Walker Safe House - Lobby(#2832RAJL)
This small tenement building is a work that any interior decorator would be proud of. The building is somehow filled with light and space, despite the fact that the room is far from large. Mirrored surfaces and lush green potted plants are much in evidence - jarring only slightly with the video cameras that perch unobtrusively in various locations. A small sign on the wall lists the number of apartments upstairs as eight, though there are no names next to the apartment numbers. A very thick door leads downstairs, with no visible method of being opened - except a keypad next to it. A monitor is perched above the entrance, showing images from the hidden camera that watches the outside of the building.
The lobby branches off into what appears to be a small recreation room; for use only by residents and their guests.

Rec Room Basement Stairway Out
Yi comes down from upstairs, cleaning a gleaming knife with a cotton cloth and checking its sharpness. The newmoon's thoughts are rather occupied.
After a good nap and a warm shower, Aubrey comes down the steps from upstairs sometime after Yi. For once her hair is tied back into a pony-tail. As she sees the Bone Gnawer claith, she nods her head slowly. "Hello," she says.
The Gaian is curled up on the couch, sleeping with a blanket pulled over her body. Her hair is tousled and flopped about her shoulders, in need of a good shower.
Yi's grip tightens and she turns, putting away the blade and gazing to the stranger. "Afternoon," she replies tersely, though once the on-edge tension gets stuffed back down in her head she nods in a slight bow of her head to the girl.
The noise of footsteps brings the Gnawer cub from the basement. She looks particularly scruffy- her clothes are the dirtiest they'd ever been. The Philodox looks around with sad hazel eyes- which settle on the Chinese woman. Lyra blinks in shock.
Yi's distraction widens when Aubrey goes back upstairs momentarily, and footsteps sound from the basement. And once eyes meet, Yi echoes the shock.
(look Lyra)
Lyra(#2808PVc)
Dark black hair falls in layers around Lyra's chin, brushing her shoulders. Slanted hazel eyes stare out brightly from high cheekbones in her pale face, reminding you constantly of her Chinese heritage. She obviously takes after that parent, but for her eyes she's a slim 5' 3", thin fingers and tiny feet. She doesn't look very strong- she isn't -but she has an athletic look about her, a toned body rather than a muscular one. She wears a white hooded sweatshirt, with the zipper open, and dark blue jeans that Anneka had brought for her. Her clothes are decidedly dirty, and there are dried bloodstains on the hood. Her pink/red sneakers are still there, although rattier than when they first appeared. Her posture is slightly stooped, as if a great worry rested on her shoulders.
Lyra's surprise, and momentary hope, is short-lived. It's not her aunt, but a total stranger. Biting her lip, the cub stuffs her disappointment in line with all her other troubles. Still, a Chinese woman..."Ni...ni hao?" she says, timidly.
Whatever dim thoughts Yi had been entertaining are now expelled with a smile. The newmoon bows her head a bit lower this time, before looking up and answering in an equally fluent sounding, "
Since all the Gnawer cubs were instructed to stay at the Safe House, Renee took up residence in the basement. Thats where she emerges from now, the heavy door closing behind her with a *tunk*.
Alicia continues to sleep on the couch, shifting a bit at the voices, but otherwise, not moving much.
Yi momentarily looks behind Lyra to see the other Gnawer cub emerge from the basement as well. Good, another one accounted for. "Afternoon Renee," Yi greets while still keeping her eye and a smile on the other cub.
"Hey, Yi," Renee rumbles. "Glad ta see that you're all right."
The video monitor by the door is stirred with images. A white-haired gentleman looms into view, sharply dressed, his thinly-gloved hands clenched once. His eyes appear to study the door a moment, before the intercom is buzzed. "Good afternoon," a thick voice murmurs. "My name is Mr. Will Right, here to see a Mr. Smith?"
Renee looks over at the video monitor, then ambles toward the front door. Unlocking it, she lets Wilbur in. "He ain't here right now," the grubby kid rumbles. "Come on in. We're all fucked as of right now, anyway."
Aubrey had to run upstairs again before she finally makes her way back round to ground-level of the Safehouse. She pulls at her pony-tail for a moment before she survays the all those in the room.
Lyra looks at Renee, then to Yi, then to the incomer, then Aubrey, and then back at Yi. She's beginning to look like a very lost puppy. And she's still staring at Yi.
