Alicia steps into the forest, leading Toni along, still talking. "Ok, so besides argue, is there anything else ya do?"
Toni considers for a moment before saying, "Listen, and watch, I guess."
Alicia glances over her shoulder to her traveling companion. "Just listen an watch? Ya need a hobby."
Toni shrugs, "What do you do?"
If the pair were listening, they'd hear the sound of a very panicked rabbit hopping at not-quite the speed of light as it bursts out of the brush, followed by a blur of brown and black wolf. Yi's hot on its heels as it turns right at Alicia's ankle, heading for a nearby dense patch. Just as it makes to dive, the Gnawer in lupus snags the rabbit's hind leg and crunches down, making the rabbit scream bloody murder. Well, it's not quite murder...dinner rather. A quick and vigorous shake of the rabbit snaps its neck, and Yi secures her meal for tonight. She glances up at the two others, blinking and sniffing around the rabbitfur.
Alicia opens her mouth to reply and nearly stumbles to the side, squeaking. "Gah.. dammit... slow down speed racer." Recognizing her friend, she grins, then looks to Toni. "What do I do? Well.. I draw, I write music, which I hopefully will compose. I dance, which is probably my favorite thing to do."
Toni glances briefly at the Gnawer, but then leaves her towards her meal and turns back to Alicia. "You're a Galliard."
Alicia nods her head. "Yah..well. I am sure Theurge's can draw as well."
Three-Blades sets down the rabbit and tilts her head towards the two of them, chuffing a hello.
Toni considers for a moment, "Not this one."
Alicia smiles and leans over, ruffling up Three-Blade's ears with her fingers. "Ever tried?" She replies to the Get.
Toni nods after a moment, "In school."
Three-Blades rumbles softly, and flickers her ears under Alicia's ruffling. She turns back to her kill and snuffles at the blood scent. I think cats are harder to catch. Her whuffle comes softly as she bites off the tail and spits it away before going at her dinner.
Alicia wrinkles her nose a bit at Yi, then shakes her head, smiling. "Well... maybe I can help you get better Toni. At least it'd give us something to do one day."
Toni considers for a moment, frowning a little, "When the moon is a little less full maybe."
Three-Blades isn't too picky, though she's gotten somewhat more used to bloodier kills as she gulps down bits and pieces of rabbit. When she's through, she looks back up at the two, licking the blood off her muzzle. An ear tilts towards Toni. I have not met you before. Her tail is kept on a medium-high level, though it does wag slightly side to side.
Alicia glances between the two an lets introductions start.
Toni greets Three-Blades simply, "I am Toni, Quiet Fury, Get of Fenris Theurge."
Three-Blades dips her head in a 'nice to meet you' way. Three-Blades, no-moon of the Bone Gnawers. She turns to Alicia and rumbles softly. Sorry to introduce and run, but I have to get somewhere fast. She opens her jaws in a lupine grin, and bounds back into the brush the same way she came.
The Rialto -- Auditorium(#3319RJ)
The roar of the crowd. The smell of greasepaint. "Now is the winter of our discontent..." An old, darkly nostalgic quality hangs heavy in the air of this empty old theater. Once black-painted windows no longer refuse the light of sun and moon, now broken and open to the city sky.
Largely gutted now, this once gilded and opulent theater spreads like an old grand dame holding desperately to a past now gone and largely forgotten. The plush seats which once held nearly a thousand people are, for the most part, long gone. Time's indifferent hand has dulled the once ornate proscenium arch and faded the velvet red of the main curtain, leaving the wide stage in dark shadows before the gaping and toothless mouth of the music pit.
At the right side of the stage, from the auditorium floor, a door leads toward the back of the theater. To the left of the stage, an old exit sign still glows above a reinforced door. In the back of the auditorium, archways lead back to the lobby and the boarded up front doors.

Julie's dull gaze peers past stringy braids to Sig, a small nod sends the plaits swinging limply against her skin.
Kaz explains, a small grin rising, "Me and Max and Nevada and Tim th' Toothbreaker, we're startin' a pack t'gether. I'm headin' it up. Prolly gonna go Questin' for Raccoon or Magpie eventually. We're gonna be a bunch've investigatory asskickers, find stuff out that needs findin', kick butt when needed. Got Elson and Regan, down t'where Ring've Fire's still got. Centerin' around the Rialto, I figure."
Owen flumps down into a seat with a bit of a groan. Signe gets a short, polite nod. "Take me," he says to her.
Little Tim comes in through the reinforced door over which an old exit sign still glows.
Junior stays quiet, standing behind Joey.
Signe looks surprised, but not at all displeased. In fact, she lets out a little laugh. "That's excellent, Kaz. Excellent." Standing from her crouch, she watches as the others start trickling in.
Reggie comes in through the reinforced door over which an old exit sign still glows.
Kaz pages to the room: New folks: There's a buttload of food and Guinness on stage.
