Windswept Clearing(#3150RJ)
You stand in a small, snow-covered clearing, high in the foothills east of St. Claire. At first glance, the clearing appears cold and dead, but further examination shows a subtle beauty. The snow-covered rocks that litter the ground have been eroded by wind and rain into intriguing shapes. One looks like a wolf sleeping, another like an old man staring down the mountain side. A small pool, fed by a pure spring, lies clear and still. The rock-face to the north is limestone, studded with veins of quartz that refract the light when struck just right, sending rainbows throughout the clearing. You have rarely seen a more peaceful or pleasant spot.
To the west you see a faint path leading down the mountain. Looking to the north, you see a small cave up the side of the rock-face.

[look Amaya (homid)]
Classically Asian features are framed on this young teen's face by straight, dark hair that falls to her mid-back. Dark eyes hold a youthful innocence as well as stoic determination and concentration that seems out of place for her young age. A petite mouth is bookended by a pair of dimples that sneak out when she smiles or laughs, and her skin is smooth and unmarred. Her posture varies, but even in casual lounging there is a presence about her that suggests an innate carriage born of ancient heritage. She's graceful on her feet as well, and her gait carries that same quiet confidence.

Once the car is parked, it is Kavi who takes the lead, following faint trails that lead through the woods and up toward the foothills. It's a long walk, as the galliard warned, and colder up in the hills than it was down below. Eventually, he stops and turns to regard Mouse. "It's... It's not far. Do you... Do you want me to howl?"

Mouse, in answer, shakes her head. "Nah, I'll do it." And in saying that, she slides very smoothly through the forms, all the way to lupus, or at least, her rather strange, strange version of it. Then she tips back her head and lets out a howl. ~First-Strike and her family wish to speak with Far-Cry, when he is able to come.~

Shin doesn't seem very unnerved by the walk or the shift to lupus for the howl. Amaya, though she's not complained at all, draws a little closer to Shin when she again witnesses that change in form. Her eyes remain glued on the garou this time, and there's no fainting involved either, but she's still a little cautious about it.

"It's okay," Kavi whispers to the girl, ducking his gaze away from the elder. "You... You're okay, here."

Far-Cry enters the clearing from north where Thunder Cave is said to lie. The black wolf can be easily spotted over the exposed rocky land, approaching as a silent shadow. The philodox's approach stops several yards away as he sniffs the scents of newcomers in wariness. The stare is long and passes over each of them.

First-Strike sits back and waits, ears perked. She does spy the black wolf relatively quickly, but she doesn't seem at all inclined to approach herself, sitting as she is at the edge of his territory.

Amaya looks to Kavi and gives a little nod of her head. Still, it's Shin she clings to and it's Shin who puts both hands to her shoulders and offers a soft word of encouragement in their native language. When the girl spots the black wolf coming, she perks up a little and studies his form versus that of Mouse's.

Kavi doesn't spot Far-Cry, at first; not until the others do and he follows Amaya's gaze. He swallows, keeping his gaze lowered, and nods once in silent greeting.

Far-Cry comes closer on steady paws over the familiar rocks, angling slightly to a side in his path and turning for further inspection. Gradually, the philodox comes close enough that his most recent battlescar from Spokane is visible through the fur. The tension in his frame brought by his moon ripples along the Shadow Lord's fur as he stands facing the newcomers. Ears tilt forward and back, then settle in quiet inquiry. What is it?

Cub, First-Strike replies, before she slides back to homid, and drops into a comfortable crouch. "This is Mr. Shin, a kin of my family, and this is Amaya, an unchanged cub of yours, from Japan."

Shin nods to the wolf, respectful and obviously used to some amount of interaction with the Garou. "It is a favor to my friend, Ebisu Shimizu, that I have brought Amaya here, far from the eyes of her country and people, that she be brought up into her tribe." He nudges the girl forward just slightly, and she moves with heavy legs to offer a head tipped bow. Shin continues, "She is fifteen years old now, so time runs short for us."

Kavi doesn't look up, and he remains where he is, lips pressed tight together.

Far-Cry flicks an ear in non-recognition of the name of Ebisu, but he takes a half-step back with the girl pushed forward. After a moment taken to eye Mouse and Kavi, the pair of Walkers getting a passing glance to confirm this, the Shadow Lord slips through his forms back to his breed. "Does she speak English?" he asks dubiously.

"Yep," Mouse replies, sliding her hands into her coat pockets. "Quite well."

Amaya looks up as the wolf turns to man, eyes widening. Rather than answer for herself, since Mouse took care of that, she asks her own question of the other, but in Japanese. Shin gives her shoulders a slight squeeze and looks down to her, "Amaya! This man will become your teacher. Mind yourself."

Amaya whispers "Does he speak Japanese?"

There's a sharp intake of breath from the galliard when Amaya speaks, and he jerks his gaze over to her. "Be careful," he whispers under his breath.

Kenneth narrows his eyes at the use of the foreign tongue, sighing between closed teeth. "My name is Kenneth. And yes, I speak the language," replies the philodox fluently using the very same language, only to switch back to English as he regards Shin. "My father was Japanese, my mother was not, but she must have been the one to carry the blood, from Greece." Amaya is regarded again for a moment, then it's back to the Walkers. "How much has she been told?"

Mouse gives Amaya a concerned look, before looking back to Kenneth. There's a faint quirk to her eyebrows that goes away rather quickly. "Very, very little. Only what she is, and that was only the other day."

Amaya grins when Kenneth replies back to her, a real grin. "I know to call you Kenneth-rhya. And that this is a very big secret kept from the rest of the world." Shin nods to this, "She took it, less poorly than she could have when she was told, but she's still settling into the idea."

Kavi takes a more even breath and nods faintly in agreement with Mouse. He doesn't add anything to the conversation, shoving his hands into his pockets to warm them.

Kenneth's gaze focuses on Amaya then for her grin, not reflective of it but in a vague sense accepting. His next question directs towards the Shin and Mouse, leaving Kavi to stand silently. "And what moon sign was she born under?"

"Crescent," Mouse replies, with the tiniest sense of pleasure.

Shin nods to this. "Yes, that's correct. There is something else you need to be aware of Kenneth-sama. Perhaps spoken more privately." Amaya looks up to her guardian at this, then glances back to Kavi.

Kavi looks to Shin, a small frown tugging at the corners of his lips. He turns an apologetic glance to Amaya and take a step back. "I can go," he offers quietly.

Kenneth lifts his head at Amaya's response and nods slowly to Shin for the man's added comment. To Mouse and Kavi, the Shadow Lord turns and regards them. "Thanks for bringing them," he offers evenly to the Walkers, "If there's anything else you need, don't hesitate to ask. But if I can trouble the both of you briefly to watch over Amaya for a couple minutes..." He makes a motion to suggest that he and Shin step off to a side to speak in 'private'.

"Not a problem," Mouse replies, gesturing toward Amaya. "We'll hang out until you're through."

Amaya looks from Kenneth and Shin back to the Walkers and ends up sidling a little closer to Kavi now. She shifts the messenger bag from one shoulder to the other and then lets out a soft breath, whispering very quietly to Kavi. "He seems very strict." Shin nods to the Walkers as well and then moves to follow Kenneth off to the side.
