Forgotten Church(#1801RAJLM)
The old church is dark, dimly lit by outside light coming in through scum-encrusted windows during the day, and tomblike during the night. There is a coatroom in the back of the nave, with separate doors leading off to mens' and womens' restrooms, and two staircases, one going up to the balcony and bell-tower, and the other leading down to the basement. The double doors leading out to the street are at the back of the coatroom.
The hard wooden pews in the sanctuary are, for the most part, still intact. There are even Bibles and hymnals left in the shelves along the back of each row, although many of them look rather chewed on. The altar on a dais at the front of the church is empty, and the lectern that once stood next to it has been knocked over. Rotting red cloth hangs at the very front of the church; there might once have been a design on it, but it has long since faded or been eaten away.

Jay
Obvious exits:
Street Basement
Jay is sitting in one of the pews, holding a small hand gun, spinning the barrel as he loads a bullet into each empty hole of the chamber. His eyes seem intent, orb filled darkness swirling within the pit of rage. Leaning back, he inspects his work, giving a Hmm....here, and a Mmm...there.
Yi opens the church doors a creak, squeezes in and makes sure no one's behind her before she closes the doors. Looking around, she spots the ahroun and smiles. No doubt, she's getting used to seeing him here. "Hello, Jay," she utters quietly, watching him spin the handgun. She smiles back, though glancing as the gun goes into the jacket, and raises an eyebrow. "Going out tonight?"
Jay Mmm's to himself slightly as he shrugs his broadening shoulders. "Dunno, just checking da' gat out befo' we do our thang in the sewers an become hero's." He pushes himself up, grinning. "This is awesome, you an me on a test run. See how fast we can run eh?"
Yi nods, coming down the central aisle and sitting upon the pew next to Jay. "Is it okay, with the others? I have not yet spoken with 'BigDog' about this."
Jay shrugs slightly. "If I know Baney, we going. He gotta way wi' da' big dog."
Yi takes an interest to her hands for a brief moment, nodding in response though taking a while longer to process Jay's speech. "What do you think is causing this?" she asks him, sort of to get an idea of what they could possibly have to run from. "Something sending banes into a caern unnoticed, must be powerful. And widespread. Maybe, the danger is closer than the elders think."
Jay nods his head and rubs his chin. "Maybe... just..some shit is going down in the Umbra.. maybe we got a leak. I don't know, thats why hopefully they send us."
Yi shivers slightly, still unused to the colder weather of the northwest. Thinking about scouting something that could very well have her end up in a similar box as her fishcrate is not helping much either. Still, there is a tug at her, perhaps restlessness and sense of duty, coupled with urgency.
Jay glances over to her, raising a brow. "Ya cold?" He asks, motioning to slide his jacket off.
Yi looks at him, obviously cold, but not wanting to admit it she puts up a hand and shakes her head. "No, but thank you. I'm, just thinking about what could possibly live in the sewers here. If anything like back home, the bane we fought at the docks will be like a fishing worm compared to it."
Jay shrugs and removes his jacket, handing it over to her anyways. "Prolly... maybe its a big ass nexus crawler or something an its ganna eat us up. Oh well... least we die fo'a cause right?" He scoots over to her slightly, shrugging again. "All I know is that its something we gotta do.. and its something us Gnawers need to get recognized for."
Yi nods gratefully, slipping the jacket around her shoulders and glancing at the ahround. "I suppose. Dying for Gaia is the same no matter where you are. It's just _how_ that is more important." She pauses, smiling slightly at the warm from the inside of the jacket. "When do you think we will go?"
Jay shrugs his shoulders once more, then leans back. "Hopefully soon while we still got the full moon ta' back up our rage. Garou in their prime, specially during hunts." He grumbles, scratching the back of his head. "Hopefully Kaz will get back to us with word."
The no-moon nods again, staring into the back of the pew as she thinks. "We should think, about just what we are looking for. It would be better, to expect the unexpected, na?" she says with not much hint of fear. "If it is a nexus crawler, or thunder wyrm, or some piece of large stinky fishbait, we should have a route set up. Should it see us, and chase after, that is."
Jay nods his head and ponders. "Well... ya got dat' gift that can make ya go invisible?"
Yi looks at him and blinks. "Milky Eye?" she queries, thinking of the gifts Gaia had given her. "Yes, I have learned that gift of my auspice."
Jay nods his head to her. "Cool... use that before we go down there.. I'll take the point ta' back ya up. Anything should happen, ya run yer ass off unseen. If there's an attack or something, leave me ta' die ok? Just make sure you get back to the others."
Yi looks at Jay's face, her eyes hardening a bit. "I would not leave you alone to die, Jay. Neither of us will perish in stinky pipe sniffing for bait." Her tone is firm, as if she were protective of him. "We will both make it out alive," she states rather matter-of-factly. Then she adds softly, teasingly, "Besides, I would have to give you too much glory if I told your tale to the others."
Jay smirks and pokes her firmly. "Well Yi, I don't know how ya do it in Hong Kong, but lets get something straight. If I'm getting attacked by something *Really* big thats obvious both of us will die fighting, it is best for you to run yer skinny behind out and make sure you get news to the Sept. Thats more important. ok? I'm an Ahroun, my job is to die. Your a new moon, your job is to run like hell."
