Farmhouse: Kitchen and Dining Room
Homey is the first word to come to mind when looking at the farmhouse's kitchen. Dark, wood-paneled wainscoting covers the walls to about waist height, dark beige wallpaper continuing to the ceiling. Twin refrigerators occupy the north wall, facing the large six-burner stove on the south. The kitchen counter runs the length of the eastern wall, broken only by the double-basin sink. Cabinets run above and below the counter and a twin-pane window is set in the wall above the sink. A small pantry is set into an alcove alongside the refrigerators, presumably holding the deep freezer as well as shelves of dry goods.
Some twelve feet above the floor, a large chandelier hangs from the ceiling, lighting the dining room and casting long shadows over the bar to the kitchen. A long table occupies the center of the dining room, three chairs setting along each side, and one on each end. On the west wall, a large window looks out on the trees alongside the western pasture. Set into the north wall is a large cabinet, its glass doors closed on shelves containing a full compliment of fine china and glassware as well as a few decorative nicknacks. On the east, a wide bar separates the dining room from the kitchen.
An opening in the southern wall allows passage to the front entryway of the house, while a sliding glass door in the kitchen opens to a clearing behind the house.

Matt sighs, and picks up Eamon's plate to put it in a tupperware container. A bit of masking tape and a Sharpie marks it as "EAMON'S."

Tom ohs and nods. "Okay," he says, slipping through the living room.

In the front rooms, Alicia reaches for the door and opens it up, stepping outside.

Farmhouse: Hallway and Living Room
All doorways in the front part of the house lead to the front hallway, a J-shaped area with the short tail starting at the stairs, the front door hitting the bottom curve, the doorless opening to the living room halfway up the long side, and the also doorless opening to the kitchen and dining room at the very top. The hall has a simple wooden floor, and decorated with a generic print of soft-colored flowers hanging on the wall to the right of the front door, and a tall table sitting under the print which serves as a place to toss keys. A closet under the stairs serves as a place to hang coats or to toss shoes.
The doorless opening to the living room is halfway up the side of the hall's J, and the word cozy might spring to mind when looking into is, as it seems to radiate comforting vibrations. A long couch sits against the south wall beneath a large bay window curtained only by sheers that manages to obscure the view in but only filters the day's light. A variety of out-of-date magazines are strewn atop a low coffee table; more neatly presented are the plethora of books filling the small bookshelves which line the eastern wall. Three chairs sit about the room, focused inward, to allow group conversations. Large floor pillows are stacked in one corner of the room, except one, which lies carelessly in the middle of the floor, apparently left out the last time it was used.
An opening in the northern end of the hallway allows access to the kitchen and dining room at the back of the house, while carpeted stairs twist up at the other end of the hall, leading to the second floor. A door at the base of the J lets out to the front porch.

Squall is laid out on the couch, on his back. A pillow is propped up under his head, and he's back into his well-worn jeans, white t-shirt, and tattered button up flannel, all looking relatively clean, and even smelling the part too. His eyes are closed, and he appears to be breathing slowly.

Alicia pauses for a moment as she eyes Squall, then slowly, quietly, she starts heading for the kitchen to grab some pasta Matt made for her and Eamon.

Yi heads in from the kitchen's backdoor, coming in from the barn after drying off a bit inside the farmbuilding. She's quiet in her movements, not hearing any conversation and knowing it to be fairly late in the night. Poking her head through from the hallway, she looks about her and smiles faintly at a sleeping Squall.

Alicia stops before she bumps into Yi, the puts a finger to her lips, motioning to be quiet, then slips past her into the kitchen, whispering in her ear.

Squall's nostrils flair slightly, and he snorts a moment later. "Is it morning yet?" Both eyes remain closed, and his voice sounds sleepy and mumbled.

Alicia whispers "I have food in here for you."

Yi nods in silence at the coggie cub's whisper, suppressing a light chuckle. Turning, she follows the cub into the kitchen.

Squall rolls over in his sleep, burrowing deeper into the cushions, and facing towards the couch now. A faint frown spreads on his face, and he mumbles something about penguins.

You go through the open doorway at the end of the front hall to enter the large room subdivided into the kitchen and dining room of the house.

Alicia heads to the fridge and takes out some pasta and chopped fish and garlic, placing them onto the counter. In a hushed voice, she softly says. "Matt made this a lil while ago. Ah'kinda helped him. It smells real good."

In the front rooms, Squall cracks open one eye, the faint whiff of garlic flaring his nostrils. Peering around to the extent of his vision, without actually moving his head, he doesn't spot anyone close by. Closing the eye, he stifles a yawn and curls up in a compact ball, nuzzling the couch cushions.

