The Prairie House: Main Floor(#2245RJ)
A small foyer leads into the prairie-style house from the front door. A set of stairs veers off to the immediate right of the foyer and curves around to the second-floor. The long, narrow hallway walls are a coral color with glazed porcelain floor tile the color of artifact clay. To the side of the front door is a LCD screen that monitors the home by a computer as it leads into the other rooms located on the main floor. The 'living and dinning room' are seen immediately to the left of the long, narrow hallway. The walls are a dark grey colored with slate-gray tiles which are covered by a plush red floor rug.
A linen-closet and powder room are seen on the right side of the hallway just before the kitchen. The 'kitchen' looks like the inside of a spaceship with steel appliances and a high-tech design. The countertops have a translucent, geometric aqua-tinted glass with a modern looking sink. The kitchen table is simply an angled kitchen bar with barstools that unite the nook with the kitchen. Connecting the garage with the kitchen is a utility room with a washer and drier. To the back right corner of the house is a 'family room' with a fireplace that looks as through it has been turned into an office. The walls are the same as the living and dinning room. The Master Suite is found at the end of the hallway to the back left corner of the house.

Obvious exits:
Master Suite Outside
Xia is unpacking in the house after things have been dropped off from the apartment. Slowly, furniture from the furniture store has arrived and is begining to make the house look a little less empty.
A knock comes at the door, at which Kenneth can be seen holding a box to be moved inside. It's rather heavy by the way he has it propped up against him instead of simply opening the door himself. "Where'd you want these?" A light sheen has started forming on his brow as a result of the moving.
Xia walks towards the Philodox and peers at the box. "Set it in my room." she answers, pointing to the Master Suite around the corner from the dinning room.
Kenneth does so, weaving around a couple other furniture pieces. Just a grunt of effort comes from him, as he nearly drops the box, but instead just sets it heavily on the floor. As he comes back, the philodox looks over the common living area. "Seems like a big house for just yourself," he makes comment, rubbing at an arm to relieve soreness.
Xia walks up to Kenneth, raising her hand to curl one of the Philodox tresses behind his ear. "They will be put to use somehow," she replies as she looks up into his eyes.
"Kind of reminds me of..." Kenneth doesn't complete his sentence, pausing as she reaches and looks up. "Does this mean you aren't going back to school, or...?"
"Not for the rest of the summer... at least." Xia says, trembling a little in her slender form as she watches Kenneth's expression.
Kenneth nods once, unbothered by the woman's decision. Dark eyes holding on her face, he lifts a hand to gently touch her on the cheek and tries to look reassuring. "Hey, at least now you can think about summer vacation. You got at least a month before things start back up again."
Xia smiles as she feels the touch against her cheek. "Kenneth, I want you to live with me." she says. "I don't want bad things getting into this house..."
Kenneth can't help but tense a little bit on top of the everpresent undertones of Rage that lurk. "But when the moon is large," he starts to say, "when the moon is large, it isn't safe. I'll make sure bad things don't get in here... even if I have to perform the Rite of Cleansing regularly out here."
"I am not asking you to stay all the time," the Shadow Lord kinswoman replies. "No Garou will be allowed inside when the moon is large." She is a little uneased by Kenneth's rigidness towards her and tilts her head towards one side. "I am really asking you to protect me, Kenneth. Not the house itself. I have another in mind, someone that would be willing enough to do it almost for free."
Kenneth's brow furrows, accompanied by his narrowing eyes. "You don't need to ask to be protected. You're kin, Xia." The way he says it with determination seems to brook little argument against it. "Who's in your mind? The Marine, Scott? He can hang around."
"Well, of course I would invite Scott by, although he has his own place." Xia replies. "I have spoken with a Gnawer who said that he would be willing to watch the outside of the place. He knows what rules must follow, and I said that I would have incurable things done to him if he got out of line." She looks like a child wishing to keep a stray puppy as she glances towards Kenneth.
"How often do you think he'd... What do you mean, a Gnawer?" Kenneth's trailing end of the conversation suddenly pulls up short. "/Which/ Gnawer?" His question comes slowly and quietly, but with the springs inside winding tighter.
Xia opens and shuts her mouth, lips purging, and then finally answers the Shadow Lord. "Basil," she replies.
Undeniably the Rage flashes across the halfmoon's eyes at first. He takes a step back away from the kinswoman. "Basil," he repeats like he hadn't heard it right the first time. It sounds, in majority, like a father reaching for a shotgun. "And how do you know Basil?"
"Kenneth, the kid has made some poor choices..." she begins in defense. "I first met him when he was still a cub and then we had been talking at the farmhouse."
Kenneth doesn't seem to be mollified by that explanation. "That 'kid' is no older than I am, and he's done enough." Withholding much of his words, the philodox continues interrogating. "What's he want around here?"
