The sound of a harmonica fills the barn. Nevada sits up in the hayloft, crosslegged, playing away. The song is bluesy.
Yi pokes her head in the barn as she goes exploring around the caern, drawn in by the music being played. She walks in with a soft crunch of her foot against some dry hay, and blinks for a moment before taking a look around.
Nevada plays on, oblivious. He has strands of hay in his hair, and his uncharacteristically nice clothes look a little more Gnawerly, having some scrapes around the knees.
Yi jogs in a little further within the barn, enjoying the soft crunching noise under her shoes as her eyes gaze about. She'd never seen a barn before, the curious, awed light in her eye proving it though her nose wrinkles slightly in the musty smell. She turns her gaze upward as she nears the underside of the hayloft's hole, looking upward to see who is playing the blues.
Nevada belatedly notices he isn't alone, playing distractedly as his wandering eyes drift and find Yi. The harmonica song shifts a little from the blues, sounding a few almost friendly, questioning notes.
Yi looks up at Nevada, smiling and blinking a couple of stray wisps of hair away. "Hello," she says with a short wave.
Nevada takes the harmonica from his lips, peering down at her. "Hey," he says, returning the smile easily. "If y'come t'tip cows, sorry. Dere ain't none here."
Kaz enters the ground level of the barn through one of the doors. Kaz has arrived.
Jay limps into the loft, grumbling slightly under his breath. His bangs seem to have been spilt along his face, his eyes tired and weary.
Yi ponders whether to try and test her jumping height by leaping for the hayloft hole, but thinks better of it and finds the ladder instead, zipping up quickly along the rungs. She pauses at the top, seeing Jay as well as Nevada, and cracks a grin.
The hayloft is a comfortable, roomy place, a big battered duffel bag in one corner. Nevada sits crosslegged near it, harmonica in hand. "Well, hi dere Speedy. I'm Nevada." He offers a hand.
Jay heads over to Nevada, chucking a rock at him, smirking, letting his eyes trail down to the first floor, finding Yi. A smile tugs upon his features, then turns to his cub once more.
Yi takes the cub's hand and gets up into the loft. Shen nods in thanks, and replies with her own intro though the cub probably heard it at the moot. "Song Yi Ling, though if you want, you can call me Mulan like Jay." She laughs softly.
"You're Mulan?" Nevada grins. "Didn't recognize ya f'second... I mean, wit'out fur. How ya do-- " A stone bounces off his blond head. He glances sharply around, a vengeful look homing in on the Ahroun. "Jaywalk, you ass!" comes his enthusiastic greeting.
Yi winces just slightly as the stone bounces off Nevada's head. She looks puzzled as the cub greets the ahroun enthusiastically despite the rock.
For those who say Gnawers can sleep anywhere, for proof we have Kaz, parked behind a haybale, sleeping through Gnawers upstairs.
Jay smirks as he limps over to him, the pain obvious as one hand touches his stomach. "You deserved it for eating up the last of my butterfingers the other day before I kicked ya out." Smirking, he grunts, the glabro Jay sinking down to his knees slowly.
Yi smiles and stifles a chuckle, flicking away a few strands of hair. "Are you feeling well, Jay?" she inquires. Moving over to a haybale, she sits down but immediately jumps back up with a yelp. First time she's sat on dry hay too.
Nevada rolls his eyes. He turns to Yi, saying, "Nevada Madison, Galliard o'the Bone Gnawers, we mets already, an I didn' eat no Buttafingas." He flashes a grin at Jay, then glances amusedly at Yi. "Yalright dere Mulan?"
Jay smirks slightly. "Yah Mulan, not like *you* have four cracked and broken ribs like I do right now." He coughs slightly, rubbing his stomach slowly as he leans against Yi slightly, yawning painfully.
Yi eyes the hay bale like there was some spiny bane just wanting her to sit back down. She opts to sit a couple of inches away from the large bulk. "I'm okay," she says a little hesitantly. "This is your house, Nevada?" she asks with a bit of wonder.
[From afar, to the room, Max has a question. I heard the barn was partially burned last night. Is that so?
Kaz pages to the room: Oh, heck, I forgot.
From afar, to the room, Nevada wasn't able to make it last night, has no idea.
Kaz pages to the room: Check out the most recent Walk posting, yeah.
From afar, to the room, Nevada facepalms ;)
Kaz pages to the room: bbread/walk new -- which'll spam you, but it's the last pst, so.]

21 Lysander Wed Oct 18 22:07:16 Fire on the Bawn!
Another blaze struck the bawn while the majority of the sept was off on Revel. A large portion of the fields behind the farmhouse went up, and one face of the barn itself was damaged by fire. The farmhouse itself was spared through the quick action of the Guardians.

[Kaz pages to the room: Or Nev's!
Nevada pages to the room: One face was burned, it said.
Max pages to the room: Okay. So just smoky and blackened outside.
Nevada pages to the room: It should still be OK then, the desc says it's a huge place. It ought to be a little crispy. :)
Jay pages to the room: Oh yah, I heard about that.
