Apt. 15(#2604RJh)
The slummiest wing of the Shitty Ass Ghetto Villas holds a party. Apt. 15 is like stumbling into an electric blue Mardi Gras lunchbox complete with 30-piece mariachi band. Within the common room sprawls a half-circular wagon-blockade formation of hardy boxes, lumpy beanbags, and a slouchy sofa holding the fort against the tinfoil-antenna alien of a color TV. Like a curious insect, the TV sits up against the wall atop an old metal keg with wires of a Sega Dreamcast tumbling off in thin pseudopods down to the console. The video games for the possibly only valuable item in this apartment surround the keg, backed up by platoons of toy cars just waiting to slide under an unsuspecting foot.
Stuff abounds here in the hideyhole of the giant wolfrats of GAIA. Christmas lights provide blinking dashes of rainbow color along the walls, lighting up old horror movie posters and their ilk. Underfoot, the fuzzy brown carpet sports a scar of yardlong clawmarks in a corner, along with a stamped-on smileyface rug lying in the very center of the room. A mullet wigged radio set atop a cardboard box in one corner plays in a battle of media with the opposing TV. (+view for rooms)

Out

Rina knocks on the door a few times, around lunch. "Song Yi?" she calls out.

Indeed it's lunch. And so when the door's locks are undone and the door swung upon, the smell of roasting chicken billows out. The Gnawer blinks a few times before motioning Rina in. "Afternoon," she says amiably. "Please, come in and sit."

Rina offers a quick, tentative smile. "Didn't mean to catch you eating... you sure it's okay?"

Yi nods once and ushers the kin in. "Of course. Would you like anything to drink? Though I'm afraid Nevada drank most of the Mountain Dew..." She shuts the door once the woman has entered.

Rina shakes her head quickly. Her eyes watch the girl, intent, studying her movements. "Nah. I just wanted t'make sure you were okay."

Yi seems to notice the kin's concern by the tone of her voice. The newmoon pauses in her hospitable rush around the apartment, gazing at Rina. "I'm ok. Why do you ask?" Behind the seeming innocence, the Gnawer quietly thinks of what could bring the woman to her door, and remembers.

Rina stands uncertainly by the sofa, arms wrapped around herself as she watches Yi. "Looked like somebody slipped you a mickey and dropped you off at our place. Almost like they were tryin' to say somethin'. Not sure what." Her gaze is direct. "Do /you/ know?"

Yi is no devious Garou, though she quite certainly does hide a bundle of secrets in her. She meets the kin's gaze, eye to eye a moment. "Yes." She doesn't seem inclined to reveal much, either. "I learned my lesson, thanks."

Rina's brow furrows slightly. "Well, whoever is messin' with one of my friends oughta learn their lesson, too," she says with a flicker of annoyance. "So who was the asshole did that to you?"

Yi turns away, gaze breaking off as she turns her attention towards the kitchen. "It was just a misunderstanding. I assume that the Walkers saw it on their videotapes then?"

Rina's brow furrows slightly. "No. We don't review them unless--" She's tense, now. "When did it happen?

"Few days ago," Yi concedes, her voice both lowering with mild embarrassment, coupled onto a twitch of humiliation and anger at such. "Like I said, it was a mistake of judgement. He panicked, and I got the brunt of it." She clears her throat quietly.

Rina's mouth tightens. "Said 'he' would be who?"

Yi sighs with a quiet exhale. Well, she did say if the elders found out, it was his hide. "One of the cubs. Jonathan." The Gnawer glances up at the woman again. "But like I said. He panicked. Thought he'd did a big mistake, and I was attempting to teach him without actually telling him about the lesson... and things ended up the way they were." She doesn't look to enthusiastic about how that lesson turned out, really.

Rina's expression darkens visibly, and she steps over to the couch and drops into it. She lets out a breath. "Okay. Why don't you tell me about this. From the beginning. What was the mistake. What were you teaching him. Everything."

