Rotem leads Leonard back towards one of the alleys and jumps up to sit on a dumpster. They still have a fairly good view of the street. "Come sit down, and I'll try to explain some things."
Leonard glances back over his shoulder, then sits, looking at Rotem expectantly.
Rotem motions towards several women working the corner. "Those ladies, they are fine. They're looking out for themselves. They don't want any trouble, and will avoid it in any way they can." the cub leans back. "They could see a murder right in front of them, and most would just claim not to have noticed anything. To avoid getting in danger." the cub then motions to one of the pimps now, overly clad in gold chains. "Now he's different then the girls."
Rotem pages to the room: Sitting on a dumpster. Where an alley meets with the street.
Leonard nods, slowly, scratching his neck. His eyes move from the women to the man.
Rotem pulls his hand back as Leonard picks up on the proper person. "He is the one who protects those women if there is trouble. If you're hurting one of the girls, he'll come to hurt you." the cub shrugs. "They almost always carry thundersticks. So try to avoid them. But unless you're hurting the girls, or the man himself, they will stay out of just about anything."
The pimp in question, strides over to the two ladies and talks with them in some loud tones. He acts big, talks big, and is big. One would guesstimate, 300 lbs, though 25 of that might be fake gold. Two skinnier but muscled guys pretend to be idle, being in some slightly more normal looking clothing, they occassionally flirt with one of the women who flirt back.
Leonard huhs, then glances at you amusedly. "Thundersticks? You mean guns?"
Rotem blinks. "Oh, yeah. Just translating." the cub shakes his head. "Sorry." then moving on he motions to the two men trying to look inconspicuous. "Now them, those guys who are just hanging about doing more or less nothing?" the cub points. "They are the ones to keep clear of. They are one of three things. Just some guys, which isn't a problem. They might be working for that pimp over there." the ahroun motions back to the pimp. "In which c-case they would be carrying guns as well." Then the cub pauses, letting this sink in. "Or worst, they could be undercover cops. Then they would definitely be p-packing heat, and they would g-get involved in just about a-anything."
Leonard huhs. He nods. "Alright. So don't mess with or talk to anybody."
BANG! One of the metal doors to a local nightclub is kicked open and a man shoved out. There's some laughing, and some whooping as five more follow and spill into the alley.
Leonard blinks, head swivelling to where the commotion comes from.
Rotem chuckles. "That isn't always true. But just like in the woods, you have risks." the cub leans back against the building now. "Its like with the deer. You can hunt them, but they can run, or kick you." The cub's speech is interrupted as the group come spilling out. In a near reflexive movment the cub grabs a handful of Leonard's clothing and rolls backwards, taking the two of them down and disappearing into the dumpster quickly.
Leonard oofs and thuds, blinking. He looks at Rotem like he's gone nuts.
Rotem presses his finger to his lips, a silent 'shhh' gesture. In a soft whisper. "This sounds like t-trouble. Now you don't get involved in other people's trouble unless it looks like they are going to kill someone. And even then, be careful." The cub moves to the edge of the dumpster, "When our kind gets involved, someone often ends up dead anyway. " And with this the cub sticks his head out to look at the gathering.
The pimp and his two men turn their heads as well, the ladies quickly moving off to a safer spot where they can watch but not get involved. The man shoved out stumbles up to his feet, evidently hurt in some ways more than one. The five guys take up some positions, two with baseball bats and another grabbing a chain off one of the pipes. Words, taunting but in another language are exchanged and with a thud, a bat meets the man's ribs and he goes down into the muck with a dull whuff.
Leonard watches Rotem, the raises his cautiously to look as well. He winces as the man's hit in the ribs.
Rotem motions for Leonard to join him, as they watch the gathering. "This isn't our fight. But that man has no chance against them." the cub turns to Leonard. "You've heard my piece on when to get involved. Now you're the elder, so I'll let you decide. Do we get involved and try to stop those men, or do we let them keep beating that guy?" the cub then adds, "And remember, we're in public, you'll have to protect the veil. And they might have guns."
Leonard nods. "I don't know." He glances at the two men who were flirting with the hookers. "I don't think they're cops, though."
Another strides out of the open metal door, wearing a medium long jacket of snakeskin, probably fake but it's equally hard to tell in the dull light. As the beaten man kneels with hands clutched over his ribs, a kick from a heavy boot sends him sprawling back and panting with hurt. The five guys give the sixth a large area, the sixth leaning down just barely. "Tsk tsk tsk," comes the clucking with derision. "I told you, that if you didn't have it tonight, someone would get hurt. But... I'm glad you came anyway, because now we can clarify -who- that will be." A short scream of pain as the man's nads and stepped on and ground by a heavy boot. It's cut off as a bat gets shoved at his windpipe. He chokes, gasping for air.
Rotem turns Leonard's head back over towards the fight breaking out. "Them, silly." the cub motions to the group with the pipes and chains. "Do we let them hurt the man or not?" the cub motions to the group. "Seems that poor man owes the other money, and doesn't have anything to pay them back with. So, do we intervene?" The cub looks to Leonard. "These are the decisions you have to make everyday in the city. No time to think about this. Decide. It's up to you. Decide. Decide." Yes, the cub is adding pressure to the Wendigo's prediciment, but it is good practice for city life.
