Yi slips back in from her walk around the city, closing the doors quietly thinking Jay is still asleep.
Jay is inside the church, doing one arm push'ups on the ground next to his shirt and backpack. Sweat drips down his body, coursing along each of the rivets in his chest and back. Up, down, Up, down, he seems dedicated as he draws in a deep breath each time.
Yi raises an eyebrow, listening to the breathing and seeing just barely the back of Jay, bobbing up and down out of view from over the pews. "Jay?" she says hesitantly, a little humor in her voice.
Jay grunts once, then pushes himself up, dusting off his hands and jeans, glancing over to her. "Yah?" He asks, his hair streaked with sweat, his chest heaving up and down with each breath. "Whats up?"
Yi laughs softly and shakes her head, walking down the aisle to join the ahroun. "Exercising to pass the time?"
Jay nods his head, taking another breath, his arms and chest flecked with goosebumps from the sudden cold after the rush. Grinning a bit, he wipes his brow off with the back of his hand. "Crunchy says I gotta start lifting cars."
Yi blinks for a moment, wondering what Jay means by the term 'lifting'. Her first night here, she and Kaz 'lifted' things at a grocery store. "Lifting cars? Would you not get caught by the police?" she inquires with a small quirk of her head in an almost lupine fashion.
Jay blinks slightly, then shakes his head with a laugh. "No... I mean... picking them up... He says I can get stronger picking up cars." He grins, sliding down into a pew, picking up his shirt and wipes down his chest.
Yi nods and laughs, realizing her mistake. "There are maybe, other less noticed ways of getting stronger, na?" she notes, getting the mental image of Jay lifting cars at random as he walks down the city streets. "And some of the strength, is not all about muscle. Some of it, must come from here." She places a palm over her heart and pats a few times.
Jay nods his head with a chuckles. "Yup.. I know that well Mulan. I have a lotta heart too." Leaning back, he takes a deep breath, then smiles. "I was kidding about the cars thing. I'm content in working out the conventinal, easy way of lifting weights and doing push ups." Canting his head to the side, he turns his gaze to rest upon hers.
Yi shifts over to a pew and sits, gazing and smiling at the sweaty ahroun. "Perhaps I should also work on training. Si-fu would not be approving of my relaxations these days."
Jay raises a brow slightly as he stretches his arms up, tucking his hands back behind his head as he relaxes comfortably. "Si-Fu? Is that your mentor?"
Yi nods, blinking in thought. "A kinfolk, who teaches self-defense. Grandmother Rui insisted that all of our Sept learn some techniques to fight with."
Jay nods his head and hmms to himself. "Thats cool, maybe ya can teach me a few things too.. Hey..do you dance by the way?" He throws the question out.
Yi raises a brow at the question. "Dance?" she giggles at the thought. "I've never danced before, no. Unless you speak of dancing around blades." She grins, brushing a hand through her hair while wondering just how spontaneous the ahroun could be.
Jay grins. "No.. I mean actual dancing. Lets make a deal. You teach me kung fu, because I feel that it'd help in combat, and I'll help teach you how to dance." His eyes glow with a hint of mischeviousness.
Yi puts a hand to her chin in that classic thinker pose. "How to dance..." she murmurs, forming a few mental images.
Jay nods his head and grins, putting his shirt down next to him. "Yah, its not that hard actually, and I hit the clubs every once in awhile. That is, if your into loud, techno music of the sorts." Wetting his lips with a swipe of his tongue, he reaches for his bag.
Yi looks at Jay as he reaches down for his bag. "Techno?" her question comes out with a curiosity at the new term. She knows of clubs, though, from her mother's job. "I do not know a lot of techniques, though... kung fu, I mean."
Jay grins at her and shrugs. "Then teach me whatever it is you know." He takes out a small recorder, then presses play on it. Dance, technoish, trance music pours out of the worn down speakers. "Thats Techno."
Yi blinks for a moment, listening to the sheer jargon of the mixes. Then, she closes her eyes, feeling the beat of the music echoing through the church, swaying slightly along. She opens her eyes and grins at the ahroun. "You can dance to this?"
Jay nods his head and grins, glancing over to her, then pushes himself up. "Sure.. C'mere. I'll teach ya right now if you want." His eyes light up playfully as he dusts off his jeans once more.
Yi pulls a bit of hair behind her ear, and jumps off from her seat on the back of the pew. She stands next to the bag and looks at Jay with tilting her head a little to the side curiously. "Okay," she smiles.
Jay reaches over and turns the volume up a bit on the recorder, then walks over to her. "When you dance to this kind of stuff, its mostly all hips and arms. When dancing with your partner, usaully the female leads and the guy follows along, but keep eye contact." He smiles. Bobbing his head a bit, he steps up to her. Reaching out, he slides his hands around her waist, stepping into her, then bumps their hips together slightly. "Kinda just go from left to right, bend the knees a bit, lift your arms and sway. Try an follow the beat, the bass of the music."
Yi stands rather stiffily as his hands reach around her waist and he bumps into her. Her eyes blink into his bewildered at first, but she tries to concentrate more on the music than the closeness of their contact. "Just..sway?" She lifts her arms a little bit over her head and sways a little offbeat.
Jay chuckles and helps guide her into the beat, using his hands to push with her hips, swaying from side to side. His body dips down along with the rhythem, his eyes not once losing eye contact. Grinning, his hands slide off her hips, then to her arms, drawing them up a bit straighter, his movements still following, like a cats. "Just sway, as the beat picks up, move faster. Put a lil bit of a twist into your hips, a down and up motion."
Yi sways more into the beat now, gazing into his opaque eyes and trying to maintain the constant line of sight between the two of them. To do this of course, she'd have to move with him, and does so, gradually picking the beat up as the music gets faster, coordinating her movement with his.
Jay continues to dance with her as his hands slip down from hers, then around her waist, his hips moving up against hers as he guides. "Not hard eh?" He says, chuckling loudly in his throat as his chest continues to rise and fall with each passing breath he takes. His fingers trickle up her spine playfully, his eyes shining. "Cool, cool."
Yi gazes back at him, her eyes solidly kept on his in an effort to keep the fluid line of movement smooth. "It is not hard, once the... music is felt." Her hips and body swing along with his, hair wafting this way and that as the two of them dance along the church floor.
[Hah, you thought that was going somewhere? Nope... end log.]