Alicia stirs and slowly pushes herself up at the sound of the buzzer, then starts to ruffle her hair back in place. Groggily, she murmurs. "Hey.. let 'em in... 's'ah'Silver Fang... "
Yi turns momentarily towards the door and monitor, before brow-furrowing at Renee. "Next time, don't be so quick to answer the door. Never know what is out there now." She looks up towards Wilbur, quick-blinks at Alicia, and pushes that recently cleaned knife back into its hiding place somewhere along her jacket sleeve. Then she again turns back to Lyra. A brow arches. The newmoon walks over and waves a hand in front of the cub's face. "Hello? Moshi moshi? {Yo ren tsai ma?} (Anyone home?)"
Aubrey looks to the door, seeing Wilbur. "Hey Wilbur, Rhya!" she says rather excitedly. She pushed a lost bang from her eyes as she brushed it behind her ear.
Lyra blinks, reddening a little, and casts her eyes to the floor. "(I am sorry, miss,)" she stammers. "(Your presence startled me. You look...very familiar.)"
Wilbur steps in, his white-haired head tipped to one side. His hands are clasped before him, fingers closed around cufflinks. He wears a charcoal suit, a crisp white dress shirt, red tie with gold stickpin, and a deep, furrowing frown. "Ladies," he greets, passing a look over the room. "I have just heard, I-- " He trails off, noticing Aubrey. White brows raise, and he motions the girl over.
(Look Wilbur)
Renee looks over her shoulder at Yi and scowls, voice now edged with a growl. "I know him for fucks sake. Look at the video monitor and use your eyes."
Yi almost is about to introduce herself before she turns on Renee. "You might know him, but I don't, cub. There is a certain caution to be exercised when granting people entry here. You don't know what may have followed him here. So think about that." Yi breathes in deeply to calm herself, and turns so she can face both Wilbur and Lyra. "Yi. Three-Blades, newmoon Gnawer and daughter of Salmon's Leap."
Aubrey isn't hesitant as she makes a bee-line across the room towards the towering Silver Fang. She looks up at him, seeming to be daunted by is height. Her eyelids blink slowly before she replies to him, "Yes?" She dips her hands into her deep pockets. Her clothes seem old and tattered now but there is not much that she can do about it.
Alicia heads over to the group sluggishly, leaving the blanket on the couch. Rubbing ehr eyes a bit, she lets out a loud yawn. "Glad you got my message, Wilbur. Got th'cubs 'ere ta'safety."
Renee's teeth clench together and there is almost an audible grinding noise, as the cub's jaw works.
Wilbur closes a hand on the girl's shoulder, laying down a squeeze. "I am glad you are all right, little miss," he says, lifting a smudge off her cheek with his expensive sleeve before his eyes seek out Yi. "Ma'am." He nods to her. "I am Wilbur Right, of the Decatur Rights and Raleighs, Long-Last-Howl-in-the-Final-Hour, warrior and mentor of the first rank and First Tribe. Anruth in Chiminage as of yet to your Sept-- " A pause. "How many casualties?"
Renee walks over to Yi, stomping like a child on the verge of a temper tantrum. "Jus' cause I'm a cub, doesn't mean that I'm a fuckin' idiot. I was there. I saw the shit that went down an' I'm still breathing, so bugger off." With that, the cub turns around and stomps her way toward the basement, prying open the heavyy door and making her way downstairs.
A light blush rises in Aubrey's cheeks for a moment. "Thank you," she says, honored to hear that remark by the Silver Fang elder. "You should be proud of Tobin," she remarks, "He and I helped get the rest of the cubs to the farmhouse."
"Ah...Lyra, Four-Leaves, Philodox Gnawer Cub," Lyra replies softly, but stops midsentence at the word casualties. She watches unhappily as Renee goes down to the basement, and clenches her hands together. The girl looks like she's on the verge of tears.
"Only casualty was one of my cubs. Malachi." Alicia says as she shoves her hands deep into the pockets of her baggy jeans. "Other then that, everyone else is fine." Tilting her head some, she lifts her gaze up to look at the Fang.
"One... or more, I guess," Yi replies, gazing after Renee after Alicia's report. "I haven't heard the full story yet." Giving her knife-cleaning cloth a final glance before shoving it into her pocket, the Canto-Gnawer bobs her head towards the Silver Fang. "Then, Mr. Right," a pause before she can continue, "It's a pleasure to meet you, even in times like these. We will need all the warriors we can get." Moderated words, with a close examination of the ahroun. After a sort of self-approval, she glances over at Lyra hesitantly before shaking her head and deciding to move in the direction of the basment.
Another image shows on the monitor above the front door, that of a grim faced women in her 40s and clothed in a buisness suit. The woman doesn't bother with the buzzer, merely opens the door and steps inside. The silver-caped end of her cane tapping against the floor, as she steps inside.