Kaz's grin rises. "Well, I kinda think so..." As people start filtering in, she calls, "Yo, folks, feel free t'grab food, drink, what the fuck ever, yeah?"
Signe gestures to the food, knowing instinctively--and doing it at about the same time as Kaz--that that's what the Gnawer intended. "Come on up and grab someting to eat, then we'll start talking."
Elan goes up and put the papers on a table. "Sewer maps, circa 1998," he says simply.
Kaz's eyes open slightly wider. "Elan, you're my fuckin' hero. If you wasn't taken, I'd fuckin' kiss you."
Signe glances at Elan's papers with a grateful look. "That's perfect, Eyes. Thanks. What I need right now is for someone to study these layouts so we can pick the best place to start with."
Reggie filters in like sludge through a water softener, beginning to greet people with "Hey you--" before he's magnetically drawn to the stage, where he purloins a beer bottle and stuffs his mouth with available food as he continues the odd "How's it going", whether or not he recognizes whoever he's addressing.
Yi comes in, shuffling some papers in her hands while opening up the door. She gazes about the room, looking at faces before heading towards the more familiar Kaz. To those more perceptive in the dimmer light and whatnot, she smells a bit like blood and pine needles.
Joey, in lieu of checking on the food, sdecides to go take a good look at the sewer maps.
Owen mutters, slumping into his seat a bit. No response. Not at the moment really capable of eating anything, he just stays in place and waits for folks to feed first.
Sepdet slips in less fashionably late than Brian, moving a bit warily. She takes in the Guinness onstage with a faint sliver of a grin.
Julie remains quiet, hunched down in the chair, as she watches and listens. Little of her features are seen behind the veil of hair always in her face, but jaw muscles twitch occasionally.
Signe studies Elan's maps first, and seeing Yi calls her over. "Blades, what you got there?"
Junior steps over to the stage, getting two bottles of Guinness before going to join Joey at the maps. He offers one absentmindedly to Joey.
Sepdet selects something conservative from the spread of food, if there is any, although if there isn't she'll subsist on junk and grease almost as well as a Rat. She does pick up a bottle of beer, after a wistful sniff.
Yi waves at Signe and the just entered new-adren, before moving to the Get Jarl with her things. "Some maps," she states. "Mostly just manhole plots, and a copy of Sepdet's map from last scouting."
Kaz grabs a leg of chicken, and hops down from the stage to check out the maps herself.
Joey is standing away from Signe, as arm's reach seems to be the Gnawer Cub Accepted Safe Distance when Signe is concerned. He feels the cold of the beer at his elbow, and takes it. The short teen turns away from the map only briefly to stare at the bottle until the cap pops off of its own accord, then takes a drink, going back to look.
Signe adds Yi's to the rest of the collection, giving her a grateful look as well. "Speaking of, is that packmate of yours coming---" she cuts herself off, seeing the new adren has actually arrived. "Sepdet," she calls, waiting for the Strider to join them downstage.
Sepdet raises her drink mutely and paces briskly over to the Get. "What's the story?"
Kaz mutters, "Of a lovely lady," under her breath, as she peers intently.
Signe hands Sepdet Elan's maps, and copies of Yi's pages too. "This is what we got, but you're the only one I know of who's been down there much. What we need to do is figure out where in all this we should concentrate first. I need to know where it was the first scouting happened, and exactly what went down that night."
Yi takes another look around, then turns back to Signe and the main group. "Is this all of us?" She sucks the end of a canine, perhaps still tasting the rabbit with a different set of tastebuds.
Signe looks around at the collection. Though the Get is at least pleased at the turnout, her scowl remains--probably just because it's natural.
Kaz shrugs. "Prolly get more. You know Garou. Always late t'dinner dates."
Joey chews on his lip. "Bet J.D.'d want in on this too."
Signe glances over at Joey idly, smiling. "You know if she's coming?"
Owen eventually gets to his feet with a grunt to go join the rest on stage. He avoids the food and drink to go catch what look at the maps he can garner.
Joey offers a shrug in the way of a response. "Said she'd make it if she could. If not, I'll pass the word along later."
Elan simply settle back, looking a bit tired.
Signe turns to face Joey a little more fully, the Gnawer getting more of the Get's attention than he wanted, apparently. "You two hanging together a lot lately?" she asks, sincerely curious.
Jarred enters, looking around him darkly.
Julie's eyes follow Owen as he heads stageward.
Joey thinks about that for a moment. "Not really," he says. "Dropped in for a visit last week, to say hello and all. This came up, and she sounded interested."
Signe grunts in answer to Joey, accepting what he says with a nod. She turns back to the rest of the group, listening to everyone mulling about.
Sepdet spots Jarred out of the corner of her eye and swivels away from the crowd, stepping away from Yi and Signe for a moment. "A quick word, Storm-singer," she says in a low voice. "Seems I tripped on words last night. I'd thought I was giving credit to your pack for its part, but Owen heard me say First Strike. Don't think I have any great fondness for them that I'd willingly give them /any/ more glory than necessary."
