Forgotten Church Basement(#1279RJLM)
This basement is only partly below ground level, and there are windows evenly spaced on the walls, right below the ceiling level. The main part of it is a large open area with a small kitchen in one corner and a large, ratty carpet in the center, covering the cement floor. There is a rather large window in the kitchen; it looks as though it might actually open onto the street. On the wall opposite the kitchen is a large bin, and there are folding tables along the wall perpendicular to it. On the other wall there are a few folding chairs, many fewer than one would expect from the number of tables.
A hallway next to the kitchen leads off to two offices and what once might have been a classroom.

Three-Blades comes out from one of the back rooms, yawning with a quiet whine around her large jaws. Blinking a few times and shaking her fur a bit, she stops halfway out of the hallway to the kitchen and the central basement, sniffing at the air and at her bandages about her forelimbs.

Rotem is sitting at a table, picking at the leftovers from the fridge. Silverware is optional for him, quite obviously. He glances to Yi, "God damnit, which one are you?" he asks, obviously unable to tell the difference between the various /dogs of war/.

Three-Blades rumbles as she scents food, but shifts to her breed form, giving her the freedom of language. Once settled into her human shape, she makes sure the bandages are tightened about her arms as she crosses to the cupboards. "You know who I am," she says, "But I'll introduce myself again if you need a refresh of memory."

Rotem shakes his head with a sigh. "Sorry, I can never tell with those wolves, I mean.. " he pauses for a moment, "lupus form, I can never tell who is who in that."

Yi nods, taking out a short strip of beef jerky and chewing lightly on it. "That's something you'll have to get used to. It's harder when you don't have color vision." She strips off a piece and offers to the cub. "Once you get used to it, you'll be able to tell who is who, and even what they are saying. So, do you believe any of this yet, or are you thinking you must be in a coma?"

Rotem chuckles. "I'm getting it, mostly, but I can still hope can't I?" he smiles, "So, wanna continue the teaching? I am bored out of my mind down here."

Yi leans up against the counter, nodding slowly. "Sure... what do you know so far?" Her British/Cantonese accent shines through dimly, as she's still waking up from a long nap.

Rotem says "Accept an Honorable Surrender, still haven't had it explained though.""

Nodding as Rotem catches her up to his teachings, Yi explains the Litany law further. "Every group eventually fights amongst themselves. We Garou, sometimes have this problem a lot. There is fight for dominance, and eventually one will give in and submit. When the loser submits, the winner must not continue fighting. Like a bell at the end of a boxing match. The winner is supposed to stop beating up the his opponent. When a wolf shows his throat in surender, you must not keep fighting and rip out his throat. That, is what it means."

Rotem nods softly. "Umm, what if he doesn't surrender?" he sighs, finding this a distinct possibility.

"And if you do not surrender as well, you mean?" Yi glances at him. "Then hope you both don't rip each other's throats out before a halfmoon can step in to stop you two. Our fight is with the Wyrm, not with each other. Everyone has disagreements, but for the sake of the greater threat we must put those aside and fight a common enemy."

Rotem chews on another piece of food, nodding, "Ok, whats n-next?"

Yi chuckles softly, thinking of the next law of the Garou. "You might not like it, but I'm pretty sure you will have to get used to it. Submission to Those of Higher Station. I think you know what that means."

Rotem nods. "Yeah, I learned that one a-already." he chuckles and continues, "Follow what your elders tell you t-to do.. as long as they a-are watching."

"It is there for good reason as well. It is all about cooperation of packs, working together. One leads, five more follow, and they are strong. One alone, can't hunt much more than rabbits." Yi runs through her thoughts of the Litany. "Well it seems like you learned the Litany in a mix. They don't have a specific order, but I know them a certain way and Junior knows them a certain way... why don't you tell me what you know so far."

Rotem chuckles, thinking of what he's heard over the past few days. he hmms and speaks softly "Sure, I remember them, No fucking in the house, kill the bad stuff, no tresspassing, no eating people. Oh, and might I add... Eww?"

Yi nods slowly, then butts through the teaching briefly to ask the cub, "Has your wound healed yet?" Her wry smile flits over her features, curious whether or not Rotem knew that shifting would help heal the aggravated damage.

Rotem looks down to his chest, "No, just g-goes to show you how much you p-people know, telling me we heal fast. B-bullshit, even a scratch heals like a s-scratch."

Yi unbandages part of her wrist, showing Rotem her own arms. "You see, these arms were clawed up by you. I've not fully healed yet, but think. Those claws of yours, when you were the killing machine of Gaia, those claws would have chopped my arms off if I were human. But here I am, with just a few scabs over, like you said, scratches. This is evidence we /do/ heal fast. We just can't heal in human or wolf forms."

Rotem shrugs, "Big help to m-me. And I'm sorry for cutting y-you up l-like that. But s-seeing as I dont know how I d-did that last time, I cant d-do it again. So I, I, I can't heal."

Yi shakes her head, and motions for Rotem to follow her into the main basement room. "We will be back to your food in a minute."

Rotem takes another bite quickly, before rising up and moving to follow her, he licks his fingers off as he walks. "By t-the way, w-who brought the food?"