In the front rooms, Squall calls out, loud enough to be heard in the kitchen, "Is it morning yet?"

Yi sniffs experimentally, glancing back towards the living room as sounds of Squall stirring echo in the empty house. Cold pasta, or lukewarm at best. Delish. "Smells like... pizza." Turning her head, she glances again at the hallway and calls in reply, "Not anywhere near."

In the front rooms, Squall lets out an exhaustive sigh, brimming full of contentment. The Wendigo mumbles a quick thanks to Gaia, before sluggishly climbing to his feet, and sniffing the air around him. "Food?" The one word is tinged with hope, and what sounds like ravenous hunger.

Yi bites her lip, unsure of the reply. Food is open to all in the farmhouse fridge, last she checked. "Yes, there's food here," she notes, though a bit hesitantly. She is pretty sure Alicia wanted that pasta, but her portion could go to the cub just fine. Gnawers survive on little, and that's the fact. "Want some... mm... noodles?" Well, they're noodles to her.

In the front rooms, Almost before Yi finishes her question, the Wendigo launches himself over the couch, slides across the floor of the kitchen, and impacts with the counter next to Yi.

In the front rooms, Squall goes through the aperture at the northern end of the front hallway to enter the back room of the house. Squall has arrived.

Squall quirks up his lips, looking over the noodles. "Hrm...nah, too much garlic. You go ahead and dig in." With that, he wanders into the pantry.

Yi waves to the Wendigo cub as he comes sailing in from the front rooms, and merely blinks with a bit of confusion as he just as quickly refuses. In the next step she shrugs and looks to Alicia.

Alicia glances over to the Wendigo, then back to Yi. "You can have it all then Song Yi. I'm not.." She pauses. "Hungry."

Squall sifts through the shelves of goodies in the pantry, stopping occasionaly to "sample" something, for the benefit of the Farmhouse's residents. With a whoop of glee, the Ragabash's voice echoes from the pantry, "Oh SWEET! They got Chicken Biscuits!"

Yi turns at Squall's voice, blinking. "Chicken...biscuits?" She looks somewhat boggled, but sniffs again at the pasta and looks at Alicia. "Are you sure?"

Squall emerges from the pantry, grinning while cramming a huge handful of chicken-flavored crackers into his maw, and heading right for the fridge for a coke. "God I miffed thefe!"

Squall opens the door to the fridge and takes a quick inventory. "Anyone want something?"

Yi is just confused at Squall's hyperactive self, crackers at all. How one could wake up so quickly is beyond her. "Uhm, I'll just... eat the... noodles here." She shuffles about the drawers for chopsticks, but not finding any, settles for a fork. Moving the plate to the table, she sits down at the chair and peers at the two cubs, kind of...waiting.

Squall extracts three Cokes, and flops down at the table across from Yi, looking like he's just won the lottery. Something sure has him in a good mood. Deigning to share, he holds out the open box of Chicken Biscuits, arching an eyebrow. "Want any? They're going fast." With his free hand, he pops the tab to his own Coke, before sliding Yi's across to her.

Perplexed at the young cub, Yi sets down her fork and reaches over to the box, drawing out one of the biscuits and eyeing the curvy rectangular shape. Glancing back up at the cub, she nods in thanks for the Coke, and takes a bite experimentally. After a moments chewing, she brightens a bit, liking the flavor. You can't beat Chicken Biscuits.

At the Gnawer's brightening to the chicken-flavored snackfood, Squall emphatically nods his encouragement, and sets the box down by her place. "Dig in, I'm gonna probably load up on Coke I think. Gonna need it for tomorrow morning." He lets out a small sigh, then shrugs before guzzling down a third of his Coke.

Yi twirls the fork in her hand, stabbing down into the warmish noodles though not without some odd-like movements of getting the pasta onto the silverware. "Why do you need Coke for tomorrow?" she asks before sending a forkful of pasta mouthwards. The garlic and fish combo earn a bewildered look from her as she continues chewing, tasting the real Italian deal for the first time.

Squall snorts in amusement at her expression, finishing off his first Coke already. The Wendigo lets rip a belch of epic proportions, though unleashed behind a hand so as to prevent any eardrums from bleeding. He opens the coke intended for Alicia and takes a quick sip before replying to the pasta-scarfing Gnawer, "Gotta keep punishing myself. Long story, but basically I made a big mistake that could've burned down half the bluff, Wendigo territory. Joe was pretty pissed, but decided I should create my own punishment. I opted to haul some logs and boulders around, clear up some of the thrashed areas from the recent storms. And I have to wake up at dawn to start, and I don't stop till noon. Hence guzzling as much Coke as possible. I'll need a huge caffeine rush to get me through another day of this." He offers a small shrug before chugging down more from the can.