Yi brushes a hand through her hair, pushing a couple of bangs away. "Perhaps, ahroun. But you have to promise me this: if it is obvious that both of us would die fighting... that should I turn and fight alongside that we wouldn't win...that you will not fight." She lets her words sit for a moment, continuing softly, "It would do you no Glory, to die fighting it alone, when there is the chance that we all can fight it together and win." Her voice fades to a mere whisper, hoping her meaning got through to the fullmoon. She knows it is the warrior's job to die. But were there a chance for life, she would take it and grip so tightly not even a Weaver's string could pass through.
"There is no honor in letting this big ass thing follow us both back to the Sept, when I can try my best to hold it off. We'd put us in danger by letting it know the way home." He shakes his head slightly. "I know I'm not ganna live forever, maybe not past the age of 25 Yi. All I know is that when I die, I want to do it for the Sept, and for the greater glory of Gaia. Sure, I'll hope to gaia I make it out..but lets be real here Yi... this is a war... an we can't have anymore casualties then we need."
"Then let's make sure there will not be any more casualties than needed," she says quietly, knowing the ahroun would not be moved much further. She could only hope that whatever it is out there would not decide to play dog-that-followed-them-home. A small smile then crosses her face. "Jay..."
Jay glances up from his wringed hands, taking a deep breath, then turns his face to her, youthfilled features quirking upwards in curiousity.
Yi looks at him, a sort of silly light glinting from her eyes. The thought in her mind comes through to her voice, "How can I tell the others... if I don't know, where your Sept is."
Jay smirks. "I'm sure you'll know soon enuff. The moot is coming up. Maybe they'll let ya in."
Yi's eyes brighten a little more. "A moot for your sept? When is it? Perhaps, if I find BigDog, he will convince the Alpha to let me be a guest. I would be honored to see the caern you are so willing to die for."
Jay smiles slightly and scratches his head. "Its coming up, real short... Um... I'll try an get in touch wi' Elan as fast as I can..actually..tell Kaz, she can get the word faster then me.
Yi nods with a short quirk of her head. "I will remember to ask her of it," she says as if mentally making a note. Then she glances at the gun Jay was holding curiously. "May I ask, what the gun was for, Jay?"
Jay shrugs slightly. "Oh..its just my lil toy. Y'know... I dunno... Just in case someone came in here an started trouble. I was just cleaning it, loading it up, killing some time." He smiles, shrugging his shoulders a bit.
Yi brings a knee up and sits a little more lax on the pew. "How long have you been in this city, Jay?" her voice a little soft, more curious than anything.
Jay shrugs and scratches his head. "Um.... maybe a year.... maybe less..." He shrugs slightly and clears his throat.
Yi gazes at the pew in front of her. "I wonder, how the others in your caern are like," she murmurs. "It would be nice to sit at its heart a little while."
Jay nods his head and shrugs slightly. "Most o' the people here are stuck up pricks. I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only person here wi' a personality." He shrugs and sighs a bit. "They are good people tho', just don't gotta lotta interpersonal skills."
"It's the way our tribe gets treated," she notes, turning her gaze from the pew to the altar at the sanctuary. "But once we've taken care of the sewer threat, they'll be a little more grateful of having the Gnawers around. One would hope."
Jay shrugs slightly. "Yah....riiiight.... Y'know what? Last time 'dere was some major shit at the junk yard. Us Gnawers were all gathered an ready ta' go an whip some bane ass...da' big guy Alpha...he stepped in an told us to back off, dat' he was ganna do it. Man... thats wrong, we do the hard work, they take the glory, we get stepped on." He huffs, leaning back. "There's gotta be a way ta' really prove ourselves."
Yi looks at Jay, a little wide-eyed and a little angered. The anger dissipates though, and she sighs out her annoyance. "I'm perhaps, too optimistic for us. Our septs in Hong Kong, are mostly of Gnawer and Walker tribes. I've not much experience with the others of Gaia, save some of the Ratkin." Her hand comes up and combs away a falling bang. "We prove ourselves all the time. The real goal is proving to Gaia that you've done your part."
Jay nods his head and shrugs his shoulders. "Here in America...we get spit on all the time. Get treated like shit." He glances over to her for a moment, then sighs heavily. "But its cool, we all know when da' big one hits, who'll be surviving.
Yi hehs softly, standing up from the pew. "When that time comes, I'll still want all of us to live." She slips the jacket off her shoulders, and offers it back to Jay. "I think I will go and take a walk about the city. Time to gather my thoughts, so to speak."
Jay nods his head as he stands up, taking the jacket from her, smiling a bit, almost shyly as he clears his throat. "Yah..sure...ya want company?" He asks, shrugging a shoulder up a bit. He draws the jacket about his frame once more, zipping it up.
Yi looks up at the ahroun, smiling warmly. "I'd be honored," she says, heading into the center aisle and stopping to wait for him.
Jay lumbers towards her, sliding the gun down into the waistline of his jeans, tucking the shirt over it. Grinning half heartidly, he steps up to her side, then passes, heading for the door. "Ya finally figured out most of the city yet?"
Yi follows up, stepping softly after him. "I think I have most of it mapped out. What lies beyond the city though, I have not explored."
Jay nods his head a bit and grins. "Well...after you talk to big dog, I'll walk ya 'thru' da' bawn an all that... help ya get to know the peeps out there." He opens up the door, stepping out.
