The Prairie House: Main Floor(#2245RJ)
A small foyer leads into the prairie-style house from the front door. A set of stairs veers off to the immediate right of the foyer and curves around to the second-floor. The long, narrow hallway walls are a coral color with glazed porcelain floor tile the color of artifact clay. To the side of the front door is a LCD screen that monitors the home by a computer as it leads into the other rooms located on the main floor. The 'living and dinning room' are seen immediately to the left of the long, narrow hallway. The walls are a dark grey colored with slate-gray tiles which are covered by a plush red floor rug.
A linen-closet and powder room are seen on the right side of the hallway just before the kitchen. The 'kitchen' looks like the inside of a spaceship with steel appliances and a high-tech design. The countertops have a translucent, geometric aqua-tinted glass with a modern looking sink. The kitchen table is simply an angled kitchen bar with barstools that unite the nook with the kitchen. Connecting the garage with the kitchen is a utility room with a washer and drier. To the back right corner of the house is a 'family room' with a fireplace that looks as through it has been turned into an office. The walls are the same as the living and dinning room. The Master Suite is found at the end of the hallway to the back left corner of the house.

Master Suite Outside
In the last few days there has been more than the usual amount of traffic through the Prairie House. Xia has not bothered to clean the snowy footprints left on the floor. At the moment she is seated at the kitchen table, pondering her life from this point forward.
And in the past few days, Kenneth hasn't left the house. Choosing instead to remain in 'his' room when not needed, today is the first time he emerges to be what one might consider social. It's to the kitchen table that he approaches the kin, finding a seat next to her. There's a few seconds of silence before he speaks. "Are you going to move in with him?"
[Xia pages to the room: Vera is going to spy. Since she has stormcrows.
Long distance to the room: Kenneth isn't too clear on how the Stormcrows work. What do you mean by her spying?
Xia pages: Ask Vera. I don't know myself.
Long distance to Xia: Kenneth asks.]
Xia looks up briefly as Kenneth sits down beside her at the table. For several moments, the kin is silent before she answers the Philodox's question. "He's going to move here, with /us/." she replies.
Kenneth chews over the answer in his mind. Down with his hands, they rub lightly against each other as he contemplates. "I shouldn't stay here," he concludes, eyes remaining on his hands and the table top.
"Why not?" asks Xia. The kin rises from her chair and goes to the refridge. There, she pulls out a bottle of water before returning to her seat.
"Why not?" Kenneth echoes, looking back over his shoulder when Xia gets up to get water. His eyes follow her all the way back to her seat. "'Cause... it'd be weird," he replies slowly, gauging her reaction. "And don't you think Vera or your grandfather would be saying something about me staying when I'm not ... needed?"
Xia sighs. "Fine, Kenneth." replies the Asian woman. "Do whatever you want. If you don't feel comfortable here, then leave... but I will always have an open door for you."
Kenneth has always come back, at the very least. He does leave for long stretches when the moon's bigger - one could count on him not being around people unless there was an urgency about it. And yet... "What would you want me to do?" he asks of her. Suddenly, his eyes focus quite a bit on the kin beside him. "Do you /want/ me to stay here when Scott's around? Aren't you afraid I might get pissed off at him?"
"I- I... really hadn't thought about that." the kin replies, frowning. She unscrews the cap to the bottle of water and takes a long sip.
That's... little comfort. "Xia," Kenneth starts to speak, but halts right after. He looks away, expression turning contemplative once more. "For a halfmoon, duty is practically everything. Being an example of honor is also part of that. And part of honor... is not letting something like your feelings get in the way of things that should be done." He looks back to the kinswoman after that, eyes roaming her face. "I'm not saying I like it, but... I have to respect it. Respect Those Beneath Ye, as All are of Gaia. And I think the only way I'm going to... respect Scott, is to give him his space."
Xia gets up from her seat and places herself in Kenneth's lap. Her arms slip around his shoulders as she embraces him warmly. "What am I to say, Kenneth?" she says in a soft, whispering voice. "I'm sorry?" She adds, "Scott really does respect you, he is almost jealous that you had me first..."
"Say what you will," Kenneth responds quietly, blinking when he has a kin in his lap. "I think I'm the jealous one here," he adds, an arm reaching around to steady her. "At least he's got the ok from everyone to have you." That arm squeezes a little tensely.
Xia sits back and runs her nails delicately through Kenneth's hair at the back of his neck. "He knows how lucky he is," Xia replies. She leans against him again and gives him a quick peck on his cheek. "You're my protector, Kenneth..."
Kenneth closes his eyes briefly at the peck, breathing out slowly and steadily in calming. "He's supposed to be an ex-Marine or something, if I remember right," he notes, picking apart the qualities of his opposition. "I hear ex-military sometimes got a tendency to be abusive..."
"He was never in a war," Xia explains. "If he ever were to hit me, he'd have Vera to answer to." She touches her nose to his as she looks briefly into his eyes.
Again, the arm circling Xia tenses like a python's body about her. Kenneth frowns even through his eyes at the thought, and from the sheer proximity of Xia's face to his, she can see his eyes aren't that black at all, but a grey cast instead, like stormclouds. "Trust me. He'd never get to see her, or the rise of the sun after," he growls out in an ominous rumble.
"My family wouldn't allow it," Xia replies. "I am not stupid and wouldn't allow him to take advantage of me in that fashion." She continues to comb her fingers through his hair.