Yi balks slightly at the thought of a wildfire, glancing concernedly at the Wendigo cub. "But... if you drink all of the pop now... what will you drink when you are thirsty later?" She takes another bite of the pasta, relishing this one a bit more as she returns her eyes to the cub.

Squall frowns slightly at Yi, puzzled. "Water, or else I'll come back for more Coke." He states it as if the answer was glaringly obvious, and tugging on Yi's nose all the time. Finishing off his second Coke, he again stifles an expulsion from the depths of his stomach, before setting the can down and sighing.

Yi shrugs, chewing on a third fork of pasta. Swallowing, she takes a sip of her Coke and leans slightly towards the cub. "When do you think I should visit the bluff? For my own lessons to start?"

My roommate did, though she will be coming back in the summer. I, hopefully, will return for another whack this spring semester, provided these past two days I didn't condemn myself. I think though, maybe, possibly, hopefully, I will come back. At the very least, I have to come back and haul all my stuff back home, if I am indeed given the boot.

Squall scratches his chin, leaning back in his chair a bit. "Hrm...good question. I think next week maybe. I could show you some little stuff tonight, if you're up to it."

Yi grins, downing a gulp of Coke with a quiet exhale. "I'm ready for whatever you will throw at me," she replies confidently. Obviously, she doesn't have the slightest of what she's getting into. Or maybe she does, in the slightest sense.

Squall snorts slightly, shaking his head. "I have a feeling you're gonna need a lot of bandaids in a few hours." He motions to her plate. "Want to finish first, or should we head out now?"

Yi chuckles, and looks down at the near done plate. A few scrapes and it's cleaned up. She sets the dish in the sink, washes it clean, and places it in the rack nearby before turning to the table and also finishing the Coke in a couple minutes' time. "We... where are we heading out to?"

Squall gets to his feet, and pushes in his chair. "The bluff. Where else?" He grins and nods towards the back door, before heading out into the night.

Two Eagles Bluff(#3332RJ)
To the northeast, the foothills climb upwards into the steep, snow-capped crags and mountains. Here, the tall summer grasses bend in sporadic waves as the wind dances on the bluff. The evergreens and aspens give way to an open field that lends itself to a panoramic and picturesque view to the south and east. A small stream wends its way unobtrusively through the eastern edge of the mountain's crags, the scent and sound of trickling water clear on the hesitant but almost incessant breeze. Wildflowers litter the green of the grass, coloring them with touches of violet and bright oranges, yellows and blues. Tucked in along the sloped wall of the forested foothills to the northeast is a well-worn section of ground.

Cave Trail

Wood of varying sizes is stacked up against the rockface both next to, and inside the cave's entrance. A ring of small boulders keeps things relatively in place, and another smaller ring of rocks surrounds the blackened area near the cave, where the fires always burn.

Yi doesn't have too much trouble keeping up, though is still rather unaccustomed to moving through a forest at night without lupus aid. She peers around in the darkness, eyes having adjusted for a little while now. She suppresses a cold shiver, drawing the hood over her head just a little closer as she looks to the cub. Squall stops and turns towards the Gnawer, as they both come up onto the bluff. He appears to size her up for a moment before nodding, more to himself than her. "Where do you want to start?"

Yi blinks, taking a look around. "Uhm..." comes her hesitant reply. She shrugs, a bit lost at this point. "You're the teacher. Where is the best place to start?"

Squall screws up his face, tapping his foot and thinking for a few moments. At last he seems to come to a fair enough conclusion. "We'll start with the basics of movement through the forest."

Yi nods, waiting for the cub to lead the way. "Is there... something special about moving in the forest? I mean, of course I'm supposed to be quiet..."

Squall snorts, shaking his head and sighing. "Oh this is going to be a long night. Sit." He nods to the fire ring, moving over to it himself, and flopping down close to the ring of rocks.

Yi looks amused, if nothing more, and moves over to sit by the fire. Easing down, she sits cross-legged, about a forearm's length from him.

The Wendigo leans back a bit, pulling some wood close and setting it next to him. Selecting a stout short stick, he stirs up the ashes and charred remnants of the fire until he spots the glowing orange pile of embers in the heart of the ashes. Carefully laying down dried moss collected from the wood, and putting pieces of bark and small splinters of wood on the embers, he soon gets a slow flame going, enough to add the first log. During the entire routine, he is quiet. The only sound is of the popping and crackling of the flames, and the occasional hoot of an owl in the trees somewhere on the bluff.