Ms. Three-Blades is paid a nod. Wilbur's eyes follow the woman's cub into the basement, and then settle on Alicia. "I am truly sorry to hear that, Miss Jackson," he offers his condolences. "I dare say, it could have been worse."
Aubrey emits a light sigh as she stares off to another portion of the room. As the door clicks open, her eyes travel towards the one entering.
Lianne whacks her cane smartly against the floor, intent on attracting everyone's attention. The older woman carries herself with confidence, despite her small stature. This is something who is used to snapping her fingers and getting exactly what she wasnts, right this second, if not sooner. "Evening. My name is Lianne Whitehead, Glass Walker Kinfolk and owner of this building."
"Hey Li'." Alicia says, yawning again as she heads back to the couch. "Nice ta'meetcha. Ah'm Alicia, Tree Hugger, Galliard.. Cliath.. Tired.." And with that, she flops back down, pulling the blanket over her.
"Good evening," Will returns, his attention drawn by the cane, his eyes travelled to its tip. "Wilbur Right, Ahroun Cliathed to the Silver Fangs. Thank-you ma'am for keeping the children here."
Yi stops at the doorway to the basement, glancing over at the door and the kinfolk. Mr. Right. Ms. Whitehead. Interesting last names, to say the least. The Gnawer waits silently, expecting further statements.
Aubrey looks across to the kinfolk in authority. "Aubrey Bennett, Fianna cub. I -was- residing at the farmhouse..." The poor woman looks like a trapped wolf inside these confinded quarters already.
Lianne's lips thin. "Well met. As for allowing you to reside here, that was Mr. Smith's decision, not mine. I merely arranged for the building's construction. While you are staying here, I hope that you will keep all damages to a minimal level. If any of you feel the need to fight, or otherwise make a fair amount of noise, please use the basement. I designed it for that purpose." The woman pauses, tone changing a little so she doesn't sound quite so much like a drill seargent. "If there is any further lodging required, my home is available for use and I can arrange for hotel rooms if they are required."
Yi nods once in appreciation of the offer, though having not spoken much once the kin had arrived. Instead, she heads down to the basement to make truce with a certain cub she may have offended.
Basement(#2835RJ)
Lyra toddles after Renee, rubbing at her eyes with the back of her hand. Was she really so childish as to cry? Apparently so. "Hey," she says brightly, the cheeriness a bit too forced. "I wasn't aware there was another Chinese Gnawer."
Renee has curled herself up in a cement corner of the basement, knees hugged close to her chest and face burried in them. Looking up at Lyra, the Galliard's expression is blank. "Yea, there is," she rumbles. "Tribe is fuckin' everywhere, really."
The footsteps resolve into a quiet opening of the heavy basement door, a clunk for its closing, and a "Hey," issued from the newmoon cliath. Without waiting for acknowledgement, she continues on, "I'm sorry for up there. I did not mean to use rank as an excuse to scold." There's definite regret in that voice, as Yi makes her way down to the floor. "I was worried. Scared. Then again, everyone is now."
Lyra smiles, genuinely. Not that she'd ever tell Renee, but she found the younger girl's swearing habit rather endearing. She turns to face the Ragabash, and by the time Yi sees her face the smile is gone. "Did...did he say?" she asks softly. "Did he say how many people died?"
Anger flickers across Renee's face, but dies down, replaced by that neutral expression. Kid is just tired at this point, really. And scared. Fourteen-year-olds were never ment to deal with these kinds of situations. "Least I saved my stuff,"she rumbles, mostly to herself.
Yi tries bringing that smile back, even if it is a bit wry on her own sleepless features. "One. Alicia's cub, Malachi. I remember him being a very angry cub too... especially at the thought of being a Bone Gnawer. So the Children of Gaia took him in instead." The ragabash crosses over, weaving around the metal tubs, and squats down a short distance beside Renee. "I think there may be still a chance to clear out the farmhouse. My apartment is yet unknown too, so maybe it can be used for storage." She tries a brief chuckle. "Never thought you'd have to save the world one day, hm?"
Renee looks up at Yi, lips pulling back briefly in a silent snarl. "We're Garou, we were made to safe the fuckin' world. Right now, we're just trying to save are own asses."
Lyra nods, standing still as Yi moves behind her, to Renee. Her hands clench together tightly, trembling, as she tries to ignore the images parading in her mind. So the boy had died. "Weren't...weren't there more?" she stutters, turning around to face the cliath. "The...the Garou who attacked us. I saw one of them...die."