Leonard winces again, glancing at Rotem, then shaking his head. "Get to a phone and call the police. Saving the Veil will get us both killed, here. And we don't even know why they're beating him up."
Rotem nods. "As you wish, Rhya." The cub moves to the other end of the dumpster and starts to climb out. "Unfortunately for that man, the cops take a long time to get to this part of the city." the cub shrugs. "Let's go," he comments, moving over towards the nearest pay phone.
"I...*choke* .. Carlos didn't give me.. *gasp* my.." A boot to the head to silence him. "No excuses. I gave your 'amigo' two weeks to give me what I wanted. But apparently you aren't the man I need to talk to for it. Where's Carlos?" comes the query, just playfully curious now with the derision curtained over. "He's dead, so I have to ask Jua--" Kick. Cry of pain. "Jua? How'd Carlos die, hm? Chihuahua-Juan must think he's very funny, moving to a basement of a church. Only to get kicked out for some reason eh? What happened?"
Leonard follows Rotem, shrugging. He whispers, "What do you want me to do, get us both killed? You're just a cub, not even my cub, and I'm responsible for you, and I don't know enough to just jump in."
Rotem freezes in his tracks, at the entrance of the alleyway. The cub turns back towards the group. He whispers to Leonard. "Shut up. Not now." he says and turns back into the alley, slipping into the shadows, trying to listen.
Leonard flattens himself against a wall, looking at Rotem, then cocking an ear to the conversation to see what's suddenly so interesting.
The five thugs take some turns, literally beating the information out of the poor man whose bloodied, whimpering form replies as best he can while pain flashes through his body and messes with his mind. "Some people, already living there..." coughs out the man with a short whimper as his jaw throbs. "Two of them.. some ugly girl and her boyfriend.. I don't know.." The leader of the thugs looks very interested, the smile of curiosity widening. "Go on... a girl and her boyfriend? What were they doing in a.. well, that's rather obvious eh?" The leader looks up and the thugs laugh. "So, they kicked you out? Even Juan? And killed Carlos too... that's quite impressive. Who are they?" The man whimpers again, shaking his head slightly, "I don't know.. I do--" CRACK. "AAAArrgh!" That leg shouldn't be -that- way.
Leonard clenches his jaw a the noise of the broken bone, reminding himself these are all Wyrmcomers and that's what they do.
Rotem clenches his fists, inching closer to listen. He remains silent. The cub has no problem letting /this/ group kill each other off.
Leonard remains silent as well, trying to sneak a peek around the corner without being seen.
"So, a girl and her boyfriend, let's say lightly, 'making out' in the haunted church downtown, kicked out Juan's gang? Now that's something eh?" The leader bends down, lifting up the guy by the front of his shirt who hangs rather loosely. In a swift move the leader kicks the guy and he splats against the brick wall on the other side of the alley. The five thugs cheer. "Don't play me for a fool, Benito. I think Juan is hiding my share of the deal in that church basement. Pity he sends his sniveling cowards to try and lie to me." Benito tries to speak, but splutters and coughs blood.
You paged the room with 'Oh.. they're men. Probably 20s.'.
You paged the room with 'Benito looks young, 18 or so.'.
Rotem growls at this. He sighs and back out of the alley with Leonard. "You stay here, keep an eye on them. Don't get involved. And don't lose them." The cub says. "I'm going to get help. Yi, Jarred, whoever I can find. We need to deal with this. I'll explain later." and with that, the cub is off, heading towards the church.
You paged the room with 'The leader himself is wearing a black fake snakeskin jacket. Dark hair slicked back, typically, and black slacks and nice shoes. He's rich. Rings on his fingers, even a nice watch that can be seen occassionally.'.
Leonard blinks, watching as Rotem leaves him alone, outnumbered six to one, armed only with a bone knife. He looks around the alley and out at the street for anyone that may be watching him.
Leonard pages to the room: IF I don't see anyone I'm gonna duck in the dumpster and come out in glabro.
From above, a stone drops on Rotem's head and clunks to the floor.
You paged the room with 'Keep in mind there are two ladies watching from a safespot across the street. The pimp and his guys are beside them. They might see.'.
From afar, to the room, Leonard stays in homid.
Rotem looks up, wondering where the stone came from. He stops in his tracks yet again.
Leonard glances up as well, squinting.
The stone itself is smooth, round and newmoon black. From above, Yi's face can be seen slightly lighted by the nightclub's sign. She waves briefly, signalling for Rotem to go back to his spot then disappears again over the side of the rooftop.
Leonard breathes a sigh of relief and waves back, turning to watch the spectacle.
Rotem grins, seeing Yi, although he doesn't return to Leonard's side. The cub crosses the street, moving over towards the onlookers. "What'choo looking at?" he asks, in a deeper then necessary voice. "I dun remember the boss inviting you to watch." His hands rest on his hips. "I think you should get lost. You don't want to see what's going on here. You should go home for a couple of hours."
Rotem pages to the room: Using persuasion, or attempting to at least.