Yi nods, then moves over to a little more spacious part of the stage. Her eyes ping the crowd again, thinking they should start soon, while people still have their minds about them instead of in the beer.
Jarred brushes past Sepdet. "It's of little importance, Septdet-Rhya. Many congratulations on your success."
Unceremoniously late. There's Allie for you. The Strider steps into the room, glancing around at the congregated Garou. An uncertain expression flits upon her face, but she moves over towards Sepdet. "Hey," she says quietly, and offers a small smile. "Congrats. I heard. Sorry I wasn't there." The girl scratches at her neck idly.
Kaz settles down onto the stage again, after giving the plans one last look, and thumps her heel idly.
Signe's voice pipes up enough to get everyone's attention. It carries across the Rialto in a way that any actor who graced its stage in its heyday would envy, despite its rough countenance, "All right, everyone shut up. We got business and we might as well start. Now, who here went on the last scouting?"
Joey looks up as Signe barks out a command silence. He does raise his hand at the question.
Sepdet frowns faintly after Jarred, expression troubled, but the entrance of her tribesmate draws a distracted smile of thanks. As Signe begins to speak she turns back towards business, and lifts a few fingers.
Julie shifts her attention from one Get to another, the same tight expression remaining on the gaunt features as she listens to Signe.
Yi lifts her hand and glances around. "Ethan and Chaser were with Joey and me, as well," she says with a nod to Joey. "The other group had Banecruncher and Jamethon in it too." Her eyes cast about for the previous mentioned.
Signe looks about at everyone's faces, seeing Joey and Sepdet raise there hands. "Alright, that's two. I want a report of what happened then, so we have an idea of what to prepare for this time."
Owen looks away from the map, about to say something to Signe. As she starts up, however, he sours into a frown, his timing apparently all the hell off tonight, and just goes to find a place to plant himself once more.
Allie is silent as death, standing still near her tribesmate. She regards Signe quietly, curiously, and does not betray her vigil of silence: silent indeed.
Eamon wanders in. "Er, sorry I'm late."
Max steals in from the eaves on one side of the stage and meanders over to settle beside Kaz on the edge, muttering something near her ear before stretching an arm behind her to aim a flourescent orange plastic squirtgun at Joey and fire it, sending a stream of water his way. She quickly conceals the weapon and does her best to nod solemnly at what Signe is talking about, brows drawn in what is an attempt at thoughtful.
J.D. slips in, fairly quietly, really, for someone her size. Her gaze finds no one else in the crowd, save Signe, and she gives the Ahroun a simple nod, before finding a place amongst those gathered.
Glancing to Joey, Yi narrows her eyes towards a part of the Rialto as she recalls what she knows. "The first scouting Jay and I did, ended up with us listening to quite a few banes and whatever else is down there, shrieking. Jay killed something, and it made him sick when he bit it. That, was near Osprey Circle Fountain uptown." She glances about. "The second scouting, Chaser led us to an alley on Bridge Street, and we entered a manhole from there. It wasn't long before everything turned pitch black, and something struck Chaser. Not too far along the way. I believe the other group had some trouble with banes as well."
Yi adds, "I believe we were heading north."
Joey is standing by a table, Guinness in hand. He's about to say something as he's suddenly squirted on the side of his head. He turns, looking for the assailant. Seeing, no one, he stifles a sigh. "Okay...as it was last time, when Chaser led the Scout. The place is teeming with taint, first off, so tracking it by Wyrm Scent is pretty damn useless. From what I was able to get from the other, and Yi was there to back me up, was this something was fucking huge, near the fountain, and involved a lot of tentacles. We didn't get a good enough look to see if it had flunky Banes and shot working with or for it. Just the big thing."
Signe listens to both accounts, her frown darkening further. She lets out a long drawn breath in a slow sigh. "Ok. that's a start. I think it's safe to say that this job is gonna take months of sustained, concerted effort."
It was deja vu all over again. "Don't think this has anythin' t' do with the stuff we cleared out o' the fountain a couple years ago, do you?" Julie asks quietly, in Sig's direction.
Sepdet nods slowly. "I believe we nearly reached Osprey Circle Fountain. Two groups. Scouts in front with Chaser, the rest of us as backup behind. Visibility low or nil unless in wolf, and then the stench was painful. We got a very large bane at our backs behind Julie. It stopped when I barked, but I couldn't get a good idea of what it was, and got us moving towards the scouts 'cause it sounded like they were having problems. Our way was barred by another something, or somethings, that made a cloud of darkness. We got past that, but some of those in the back took some sort of poison gas in their lungs. I imagine from the thing behind us."
Little Tim is late, no bones about it. He makes no comment, but slides in from the back of the theatre, for once trying to remain unnoticed.
Kaz shoots Max a brief, mostly amused look, and scootches toward her slightly, listening intently to the various inputs.
