Windswept Clearing(#3150RJ)
You stand in a small, snow-covered clearing, high in the foothills east of St. Claire. At first glance, the clearing appears cold and dead, but further examination shows a subtle beauty. The snow-covered rocks that litter the ground have been eroded by wind and rain into intriguing shapes. One looks like a wolf sleeping, another like an old man staring down the mountain side. A small pool, fed by a pure spring, lies clear and still. The rock-face to the north is limestone, studded with veins of quartz that refract the light when struck just right, sending rainbows throughout the clearing. You have rarely seen a more peaceful or pleasant spot.
To the west you see a faint path leading down the mountain. Looking to the north, you see a small cave up the side of the rock-face.

Leaving Amaya in the hands of the Walkers as he approaches the Shadow Lord, Shin lowers his voice to begin the explanation. "As her tribal guardian here, you are entitled to know the reasons she is here, rather than home with her family. Her father Ebisu Shimizu took interest in Mika Hatake- a woman from a family he was in fact charged with observing for political purposes. Amaya is their child. A secret that was well hidden for many years until outed by Ebisu's jealous son. It's a rather tangled web at this point, but the purpose for her being sent away is simply, to keep her out of sight and out of mind of the Shimizu family. I've settled her papers legally, and we've been on the move here for nearly seven months."
Kenneth walks along at a slow pace until they've reached the point where the sleeping wolf rock lies in view of the old man staring. "What makes the Hidden Walk so appealing that you'd now abandon her here in the hands of strangers?" His eyes shift to gaze at the man from the corner of his eye and then turn more fully to stare at him.
[OOC] Kenneth uses Truth of Gaia.
Shin nods to the question. "It is a varied Sept. There is no single tribe that holds excess power. It also has a small population of Shadow Lords which means, should the Shimizu family look for her, this would not be the most ideal place to begin their search. Also, because at this point, we are simply running out of time. She is a hard working student in any field she studies, and she's adopted the strength and confidence from not just her father, but her mother as well."
[OOC] Amaya: No lies there.
Kenneth winds a hand into his pocket. "And what will you do once you've gone from here without her? Draw off the hounds?"
"I will cover our trail. I'm rather good at that. As I've said, we've been here several months without any trouble." Shin looks to the other with a slightly worried glance, "Will you turn us away?"
Kenneth's expression turns vaguely offended for the worry, and his answer comes abrupt. "No. If this is where she can be safe, then this is where she can stay," replies the philodox, "I just want to know what to expect and what to leave you expecting." He strokes his chin in thought. "Have you made any arrangements with the Glass Walkers regarding yourself and her?"
Shin raises a brow and lifts a hand to adjust his glasses. "No, she is a Shadow Lord. There were no arrangements. I only went to them first because they were able to found through my contacts. I am loyal to my tribe, but this was a personal favor that I owed Ebisu. He saved my sons life; and I am indebted to him. He asked me to bring her to the states, and so I have."
"Then have you any questions or concerns that ought to be addressed?" Kenneth continues with a glance back down the slopes. "It might concern you to know that our enemies surround us here. It may not be the most ideal situation."
Shin nods to that, "Then she'll learn to be strong. She was trained by her father, and is capable of defending herself even as she is now. Everywhere there are enemies, here at least, they will be in their own clothes."
Kenneth smiles fiercely, the tips of his teeth showing in expression. "Cool. Thunder will be the judge of whether or not she belongs in the West or with the Nation at all, or return back to the Mother. Her teachers will be strong. Many. And there will be balance, I assure you." He takes a moment to consider something else in mind and turns back to Shin, this time looking less the elder and more just a young man. "And in return, I've a favor to ask of you, if you would care to perform this task whenever you return to Japan."
Shin draws in a deep breath of relief, a smile coming over his features. He nods to the other, "If it is within my ability to perform, in such a way that it does not endanger the secret of Amaya's whereabouts, I will do this."
Kenneth's features read a little conflicted within, turmoil of emotion creeping into his otherwise neutral mask. "If you could find my father's family if they still reside in Osaka and tell them what happened to me. My father's name was Soujiro. Soujiro Saitou, but he took the name Bernard when he came to the States. He married a beautiful woman, Amarante Sardelis, when they met in North Carolina. And I was born there." His accent telling of that origin, the philodox continues, "He gave me the name Kenneth, but also Syuusuke. Syuusuke Saitou-Sardelis. And we lived for a good long time until both my father and mother were killed by other Shadow Lords." Gravity weighs onto the halfmoon as he relays this. "Tell them... I'll avenge their death."
Shin looks to the Garou, seeing past the face of a young man before him. He nods, "I will do this. And now I know I have found the right place for Amaya. Few others would be able to understand her situation as you will. I leave her in trusted hands then Kenneth-sama, and I will find your father's family and tell them of your promise."
Kenneth gives a slow nod conveying his gratitude. "Please." After that single conclusive word, the philodox gestures back down the slope. "We should get back to Amaya and the others, then. Do you want to leave any contact information for her sake?"
Shin pulls out a cell phone and hands it over to Kenneth. "I know that cubhood is a time of strict lessons. So I'll leave this in your hands. My numbers and information are programmed to it. If something occurs, I will call that number, and either of you may call me from it. It's a safe line. I won't stay long, I'll say my goodbyes and be on my way. Thank you again."
Kenneth accepts the cellphone with a curl of his fingers around the object and pensive look. When he looks back up to Shin, he nods to the man in acceptance. "And I'll do the same, should something occur here," agrees the halfmoon. Without ceremony, he turns and starts back down the slope with the man towards the waiting trio.
Shin leads the way and Amaya moves up to meet him. He squats down and they share a quiet conversation in Japanese before she throws her arms around him tightly. The embrace lasts a minute or two, with more whispers and a nod of her head. Then they part, and the man moves to head back with the other Walkers as Amaya steps lightly toward Kenneth, adjusting her messenger bag once more.