Thud, scream, whimper, laughing. It's all a blur to Benito now, interspersed with clarity of pain and mocking questions from the leader. After a little while, they pause again and the leader has two of the thugs lift up Benito as both his legs are duly cracked. He's held against the wall. The leader spits on him. "So, should I kill you now, or should we leave him on Juan's doorstep at the church?" The question goes out to the five thugs answer in various whoops and laughs, including going to the church to pay a visit to Juan. "That might be a good idea, Dino," comes the leader's answer, smooth as silk and deadly as snake venom. "But first, we have to wrap this up."
"Fuck you, you're watching as much as we are," comes one of the ladies' replies before the pimp can answer. The big man shushes the girl with a grope of her ass, but that results in a pleasurable cry of surprise. The thugs turn their heads towards the sound, and the snakeskin jacketed leader spits on Benito again before motioning two of the thugs to investigate. One with a chain and another with a bat move towards the alley entrance and dumpster.
Leonard closes his eyes and concentrates.
From afar, Leonard's voice echoes in your mind. What should we do here? Are they talking about your place?
If any are watching the edge of the rooftop, one can see the slight waving of a staff, the end of it a blue bandanna. It pauses.
Rotem sighs, unable to displace the girls from their turf, the cub returns back towards Leonard's side. Not wanting to leave him along too long. Only then does he notice the approaching thugs.
Leonard seems to be doing some serious thinking and doesn't notice the thugs approach.
Long distance to Leonard: Yi answers quietly, that the snakeskin jacketed leader is the owner of the nightclub. The pimp across the street is just a frequenter, who buys drugs from him. You also have two thugs coming after you... so take them out if you can. I'll split up the others. Be careful.
Rotem taps Leonard on the back, pulling him towards the shadows. The cub following suite.
Long distance to Leonard: Yi adds, that they are talking about the church yes. We had some trouble with a gang before. Territory problems.
Leonard blinks, shaking his head and letting Rotem pull him back, whispering to him, "Yi says to take these two out."
Rotem grins, more then happy that they stopped at the church, several knives are fished out of his pack, and two are handed to Leonard. In Rotem's hand he clutches a switchblade and a rather fierce looking dagger.
Leonard tucks one in his boot and holds the other like he knows what to do with it, point down, and crouches behind the dumpster.
The two thugs almost swagger, though it's a cautious swaggering effaced with fear-inspired confidence. One of the thugs shouts at the watchers. "Get the fuck outta here, bitches! The boss don't want no peeping toms and tammies." The pimp and his two bodyguards almost retort, but something seems to make them shut their mouths and indeed move off. The girls follow, spooked as their 'protection' leaves. The two thugs stop at the bare edge of the dumpster, watching with some laughs. "She has a nice ass," remarks one to the other before they both turn back towards the action further down the alley.
You paged the room with 'Their backs are turned towards you.'.
Leonard motions to the one on the left, then leaps over the dumpster, wrapping one arm around the head of the one he's called and using the knife to slit his throat, trusting Rotem to take care of the other one.
Rotem waves towards Leonard, fingers out. 1. Then 2. Then 3. And with that the cub jumps out onto the back of the first thug, using the dagger in an attempt to give the man a ghetto smile. While the other, smaller knife is wedged into the mands shoulder, to support his body."
"Wha--*Gurgle*" The two thugs are pretty out, smiling out of their throats bloodily. The chain and bat in their hands tumble to the ground with a wooden clunk and metal clink. The snakeskin leader turns his head again at the sound, first annoyed then surprised. "Who in the fuck?" The three thugs left leave Benito to collapse onto the ground as they reach behind themselves to get their guns. A whooping cry from above sends all faces up as Yi drops down heavily on the one closest to the entrance. "YAhaa!" The whirr of a staff in hand is followed with the crack of wood against one thug's jaw as the nomoon's weapon sends the guy sprawling on top of Benito. The next thug gets the other end of the staff in the gut, his gun falling out of his hands with a clink to the floor.
Bang! Yi releases a cry of pain, crashing up against a crate and flipping back behind it. The snakeskin leader stands there with gun in hand, surprise being quickly replaced by fearful confidence.
Long distance to Leonard: Yi basically, ows mentally too.
Leonard lowers his victim quietly to the ground, turning him over so he lands facedown and wiping the knife on his pack. He grabs the bat and stands, hearing Yi's attack, and rushes towards the far end of the alley upon hearing the shot and her cry, eyes narrowed dangerously. He makes right for the guy standing with the gun.
Rotem lifts the chain, dragging it noisily behind him as he approaches the gang leader, growling lowly. The cub rushes down towards him alongside Leonard. All those days of running finnally paying off. The chain is brought back and then snapped forwards in a whip like motion.
Bang! Bang! Bang! The snakeskin leader unloads bullets in the two Garou's general direction as he quickly bangs on the metal door. "OPEN THE FUCK UP!" The first three bullets get unloaded at Rotem. He shouts, looking up panicked. A few more seconds and he'll be in big trouble. The winded thug reaches for his gun on the floor, and aims towards Leonard. Bang! Bang! Wood splinters and goes flying into the air.
Rotem goes down as the first bullet hits his shoulder, knocking him to the floor, the chain falling from his hand, but the momentum sending the metal length flying at the leader. The cub takes another bullet to the thigh as he goes down, the last one missing, high above him as he lays upon the floor. His new possition allowing him to notice things like the sky.. and the lack of spectators. And with that the cub is blurring, shifting up to glabro, as he struggles to keep from frenzying.