Well she certainly as spirit, Yi admits to herself bleakly. "Or save each other's," she adds, looking up at the other Gnawer cub. She closes her eyes briefly, letting go a sigh of resolve. "I don't know. But what attacked the caern, weren't Garou. Or at least, we shouldn't call them that anymore. They're Black Spiral Dancers." She doesn't bother restraining a following growl. "Followers of the Wyrm, destroyers of Gaia, and overall bastards." Oh yeah, she hates them alright. "You're both ok though, for now, and that is what currently matters." The newmoon glances again at the galliard cub, wishing somehow she could find some form of method to call a truce between them. "I didn't think there were many from the east here either. Have you lived in St. Claire, or just arrived?" Yi's eyes flow back to Lyra.
Renee burries her face back into her knees, falling silent.
As much as Lyra hated those people, the horrible people who killed Malachi, she was greatly disturbed by having witnessed death. Too much, too soon from the gang fight. She almost misses Yi's question. "No. I've lived in St. Claire for five years, with my," here she takes a deep breath. "My aunt Meiran." Lyra notices Renee's tired face and takes another deep breath, shifting into lupus. She pads over quickly to the Galliard. Need a pillow?
Yi hms quietly, glancing at both of the cubs before getting up to disappear briefly into the infirmary. Not wanting to disturb any of the possible occupants inside there, she moves as stealthily as possible in collecting a pillow, and a warm enough blanket. These she returns with, and stoops to offer to Renee. "Your aunt Meiran... I guess I didn't work long enough at the restaurant to see you or your aunt." Yi checks a glance to the other asian wolf. "She isn't kin, is she?"
Renee looks up from her knees and grunts. "Thanks." Taking the blanket and pillow, the girl begins to bed down on the cement floor. "I'll kill them, the basterds." The girl rumbles to herself, as she closes her eyes and covers herself with the blanked. "Tear their throats out...."
Auntie Mei owns the herbal medicine shop near the police station. The reddish cub lies down beside Renee, just in case Renee wants to squash her again. Goodnight, Sees-True-Nature. Four-Leaves looks up at Yi with wide green eyes. She was- is my kin, yes. My mother's elder sister. The cub misses any special meaning of the word 'kin'.
Yi continues her squat, comfortable like this. "She knows about you? I mean, as a Garou." Somewhere along the way, she's regained the faded, tired smile as she converses with the wolf.
Four-Leaves gives a soft, sad whine, and lays her head on her paws. I have not seen her for many days, since Bridge-Mender found me. Three nights ago...the cub trails off, surveying Yi, as if judging whether or not to continue. Three nights ago I left the farm, to check on her. But she has left the city.
Yi's brow squinches in thought. "Maybe for the better that she left before," she replies softly, a hand reaching over to scratch at the cub's ears. "Maybe when this whole thing is finished, we will go look for her. Perhaps, she returned back home?" The Gnawer's implied question hinting towards a farther off home, across a vast ocean.
The head lifts up, eyes flashing with excitement. Yi had just given her a bit of hope, where everyone else said it was 'just as well'. To Beijing? I had not thought of it. Perhaps...perhaps even England, my old home. She may think I have tried to return. Four-Leaves brushes her head against Yi's hand in happiness. It is very nice to think I may see her again. I had thought...thought she had given up on me.
Yi smiles a bit more, nodding. "Even if your life has to take a different path, there are ways to make your way back to meet with hers. Don't lose that hope, Lyra. It is one of the things that give us reason to keep fighting."
The cub wriggles her nose. Fighting. There has been much violence this week. Four-Leaves looks uncomfortable, and her ear twitches. Is it true? I heard Long-Past say that the Caern had fallen. Four-Leaves snaps at the air, biting at an invisible enemy. I do not like to think that those...Dancers...are in the wonderful Caern.
Yi shrugs one shoulder. "The caern is not in our hands now, but my pack alpha, Sepdet Hope-Star, has the heart of it. A stone, that is used to open up paths so we can fix the place up again." The CantoGnawer scruffs the wolf between the ears again. "No worries. From the stories I've heard about this place, the Garou always find a way to win it back."
Four-Leaves gives a large, toothy yawn, ending in a rather silly lupine smile. Good. Enough unhappiness this week. She lays her head down and slowly stretches out, the weariness of last night catching up to her in one swoop. I do not like fighting...but I will, if I have to. Pause. Will you teach me how to fight? It is the first time the pacifistic cub had asked for that lesson, from anyone.
Yi gives the cub one last pat before nodding. "Sure thing," she answers before standing up and heading back towards the lobby. "Get some sleep first, though."