Max's mock thoughtfulness turns more genuine as she listens to Joey's tale with an almost fascinated expression.
Julie happened to be one who got a lungful.
Joey nods as the Adrean Strider speaks. "No one ever got to me about what your side was doing. I was the one in between both groups, and when the shit dropped us, Chaser sent me out to get reinforcements."
Signe quiets as Sepdet adds her point of view from the last scouting. she nods, at the end of it, and looks curiously at Julie. "Which stuff was that?"
Junior frowns, sipping his Guinness as he listens quietly.
Jarred stretches where he stands against a wall, still without comment.
Julie has to think hard, but eventually comes up with it. "What pulled Tin Can's arm off, if'n I recall, hadda drag him back."
Yi is quiet for a moment, remembering what happened down in the pitch dark of the sewers. "We were heading north. Chaser had stopped to sniff something ahead, and..." she takes in a small hiss of breath. "And I asked a question. That's when whatever it was she was sniffing struck at her, and we ran back south. Then..then something growled deep, from the south where we'd come from. So Chaser turned us to the right.. to west. That's when we tried to find our way back to your group, and Sepdet's light."
Sepdet grimaces at Yi's report. She adds, "The bane at our tail was also beating at the minds of the theurges, trying to make us lose our temper and fight. Took a bit of work to block it out. I'm not sure if anyone else besides Elan and myself heard it." She glances around questioningly towards Julie.
Signe nods to Yi and projects her voice again. "Like I say, its gonna take a concerted effort. Our packs need to be working together on this, and it's gonna take strike after strike. I propse we pick one specific part, take that back, then work our way through the system. It means a lot of fighting, but I think it's probably the best way. We'll need light and fire talens from the crescent moons, as well as talens that attack the specific powers of the banes we encounter as we move on. Any one got a problem with this so far?"
Julie shakes her head faintly. "I didn't hear nothin'. 'Course, I was too busy coughin' m' lungs up a' the time." A smirk, and just a tad bit of amusement touches her eyes.
Kaz shakes her head, eyes intent. "Only question I have is, where'll we start, but you're gettin' to that."
Eamon arches his eyebrow at the mention of poison gas.
Joey, having nothing else to say, settles down, looking almost embarassed. But, he does look around, since water spouts don't come out of nowhere, even for the Garou.
"There were...humans. Down below," Yi adds quietly. "One approached us, but Chaser killed him, throated him. His eyes were gouged out..." she represses a shudder, then looks up at mention of talens. "Is there any spirit that can help us see in the dark?"
Little Tim sidles in toward Max and Kaz at the edge of the stage. It bears noting that he doesn't grab a beer; perhaps he hasn't spotted them yet.
Sepdet shakes her head at Signe. "Right so far."
Max's gaze flickers past the discussion around the table to the back of the auditorium where Tim loiters. She touches two fingers to her forehead then to the empty space of stage beside her, then mutters an 'amen' after Kaz speaks, looking back to the discussion.
Owen has, by this time, withdrawn his knife and shifted to glabro. He's listening, yes, but he's also idly carving things into his leg and watching them heal up.
Signe looks out over the crowd, especially at the adren theurge and shadow eyes, before she goes on. Yi stops the Get short before she goes on though. "Humans?"
Kaz hasn't heard this either; her attention rivets on Yi, eyebrows raising under her hair.
Julie's gaze snaps to Yi, too, and she is sitting up straight, attention intent.
Yi nods slowly. "From what moonlight I could get to see when Joey opened up the manhole. Just one. Came at us," the nomoon's eyes look a little absent. "Came at us, moaning for help. And Chaser slashed his throat. His eyes, were gone. Just bloody holes." She swallows hard, but blinks and looks back up at the people who seem to have their attention on her. "It had a man's shape."
Sepdet grimaces. "More Fomori. Wonderful."
Signe asks of the crowd, "Anyone seen or had trouble with lots of fomor that I ain't heard about lately?"
Julie slowly shakes her head, thinking what street folk might be missing once she answers Sig's question.
Kaz shakes her head. "I ain't seen a hell of a lot of 'em, no."
Joey shakes his head. "I and Junior ain't."
Sepdet suggests, "No, but it sounds like you did, Jarl. Maybe give us a sum of your pack's discovery so the city folk are on the watch?"
Owen continues his carving. "Not for a long time."
Signe's shoulders fall a little, and those who know her best might sens a little relief, but in truth the Get's expression is fairly schooled, fairly down to business. She nods to the answers she gets. "Well, that's good. It was probably just some poor unlucky soul who tried to escape the cold by going underground, and not an organized effort by the banes themselves. But, remember, that's something to keep an eye out for."
Elan stays quiet and listens intently.
Signe goes on, "So the question becomes, where do we start? Any ideas on that?" Reggie stuffs Doritos into his craw rather than pour over maps.
Julie raises her hand.