Leonard keeps running as the bullets whine, flinching momentarily. He raises the baseball bat and swings down hard at the winded thug's head, gritting his teeth.
As the leader bangs again, the end of the chain hits him duly in his raised arm, sending him sprawling with a cry. The thug has just enough time to raise his arm as the bat cracks against it and he screams. Wuss. The gun in the other hand raises and unloads again at Leonard's midsection to close point blank range. BANG BANG BANG! The metal door swings open, as three more guys spill into the alley way with knives and guns.
A staff cracks down on the formerly winded thug's arm, the other end whirling to smack the first guy coming out from the door with a crack to his knee. The scream of pain is dulled with a merciful thud of wood against his head to knock him out. There's a cry again from Yi as she kicks the second guy back into club way and kicks the door closed, smacking against it with her back. "Let's go, down the alleyway over the wall." She motions with her staff. "Hurry!"
The snakeskin jacketed leader is already down at the far end, running.
Rotem stumbles up and to hi feet, running off down the alley as well, knives held clumsily. The cub's pack straining on his back. He tries to keep up with the others.
Leonard folds, down to his knees, eyes wide with pain and rage. He stares the man in the face and jams the knife right into his eye to the hilt, a low growl escaping his lips despite himself.
From afar, Leonard can't help but shift after taking four bullets. Ack.
The thug's head falls back with a squelch and he lies still. Yi can't hold the door very long, and she moves to help Leonard up and pushes him down the alley. "Go!" She shoves Rotem after him, turning to hold the rear as the metal door flies open again. She ducks as bullets ring into the alley, followed by two guys and a very heavily muscled bouncer it looks like. Meanwhile, the leader is up at the wall top, shouting orders. "Kill 'em!"
The cub runs off the alley. Crushing cardboard boxes under his feet, and heading for the gang leader. The smaller knife thrust into the man's foot as the cub attempts to climb up.
Leonard stands up, and up, and up. He sure seems a lot bigger now than he did before, but hey, things like that happen in a fight. Right? Six feet tall and heavily muscled, front of his shirt bloody, he wrenches the gun from the dead man's hand and stumbles as Yi pushes him, one hand going to his stomach as the other raises and empties the gun held within at the shouting leader.
Leonard pages to the room: Uh oh. Len has zero experience with hand guns so Rotem might be catching some lead.
"ARGH!" Snakeskin leader falls, backwards over the other side but his foot is caught..and rips off. There's a dull thud on the other side to signify he hit the floor. Bang! Bang! Click click click...Two shots left, one ricocheting off the wall while the other sinks itself into Rotem's glabroed shoulder.
Rotem hangs from the wall by his other hand, holding onto the knife, growling. Two shots in the same spot. This just isn't his day. The cub eventually pulls himself up and over, rolling off the ledge and down, falling down towards the leader.
Meanwhile, Yi fends off another gunwielding thug with a smack of her staff to his groin. Bang! A plug goes into her shoulder and she stumbles back against the wall. Bouncer charges, and sinks a fist into her and sends her flying back to crumple into a crate. The third thug out the door aims at Leonard's back and shoots. Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
People are screaming, pouring out of the nightclub to get out of the supposed gunfire. More henchmen are also coming out of the front entrance and making for the alley. Sirens in the distance.
There's a muffled scream and crunch goes the gangleader under Rotem. For a moment he just twitches, and then the a knife gets sunk into the cub's bicep. "Get off of me!"
Leonard turns and heaves the now-useless gun at the remaining gangsters, taking two more slugs in the chest as he sees Yi fly. He falls to one knee, growling, barely holding the Rage in check at the pain, his packmate falling, the screams of the frightened people inundating his senses with fear... He crawls, using the debris in the alley for cover, towards where Yi has fallen, teeth clenched as if to hold back spitting the monster from his belly and tearing this whole place apart.
From afar, to the room, Leonard spends a will as it to avoid turning into Wendigo Cuisinart.
By now people just want to get away. And some are just too panicked to think of anything else but shooting. Gunfire rings into the alley as multiple shots from multiple guns riddle trashcans, dumpsters, crates, anything in the way. Yi has crawled back behind a dumpster with her head against the metal. As Leonard comes up beside and in front of her she smiles wryly. "Love the city, don't you."
Leonard seems much too concerned, and too close to the edge of frenzy, to notice the joke. He looks her over, noting where she's been shot. "You okay?"
People are pouring out of the nightclub entrance, frightened by the sound of gunfire exploding and echoing into the night. They run rampant over the street, uncaring of the cars which screech to a halt and some moving too fast to stop hit some people. Most of the gunfire is coming from the alleyway beside the night club, where about five men are unloading their guns towards anything. A large bouncer behind them carries a shotgun and waits for some fleshy part to appear.
You paged Marcus with 'Making it so, their backs are turned towards you if you were at the alley entrance. They're about 30 feet down the alley, the henchmen. Yi and Leonard about 20 more feet in, where there's a brick wall about 8 feet high at the end.'.
Yi grins again, looking at her shoulder and arm. "Least it's just the left," her reply comes. A shot grazed her side, but no more than that. "We have to get out of here. Police are coming."