"I didn't mean..." Kenneth starts again, but fades off. "I don't think I've really met your family. Doubt they'd think much of me either, given my rep. Given my... you know."
"Given what Vera probably told them about you, I doubt they think of you much either." Xia replies. She curls his hair behind his ear. "At least they had not ordered that you stay way from me," she answers with a smile.
"Hm." Kenneth looks skeptical, though he doesn't say much beyond that on that line of thought. "She don't know me either," he claims with a snort. "All she does is either order me 'round or be disgusted with me. Or both." His frown continues, even though it's only a bit more like a glower now.
"She's all business," Xia replies in a dry tone. "I think we all've come to that conclusion." She attempts to put out that fire by passionately kissing Kenneth on the lips.
Kenneth angles his head to a side at the dry tone from the kin, brow furrowing at her response. Perhaps he doesn't agree with that conclusion either. What reply he has waiting though, is quenched with the kiss. His hand slips up to embrace her as well, drawing her close. "Still," he says after the break for a breath, "I can tell she doesn't trust me. I'm not even sure I want her to."
"She doesn't trust any of us," she replies, narrowing her eyes towards the Philodox. Her fingers brush along his cheek, "Perhaps there is some suspicion from what others have told her about you."
Kenneth looks into her eyes, searching behind them again for some kind of red flag in there. He's still suspicious. "Not that I don't blame anyone - my renown isn't exactly the hot shit around here." He then sighs, running his own hand down the back of her hair. "Maybe we ought to get outta here. Feels cramped." He pauses. "You got anything you need to do?"
"I don't want you to go," Xia says softly, her voice sounding a little choked up. Then she shakes her head at his last question.
Lips drawing thin, Kenneth glances to a side, looking over his shoulder in the direction of the door. "I ain't going anywhere," he says then. "I mean, I just got asked if I wanted to be in a pack too. So I guess it's not a bad setup. So long as he treats you right, this thing... I can work with it."
Xia slips out of Kenneth's lap. "What pack?" she asks curiously.
Kenneth takes in a breath, slow and steadying. As the kin stands, he lets her go and rises as well. "Stacey said Ridgeline's changing lanes. They're supposedly moving out of Guardian status, and becoming a real warpack." He keeps neutral, shoulder rolling to loosen up. "She said she might not be goin' with them, but... she wants to look for others to make a pack with. And, she asked me to help." He glances to the kin, head cocking. "Not exactly sure what's gonna happen after that."
Xia nods her head. Then, she asks, "How is Stacey? I have not seen her for awhile." She pushes in the chair that she was sitting at and looks towards the Philodox calmly.
"Good, I guess," Kenneth replies, taking a step towards the kin and offering his hand out. "But restless I'd say. Guess all the Guardians are ready to get out there and bring the fight to the Wyrm instead of the other way around. Wouldn't blame 'em, being ahrouns. Still... I don't want to think about it too much. Right now, let's just... you want to go see a movie or something?"
Xia smiles coyly at Kennth. "Movie?" she asks, as if she didn't hear it the first time.
Er. Well. "Yeah... a movie," Kenneth repeats slowly, blinking upon realization. "Or we don't have to. I mean, probably going to end up spending money that should go to your weddin' and all."
"I am not having a wedding," Xia replies and she suddenly tugs at Kenneth's hand while she grabs at her purse. "Scott and I are just going to go to the courthouse."
Eep. Kenneth gets tugged along, briefly unbalanced and catching himself until he matches pace with the woman. Her words though, they cause a brief bit of change in his expression as it dawns on him about the informal ceremony of it all. She can see him relax - just a little. "Thought your family was going to insist on it," he says with a twinge of doubt.
The kin laughs, "No, they just want us to have a document confirming our marriage." she replies. "They will insist us to go on a honeymoon. For, you know..." She squeezes the Philodox's hand as she leads him through the pantry and out to the garage through the house.
Kenneth follows along with an expression that belies his thoughts. He's still not pleased about this union, but he's dealing. Her hand squeeze brings on one from him as well. "That mean you two are gonna hotfoot it to Hawaii or something?"
"Italy," replies Xia. "I'll let you have run of the house while I am gone, unless there is somewhere you would like to go? I have enough to pay for a ticket to anywhere you would like to spend sometime, get away for a bit and relax."
Kenneth pauses by the car, stiffening briefly. Italy. "That's not gonna happen," he says bleakly. "Not like we're allowed to leave just like that." Lowering his tone so his voice doesn't echo too much in the garage out of habit, he adds, "Caern can't be guarded right in that case. Ain't a time for me to be taking vacations anyway."
Xia slips her keys out of her purse. "You want to drive?" she asks, handing out her keys towards the Hakken. "Well, tell me what I can do for you."
"Sure," Kenneth responds, taking the keys easy, apparently unbothered by his lack of license. "I told you, you don't gotta do anything for me. Just... just have a good time." The philodox quickly digresses from the topic, brushing it to the side with an unlocking of the car and sliding in. "I don't know what's playing out there, but there's probably something good. Tell you what. You can do something for me. When we get there, pick something good." He finally allows himself a smirk, and starts the car once she's in.
"Of course, hun." replies the kin with a smile. "You know I have good taste." She leans over and strokes Kenneth's arm before putting on her seatbelt. The kin has realized that the Philodox is a more careful driver than what she tends to be, thus is not too bothered by the lack of license.