Yi goes into the kitchen a moment, checking up on the roast before coming back into the small living room. She chooses a spot on a wellworn seat cushion, folding her legs beneath her easily. A hand picks at one of the visible scars on her arm as she starts, "We'd met the first time at Harbor Park, and parted ways without full introductions. The second time it was in the caern, but he didn't know I was a Garou that time either, being in crinos form... so that day I was in the pool hall a few blocks away, and he came in. We were playing the game, talking normally when I asked him how his family was. He let slip a bit of the Veil when he talked about Cindy telling his mother things, and I called him on it. He didn't know I was Garou, like I said, and I thought rather than straight out telling him and further risking the Veil, I would see how he would cover up his tracks." She shakes her head slowly. "Not very well, apparently. Wasn't long before he thought the best course of action was to take me to the Walkerhouse, and look for John or Roger. We were in the basement, and I still hadn't told him about being part of the Garou. He went in the infirmary and I didn't realize it, but when I was just about to make it look like I was leaving, he stuck a needle in me. I don't know what was in it." She shrugs, eyes ducking down to the brown carpet before her. "I almost killed him then, but I think the drugs helped stop that from happening..."

Rina's expression is dark, quietly angry, and she leans an elbow on one knee and rakes a finger into her hair. "Great," she mutters. Then she takes a breath, and straightens, looking over at the Gnawer, her dark eyes direct and unflinching. "There anything you need, by way of reparation? Other than that cub gettin' his ass kicked?"

Yi shrugs again, unsure what exactly to make of the situation or the slip. "It would have been fine, if he hadn't set up the cover as such a bad excuse for a drinking spree. He might've tried to get into the video stores but I don't think he was able to. The cub is still a cub, and in need of discipline surely. But I don't think it merits any heavy consequences. I should've realized what he was doing, anyway." The Gnawer shakes her head again, reviewing the whole scene. Her eyes narrow, a heightened feeling of simmering anger within her radiating but only directed towards herself. "It was the same way I was caught off guard the first time. I should have known." The newmoon stands up abruptly, turning for the kitchen to occupy herself, and perhaps to conceal whatever emotion might spread over her features.

Rina rises, turning to look at her. "The first time? This's happened before?"

Yi inhales sharply, keeping the air in for moments before exhaling in a tension release. Her hand grasps at the back of her neck, rubbing lightly over the scars. "Same way I was caught, back home," she says softly. There's no anger left, filled in with hidden pain under regret. "So you're sure you don't want anything to drink? You want some of the chicken? I think it's done." Not like Yi can tell, from this distance, but her eyes are towards the kitchen, averted from any direct conversational gazes.

Concern eclipses Rina's anger, as she watches the Gnawer. "No," she answers with a little shake of her head. "No worries. I don't want to intrude. Just... needed to know."

Yi finally turns back to face her, features affixed with calm and even a mask of pleasantry. "You weren't intruding. Don't worry. I believe I looked quite like a wreck, knocked out and surrounded by alcohol in the safehouse lobby. I should be the one to apologize for making such a mess in your home."

Rina's expression tightens. "It wasn't you who did it," she says angrily. "Just prompted it."

"Nonetheless, it was a lapse of judgement in dealing with such things as a cub's mistake," Yi presses, as her way of mannerisms is wont to do. "It won't happen again. From either of us. If John requires me to be there when he decides suitable punishment, then I will be there to give my half of the situation."

Rina nods, watching her with those uncompromising dark eyes. "He'll probably wanna talk to you, yeah," the girl says quietly.

Yi nods slowly, then walking into the kitchen to turn off the oven before coming back. "And you? How is your uncle?"

Rina's smile is touched with worry, tight. "He's fine. For now. We gotta remedy the situation before too long, though."

"What brought up that whole scene with those other men?" Yi queries, retaking her spot upon the floor cushion. Turned the interrogating tables now, hasn't she.

Rina shakes her head minutely, tense and awkward. "It was a mistake. I shouldn't have dragged you into it." She rakes a hand back through her hair--and now it's her turn to avoid eye contact. "I... want to get Silvio away from them. From those Russian bastards. And we have to shut them down."

Yi smiles faintly. Mistakes made, and their consequences... Her dark eyes watch the kin, like a mirror of the previous conversation. "Then We will." The Gnawer implies emphasis on the 'we'. "There is strength in numbers. Just have to make sure our numbers are higher than theirs. If you need help, Rina, I'm here as well as the Walkers." She stands up, the smile on her features one of genuine friendship.

Rina's stance relaxes a fraction, and so does her smile--warming in answer to the Gnawer's own. "Thanks." She steps toward Yi to offer a hand, the gesture uncertain... as if she isn't quite sure what affections might be proper between them.

Yi quirks her own tweaked smile, taking the hand of the woman into her own. She doesn't shake, but wraps her hand around the woman's and brings the other up to cover both of theirs. Her head dips in a bow, eyes still on the woman for a few seconds before letting go. "Pleasure."

Something in the Kin's hard expression softens. "Take care," she says simply. Then she turns and walks out.