You paged the room with 'Police will be here in 5 minutes.'.
Leonard listens to the gunfire careening around the alley, holding one hand to his blood-darkened stomach. "You run. I'll draw their fire."
Yi looks down at Leonard's stomach and shakes her head. "We both run. We both jump over that wall. There will be no heroes tonight."
Amidst the gunfire, the sound of a car's horn suddenly interupts the night as well. The Columbia cab has its brights on as it weaves among the fleeing club goers, doing everything it can not to hit them. They are not its target, after all. Squealing tires, it guns down the street, turning swiftly into the alley. The gangers are facing down the other end--the closed off end, so they are perhaps caught offguard by the sudden appearance of the barreling car. It doesn't stop. Anyone not able to get out of the way gets run over.
Leonard opens his mouth to argue, then stops, blinking as he hears the car. "What now?" He risks a look down the alley during the distraction.
For a moment, the gunfire wanes as some thugs take the time to reload. They have the two trapped, after all. At the appearance of the cab, they are definitely confused, and blinded at the headlights. The big bouncer with the shotgun isn't fast enough to dodge, getting hit and his giant body rolls over the hood to smash against the windshield. Two more are sent sprawling as one cracks his head open on the dumpster. Someone amidst this is wise enough to open the metal door. The bouncer groans. Yi takes this opportunity of paused gunfire to push Leonard towards the wall. "Go!" She's getting up as she yells, unwaiting for another chance to escape. Police cars peel around the corner far off, gunning towards the scene.
Leonard half-stmbles, half-runs towards the wall, reaching up and pulling, straining to get his bullet-ridden body over the barrier. He finally manages to do so, leaving a bloody smear up and over the top half, falling to the ground on the other side (presmably on top of the now-dead gang leader).
You paged the room with 'Very dead. Er.. I'll just say he was smooshed and then throated.'.
You paged the room with 'With his own knife.'.
Yi waits for Leonard to go over the wall and pauses, squinting to see if she can spot the 'heroic helper'.
You paged Leonard with 'Wall's about 8 foot high.'.
The cab's brakes hit suddenly, tires squealing badly as it comes to a stop before reaching the end of the alley. The bright lights flood the brick wall and illuminate well the escape route. At least, for a second, and then Marcus shuts them down completely and darkness comes back to the end of the alley, shrouding the garou's flight. The cab momentarily blocks what gunfire comes from the front of the alley, an occassional ping of metal the proof of this 'shield'. Marcus' voice comes over the rumble of the engine, "Get in if you can't jump!" A moment later, the cab's transmission makes the crank, *thunk*, into reverse.
The bouncer on the windshield is sent flying forward at the screech of the brakes, landing at Yi's feet. She looks down, startled a moment, then grins wryly at the sound of Marcus' voice. "Thanks! But I'll run from here!" She calls out. "Get the bloody hell out of here!" She uses the cab's hood as a boost as she jumps and kicks off it, hand smacking down against the wall top and hoisting herself up. Just as she is about to jump down the other side, the metal door swings open again and a thug armed with an automatic starts filling the alleyway again with bullets. A couple catch the nomoon in the back and she tumbles off. Other bullets riddle Marcus' cab trunk and shatter windows.
Leonard lifts himself off the dead gang leader gingerly, then oofs as he's knocked back to the ground, providing a cushion at least for Yi's landing.
Marcus doesn't wait for anything further. The cab's engine is gunned again, the moment Yi leaps for the wall. He tries to keep his head down, muttering obscenities as his rear window explodes into fragments. The bastard with the automatic weapon is targeted as he floors it in reverse, attempting to break out of the alley before the cops arrive.
Leonard picks himself up, then Yi, and looks around blankly, totally lost as to which direction to take.
Automatic gunfire turns momentarily as the guy runs out of bullets, and Marcus' cabtrunk sends him flying out of the alleyway into the street. The taxicab makes it out and runs pretty smoothly for a dented car, Marcus making it peal off quicker than greased lightning. The cops round the corner just seconds too late, and are left with quite a mess to clean.
Yi points Leonard down some alleys, taking him into a maze of backstreets only a Gnawer would know. She stumbles few times but with staff in hand can support herself fairly well. The two of them leave little more than traces of blood here and there.
Leonard follows her, totally lost. At least bullet wounds aren't agg; by the time they get to a familiar spot he's stopped bleeding all over the place.
Forgotten Church Basement(#1279RJLM)
This basement is only partly below ground level, and there are windows evenly spaced on the walls, right below the ceiling level. The main part of it is a large open area with a small kitchen in one corner and a large, ratty carpet in the center, covering the cement floor. There is a rather large window in the kitchen; it looks as though it might actually open onto the street. On the wall opposite the kitchen is a large bin, and there are folding tables along the wall perpendicular to it. On the other wall there are a few folding chairs, many fewer than one would expect from the number of tables.
A hallway next to the kitchen leads off to two offices and what once might have been a classroom.

Sanctuary
Yi pauses at a crux between alleyways, and points down some more. "Basement window," she says quietly. "We're at the church."
Leonard looks down, blinking. He glances around the alley, shifts down to homid, and manages to squeeze through the window.