Squall says "What are the most basic fundamentals of stealth, in the city?"

Yi thinks on this for a bit, gazing into the firelight. Her eyes seem blank, but she's thinking. "Keep to the shadows. Stay low. Don't follow too closely to your target. Watch where you step." This she answers, but not before adding, "What part of the city?"

Squall nods, apparently approving. "Doesn't matter. Alleys, buildings, streets. City in general."

Yi nods slowly. "Alleys are the easiest to keep in the shadows. They aren't well lit, but it is more dangerous. Still, you can hide behind things like trashcans. Mother Rat helps in stealth, and her children warn of danger usually. Buildings, it would depend. But it's the same, just to keep low and out of the way. Streets are harder, even at night because of the lamps." She pauses there, chewing a few more thoughts. "And look up." She smirks a bit.

Squall is silent for a few minutes, adding a few more logs to the fire, before speaking. "Some of the same rules apply to the forest. But not all, and not in the way you might think." Taking a deep breath he goes on. "The first thing you mentioned, keep to the shadows. We will start there. Keeping to the shadows is often the best way of staying unseen, and is rarely violated, except in circumstances such as if you were appearing light in coloring, it would likely be to your advantage to dart back and forth between the shadows, flitting through the dappled areas where the sunlight falls. This can also succeed in a different way. Should the enemy see you dart from one shadow to another, they will not see you in the shadow. They will only see something moving quickly in the dim light. It can prove a worthy distraction, and draw out the enemy, so that the Ahrouns may deal with them."

Yi thinks on this and nods. "My fur is... dark. Well, the most I can see is dark, and some streaks that are darker." She shrugs. "The eyes of lupus are not anything like humans."

Squall says "Another of the rules: watch where you step. This goes two fold in the forest, where the slightest change in position of a twig or a leaf can tell the enemy more information than you would wish. Watch where you step, because you want to be swift and silent and make no noise or commotion. It is easy to step onto a twig buried beneath the leaves or topsoil of the forest. Easier still to trip over a hidden root, or vine. Be cautious in where you place your feet, and be cautious you leave as few tracks as possible. Even if you are being more stealthy than a ghost, flitting through the shadows and trees, unseen and unheard, sooner or later if the enemy is wise, they will look for signs of your passing in the forest itself. And they will know which way you have come and gone, regardless of how careful you may have been. Do not step on rocks or stones that bear moss or lichen. If you scrape it off, the enemy will know you have walked there. Do not leave footprints exposed for all to see. Cover your trail with the surrounding leaves and brush, or wipe clean your trail from the dirt. If you can use water to your advantage, do so. The water will wash away traces of your passage, as well as your scent.""

Squall nods to the Gnawer. "Then you would best be suited for moving at night, or staying unseen in the foliage."

Yi leans back a little, quietly listening to the words and taking in the lesson as well as the firelight's warmth. "I'm not sure, what you mean though... I understand not stepping on rocks, but what is moss and lichen? And how can you be sure that you are not leaving prints, especially in the darkness?" She rubs the back of her neck, trying to imagine a scene in the forest. "Maybe it is just natural, in lupus."

Squall chuckles slightly, but nods as she asks her questions. "Moss and lichen are small plants, that often grow on rocks. They attach themselves to it, and they can be scraped off easily. If one knows what to look for, they can tell where you have stepped on rock or stone. The best way to be sure you are not leaving prints in the darkness, is to move slowly, and to never betray your position by hesitating, or doubling back on your own trail. You only increase your chance of leaving a mark for the enemy to see. If you must go back, strike a side path that leads far away from your original trail, and make sure it does not run parallel to it. That will be like point a finger for the enemy, saying 'Here is where I have come from, come kill us'.

Squall says "If you must climb a tree to escape being seen, do so slowly, no matter the chance of the enemy spotting you. Better that you get out of sight in the nick of time, than leave scuffed areas of bark on the tree, showing the whole forest that you were there. If you travel in warform, or human, collect several small rocks along the way. If the enemy is moving too close to your position, or if they need to be distracted, throw one of the rocks in the right direction and they will follow. People prefer to think of themselves as smart. But in the dense forest, almost anyone can fall for a simple trick."

After a few moments pause, she glances at Squall and smiles a little. "So, there are many enemies in the forests, then?" The question comes innocently, unassuming that the forest could possibly house more danger than a city street. She's not cocky though. "That sort of trick works with cans in an alley as well. How a crinos could climb a tree without breaking the branches, is a little trying on the imagination though." She chuckles lightly.