Yi takes the cub back to the basement where he was dropped off yesterday. Once in the center, she turns and faces him. "Ok, I am going to show you how we change. There are five forms. We call them, Homid, Glabro, Crinos, Hispo, and Lupus. You know homid, crinos, and lupus. Homid is human, lupus is wolf. Crinos, is that big killing machine you turned into. It is our war form, the one most commonly used to fight other monsters with. The other two, Glabro and Hispo, are in between. You have seen me in Glabro. It is where I look human, but more like a very big human. Hispo is what you saw me in as I woke up. With me?"

Rotem nods softly, "Gotcha" he nods and smiles, "I like Crinos." he smirks.

Yi shrugs at the ahroun cub, just noting the affection for the warform as a fullmoon trait. "You can heal much faster in glabro, crinos and hispo. These three in between forms have that quality. However, you must know of one of the Litany laws. The Veil shall not be lifted. The Veil, is the mask we keep pulled over regular humans' eyes. They cannot see who we really are. You saw what happened to Nevada's friend. Most of them go crazy when they see a werewolf."

Rotem chuckles, "No shit, I would freak too if I saw that walking down the street. But what about Glabro, can we pull that off in public?"

Yi shakes her head slightly, but this one is a bit more lenient. "Generally no. Glabro walking along the streets are easily noticed not just by humans as strange people to avoid, but there are more than just humans who roam the city."

Rotem shrugs, "So I've heard, but I've never had anything wierd jump out at me, except a narc here or there.

Yi quietly shakes her head. "What I mean are those that are not of Gaia. The Wyrm has its own claws out there, waiting for you to make the wrong move. Vampires will try to kill you, or even worse turn you into one of them. Monsters we call banes, and evil spirits, they lurk in the dark alleys, but you don't see them because they are in the spirit world. I don't want to scare you silly, but it is reality. To live, you have to be smart."

Rotem shrugs, "If they are in the spirit world, what the heck does that matter? I mean its not like I can do anything about another world, s'long they don't stand in front of me, I can't beat the crap out of them."

Yi sighs softly, seeing this conversation going deeper and deeper into the well, fast. "It's easier to show you, but you're going to need to know about the basics first. And the very basic, is the Litany and a few things about our tribe, or learning how to control your shift. So pick one. If you learn the Litany, it will be faster for you to get out of this basement, when one of us can take you around and show you where we are. Learning to control your shifting, can help you in just what I said. Controlling yourself so you don't go bursting into crinos everytime you get angry at someone giving you onions on your hamburger."

Rotem says "Then let's finish the Litany. I was told there were only thirteen rules. So we should be able to get that over with already."

Yi nods. "Ok, real quick.. I'm going to tell you the whole thing, and then answer your questions after. First, Garou shall not mate with other Garou. Fight the Wyrm wherever and whenever it breeds. Respect the territory of another. Accept honorable surrender. Submit to those of higher station. The first share of the kill to the greatest of station. Do not eat human flesh. Respect all those beneath you, for all are of Gaia. The Veil shall not be lifted. Do not suffer your people to take care of your sickness. The leader can be challenged during peace. You cannot challenge the leader during war. And finally, take no action that causes a caern to be violated."

Rotem says "First share of the kill? What the hell is that about?"

Rotem continues, "And what the heck is a caern? Why shouldn't I stay home if I'm sick? Who's the leader? And I thought we were always at war."

Yi nods, taking up a little lean against the basement wall to explain. "Call it spoils of war, if you want. When a wolf pack hunts and kills, the one who gets to eat first is the leader. When you go into battle and you have riches, the person who gets the most treasure is the leader. So, the leader gets the first choice of what they want. And so on. We call the leader, the Alpha. Just like a wolf pack. The top dog in this town is Brian. He stays at the caern mostly. And the caern, well I or one of the Gnawers will show you. It is a special place that only Garou are allowed to be in." She runs her hand through her hair, making sure not to catch her bandages in it. "When you're too old or sick to keep up, don't whine about it. In other words, do what you know you have to do. And we are in a constant war, but every war has a pause between battles. That, we can call peacetime in a way."

Rotem shrugs, grinning softly before speaking, "Sounds fine to me. So, when do I get to go up against Brian?" a soft chuckle offered, although not completely joking.

Yi chuckles at the notion, but humors the cub. "Depends how fast and furious you can prove yourself to be worthy at the top." She stands up from leaning against the wall. "Well, that is the Litany. You'll have to remember it, because if you don't you'll have a little bit of trouble should you break one of the rules. Little, depends on who is your judge and jury." With that, she motions the cub back towards the kitchen. "I think you have enough to chew on for now. If you want, you can try shifting in here. It is pretty safe, don't have to worry about strangers coming in and seeing you. But always have your eye out. I have to go on patrol, so we'll talk more when I come back."

Rotem nods softly, "How do I shift?" he asks quickly, before she goes.

Yi pauses, then nods. Of course... "By wanting to," she replies simply. "Just imagine yourself as what you want to be. Concentrate on the fur, the strong sense of smell and hearing, the thoughts of running in the woods with your paws flying over the grass. Growl, howl, bark. Just /be/ the wolf, and you will become the wolf. And for the others... I'll leave you to think about that." She grins wryly, leaving the cub with her enigmatic answer as she climbs the stairs to head out of the church.