The window itself is easy enough to squeeze through for a normal sized human. Yi follows a moment after and plops onto a stack of blankets she laid there recently. Never know. Finally, in the darkness of the basement, she sighs, and shifts slowly up to a healing form. "What a night."
Leonard nods, leaning against the wall wearily. He plucks as his blood-sodden shirt. "You guys just gave this to me, too. I swear, every time I come into this Gaia-forsaken scab I get injured."
Yi laughs, then coughs up some blood and spits up on the floor. She wipes the edge of her mouth and tosses the staff aside. "It's the city life," she says and groans a moment, feeling bullets in her back.
Leonard shakes his head. "No wonder Rotem didn't want to come back." He leans you forward, looking you over with a frown. "Want me to get those?"
Yi tries to find the entry with her hand, but turns over to do so. The process puts weight on her shot shoulder and she winces. "Please." She hands Leonard a switchblade, opening it for him. "No sense in being a walking metal detector hazard."
Leonard nods, kneeling beside you. "You need something to bite down on, or...?" He takes the switchblade from you, motioning for you to lie down on your stomach.
Yi shakes her head and grips the blanket pile tightly. "Go ahead," she prompts. Leonard sighs, the tip of his tongue just visible out of the corner of his mouth as he looks where to start. This is definitely not like carving wood. He finally makes about an inch-long incision over the rapidly-closing hole, and, wincing a bit, digs in his fingers for the bullet in her shoulder.
And then the window opens again, an injured Rotem slinking down into the basement and laying where he lands. He groans for a moment, catching his breath. The cub remains on the floor, leaning on his backpack, with his blade in hand. He has his legs out, and goes about the gory buisness of removing the bullet from his thigh, he has none of the grace of Leonard's movments, as the knife is unceremoniously thrust into his leg, teeth gritting together as he attempts to remove the bullet.
Leonard pages to the room: You certainly know how to make an entrance ;)
From afar, to the room, Rotem steals the riddlers line. "Your enterance was good. His, was better."
Yi winces and grits her teeth with muffled pained cries as she sinks her face into the blanket pile. Her back arches slightly as the Wendigo takes out bullets from her shoulder and one in the kidney. The last bullet seems to be particularly stubborn in coming out, but that to eventually is dug out. In the end, Yi falls limp and rolls back over as she spots Rotem. Her eyes go back to Leonard. "So that's why you're here," she pants softly.
Leonard smirks. "Yeah, that's me. Leonard Salish, Garou doctor." He offers her a handful of bloody bullets. "Souvenir?"
Rotem eventually removes his bullets as well. His teeth gritting together, but he makes nigh a sound. The clinking of metal on concrete can be heard as the bullet from his shoulder leaves as well, one of them having gone straight through thankfully, but the other now lays on the floor. He then shifts up to glabro, leaning back on his pack and resting. After a while he calls out to Leonard. "And to conclude our lesson. Those people, fall in the category of 'watch out' people. This conc-cludes our lesson."
Yi accepts the bullet heads only to drop them on the floor beside her. "What in the world were you doing on Elson street?" she inquires with a short tone of annoyance before motioning for Leonard to lay down so she can help him.
Rotem lays there still, healing, then eventually shifting back down to homid. "I was teaching Leonard how to survive in the city. What types of people to avoid. I think my lesson was a resounding success." the cub says, then looks to Leonard. "Oh, sorry I remember, l-leave that to the Raggies."
Leonard looks his ruined shirts over and just removes them with a grunt. "Every time I come to the city I have to get new clothes." He lies back, small pink scars marking where the bullets went in. Even those begin to fade as you look.
Rotem looks his shirt over, and the jeans. They both sport new holes. The cub shrugs. "Mine are still good. Throw them in the wash, then they are fine."
Yi sighs and squints in the darkness. After a moment, she gets up to flick on a light switch and the room is lit up by one light bulb in the center. Now the extent of all the blood can be seen, as well as her knife cutting into and fingers digging for bullets out of Leonard's body. She works fast, but carefully. After the bullets come out, she sits back and wipes the knife on the blanket.
Rotem motions to Leonard. "Can I have my knife back now?" he asks, hand out and his backpack open.
Leonard's stomach muscles clench and loosen with each removal, but he doesn't do much more than hiss when Yi hits a particularly painful spot. Watch the spleen! He inhales deeply and just lies there after she's done, letting the holes close before he moves.
Yi isn't a surgeon, but is knowledgeable enough to avoid any organs and major blood vessels. She looks over at Rotem. "What, he can't even keep a knife for his troubles?"
Leonard sits up, drawing one knife from his boot. "Here's the one. The other I left stuck in some guy's eye back there. Sorry." He hands the knife to Rotem, wincing and putting a hand to his side. He looks down. "I think we missed one."
Rotem chuckles and puts away his knife. "For his troubles a knife isn't nearly enough Yi." the cub grins, "I owe this Wendigo a whole lot more."
Yi nods slowly and offers to take out the bullet she missed. "That firefight will be on the news," she says as she cuts carefully. "Hopefully no one will remember what we looked like."
Leonard grins his teeth as she scrapes a rib. "Yeah." He looks down at her handiwork. "You're pretty good at this."
