Renee is in her regular corner, the pile of blankets looking as if they came from a salvation army bin. Only this time she is in lupus, sniffing here and there.
Yi's footsteps could be heard upstairs, along with the rest of the patter of the dogs in the church sanctuary. Her steps take her towards the basement, getting closer and closer. The newmoon tries the doorknob, finding it locked at first, but with a small look and a click, the door opens easily. Funny, the basement door is almost never locked. She peers in, looking, and half expecting, trouble.
A mangy looking dog makes its way to the bottom of the stairs, takes one look at Yi and disapears again. Burrying itself under the blankets.
Yi blinks a couple of times, gazing at the unfamiliar dog before the canine darts into the blankets. "Hey," she calls softly, closing the door behind her. "That must be you, Renee." She comes down the steps, slowly and without any postures of threat. "You don't have to hide, I'm not going to hurt you." She stops a couple of feet away, looking at the blanket-dog pile.
Renee growls softly from within the blankets, moving around a little bit. Soon enough, the blankets buldge a bit in the middle as Renee sits up as a human. Glaring at Yi irritably.
Yi blinks a couple of times, and then proceeds to the kitchenette, oblivious to the irritable state of the new cub. "Sorry, I didn't mean to barge in on your playtime," she snaps right back though not with the same force of annoyance. "You want something to drink?"
Renee chews on the edge of her braid. "How many of you are there?" At the offer of a drink, she nods. "Sure."
Yi plucks out an extra can of Coke, before closing the fridge and walking over to offer it up. "A lot than you think, but still not enough," she answers enigmatically. "How are you doing?"
Renee shrugs, taking the coke without a thankyou. "They won't let me out of the basement. Even 'round the block."
"You're welcome. Something you did?" Yi queries, popping up the tab once her hand is freed up.
Renee shrugs, opening her own can of pop. "Not really, no."
Yi takes a few gulps of the soda and leans up against the wall next to the cub. "Just a little better than being stuck in a closet a quarter of this size for a month or so." The newmoon looks around at the rather spacious basement. "So... what do you know? The gathering you came to... that was a lot of us. Not all, still. How do you like it?"
Renee sips from her coke. "It was weird. Creepy. Certainly made a point of how many of you there are. Someone would snag me if I took off."
Yi pauses in mid sip, looking at the galliard from the corner of her eye. The can comes down, and Yi peers directly at Renee. "Guess you don't like it much, do you?" Her dark brown eyes check the door, the Gnawer thinking about something. Then she shrugs. "I could let you out..."
Renee scratches at her arm, looking at the far wall. "Don't trust Nevada 'an I don't like being locked up. Be happy if you'd just let me round the block. I'd promise to stay put."
Yi tilts her head at the cub, before pushing off the wall and motioning for the girl to stand up. "Come then. I'll show you around." A wry half-smile plays over the side of her lip. "And I promise we'll go a little further than a few blocks."
Renee sets her coke aside and scrambles onto her feet, following Yi. "Where?"
Yi motions to the coke that the cub set down. "Oh you can bring the drink along. We'll just be walking a little. I hope you don't mind... since I don't have much money for a car or a cab." The CantoGnawer looks up towards the door again, heading to the bottom of the steps. "There's a number of places that are mostly safe to go to, for the Garou. And some places, that you have to ask permission before going there. Now that you know what you are, you have to know what else is out there that also knows what you are." There's a faint wane of her smile. "It might be a little much, but don't worry if you don't get it all the first time."
Renee does an aboutface and retreaves her coke. "Okay."
The two Gnawers depart from the basement, briefly mobbed by the eager mutts that await outside the church. After a bit of restraining, strict commands and some extra petting, the two of them proceed first up north to the CantoGnawer and Nevada's apartment. It's a little wild inside, but very Gnawer-like. As Gnawer as one can get, with actual living quarters. "Well, this is my place," she motions. "There's no windows or anything, so as long as the door is locked then shifting is relatively safe. But... this is still mostly public. We do have neighbors... and sometimes some people like sneaking around." She shrugs. "You're welcome to come here, if you don't want to stay in the church basement. Nevada lives with me, though." She flashes a brief smile, and then lets the cub have a poke around.
Renee does indeed poke around, shifting pizza boxes see if there is anything intresting inside. Looking under the couch and opening closets as well. Well, never know where you'll find something useful.
Yi watches the cub poke around, making sure to intervene when she starts getting into some things that the Gnawer regards a little bit more private. After some more explanation of the apartment, and how there are cubs that have come and stayed here on occassion, the two of them depart. Then it's off down Regan, at which point the newmoon pushes down anything that is distracting her regarding the street and stops at a particular old building downtown. She doesn't particularly point it out, but nods her head in the general area. "This is the safehouse," she says in a distinctly lowered and offhand tone. The people that passby, don't seem to be interested in the two girls' conversation. "This is territory of a different group of us. They call themselves the Glass Walkers." The name is said even quieter, as if there were microphones installed around them waiting for a slip. "I don't recommend going in without permission from the elder. John. If you remember him, he was the one who looked very tall, and had a lot of scars on his face. And the gloved hand." She pauses a little, and adds after. "He's not too bad, but I wouldn't recommend getting him angry at all."
Renee nods, looking over at the Safe House. "Not much to look at, is it," she murmurs.
Yi leans a bit, and chuckles. "That's the point," she whispers softly before motioning further down. "You know where the Park is. That's another part that we can consider as very public. The recent activity there also makes it a little more dangerous to be running around with fur." The Gnawer glances about, then motions for the cub to come along. Soon they reach the Rialto, the rundown, somewhat shabby ex-theatre that used to be great in its time. "This is the Rialto. Inside, Kaz and some of the others live. Just to note, that the Rialto is part of Kaz's pack. We form packs, like wolves do. Like a smaller family within the larger one. And so Kaz's pack, called Trouble, claim the Rialto as their headquarters." She looks at the rundown theatre and hitches a shoulder. "I won't bring you in, as I'm not sure who's in there now... and if you remember, we have a law that says to respect the territory of another. Same as the streets."
Renee nods. "What trouble in the park?" She asks, having been locked up in the basement recently and a little clueless. At the mention of the Ralito she nods. "Watch my P's 'n Q's and leave if they don't want me there."
Yi clears her throat softly. It's not exactly pleasant news. "They found a dead person in the fountain," the newmoon notes quietly. "The police don't know who did it, but the person was found...without a head." Yi doesn't seem too overly bothered - like she's seen, or experienced, worse. Then with a dismissive gesture, she turns back to Renee. "Do you know Bernie?" Yi waves towards Elson, a block or so north. "She lives on Elson, a few blocks from here."
Renee nods. "I met Bernie. She seemed okay."
Yi smiles a little. "Bernie is a good person, and an even better friend. I know this seems a little strange, all the things that have been happening... but if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask us." She looks back to the cub beside her and tilts her head. "Hungry?"
Renee grins, much happier then eariler this evening. Just getting her out of the basement and into fresh air... Well, poluted city air seems to have done her a wolrd of good. "Always."
Yi taps the bottom of her chin thoughtfully. "Well then... you pick the restaurant. Just don't pick that French one uptown... it has a little bit of a creepy feeling to it with the snails." She chuckles softly. After the cub decides, the two Gnawers head off to the destination to have dinner before returning to the church.