Kaz says, promptly, "Harbor Park?"
Signe looks to Kaz first, then nods for Julie to speak up.
Julie offers, against Kaz's idea, "The cleanest part o' the sewers is the north side. Start there, an' work our way south."
"And how, do we begin," Yi adds, eyes giving Reggie a brief glance before settling back towards the others. "Osprey Circle Fountain seemed to be the focus point. Whatever is there, is big, bad, and has bane patrols or detection systems reaching far and throughout the sewers." She glances to Kaz. "How safe are the sewers below Harbor Park, do you know?" Now the Gnawer's mind is thinking some more. "And we haven't even determined what is in the Shadow."
Kaz looks briefly abstracted. "Huh," she mutters. "Didn't know that, Jules. Thanks." Contemplating Yi, she goes on, "Probably don't want to do the first assault against the campaign post itself -- 'less we don't want 'em to know we're comin'?"
Signe speaks up again, "that brings us to another problem. IF and when we take back a part--a section--we need to hold it, no matter what. Basically, this means a pack, or set of packs, need to /be/ there. And to be vigilant about it. In other words, we'll need volunteers to patrol those sewers constantly until we get the rest cleared out. But we're getting ahead of ourselves."
Owen chops one good time into his leg and lets the knife, caught in bone, shake back and forth on its own by letting it go. "Ain't there some spirit planted into Harbor Park to protect it?"
Signe goes on, "Yes. We'll need umbral scoutings done." Briefly, she looks again at the senior crescents here, hoping to glean their opinions from their expressions. "But I'll leave that to those who's moon makes them more knowledgeable about how to go about that. I think we need to clean up the realm part a bit before the umbral business can proceed."
Julie pipes up again, "Alla the places we've encountered the banes inna sewers s' far, they been marked onna maps yet?" Her eyes narrow as she glances at Owen's leg.
Yi saves a bottle of Guinness from the rest of the crates before settling down and giving the cap an eye before it slips off with a light hiss of escaping air. She takes a small sip as she sniffs the bloodscent coming from Owen's leg and looks to
Signe or someone who would know. "Basically, whatever we have down in our sewers, looks like Hanford in pitch black," she growls from around her throat. And Hanford, didn't look that good from her expression.
Sepdet frowns. "There was a spirit in the fountain. But I haven't seen her in a long while, and I'm afraid the pack that promised to help keep the river clear in exchange for its help is long gone, so we won't get much help from that quarter. As for the Umbra of the sewers, I imagine it's only a little worse than Realm, and that the banes have just been spilling over and making a home here. Improve one side of the mirror, and the other will reflect the change." She adds with a grimace, "The one problem is that sometimes when we hit banes this side, they just pop back to the other and reform. We could split the hunting party on either side of the Gauntlet, but that's always harder to manage."
Joey pipes up, himself. "Think they'll call a Revel on this, or is that too much time ahead?'
Kaz asks, more from curiousity than anything else, "Anyone thought of controlled burnin' down there, or anything, or would that do more harm than good?"
Elan clears his throat. "One thing I'm going to try is to track down a spirit renouned for it's wisdom and simply /ask/ it where the greatest concentrations are. However, Sepdet-rhya has hit on a more basic problem. Many - mayne even most - places where banes seem drawn can be improved by making the realm side a better place to be. the hospital is a prime example. The park is another. Many places could be reclaimed, this way."
Julie glances at Kaz, a quiet 'hm', and a nod, appreciating the idea.
Elan smiles a bit. "I proposed the fire angle to Brian a while ago. It would work if we didn't want a city to live in, afterwards."
Eamon glances over at Elan. "You could always talk to the rats in the sewers, they probably know better than anything else."
Kaz wrinkles her forehead. "So you don't think we could contain it. Fuck, y'prolly right."
"Fire might be a risk," Yi says softly. "Down below isn't just water, but also electricity and gas lines, as well as waste."
Owen prys the knife from his leg. "It'd make one hell of a story," he says flatly.
Signe nods to Yi, looking thoughtful for a moment. Sepdet's words garner another nod from the Get, and she looks pleased at the Strider's opinion. "Attacking the heart would be bad. I like the idea of moving out from Harbor Park toward the worst part of the underground--which I'm gathering is centered around Osprey Circle. They may call a revel, but before then we need to make a dent. And then we need to hold that position. what I want from you all is to organize yourselves--your packs, and you free runners--organize yourself into strike groups to take turns." Elan's words make the Get's eyes dance eagerly. "Let me know if I can help with that spirit talking."
Junior grimaces. "Fire's real bad, if it hits the gas lines. Got t' be something else we can use."
Julie chuckles dryly and quietly to herself, "Flood the sewers with bless'd water."
Jarred glances over to Junior. "Nice to see you're keeping up." he whispers.
Signe answers Julie, "Might hurt some but would probably wreek more havoc with the city than hurt the banes. Best bet I think is straight out fighting. though I ain't gonna snow you. gonna take a lot of hard work. And we may lose some of us."