Rotem snickers. "Remember? Heck, I doubt they saw anything." the cub shakes his head. "You know, before you came along, Yi. I had a perfectly calm life." After a brief pause he adds, "So, Thanks. This life is much more exciting." The cub grins, "I actually liked that. Was fun." the cub picks up one of the bullets he's removed from his body. "You know, I should get myself one of these."
Leonard glances over at Rotem to see what he's referring to. "What, a bullet?"
Rotem flicks it over at Leonard, letting it bounce off his head. "No, a gun." the cub shakes his head. "You're almost as bad as a wolf born." The cub winks playfully. "How about staying with us in the Scab for a while? Guarantee you won't find more excitment in the woods."
Yi blinks momentarily then grins wryly as she flicks out the bullet with her knife and catches it in her other large hand. The grin turns into a smirk, then drops some. "I've done it too many times," she says to Leonard. "Humans don't survive it, sometimes. They're better off in a hospital." Her eyes go over to Rotem, slightly narrowed. "Fun? Death is never...fun." Her mood shifts quickly. "People are dead or hurt. The police will be out on the alert. No doubt they are tracing our blood through the alleyways as we speak."
Leonard shakes his head to Rotem. "No way." He looks to Yi at that pronouncment, lowering his arm. "They can do that?"
Rotem shrugs. "It was fun. Was exciting. Not knowing if we would get out of there." the cub rises up onto his feet, taking his pack. To the Wendigo he remarks. "Like tracking a wounded deer." then the cub turns towards the exit. "I'm heading over towards the caern. They'll loose my tracks on the bawn. Anyone want to come with?"
Leonard stares at Rotem. "What? No you do NOT lead the cops out to the bawn."
Yi shakes her head at Rotem. "If you moved in glabro, then you probably healed enough to lose the trail before coming here." She looks up at the window. "I'll go back and make sure in a little while. Right now, I think they will be concerned with the dead and injured."
Leonard nods, standing. "There a place to wash clothes here?"
Rotem shakes his head. "No, I'm not going straight there. But still, I need to meet that spirit." the cub motions towards the doorway. "I'm going to go to the rat and raven, get something to eat, then over to Jarreds. Around and in through the fire escape. Then over to the park. See if I can t-track down Mrs. Burns."
Rotem then looks down at himself, sighing. "Damnit. I'll have to get changed first." the cub then heads down towards the back rooms to see if he can find anything to wear.
Leonard stifles a yawn, following Rotem.
Yi leans back against the wall and sighs. "Going to have to get new clothes," she mutters quietly.
Rotem sorts through a bin of old clothing and rags, looking for something to wrap about him. Eventually he pulls out a checkered cloth that he offers towards Leonard.
Rotem eventually emerges from the room, wearing whatever he could find and heading for the stairs. "I'm going to get something to wear at Jarred's.
Yi nods to Rotem and tries out her shoulder. "I think Nevada might have some extra clothes. You can clean up at my place, Leonard." She shifts down, as if she's going to actually depart right then and there.
Rotem nods and waves, "I'll be at the caern later, if you want to visit." And with that the cub departs.
"Clean up before you go," Yi adds.
Leonard decides to just use said thing to wipe the excess blood off his chest that'll still come off, and looks to Yi expectantly. "Okay."
Yi resists the temptation to run her hand through her hair and nods to Leonard. "We'll take some side alleys back to the apartment, to avoid people seeing us." With that, she leads Leonard out the church and through the city to the apartment.
Apt. 15(#2604Rh)
The slummiest wing of the Shitty Ass Ghetto Villas holds a party. Apt. 15 is like stumbling into an electric blue Mardi Gras lunchbox complete with 30-piece mariachi band. Within the common room sprawls a half-circular wagon-blockade formation of hardy boxes, lumpy beanbags, and a slouchy sofa holding the fort against the tinfoil-antenna alien of a color TV. Like a curious insect, the TV sits up against the wall atop an old metal keg with wires of a Sega Dreamcast tumbling off in thin pseudopods down to the console. The video games for the possibly only valuable item in this apartment surround the keg, backed up by platoons of toy cars just waiting to slide under an unsuspecting foot.
Stuff abounds here in the hideyhole of the giant wolfrats of GAIA. Christmas lights provide blinking dashes of rainbow color along the walls, lighting up old horror movie posters and their ilk. Underfoot, the fuzzy brown carpet sports a scar of yardlong clawmarks in a corner, along with a stamped-on smileyface rug lying in the very center of the room. A mullet wigged radio set atop a cardboard box in one corner plays in a battle of media with the opposing TV. (+view for rooms)
Obvious exits:
Out
Leonard follows you in the door and just....stops, looking around in slightly shell-shocked awe.
Yi doesn't seem to be very bothered, as she closes the door. "Something wrong?"
Leonard manages a faint, "Wow," before asking, "How do you sleep?"
Yi looks around the apartment, then back at the Wendigo. "Not very well. I have some bad dreams, sometimes, but otherwise I get enough rest." Obviously she must've missed something. "The shower is in the restroom over there. The couch is fairly comfortable, unless you prefer the floor. Better for the back, sometimes. I'll get some towels and blankets."
Leonard nods. "Thanks. Floor's good." He moves to the bathroom, and soon the water's running.