Walker Safe House - Lobby(#2832RAJL)
Wilbur listens intently, watching Mr. Smith without eye contact. "I shall join patrol on this side and the other." He straightens. "As for weaponry.. I may help to provide financial aid."
Salem enters with heavy footfalls, shrugging out of his coat.
Alicia wakes up on the couch finally, and stretches herself out with a yawn, glancing about to everyone who is still here. Rubbing at her eyes, she sits up and leans back into the cushions. "Hey John.. Wilbur."
John gives a nod to his entering packmate. "Still no Elders have checked in," he grunts, by way of status report. "Any more family found on the streets?"
Salem returns John's nod curtly, dark lenses covering his eyes. "Everything quiet out there. _Too_ fucking quiet."
Yi creaks open the basement door and shuts it as quietly as she can, though her footfalls are heavier than usual. Upon seeing the occupants, she just nods to them all again.
Anneka glances over at her tribemate, drifts over to stand near her. The rat in one of her pockets pokes its head out, looks at Yi. Whiskers dance about, black beads of eyes blink once. "Hey," the sandy-haired kid says, quiet.
John sends a sideways glance to Yi, relaxing slightly at the sight of the girl. Relief, perhaps? He looks to Salem. "I still have a dozen more kin to visit," he rumbles. "Jessica's offered to house some of the smaller moons, in her apartment. Which is good. She can fit maybe four. I don't want to impose so far, though."
Salem nods. "Good. The less we're centralized, the better." He pauses. "Any further word about what's happening in the woods?"
"Lyra and Renee are resting. They're handling it pretty well," Yi notes to Anneka before putting in her share of information again. "Leonard's at the lake, waiting for any other signs from Sepdet-rhya. Duane is with him. Kaz said earlier that she'd gotten in touch with Patrick-rhya. I'd offer my apartment, but it is perhaps better used as storage if you have anything extra." For a moment, she wonders if John's seen the other asian girl in his basement.
Wilbur's eyes are drawn to Salem a moment, studying, something about him noted. His gaze is direct but not impolite. "Sir," he murmurs as his attention returns to the Walker Elder. "I should see to Falcon's Rest. Others of my tribe may be there. How may I contact you?" He produces a small ornate pen from an inner suit jacket pocket, and as well a business card.
Alicia shakes her head a bit. "I haven't heard anything, been sleeping, as you ordered." She grins faintly, stretching her body out a bit more.
Aubrey looks up as Wilbur mentions Falcon's Rest. "Tobin is there, right?" she asks. "May I come with you?"
Salem's lips twitch into a thin, harrassed-looking smile at Alicia. He goes to hang up his coat. "Good girl."
John shakes his head quickly. "And I'm still not letting anyone out there unless they're a scouting pack of four or more," he grunts to Salem, before studying Wilbur. "Here." He reaches into his jacket and tosses a little black book towards Wilbur. "I'm going to get copies made, of that, today. Take only the names from the front - the others are personal contacts. Everyone should get copies of these, and if they're not in there... add themselves. Time we got better connected."
Yi glances towards Anneka, hiding that possible guilt arising in her. "Has anyone gone to the Shadow to see how the city is now?"
Anneka nods twice, close enough to Yi for the rat to reach a paw out. It doesn't though, keeps to the shadows of the wiry young woman's pocket. "Good," she says, quiet. She shakes her head. "We should. John's been talkin' 'bout patrollin', in th'here and umbra both, I'd think."
"I think that'd be a good idea. Tho' its getting close to the new moon ya'know." Alicia says, pointing out.
Yi grins, a little too ferally, at Alicia. "Never stopped me before," she answers lowly.
John inclines his head in agreement. "You only ever travel in groups, understand? And only around this building, while the moon is small. Hell. If this many of us can't keep /this/ place safe in the umbra, we might as well all skip the country."
Salem folds his arms across his chest. "Someone should get word out to other Septs, also." The Walker's voice is deadpan.
John grunts, "Done. Rina's got family in Chicago with connections. We're hoping the word'll spread, but as always, if you know folks... use your initiative."
Aiyana emerges from upstairs, yawning a little and stretching her arms above her head. She staggers into the main room, blinking, tilting her head at the amount of gathered people. "Uh....I miss somethin'?"
Young Jeremy, still sitting on the stairs, quiet as a mouse murmurs. "I can get in contact with everyone in Portland.." He says, clearing his throat a bit.
Salem nods once. He leans against the wall not far from where Alicia is lurking, a frown sunk deep into his saturnine features.
Wilbur rests the spine of the book in the palm of his hand. He copies names and numbers, adding three when he is finished: RIGHT, Wilbur, UPTON, Victor, and UPTON BARNES & YATES, Real Estate. "Mr. Smith," he asks as he finishes the last of the writing. "I do believe I can make it to Falcon's Rest on my own, to search for others."
