Attic(#1437RA)
Low-ceilinged and dimly lit by a window set low in eastern wall just above the stairs, the attic is permeated with a strong, lingering scent of herbs and the sense of old power. The only furniture is a large bed on the western wall and a full-length mirror on the northern one. A large pile of second-hand sleeping bags, a stack of washed sheets, and a jumble of pillows occupies one corner, usable by the temporary inhabitants of the farmhouse. A single globed light bulb dangling from the peaked ceiling is the only source of light at night. A steep stairway leads down from here, the door at the bottom opening on the eastern end of the hallway.

Christopher is sitting in one of the corners of the attic, reading a book.

Yi comes up from the stairway, brushing off a little bit of dirt on the side of her sweatshirt before poking her head up to have a look around. Spotting Christopher, her eyebrow raises slightly, then a hand comes up to wave. "Hello," her greeting floats softly into the room.

Christopher looks up from his book and and grins. "Heya Yi-rhya. How are you?" He closes the book that he is reading and sets it aside. "Happy Thanksgiving."

Yi blinks again in the dim light before climbing up and sitting down a short distance from the cub. "I'm fine, Christopher. Thanksgiving?" she queries with the innocence of one who just doesn't know of American customs.

Christopher leans forward and quirks an eyebrow. "You don't know what thanksgiving is?"

Before the cub would explain, Yi gets an expression like a lightbulb just clicked on. "Oh," she says thoughtfully, nodding slowly. "I remember." Her small smile tugs at the sides of her lips. "It is what Dr. Jean brought to us in the city today, the turkey." She nods as if she knows what it is. "For the day the... pilgrims... came to America, yes?"

Christopher nods his head. "Aye. I don't know the entire story tho'. My teacher in school told us what it was about long ago, but I've forgotten the story now. Well, most of it anways. I could tell you the basics of it, but not the details."

Yi sneaks a glance at the cover of the book Chris was reading, then returns her dark gaze at the cub. "Would it be a story you could tell me, talesinger?" her grin houses both curiosity and inquisitive, doubtful feeling.

Christopher chuckles softly. "Well, I will try. However, I don't know the entire story on it, but I will do my best." He sits up and begins to speak. "From what I have learned in school, the Native Americans were the first ones who inhabated America. Then, when Christopher Colombus fled from England in search for new land, he and his crew came across America. He landed somewhere up in the state of Massachucettes called Plymouth Rock I think. Anyways, they landed and found that the land wasn't deserted, for the indians greeted them and exchanged goods and gifts...

Yi almost interrupts with a question, but decides to ask the cub afterwards, giving him the opportunity to shine with his storytelling. Her nod for him to continue, and she crosses her legs in front of her.

Christopher nods. "Afterwards, the pilgrims unloaded their stuff from their ships and decided to build their homes, which the indians helped out in. After they were done, the pilgrims and indians decided that a feast would be a great way to celebrate their acomplishment and give thanks to their gods for providing them with the food and materials necessary for them to survive the oncoming winter.

Yi runs a hand through her hair, processing the story into her memory banks. "I see," she notes with a nod. "So, this Christopher Columbus... are you named after him? And where is... Mass-a-chew-sets?" Her two questions are just for her information, the names intriguing in their own ways. "And why is such a large turkey needed for eating? To show they have a lot to eat?" Her head quirks to the side.

Christopher shakes his head. "No I am not named after Christopher Colombus. Massachusettes is very far away from here in Washington. It's East from here... I think." He scratches his head. "The turkey question, I really don't have an answer too."

Yi shrugs and smiles, not really bothered by the lack of answers to her many many questions. "So... what sort of stories have you heard about Garou?" Her face takes on a mock mature look, giving that teacherly scowl of sage-like mentors. The light in her eyes is loose though, to show her ease. "Have your tribe elders taught you the Litany, and perhaps a bit of history from your tribe?" The question is definitely one that would be a serious matter though. Her eyebrow raises slightly, adding to that teacherly look she masks her features with.

Christopher grins. "Well, so far I heard one that was about my tribe. I heard it from Layne. It's called "The Hound of Culculhan."

Yi blinks, not knowing this story. The scholarly look dispelled from her visage, she nods and gets up to pick out one of the sleeping bags from the pile in the corner. "What about the Litany?" she presses as her search comes out with a decently sized and warmly thick roll. "It is most important to know the laws of Garou before one searches for fairy tales." Her statement is accompanied with a wry grin though. "But I always thought fairy tales were more interesting anyway." With a few untying of knots, she rolls out the bedroll and sits back down upon it. "I hope you don't mind me sleeping up here as well. It is a long way to the city, and a bit late to be travelling so many miles." The wry grin shrinks into a small, almost embarrassed smile.

Christopher nods. "I know the Litany Yi-Rhya. Forwards and Backwards."

"Good," the raggie Gnawer replies with an approving nod. She blinks a few more times and tosses her head in a quick shake to wave away the encroaching sleepiness. "If you know the Litany, then you just need a few more lessons before your elders should be able to let you out of this house, right?" Her smile tucks up on one side briefly. "Then, you can come to the city and... ah..." her mind fishes around for the term Nevada used, "'hang out' together."

Christopher eyes begin to shine. "Really? Wow." His brow then furrows slightly. "However, I need to take care of a Homework assignment that Steven gave me. I have to learn at least Two Fianna tales within three weeks. I already learned one so far."

Yi blinks at the cub. "Steven? Who is that?"

Christopher leans back slightly. "One of the Fianna elders around here. That guy is mean as hell. He beat me up because I was learning stuff from Jarred-rhya.

Yi winces slightly, shaking her head a little. "Some elders are like that," she says resolutely. "Especially when they find you are learning from a Shadow Lord." Her expression is a bit more serious this time, as she gazes directly at Chris. "It might seem a little dangerous, but if you do learn things from other tribes, it might be best not to tell your elder of what you know and do not. Especially, if you think he will beat you for it." Her previously hunched figure straightens up as she stretches out her spine. "You are supposed to learn only from your tribe's teachers," she continues, "but I think that the more you know, from any point of view, is usually the better. As long as you can still get the main point from all the different ways the stories are told." This coming from a ragabash, it's not exactly the most traditional points of view. "Besides," she adds with a little chuckle, "you can always just let them explain and give them praise for their knowledge. It helps them feel better about themselves."

Christopher smiles. "Okay. I will do that from now on."

Yi laughs softly, the light chuckle from her fading into the dimness of the room. "And of course, don't tell anyone I told you that." She gives him a little wink, then unzips the sleeping bag beneath her and proceeds to crawl in. "Are you going to sleep soon, Chris?" her question floats out as she prepares the bedroll, pausing before slipping into the burrito-like sleeping place.

Christopher nods. "Yeah. I was planning on it. Why do you ask?"

Yi shrugs a little. "No reason. Just curious," she says as she slides into the bag. "I'm a bit tired, so I am going to sleep. Good night, Christopher."

Christopher grins and lays back in his bag and gets himself comfortable. "I guess I will too. Goodnight Yi."
