Jermantown Avenue, Industrial Sector
From warehouses a few blocks away from the river, across a chunk of city more than a dozen blocks wide, factories brood over the streets like dark dragons over their piles of treasure, greedy and all-encompassing. Huddling around the factories are smaller, less imposing buildings that are probably warehouses, or storage locations for trucks. The factories spill fumes into the air, darkening the area and blanketing it in a stench to mark humankind's domination over the world. Some of the warehouses stand empty, some are boarded over, and some, on the northern and western fringes of the area, have been converted to bars, with bizarre lighting, frequent brawls, and music that blares loudly at all hours of the night. There are no residences here for anyone to complain, and the factory workers populate the bars thickly. Throughout the area, trash and oil mingle together on alleyway streets, impeding the paths to the dumpsters at the ends of many of the alleys.

Filthy Alley Forgotten Church East West

The noonsun does little to warm the streets but for all of that Alec does not feel the cold. Dressed in what can't be very warm clothes he seems to know where he's going. He makes his way towards the old church with a slow careful pace of a man who knows /where/ he is. Bag slung over his shoulder his eyes dart around slowly, almost as if he's expecting to get jumped. Well, it's happened before.

Sitting at the top of the stairs leading up to the church doors, Yi has her face covered under the hood of her sweatshirt. Only the tip of her nose and lips, along with a few strands of hair are visible as she turns a small, neon green plastic kazoo over in her hand a couple of times. She doesn't notice the other just yet, lost in thought.

Making no effort at stealth he crunches on garbage and other forms of debris that little the pathway to the church. Getting closer to it he hm's softly and does a hand pat check of various pockets and other things that he has stashed away in his lab coat. A hand reaches up to brush through closely cropped black hair and he cinches up the bag on his shoulder. Feet resume the path towards the church.

Yi slowly looks up at the sound of the crunched garbage, the noise seemingly bringing her out of her reverie. Dark eyes watch the man coming closer, and her hand closes around the kazoo, sticks it in the front pocket of the sweatshirt, and she makes it a point to observe the approacher in a roundabout, distracted way.

Movement attracts the eye and as he gets closer to the church his alertness level seems to take a notch on the upside. He looks to the person with the something or other and not catching that it was a kazoo is a little wary of the person. Catching a closer look at her, he's rather unabashed about it really. Not a frank look, but a serious one. Damn doctors, always thinking that you're a patient or something.

Yi finally settles her eyes at an off-to-the-side gaze at the doctor, also cautious. What sort of doctor runs around this part of town in his work clothes? Her wariness remains buried in her though, as she takes up the initiative and offers a smile to the health worker. A friendly greeting? Rare in this part of town.

His voice, when he finally does speak is something of a surprise no doubt. "Nei ho." His own smile and nod is friendly enough. The low baritone of his voice rumbles from within and there is a quiet power about it. The accent isn't great, but it's not terrible either, flavoured with something that's not quite Anglo. A few quick steps take him towards the church as he seems content to make his way up towards it.

Yi raises an eyebrow in surprise. It'd been quite a while since she's heard the greeting of the East, and more surprised it came from this man. "Hello," she returns though not with a bit of amusement in her features and tone. "Are you looking for someone?" She stands up slowly, like a cat rising up from a relaxed position to get a better look at the man coming up the stairs.

Alec pulls up short as he gets the reaction he was looking for and he turns around to look at the young woman. "Ah yes actually I was." His eyes flick up and down the street as he makes sure he's at the right place. "I do be looking for a man who goes by the name of Elan Dunblaine." His head cocks slightly as if to watch you and guage your reaction to the name.

Yi is all but cool at mention of the Gnawer elder, though her eyebrow rises slightly before lowering. Looking up at the doctor, she brushes the hood off her head in a quick swipe of her hand through her hair. "I know Elan, but he's not in the church," she replies simply, gazing at the doctor with equal scrutiny. "If you want, I can tell him you came by. Why are you looking for him?" her tone is cautiously curious in asking.

"Ah..." If he seems dissapointed at the idea of missing him he doesn't hide it. He shrugs and turns back down to walk a bit closer to you. "A mutual friend of ours sent me here, I had a couple of questions to ask him and thought he might be here. The accent is french, for those who might recognize it, "If you could tell him that a Doctor Alec Sainte Jean, is looking to speak with him...." He reaches into a front pocket and pulls out a small business card. Handing it to you with both hands he smiles, "...I would be in your debt."

Yi takes the card gingerly and glances at the name over the card. Slipping the card into her sweatshirt pocket she nods with a smile. "No debt," she replies, a simple matter as delivering a message not much of a task. "May I ask, what you would like to speak to him about, should he ask me?" Her eyes raise with a curiosity towards the doctor, inquiring through the light in her eyes as to why a man like him would be looking for Elan.

"Actually it is about the hospital, and on that I should...." He looks at the watch on his wrist, something that even others would cast off as junk. "... get back, I just wanted to see if he was available to talk after I get off of work." Alec's nod is curt and he smiles again. "Thank you very much..., Oh, I did no catch your name."

Yi quirks her head slightly as she glances in the same direction out of habit. "My name? Yi Ling, or just Yi." She is even more curious as her attempt to find out what the doctor wants is foiled. "Should he look for you at the hospital, or will you come back here later?" Her question is crisp, like a secretary.

With a screech that could make the sirens of the SCPD jealous, a cat comes shooting out of an alley meowing to high heaven. Seconds later, a yellow dog rowfs his way after the feline, the choke-chain around his neck jangling away.

There a jerk of reaction as the cat comes screeching out of the alley and a hand darting into a jacket for something that isn't a business card is Alec's reaction... till he sees the cat and his hand relaxes. Interesting, a doctor who packs. Well, considering the area it's not something that's all that strange. Looking to the dog he then turns back to Yi. "Actually it would probably be better for me to come back. Things can get hairy at the hospital and I do no know if I would be able to speak with him were he to come."

Yi twists her head around at the screech. The yellow dog following after earns a quick look of surprise, but the girl chooses to briefly ignore the silly canine. Turning back to the doctor, she nods again, though there's a look of interest. "When will you be back, then?" her voice is a little low, hinting that she might know of what is up at the hospital.

The cat zings down the sidewalk, the dog in fast pursuit. The frisky feline takes a sharp swerve, ducking into another alleyway. The dog scrambles an awkward turn after it. He reappears a few moments later, skulkingly pacing around the alley mouth, trotting around to the side of the sagging old building next to it. Looks like the pooch wasn't fast enough.

Looking at his watch again he eyes the dog with a bit of a wary glance. Knowing what he is, and what Elan is makes him question everything, especially the vandalized sign on the church. Alec's eyes flit back to his watch and he hums. "Probablement after my shift, which is six hours or so." His lips quirk at the hangog expression but he hoiks up his bag again and prepares to head off.

Yi nods again, noting the time but with a different way of telling it. The dog earns her another look as she calls the yellow canine via a green kazoo. Letting down the instrument from her lips, she smiles disarmingly at the doctor. "I'll let him know if I see him. And... don't worry about the hospital. We're looking after it." Her cryptic remark and quirk of a smile is all she leaves the doc with as she jumps down the stairs, walks over to the blonde dog and ruffles his headfur. "C'mon Nev, I'll get you some eggrolls at the restaurant."

Sheeps glances up, head cocked to the side at the sound. He looks all around, before performing a doggy doubletake and spotting Yi. He bounds on over, chokechain jangling, and slobbers at her hands in greeting.

Yi laughs, ruffling the dog with her slobbered on hand before turning to wave to a possibly betwixt doc. Then with a slight motion of her hand, she departs to get back to her cook job.