This is when the rat takes the opportunity to clamber out of a Gnawer's pocket and up the face of her coat to perch on her shoulder. Anneka looks over to Aiyana, cants her head. "Plannin', mostly. More people're turnin' up." She holds an arm out, and the rat runs dutifully along it to her hand where it perches, looks at the cub. "She likes candy corn," the girl says.
Alicia rolls her shoulders a bit, then picks up her jacket on the ground, pulling it over her body. Sliding her guns out, she straps the holsters at her sides, then starts to button up the long trench.
"Do it. Ask for help if you can. Goes for everyone." The Walker Elder begins moving into the rec room, now, done with taking charge for the moment. "I need food. Don't tell me the cubs have eaten us out of house and home already?" A thought strikes him suddenly, as he straightens and stops. "Spread the word. /Anyone/ who steps on a cockroach in this building, will be answering to the Walkers. And bleeding, too."
Yi glances up in the direction upstairs, brow arching. Another one. That's good. At the mention of cockroaches, she shakes her head. Buggers. "I suppose taking a trip to the grocers is not allowed either then?"
Aubrey seems to be ignored. She lightly pokes Wilbur's shoulder with her finger as she looks at him for a long moment. "Pardone me, but may I come with you to Falcon's Rest. Tobin is there and I would like to be there. Perhaps I should let Cameron know too, maybe he'd like to come." The three /have/ to stick together.
Aiyana smiles at Anneka and heads over, studying the rat. "Cute. If I had some candy, I'd offer it some. Glad to see others are still alive, though. Last thing I'd need is to come downstairs and find those things waitin' for me." She shudders, then quirks a brow at the cockroach comment. "Boy..someone isn't quite sure of the pet concept yet," she mutters.
Anneka looks over to John. The line of her mouth doesn't change but her eyes brighten.
"I wouldn't advise testing us," Salem says to Aiyana, without humor.
"They're serious too." Alicia says quietly as she starts to smooth back her hair some, then flips it over one shoulder.
"Cockroach is the Glass Walker totem, just like Rat's the Gnawer totem," Anneka says. "So don't go hurtin' neither of 'em, 'cause they're standin' with us."
John doesn't move much, save to look to one side. "..should go check on Rina," he murmurs mildly before saying more loudly, "Cliaths can leave on their own. It's advised they travel in pairs. Cubs... /not/ without an Elder. And no fights in the building. Walkers will break them up, and I /do/ mean break them up. This is a place of civility," he rumbles. And then starts up the stairs to his own apartment.
Wilbur's gaze lowers to Aubrey. "It's best you stayed here, little miss," he tells her, twisting the pen closed and tucking it. "See to organizing an Umbral effort with the others. Your moon is needed." His eyes soften, a slight smile passing over his stern features. "I'll tell Mr. Tobin you're all right." With this, he shuts the book, setting it down as he makes his way out.
Aiyana huhs, nodding. "All right. No stomping the bugs. Got ya." She goes into a more casual stance, shifting her weight to her right leg and folding her arms. "Anything else I need to know?"
"Spiders deserve newspapers," Yi adds just for the humor of it towards Aiyana. Laughter in dark times. "If you really can't stand it here, there is the apartment on Bridge Street. Just don't go without me."
Still moving up the stairs, John calls back over his shoulder, "The other rules are common sense. Obey your elders. Stay alive. Keep this place safe." And then the Elder's gone.
The Fianna's expression suddenly changes from better to worse. "Why?" Aubrey says, almost whining. She looks completely mortified. "How will I know if he's alright if we're not together. Cameron, Tobin, and I stick together..." Finally Aubrey restorts to a quick silence as she stalks off to some corner and sulks. Oh, she'll obay her elders but that doesn't mean that she isn't going to complain about it.
Aiyana nods to Yi, smirking faintly. "Okay. Gonna try to tough it out here first, though. Besides, they got some really cushy beds..."
Anneka lifts her arm and the rat scrambles down, claws catching on her coat as it finds its its way to her pocket again. A naked tail snakes about, vanishes into the dark. Anneka nods. "John's right. Yi, we should go shoppin'. I bet we can get a bunch of food at Garcia's." She quirks a smile up at Aiyana.
Salem turns his head to watch John mount the stairs, then abruptly pushes off the wall and stalks into the rec room.
Alicia tilts her head over to Yi and Anneka and grins. "You guys want to use my credit card?"