Sepdet looks sharply at Julie, but after a moment shakes her head with a sigh. "Take out too many Rats, and we'd end up sweeping the muck into the river. Good thought, though." She nods grim agreement with Signe.
Yi thinks about the flooding the sewers idea, but can't imagine where to get the water from unless it's from the river. "Is there a way to just lure a few banes at a time, instead of having a whole legion of them? Jay killed one, and then we heard dozens of them shrieking from everywhere."
Kaz mutters, "Acid," at nothing in particular, and continues watching, mostly silently.
Julie blinks once. "How cou'd it wreek havoc? You block a bunch o' sewers off, stake out the manholes an' stuff, an' take out what comes out." She glances at Sep. "I'm thinkin' the rats'll be out, if'n told first." She winks. "This way, you've gotten rid o' a lot o' the piddly banes, an' we can go from there. Cou'd help also figger out where they're concentratin'."
Owen takes another stab at his leg. "Dark and shit down there. Well, the sun fries leeches. Take a bit o' Helios down there."
Signe adds, after a nod to Sepdet, "So here's my question for you. If we organize a strike to take back the underground beneath Harbor Park first, Who among you will take it on yourselves to /hold/ that ground while we move through the system?"
Eamon nods. "Fightin' 'em in the sewers is stupid. We gotta get 'em out in the open where we can do some damage."
Signe asks Eamon, "How?"
Kaz says "Galliard Gift. Fostern thing. Can call Wyrm shit to it. Yeah?"
J.D. finally speaks up, although not at a terribly high volume, "And to where? The city streets? I can see us all on COPS now. And it wouldn't even be that X-Files cross-over."
Eamon shrugs. "Well, that's the $64,000 question."
"What about by the river?" Yi suggests. "I think I may have saw a drain pipe near the bridge to Kent Crossing."
Julie facepalms, and peers past her fingers at JD. "Good point," she mutters.
Sepdet says grimly, "J.D.'s right. We dare not bring them aboveground without a surefire plan to prevent a Veil Breach. And I'm not sure the banes will be so obliging as to mind the Litany."
Eamon says "Well, obviously, we'd hafta do it in the shadow." He nods at Kaz. "Yeah, that'd work. Set up an ambush."
Kaz says, "I think... Chugs once said the sewers under Harbor Park did kind of a dead end, or something. Have to talk to him more, but I bet we could set up a good ambush for some of them..."
Signe adds, "Call the wyrm may get some, but then yes there's the problem of the Veil. Besides which, I don't think even Call the Wyrm could clear all of the Wyrm's filth from the sewers. No matter what, we're looking at having to go down into the shit. That's just the way it is."
Julie says "What 'bout what Owen said 'bout Helios? That cou'd burn a few as we go 'long inna sewers. An' is there a way t' kinda, like, well, make the lights stay on, an' section off the sewers that've been debaned?"
Eamon says "Well, we could use the gift to call out the less powerful banes and get rid of them, then go in after the big nasty ones. That way the small ones won't be in the way and wear us down when we're fightin' the big ones."
Owen sighs and just falls silent, going back to making small holes in himself just to watch them heal.
Kaz nods. "Yeah. Sure. Just the kind of thing you said, though. Ambush some, pick 'em off, reclaim a small part, get more done, keep pickin' 'em off, like Eamon says. Ain't like most of 'em are real smart." She stops, looking thoughtful, and then casts a brief glance at Elan before looking back to Signe.
Signe nods to Julie about Owen's idea "I think we already agreed the theurges would make talens of fire and light."
Sepdet takes a cautious sip of Guinness. "We can. Will have to be careful not to light the gas down there, whoever uses the fire." She looks around. "Sounds like a consensus to start near Harbor Park and work west. What packs have that area? Signe's right: winning's less than half the battle; the hard job is holding the line after we've drawn it."
Julie nods, then pushes herself out of her seat, wandering toward said Get. "Y'know, that's just sick..." she murmurs to Owen.
Yi observes the group, quietly drinking her Guinness. Then she adds in, "Jay and I went down under Osprey Circle during the daytime. Generally, nothing really sets off until someone gets hurt. And then all hell breaks loose. Light, blood, sound, anything sets the detectors off."
Signe grimaces, ading to Sepdet's comment, "The last thing I want is to pay for land twice. so I ask again, who among you will help hold the ground we take until we can clear it all? It's a 24 hour a day job I'm talking about."
Kaz says, "Yo. We got Regan and stuff. Ring've Fire's a little south've us."
Owen turns an eye to Julie, then puts the knife away. "Anyways, doubt Helios would think of itself as just a talen of fire and light." He gets to his feet.
Julie raises her hand. "I can, Sig." Then she's eyeing Owen. "Wanna be m' relief man?"
Signe says "Owen, I don't know what you're talking about."