Yi takes the opportunity to shift up in the safety of the apartment. No windows, no peepholes except the one on the door. She washes her hands in the kitchen, then leaves towels on the doorknob of the bathroom and sets a pile of loose sweats in front of the door as well, before heading to the kitchen to grab some drinks. All in a night's patrol.
Leonard is actually forced to use soap to get some of the dumpster grime and dried blood off, and decides might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb and uses shampoo too. He rinses out his bloody jeans as best he can in the cold water before wringing them and hanging them on the towel rack, then peeks out the door to find the towels and sweats with a sigh of relief. He exits shortly afterwards, towelling his hair with a yawn.
Yi has already moved out into the common room and sets down some blankets beside the couch. The entire time she doesn't look in the direction of the bathroom, out of courtesy. "Would you like a Coke?" Her offered can of pop raised, unopened.
Leonard smiles, taking it and sitting down. "Thanks. For everything. You have a very big place. You here all by yourself?" He pops open the can and takes a sip, but nurses it rather than chugging it down.
Yi cracks open her own can with a short fizz of air and sips. She shakes her head. "Nevada lives here too. Used to be three of us..with Jay.." she trails there, glancing around at various things and christmas lights before her eyes settle onto the TV and the Dreamcast. Then her gaze falls back to the Wendigo. "Tired?"
Leonard nods, wearily. "I've never been shot this many times before. Kind of takes a lot out of you." He glances at the TV, then back at you. "Who are Jay and Nevada?" He pauses at that last name, frowning. It seems familiar.
Yi sips her Coke again, slow to answer as her eyes dip to the happy face rug on the floor. "Jay, One-Rage-in-Shadows. The Gnawer ahroun who died helping fight the Dancer pack under Fire Salamander..threatening the caern." Her eyes flicker up again to the insectoid TV. "Nevada, or as he's called, Hatchet. He was Jay's cub in training, rited not too long ago. Packed with Kaz, and Bernie and others."
Leonard nods, slowly. "I remember Jay, now. Liked that red candy that sticks in your teeth. And Nevada..." He shakes his head. "Someone told me they dated him, or something. Arizona... I want to say Alicia but that wouldn't be right."
Yi coughs slightly and blinks. "Alicia, yes. The galliard cub, Child of Gaia. Nevada and her, were... good friends..." she's hesitant to say more. "That's her and his past though." She takes another swig of Coke, ignoring the burning sensation of the carbonated soda.
Leonard's brow wrinkles, a line appearing above the bridge of his nose, but decides not to press. He's not dumb, just naive. "She makes me really uncomfortable." He takes another polite sip at the cola.
Yi half-empties her can, breathing out most of the air and bowing her head as she leans her head onto her knees. "She makes you nervous?" comes the muffled inquiry, curious, quiet, unpressing.
Leonard shrugs, and you can see the discomfort creeping into his shoulders at the thought. "She's just...too close. And too...loud. I don't know. She's always there, whenever you turn around. At least when I'm at the farmhouse." He shakes his head. "Sometimes I think she's doing it on purpose."
Yi laughs softly, coughing again and taking a sip of her Coke before answering, "She's just there. She can't help it. Her elders restricted her to the farmhouse and the caern, so where else can she go? I wish they would hurry with her riting. Her energy should be more useful doing things for Gaia than sitting at a farmhouse." She tilts her head to the side to gaze at the Wendigo. "Maybe it is still the color of her skin that bothers you."
Leonard grabs a pillow and hugs it to his chest, glaring at you. "No, that's not it." He amends. "Well, not all. She's just...got a little too much energy." He shrugs again, as if trying to escape an itchy coat. "I just..." He sighs. He finally comes right out and says it. "I get the feeling that she's... coming onto me. And it-- I don't like it. I don't like her. She's loud and she got metal everywhere and she's always talking about sex and she does... other things." He flushes, a darker red under his dark skin. "But I don't know how to say that. I could just be imagining it or be wrong or... You just don't _talk_ about stuff like that." He puts the Coke down to shield himself more thoroughly with the pillow, frowning.
Yi arches a glabro'ed eyebrow, then pokes at her shoulder a little tenderly. For a bit, she lets the topic falter in silence. Then she laughs quietly. "I have some problems with..that.. too. She's just playful." She smiles toothily, though it's as warm as a glabro can get. "Best you try to ignore it. She'll stop eventually. Or show no reaction, if you can." She finally gets up, and drains the rest of her Coke. "I need to go back to the scene, make sure the police don't find their way to the church." She stops at the kitchen doorway, noren slightly off to one side. "You get some rest, and I'll be back in an hour or so." The Coke can gets tossed into a recycling bin with a clunk and she shifts down.
Leonard nods. "Okay." He looks over at her. "You need any help, or...?"
Yi smiles wryly and shakes her head. "No help. Just one person will do," she replies. "Get some rest. I'll be swift." The small jangle of keys in her vest pocket as her hand slips into it, and she heads over to the door. "Sleep well."
Leonard watches you go. "Okay. Thanks again." He grabs a blanket, pulling it over him as he nestles against the couch on the floor, transferring the pillow from his arms to under his head.
Leonard is out like a light when you get back, sprawled every which way, half under the couch, with one arm thrown over his eyes.