Yi tickles the edge of the rat's tail just before it disappears, and nods to the halfmoon. "True. With this many Gnawers, who knows how long it'll last." Her brow rises. Perhaps now, while the sun is still up. Yi looks over at Alicia and smirks. "Can it stand the wrath of an empty Gnawer stomach?"
Alicia replies with a laugh. "Don't put Tom in the poor house, thats all I can ask of ya."
From afar, to the room, John ponders the appropriateness of leaving a message for new residents of the safehouse, telling them what conditions are like... | Conditions are good. Most places are very clean, have food, and the apartments aren't too cramped. All the latest toys are in the rec room, and the Walkers are civilized. Your neighbours are largely quiet, except for the very noisy sex that occurs in John's apartment, very regularly, for extended periods of time. (Logger's Note: Don't mind John. He's silly. ;) )
Aiyana perks at the sound of food, looking very interested in the conversation. "Food? Meal? I'm up for that. Can't remember the last time I ate, now that I think about it..."
From a distance, Salem pours himself a glass of ice water and then sinks into one of the side chairs. The remote is well within grasping distance, but the Philodox doesn't touch it. He rests his head back against the chair.
Yi shrugs at the galliard. "Can't get much poorer than a college student," she chuckles.
"Spaghetti," Anneka says with a certain earnest energy. "Mama Garcia makes a lot if you ask for it. An' we can probably get a bunch of stuff at the Tin Yen, too." She lifts a hand up to rub a smudged ear. "We should get stuff 'n cans, too."
Alicia chuckles slightly. "And bottles of water too, you know.. the untainted kind."
"I'm not the one drinkin' out of th'toilet," Anneka says. She glances at Yi, her face the picture of grim earnestness.
Aiyana quirks a brow at Anneka, but doesn't question any further.
Yi rolls her eyes a bit. "Cans? Bottled Water? It's the Sixth Age. It's the Apocalypse. You make it sound like it's the end of the world," the Gnawer replies, equally serious. At least, for a moment, before she breaks out a smirk.
Anneka grins right back, bright and fierce, rocks on her scuffed heels. "Okay, we should get goin' 'fore it's dark."
Rina comes jogging down the stairs, shrugging into her jacket on the way.
From a distance, Salem hasn't moved -- at least not much -- since he sat down in the armchair.
Yi nods again, glancing over to Alicia for said valuable piece of plastic.
Alicia reaches into her backpocket and fishes out a wallet. Flipping through the cards, she hums to herself. "Here ya go... American Express. It doesn't have a limit that I know of, but I don't encourage you to try and find it either." She hands it over to Yi, smirking. "Tom does get the bill."
Rina skids to a stop at the bottom of the stairs. "Song Yi?" The sight of the girl brings a haggard smile to the Kin's face. Her eyes are shadowed, bruised-looking from lack of sleep.
Aiyana glances about then smiles, and starts to wander over towards the rec room.
Aubrey slinks down into a corner, not looking like a happy camper. Far from it, actually. She lies her head across her arms, being a quiet little thing in the corner.
Yi pockets the card with a smile, and nods to Alicia. "I won't overstay his graces." At mention of her name again, she glances up. "Rina. Good to see you... well, unharmed, if not fully rested."
Rina closes the distance between herself and Yi, and gives her a quick, impulsive hug. "Glad you're safe," she says, when she draws back. "You, ah, off somewhere?"
Alicia nods her head to the raga'Gnawer, then grins slightly. Her head then turns over to Rina's direction, flashing a bright smile. "Hey girl."
From a distance, Salem doesn't react to the young Gnawer's approach. With the sunglasses covering his eyes, he could almost be assumed to be asleep. Almost.
From a distance, Aiyana steps in and glances around. After a moment, she wrinkles her nose in minor agitation. "No weight set? Man...what a ripoff."
Yi returns the hug perhaps a bit strongly. "Just to get some food," she replies. "Maybe it will settle the Walkers' stomachs some."
Rina gives Alicia a quick nod, a taut half-smile that seems to be the best she can do. A flicker of amusement touches her eyes, as she glances over her shoulder.
Rina purses her lips when she looks back to Yi. "Hm. Mind company?"
From a distance, "You're paying rent?" Salem sits up, takes a sip from his glass of ice water. His scarred face turns toward Aiyana.
Yi shakes her head. "Of course not," she answers with a brief glance to Anneka, waiting. "Garcia's first, I think."
From a distance, Aiyana blinks, jumping a little in surprise before turning towards Salem. "Um...no?" she mutters softly. "But I was hoping to get some exercise in."
Alicia reaches into her pocket and pulls out her cell phone, flipping it open. "Wonder Woman, how can I help you?"