The kinswoman answers in a calm tone, "Some food and shelter." She doesn't give-in, although her lip does twitch a little. "You don't think that I am going to let him get away with anything, do you? He is so easy to manipulate, Kenneth. Wouldn't it be so much easier to let someone else do the dirty work?"
"I see. A little food and a little shelter huh? Easy to manipulate," Kenneth's tone flattens out, "just like me. That it? Protecting you becomes such a dirty job, is it?"
Xia shakes her head at Kenneth. "No," she says as things suddenly become misunderstood. "I wouldn't treat you like a dog, Kenneth. And what does it take me to spell out that I have feelings for you?" she asks. "You don't even... try."
"What's that supposed to mean?" His voice is sharper, and the step back that was taken is suddenly erased as he rounds on the kin. "What do you mean, I don't even try?"
Xia holds her hand to her forehead while looking to Kenneth in annoyance. "All you do is get into arguements with me," she replies. "You don't trust my judgement?"
"I don't trust Gnawers because they're a fucking cowardly bunch that'd sell their own grandmothers to the red-light district if it meant they'd get something good out of it, and, gay or not, he's a fucking charach who fucked up my old packmate! Literally!" Kenneth blazes loudly, temper flaring in a sudden fuel to the fire. His eyes pin on the woman, angry but held back tightly. "I don't trust /him/."
The kinwoman cringes to Kenneth's tone. "I will tell him that he cannot stay here, then." she replies while keeping conciderably calm, seeing how its enraging Kenneth's temper.
Snorting like a tempermental racehorse, Kenneth jerks his head off to one side and stomps a few paces away. His breath coming quick and fast starts slowing after a few moments of silence pass. "He has the Walker safehouse. He has his tribe's refuge. He has his pack." The philodox turns, inner fires dying back down but the ashes still glowingly hot. "Why do you want to give him more?"
"He didn't tell me that," Xia replies. "He said that he was allowed into the Walker safehouse but never said anything about living there."
Kenneth grinds his teeth, almost twitching back to an angry stance. "You'd think that if he fucked Kevin in the ass enough times, he'd be allowed to snag a real peanut butter sandwich from the Walker's fridge every once in awhile," growls the halfmoon, finding a closed cardboard box to direct his ire at. "I don't want him in here. If he wants to lurk around outside on the street, that's his problem. But this is your house. And because of that, you should at least get a say." He looks up back over his shoulder. "What do you want from him? What do you want from me?"
"I wanted him to make sure that no strangers come lurking around the house..." she says. "From you..." The kinswoman takes a breath, "I would like a better relationship."
Kenneth turns around, facing her again. "They've got security cameras and systems for that kind of thing. And those don't get tired or slack off," he protests mildly. The latter statement however, he doesn't comment on. The halfmoon rather stands there, trying to parse it out. "You're not being specific enough," he says finally.
Xia crosses her arms against her chest and looks to Kenneth with her head tilted towards one side. "What more specifics do you need?" he asks.
Kenneth shakes his head, frustration slipping about him like a residue. "I mean, what the hell is a 'better' relationship? What am I supposed to be able to do to make it better? Does it mean I should come around more often? Does it mean I should stay here? Does it mean I should take out the garbage and do the dishes like some husbands do?"
Xia cautiously approaches Kenneth again, her hands settling on his cheeks so that she can look into his eyes. "I want to be able to get to know you better, both mentally and physically." She replies in an even tone, "So, yes, I would like you to be around more."
Exhaling in a cautious manner, Kenneth looks down, matching gaze to gaze. There's still some distance there, purposefully reserved. "I'll try to be around more," he replies quietly. "But that doesn't answer what you want to do about Basil."
"Its not what I do, its what we do Kenneth..." Xia says, looking to Kenneth. "Didn't Dwight teach you anything?"
Kenneth actually retains a semblance of seriousness, even though his tone mixes with confusion. "Dwight? What about Dwight?"
"Manipulation," Xia says. "Using others. Do you think some Bone Gnawer is going to be as deceitful as any intelligent Shadow Lord."
"No." That's as true an answer as any. Clenching his hand up, Kenneth slips his gaze past the kin to the wall behind her, remembering. "Dwight was a manipulative bastard, sure, but the important thing was that he knew what he wanted. I'm a halfmoon, Xia. Deceit isn't my style."
Xia sighs and then slips back from Kenneth. "I'm going to lie down," she replies as she looks a little faintish from working on the house with a little more energy then she really had. Basically, she has given up trying to fight with Kenneth. He's won.
"There anything I can get you?" Kenneth asks, refocusing quite quickly on the woman when she mentions her departure. "Or I can clean up 'round here."
"No thanks," Xia replies softly as she opens her bedroom foor and then closes it quietly behind her as she disappears.