Kaz then notes, "Think I can persuade my crew t'hold a section, sure. Us'n Elan can hook up."
Yi glances to Sepdet, eyes a little questioning as to whether Avalon will get involved here too.
Joey crosses his arms. "I'm willing to hook up with whoever's doing what."
Sepdet says very drily, "Owen's cautioning us to treat the spirits with the respect they deserve." She gives Yi a sharp nod. "On one side or the other, yes. If we do a two-pronged hunt, Avalon could take umbra and catch any banes that try to run. Of course, we could also be terribly outnumbered if the umbra's worse, so we'd better check it out carefully first."
Owen shrugs to Signe. "Maybe not. But then it's probably just a morphine dream." He looks to Julie and simply nods.
Eamon says "There's a whole slew of folks who ain't in packs. We could just lump 'em into temporary mission packs and have 'em patrol the sewers."
Signe nods to Kaz and Julie and then to Elan. She looks pleased with the general murmur of agreement. "Here's what I propose then. On tuesday, while we still have something of a moon, we do another scouting to see if this idea , this plan of attack, is still sound. See if it will be possible to attack and take the section around and under Harbor Park, and how feesible it would be to hold it. We can also take care of the banecruncher situation on Tuesday, too." She looks from Owen to Sepdet, and nods, still bemused, at the Strider. "Sound good?"
Sepdet nods at Signe. "All good except this: we may not have talens ready by then." She looks around seeking out a few familiar faces. "Who else can make 'em, anyway?"
Kaz's expression sours at mention of Banecruncher, but she nods.
Joey smiles, a little mischievously. "I'll be there for the Scout, hell yeah."
Julie says "Why not get some o' those really bright spotlights that run on batt'ries? You know, like mini suns? Think those'd hurt some o' the smaller critters?"
Julie adds, "That'd give folks time t' make the talens.
Yi lifts a brow at the 'Banecruncher situation.' She hasn't heard, apparently. Sepdet's plan for Avalon is nodded to, without objection. "With or without talens, I can scout Tuesday. Someone should relay this to Chaser, if she wishes to go. And Ethan, if he can." She glances around for Max and others.
Owen gives Eamon a sharp glare at his latest statement, growls lowly, then steps to the side to sit away from the main trhong of Garou.
Signe nods to Julie. "A good idea. You're in charge of getting some of those then Jules."
Eamon grins. "Maybe somebody could convince one of the more gullible Fangs to go down there and light the place up. You'd have to slather the bullshit on pretty damn thick to get one in the sewers, though."
Signe eyes Eamon, and mutters, "What Fangs?" Of course, her voice still carries.
Eamon says "Silver ones."
Kaz says, "Kristine's around. Somewhere. Want I should bug her?" She sounds curious.
Sepdet allows, "The Princess would probably be happy to be useful, if Robert-rhya can spare her from Guardian pack."
Julie nods, and also paces off to a more reclusive area of the seating, a scrap of paper and pencil nub tugged from a pocket as she sits. Already she is scribbling down things, muttering to herself as she does.
Kaz gets a fascinated look on her face. Grinning, suddenly, at Sepdet, she mutters, "... In a sewer... "
Signe looks to Sepdet then, "So gather what we can as far as talens, and the rest we'll just have to do with flashlights and the other things Julie gets for us. Now, who wants to be the front line of this scouting?"
Signe seems to completely dismiss the entire idea of Silver Fangs.
Joey raises a hand.
Yi gazes over towards Julie. "If you need help getting those spotlights, ask," she says.
J.D. shrugs a little. "Wherever ya need me."
Yi nods to Signe too, glancing over at Sepdet momentarily. "Third time's a charm," she utters.
Julie glances up at Yi, then nods. Yi can almost see the gears just aspinning in her mind's eye with ideas.
Signe shakes her head, "I'm not looking for individual volunteers right now. If you're here, I expect you to be willing to put it on the line. Or you wouldn't have shown up. what I need now is strategy for Tuesday night. Who's gonna be where, and teamed up with whom."
Julie says "I cou'd help up front, with lightin'."
Owen has his knife out again, but it isn't being used for stabbing himself. Instead, it's just being flipped. "Ain't much of a scout myself, so whatever you need."
Kaz, who knows her own limitations, says, "Max're Tim c'ld prolly do stuff."
Signe's eyes slide over to the Gnawer leaders--namely Kaz and Elan. "I expect Banecruncher to punch a hole, keep them as occupied as he can, while we scout the area. We'll make up teams that night, and spread out to see what we can discover."
Yi thinks about this. "We're starting below Harbor Park, then. We're keeping it a scouting mission, but if we have to fight our way out, then it will be so." She glances to Signe. "Unless you want to just hit them right there."
Signe nods to Yi. "Exactly. This is a scouting, not the attack. I just want to find out--if we can--if our plan is feesable. If you get it, obviously, fight. But the idea here is to sniff out our plan."