You paged the room with 'Doesn't say which one, eh. Yeah, Ethan told me that Spirals attacked the caern while we were at the revel.'.
From afar, to the room, Kaz nods. Ashes floating around a bit.
Long distance to the room: Yi will feel sorry for Nevada if he says it's his house. ;)]
Nevada laughs a little. "Na, ain't my house. Dis th'Cow House." He looks Jay over, scrutinizingly. "Y'just keep on gettin all bang up, don't ya, bro?"
Jay nods his head and shrugs his shoulders. "Yah well.... thats my job. I told ya nevada..ya ganna get that dream cast real soon at this pace."
Yi forms a silent oh at Nevada's reply, glancing at the slightly charred section of the barnhouse. "Hopefully Jay will not think his job is to get beat up by banes too much," she comments with a smirk on her face and a soft nudge against her 'brother's' shoulder.
Jay grumbles lightly as he leans back, rubbing his stomach. "I'll be fine by tomorrow..anyways.. my job *is* to fight, so beating up comes with the territory. After the first few times, you kinda forget what pain is alla'bout."
Max slips in through the barn door, leaving it to slowly swing closed again behind her. She narrows her eyes and wrinkles her nose. "Someone been burning Christmas socks in here?" She meanders over to thwap Nevada lightly on the back of the head before scanning the rest of the barn. "Anyone seen Zee?"
Yi glances at the fast-talking cub and blinks again as she gives Nevada a thwock on the head. She shakes her head slightly, not really understanding the hitting as 'affection pats' that are exchanged amongst these Gnawers. "I've not seen... Zee," she answers the other no-moon.
"Oh bullshit," Nevada is saying with a playful grin,"Don't y'go all poetic an angsty, Jaybird. Y'should write cards f'Hallmark." He rubs the back of his head a little, more to rearrange his hair. "Hey. Y'talkin bout Kazbo? Ain't seen ha."
Jay smirks and glances over to Max, waving to her slightly. "Yo chicky, wassup? Ya coo'? Staying outta trouble?" Leaning back, he grunts as the broken bones rub up against each other, then shoves Nevada to the side slightly, grumbling about hallmark my ass.
Yi runs a hand through her hair slowly as her mind tries to extricate the sudden change of normal English.
Max huhs looking around the loft. "Maybe the super-pack already went out to kick ass." The cub looks disappointed, going over to settle down with her legs hanging over the loft after mock-saluting both cliaths.
Kaz turns over and runs into the haybale. Half awake, she mutters "Fucker" at it and rolls over again.
Yi perks up slightly, her head turning as she thought she heard a fourth voice from down below.
It only takes a blink and Max isn't on the edge of the loft anymore. There's a thump and a grunt as the slight cub hits the main floor of the barn, muttering an obscenity to herself before turning and diving at Kaz's legs.
Jay blinks slightly at Max, raising a brow upwards, then leans back, planting his hands behind him. "You know..... nevada...were..'we' ever that close?" He questions, glancing over to his cub.
Kaz, not at all awake yet, just sort of blinks as Max thuds down next to her and dives at her legs. "Whu?" she says, coherently.
Yi stands up from her spot in a flash as Max just dives down to the floor. Her eyes search for the cub through the hayloft hole, but find the opening barn doors instead, and Elan.
From somewhere, Max has produced a black permanent marker and is beginning to draw lightning bolts around the bottom edge of one of Kaz's pantlegs as she awakens. "You gotta thing tonight, huh Zee?" Wake up call.
Nevada looks appreciatingly at Max's Geronimo dive. Cool. He glances at Jay and laughs. "Well, I wouln't jump off a barn f'you, naa," he says. "Maybe chuck dis harmonica at ya dumb ass head though." He reaches an arm back as if winding up for a throw.
Kaz watches Max draw on her rather muzzily. "Uh. Yeah. Like, soon soon. When'd you get here, anyways?"
Allie invades the barn, in a sense. The door opens and closes, showing an arriving Allie, however--for those who have known her, at least for a small amount of time--she seems different. She glances about the barn, and then grins, however vaguely She clears her throat, then, announcing, "I have something to say..."
Jay thinks about shoving Nevada off the side of the loft, but, he loves the lil shit head. Instead, he reaches over, tugging the hellion into his strong arms, giving him a quick hug first, then a noogie. "Its been two days since you've been outta my house and I miss you already kiddo."
Max sticks her tongue out of the side of her mouth and adds little cartoon rat faces replete with whiskers and a toothy snarl. Allie's pronouncement earns her a brief glance from the Gnawer cub. "Just a few. Not long."
Allie, waiting for attention, just stays quiet for a moment until she announces, "Hi, I'm Allie, known as Nebet-het Guides-the-Dead, cliath Philodox of the Silent Striders." Her voice is sober, and she seems excited in her own (recently) quiet way.
Kaz moves enough to sit up, and watches Allie, eyebrow raised curiously under her hair.
Elan smiles a bit at the announcement. "Congratulations, Nebet."
Jay whistles loudly. "Cool shit Allie-Cat. I'm proud o yah!" NOOGIES some more on Nevada's head.