Rina tips her head, listening to Salem's voice. "S'aright. I'll run my errand later, maybe." She lifts a shoulder, and lets it fall--then gives Yi a closemouthed smile. "Gianni's asleep."
Alicia laughs as she wanders across the room. "Lance. Hi. Hey, I bet your answering machine has surely blown out with all the beeps you've gotten from everyone. Hey, you OK?"
From a distance, Salem takes another sip, then sets the glass down and regards Aiyana, clearly sizing the girl up. "There are spaces just about large enough for sparring, if you can find a partner," he says. His tone's not actively hostile, but about as warm and friendly as the ice cubes in his glass.
Aubrey looks up from her spot in the corner as Lance's name is mentioned. She crawls out of her spot as she stumbles back onto her feet.
Alicia blinks her eyes once, then continues on. "Lance.. where are you at? I think we need to meet, like..real quick. Shit hit the fan last night and I thought someone woulda got ahold of you."
From a distance, Aiyana hmms. "Yeah, could do that, but everyone's busy with patrol plannin' and that kinda stuff. Leaves this poor cub with too much free time on her hands." Leaning back against the wall, she looks around the room again. "Not a bad place, though."
From a distance, Salem's voice turns sardonically dry. "So glad you approve. I didn't catch your name."
From a distance, Aiyana ignores the tone and just smiles. "Didn't toss it to ya. I'm Aiyana. You?"
Rina glances over her shoulder again, letting out a resigned breath. "*Oh* yeah. I think I'll just ask Salem to go with me..." A look back to Yi. "You met the cub, yeah?"
Yi mms, nodding and stifling the giggle coming from Rina's petname. "Well, I won't disturb him more. Almost all of them now I think. I'm afraid I haven't been in touch enough," Yi says with a glance farther into the rec room.
From a distance, Salem doesn't smile back. "Jack Salem. Philodox of the Glass Walkers, Cliath in rank, human born, son of Cockroach and member of pack Synthesis."
Alicia hangs up the phone and starts for the door. "Guys, I'm ganna pick up Lance in the car, I'll be right back quick as I can. I have the cell oh me."
Rina gives Alicia a quick nod. "Seeya. Take Yi and pick up the food if you want.
From a distance, Aiyana nods a little. "Nice to meet you. Um, to be more formal, I guess, I'm an Ahroun cub of the Gnawers." She shrugs, "No pack or anything yet, though."
As the group starts to head out, Laura approaches rapidly. "Hey, 'Licia. Room for one more?" she calls.
From a distance, Salem's lips compress around the word 'Gnawers'. "As a cub, you wouldn't be packed, no." His voice has dropped a couple of degrees of temperature. Sitting back again, he takes another sip of water.
Aubrey doesn't say a word about leaving with Alicia. The Fianna cub as already been denied permission once. She slips over to the couch where she takes a seat.
From a distance, Aiyana inwardly shudders at the cold vibe coming from Salem. "Didn't think so," she replies, glancing towards the floor.
Alicia glances over her shoulder and grins to Laura. "C'mon chick." Then a look over to Yi. "You too sis?"
Yi gives Rina a short squeeze on the shoulder before turning to Anneka and motioning for them to depart. "I think we'll walk. Have some places we still have to run by to get things," she answers Alicia.
Rina nods. "Be careful. Don't walk alone." Then she heads for the rec room, to defuse any disaster.
A colossal man in his prime, his youth offset with sobriety and hair so blond it reaches white. With shoulders wide as mountains and posture ramrod straight, he exudes towering, blunt power, and is yet a man entirely civilized. He sports a gray textured dress shirt with a pinned dark tie, walnut trous with black oxfords, and a chocolate herringbone wool coat ending at mid-thigh. A gold band glints on a large hand. Brown aviator sunglasses obscure wide-spaced green eyes, and his face is one of strong features: sharp nose, generous cheekbones, and a mouth whose edge is cut by a long straight scar. Several others mark his skin in minor white, one a slash across the eyebrow that leaves him with an inquisitive expression forever.
The basement consists of plain cement flooring and walls. Aside from one wall, which is made out of metal and has a matching steel door. This leads into the second half of the basement. Nothing has been done to make the place homey at all. It is little more then a cement cube, resembling and oversized bomb shelter. With a small drain in the middle of the floor, and a hose curled up and resting neatly against on wall. Directly above two metal tubs, that are covered with large sheets of metal. Usually near the drain and metal tubs, is a well sized desk, that is covered with an impressive looking chemistry set. Large chucks have been torn out of the cement walls and are in various stages of repair.