((You paged the room with 'And of course, when dropping down from above in crinos, you must exclaim something, usually in the manner of 'Hoka Hey!' ;)'.))

Squall raises one eyebrow, his voice coming out even and carrying a dangerous undertone. "Where one enemy can stand out in the open, in the city, dozens can hide in the forests. Do not ever think that within each shadow of every tree, and each hollow of every root, there is nothing more than air, and leaves. You are Ragabash. You know better than all else where the hiding places are, and where to strike from unseen. Your enemies will know all this too. And in the forests, there are more hiding places than a single building could ever have." He breaks a grin, the seriousness dropping at her mention of a crinos scaling a tree. "That's what your human or in-between forms are for."

((Squall pages to the room: Will likely say something utterly confusing, should he ever do that. "FUCKING MUPPETS!", or "Twinkie Orgasm!"))

Yi returns to her seriousness at Squall's explanation, nodding in agreement. From what she's explored, the forests are indeed like a ninja's paradise. "I was just kidding, about the crinos up in trees. When that happens though, I will really be surprised when I look up." She laughs quietly, stretching a bit of her back. This motion though, elicits a slight yawn, which she quickly covers in a bit of embarrassment. "I'm sorry, the runs today have been a bit tiring," she replies, the edge of her lip quirking in to a small sheepish smile. "Perhaps we should end here, for now."

((You paged the room with 'And all motions stop while Squall in crinos quashes a boggled Dancer.'.
Long distance to the room: Yi thinks Nevada would say the Fucking Muppets line. LOL))

Squall chuckles, nodding. "Agreed, pip. You have listened to me drone on enough for one night." He stifles a yawn of his own, adding one last large log to the fire. "If you do not want to traipse back through the woods in the dark, you can always sleep here for the night. The others will not mind."

((From afar, to the room, Squall cackles. Hey, being unpredictable and confusing is great in battle. I mean, if an Ahroun in crinos with a huge spear jumps out at you, you're gonna get ready to beat his ass. But if a Wendigo Raggie jumps out, wearing purple spandex biking shorts with a hole cut out for his tail, and wearing what looks like a sports bra, with his hair pulled back into pigtails jumps out at you with a huge spear, you're going to blink at least a couple times while thinking 'What the hell did I just get myself into?'))

Yi grins, standing up to stretch a bit. "I think I should as well," she says with another soft yawn. At the same time, her form slips and slides down into lupus, the wolven shape much more suited for outdoor roughing it and warmer to sleep in. She chuffs a bit, glancing at her fur. It is dark, yes?

((Squall pages to the room: Better yet, jump out with a huge spear, shouting in a really bad British accent "Girl power!"
You paged the room with 'Aiyaaaaaa.... now THAT is scary. And yet the british accent, Yi can do. LoL'.))

Squall grins with approval and nods, getting to his feet. "Definitely, and well suited for the shadows."

Ember chuffs, tilting one ear out to the side. You may sleep in the cave, if you wish. It is sheltered from the wind, and the fire is close enough to warm some of the rock inside.

Three-Blades flicks her ears towards the cave, glancing in that direction. She rumbles in agreement, turning her eyes back to the cub momentarily. And you will sleep also in the cave?

Ember snorts, splaying both ears down and out to the sides, in slight embarrassment. No.. I will sleep out here. Unless you would prefer I was in the cave. I just thought you would want it to yourself.

Three-Blades whuffles softly, tail swishing slowly behind her in lazy movement. I do not wish for you to be sleeping in the cold and rain simply because I am in the cave. It is large enough to be den to two wolves at least. Her eyes sparkle in the firelight, and she rumbles with good nature. The same eyes turn to the fire momentarily, a bit hesitant after Squall mentioned almost burning down half the bluff from earlier. What of the fire?

Ember bobs his head slightly in ascent. His gaze turns to follow hers, and he notes her tone. Lashing his tail slightly at the rock underneath him, he grumbles low in his throat. It will die on it's own. The other fire was much bigger, the one that got out of control. This one will be fine.

Three-Blades chuffs softly, her tail twitching once as she gazes at the fire dubiously one last time as if willing the spirit in the fire to keep it down this time, and then heads into the cave to curl up.

Ember grumbles again, lowering his head, but not protesting further. With a final glance back at the fire, he snorts at it, almost /positive/ the fire won't get out of control. With a quiet whine, he heads into the cave to sleep until the dawn.