"Shut up," Allie says to Jay, squinting, mouth still upturned into a grin. With a point to Nevada, she remarks, "I pity him."
Kaz says, "Rockin'!" and then gives Max a small, if not particularly comforting, grin. "I gotta get outta here, Max. See y'later, huh?"
"Miss me do ya? Ah geez, get a blow up doll," Nevada advises Jay, squirming out of the Ahroun's messing up of his hair. He smooths it back down, then grins and gives him a cuff in the head before his attention finds Allie. "Congrats, Blinky!" he calls, applauding.
Yi takes a moment to grip the edge of the wood before jumping down to the main floor of the barn. She smiles and nods her head approvingly. "My congratualtions, Guides-the-Dead-yuf."
Max nibbles on her lip, recapping her pen and releasing Kaz's leg. "You sure I ain't allowed?"
Jay looks over and waves to Elan, another huge grin spreading along his face. He's glad to see the Elder, still reveling over the 'brother' comment he got earlier from him, even though it was a few days ago.
Her announcement is made. Allie laughs, says, "Thanks," and flees out the door.
Allie leaves the barn through one of the doors. Allie has left.
Kaz, standing, shakes her head. "Not on this shit, you ain't. Y'can risk y'neck soon enough, Max. Don' go lookin' t'do it 'fore you know how." She sort of blinks at the conglomeration of people, says a general "Yo," and heads out, after Allie.
Elan, meanwhile, looks to the rest. "How you guys been doing?"
"We've been doing really good actually... Hey Elan.. I owe you a pizza.. I want to thank you for teaching me the past month." Jason says with a huge grin, drawing a knee up to his chest, then winces painfully, forgetting about the broken ribs for a moment.
Max pushes to her feet, looking sidelong at the door after Kaz leaves, a ragabash-plotting sort of flash in her eyes. Then she simply stuffs the Sharpie in her pocket and sticks her hand in to her shirt to pull out a silvery colored lighter. Elan gets another of those sidelong sort of glances and she begins meandering (read that: pacing) around the barn, flicking the lighter opened and closed with metal chinking sounds. "Yo, bossman," comes a quiet greeting from Max in response to Elan's inquiry.
Yi find a support pole to lean against, and looks at the packed ground for a bit. "The night is finding this one well, Shadow Eyes-rhya. Thinking about tomorrow's plans for the sewer scouting," her voice a low, more somber tone in the presence of the elder. "Will the no-moons of the other tribes come as well?"
Elan shakes his head. "No, not that I can get. Ethan is still recovering from wounds on the Revel and may in fact go on another fight tonight. Collin is out of town right now."
Nevada dangles his legs off the edge of the loft, absently picking pieces of hay from his clothes. His wandering attention has flicked to Max, moreso what she is carrying around. He looks twice at the haybales and once at her lighter. He tries not to appear too worried.
Yi nods in acknowledgement to these two facts. "When should we depart?" she asks the elder, looking for a little direction. Yi's wandering gaze glances up at Nevada and follows the gibbous cub's gaze over to Max. She raises an eyebrow at the cub, not seeing anything to worry about.
Max seems deft enough with the lighter. One of her circuits of the barn finds the cub over beside Elan, where she stops. "You not fightin' tonight?"
Elan shakes his head. "I don't know. If you cannot go with another no-moon I would prefer you not go. The sewers are very dangerous. You are a cliath, however, and I trust your instincts."
"You an Jay gonna kick some ass in the sewers?" Nevada smirks at Yi. "Banes? Monstas? Bad shit? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Make sure ya kick dem ass too, mosta all."
Yi ponders over her elder's words as she looks back to the floor for a few moments of silence. "The sewers will always be dangerous. Which city, Hong Kong or St. Claire, does not matter. The Wyrm is the Wyrm," she says softly, as if mostly telling herself. She looks up at Nevada and then Max. "I will still go, tomorrow, Shadow Eyes-rhya. As I told Jay and the others, 'If you leave a piece of meat to rot, the flies will soon come to bite your ears.'"
A bit grumpy, Max doesn't wait much longer for her answer, turning and heading out of the barn.
Elan says "Since Banecruncher told you to go, hopefully he can go himself." "We're not going to fight in the sewer," the no-moon notes. "We're only going to scout." She glances at Elan, a slightly hesitant pause as he mentions the lupus ahroun. "It may be wiser for a more experienced Garou to accompany us..." she says, her words coming slowly, "but two ahrouns in this mission, may be a little too much for this no-moon to keep in line." She chuckles softly, running a hand through her hair in her way of easing tension.
Elan smiles a bit. "The ahrouns cannot keep themselves hidden from spirit eyes. With the sheer number of banes in the sewers, you will be seen and if you are seen there will be a fight. I'm just sayin; is all."
Yi nods, leaning a little more into the support pole. "We've not come up with a starting point as well, but Jay and I think it best to start close to the bawn, since it is said banes are being sent to the farmhouse." Her voice trails off in thought.
Yi walks over to the barn door, opens in just enough to slip through, and departs.
