle to the city."

"They're probably gonna," Anneka says. "We can't keep everyone here at once, or they'll do anythin' t'get us here." She tugs her coat around her, stuffs her hands on her pockets. "We just hafta keep people here long enough for stuff t'get planned."

Yi inhales deeply and sighs out frustration. "Is there anywhere else the cubs can go now? My place isn't secure enough. Now that the big dogs want the church and the Rialto cleaned out..." Yi closes her eyes, again feeling that wave of homelessness.

Anneka pulls her shoulders into a shrug, muffled through her coat. "Here's the safest for now." She hugs Yi again, quick and tight. "Later's later. Now's for keepin' people here, even if they don't want t'be."

When she opens her eyes again, Yi is resolute. Ready to defend. "Right. We'll get through this." She gathers up the halfmoon's hand into hers, clutching it and gazing at her tribemate. The defiant smile plays in her eyes though not quite on her face. "Go on to the Rialto. I have some things I need to take care of as well."

Anneka nods twice, squeezing the ragabash's hand tight, then darts towards the door. "I'll meet you back here!"
