The gate slides closed behind you.
J.D. gingerly tests the notion of settling an arm around the girl in return, "Got a lotta stuff done around m'place, though."
Ellie lets the Get's arm find a place around her, though there's some tension remaining in her posture. She moves like a victim, a sharp contrast to the girl of a month ago: head down, shoulders a little hunched, a beautiful woman trying to escape notice. "That's good," she answers. "I haven't, really. There's still boxes."
J.D. nods gently, "I could help out, sometime, if you wanted?"
Yi travels lightly, nightly patrolling the lower blocks of the city. As she passes the junkyard, the sight of Ellie from not too long ago brings her head about. The unfamiliar woman, on the other hand, gets a few more seconds of scrutiny as she slows her walk to a drag.
From afar, Ellie notes that JD could easily pass. For male, that is.
The redhead's hair is a marker, at least. She leans her head against J.D.'s shoulder, and closes her eyes for a moment. "Sure."
Banecruncher pages to J.D., Ellie, and Yi: For those who care, Baney is sitting at the gate, watching J.D.'s bike as intently as if it were something of Ellie's.
J.D. keeps that moment, savouring it quietly, before asking, "You hungry? Ate dinner yet?"
Yi remains in the shadows, using her skills of scouting out to duck in the wake of a nearby wall while silently watching. Her eyes squint in the darkness, trying to figure out who the unfamiliar is.
You paged Banecruncher with 'You probably heard Yi on her patrol, maybe able to smell her but she's far across the street.'.
Ellie shakes her head minutely. "I've got some pasta at home, if you want some," she offers. Then she lifts her head, looking over at the tall Get. "Will--will you stay?"
J.D. exhales a short sigh, "All you have to do is ask, Ell. About anything...." She tilts her head slightly, looking at the redhead. "Okay?"
Ellie presses her lips together, and nods minutely. A faint smile touches the corners of her eyes, and then she looks down to her feet again.
Yi takes a roundabout route in crossing the street, looking all the while like someone heading to their own destination. Hers, though, is a slow approach to do a pedestrian fly-by of the two and get a closer look.
J.D. ponders a moment, then gets a slight frown, "Well, except maybe don't ask me to /cook/ the pasta. You might not wanna eat if, if I did..."
Ellie laughs softly, giving a little shake of her head. She is still far from relaxed, but the protection of the Get seems to ease her nerves a bit; her smile is a shade more genuine. "I'll take care of it. I'll just ask for help, if I need hands.
J.D. gives a simple (and relieved) smile, "That, I can do."
Yi finally comes a bit closer, walking steadily albeit a bit slowly towards the Junkyard entrance. As she nears, her head dips briefly in a greeting. "Hello Ellie," she greets the kin, offering the larger Get a polite nod.
Ellie glances up, an instinctive wariness visible for an instant's time. She doesn't quite relax, and her steps only slow for a moment, but she offers a nod and a weak smile. "Evening."
J.D. tenses slightly, partially due to the fact that she doesn't recognize the speaker, and partly due to her protectiveness of Ellie. But she doesn't say anything. Just studies the girl silently.
"Hope you're doing ok," Yi continues, pausing in her own walk and glancing up at J.D. "Hi, I'm Yi." Her head dips again in habitual greeting. "Nice, quiet night tonight..." Her gaze turns up to the St. Claire sky for a second before flittering back down.
J.D. nods, (looming), and responds, politely enough, "J.D."
Ellie pauses a moment, offering a small nod. "Yeah, I..." She's awkward, her voice unsteady. "Was just on my home." She swallows. "Seeya." Then, with an urgent glance to J.D., she keeps walking.
J.D., getting the chance to prove that she's not as dumb as she looks, picks up on the redhead's signals almost before she gives them, using her sheer size to keep the pair going forward (even if the Gnawer /isn't/ in the way, the effect is still similar...)
Yi waves a bit, giving J.D. another polite nod as the two would depart, stepping to the side and letting the pass on. In the shadow as the two walk on, her eyebrow merely arches as she tries contemplating who 'J.D.' is.
Yi hovers about, and continues on her patrol. :)