Kaz's expression sours again. "I'll be sure t'drill that int' his head, yeah."
Sepdet glances towards Yi. "Avalon team up with some Rat crew, Ring of Fire or the Troublemakers, depending." The second name is, apparently, addressed towards Kaz and Max. "I can halt a few banes for a moment or three if we get into trouble."
Kaz blinks at that name, and starts smiling, slowly. "Yeah, Sepdet, we can gleefully team up with you, sure."
Yi nods, casting glances over to Sepdet as she speaks and nods some more before giving Kaz a little grin.
Reggie rips open a bag of Cheetos, scattering radioactive orange dust as he crams a handful, and brings to drown the salty taste with beer before he does a double-take. There are other people in the room? And having a discussion? "A fight? Count me in, boys! What talens are needed?"
Signe leans back on her heals. "then I think we're done here tonight, except more minor strategizing."
Sepdet frowns, thinking over the layout. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to get this many Garou into a tight space, Signe, but I think that's it. Reggie, we need light and/or fire talens."
Jarred grins darkly at the discord.
Reggie snaps his orange-stained fingers. "Phone booth stuffing contest, and fire into the bargain. Got it."
Julie says "Cou'd split the scoutin' up through the diff'rent entries int' the sewers 'round Harbor Park, an' work their way t'wards it."
Kaz blinks at Reggie a little. "12. Gnawers fit in one. Fire'd be good, though, yeah."
Signe answers, "I don't think we will need to. We won't need all of us in the same space."
"Then those that want to go Tuesday, should get together again before Tuesday. If talens can be made before, then whoever has some can bring them to the pre-scout meeting," Yi suggests in Signe's direction.
Signe nods, pointing to Julie.
Owen gets back to his feet. "I'll be in the background. But if a fight starts, folks had best get out of the way."
Sepdet gives Julie a quiet thumb's up. "I was wondering if that might work. We have a plan." She gives Signe a toothy grin. "And something worthwhile to get our teeth sunk into, Jarl. Congratulations on getting this many packs into one space."
Reggie slurps Cheetos dust from his fingers, and offers a random word between slurps, "Flamethrowers."
Kaz asks, rather intently, "Can you /get/ any?"
Signe's eyes glitter. though she doesn't mean to show the Strider how pleased she is, it's fairly obvious just the same.
Julie says "Jus' let me know yer comin', Owen, so I can light yer way."
Reggie slurps down beer, as he replies with an inquiry. "Twelve? Got a picture to prove that?"
Kaz shakes her head. "Only polaroid I had of it got eaten in by a fomori back in '99."
Reggie replies, "Dang. Lemme see what I can do", he leaves it ambigious as to which he's referring, the flamethrowers or stuffing Gnawers in a booth.
Signe considers what Blades says, her natural scowl returning. "Not a bad idea, a pre-scout meeting. It can wait til the night before, so we can count the talens and make sure the teams are settled exactly."
Julie says "You can get thirteen in, if'n they ain't eaten yet."
Kaz seems to understand this on some level, as she asks, "I assume you mean the throwers and not the stuffin'?"
Sepdet finishes off her drink and sets it down near any empties she sees, smiling faintly at the usual rat-banter. "If that's it, I'll be getting back to the caern to hunt up a few other talen-shapers," she tells Signe. "Might as well get the woods-folk to help, since they have an easier place to patrol."
Reggie smiles enigmatically. "Maybe."
Kaz looks vaguely alarmed. "I'll cross my fingers," she mutters.
Yi nods and sets her now empty Guinness bottle down beside her on the stage. "Maybe napalm," she says quietly, eyeing the empty bottle with some thought. "But the glass underfoot would hurt."
Signe says to the Strider, the Get more respectful and more serious than one might expect, "Thank you, Strider."
Owen gives Sedpet a quick nod. "You already got recepticles, at least." He then walks over to stand beside Signe.
Jarred decides he's heard enough and moves from against the wall, passing Yi on his way out. "Yi, would you be good enough to fill me in on whatever the plan ends up being? It doesn't look like much was resolved here."
Signe adds, turning back to the discussion, "I like the idea of flame throwers, but please---not near the gas lines. If there are sections of the sewers where we /know/ no gas lines run, then maybe."
The aforementioned Strider does the faintest of doubletakes, while automatically tapping her priestess-lock in a formal salute. "Gaia keep you," she tells the rest. Jarred gets a rather bemused look.
Kaz looks completely confused at Jarred, in fact.
J.D.'s eyes narrow at the Shadow Lord, and she snorts as he moves past her on his way to the door.
Signe continues to ignore the shadow Lord, completely.
Yi glances to Jarred, nodding even though not really agreeing with his words.
Max returns from whatever task drew her away from the meeting in time to hear Jarred's snide commentary. She asks Kaz, low toned, as she crouches down behind her on the stage, "Who died'n made Yi Crotchsniffer's blowgirl?"
Julie mutters to herself, "Nine-volt batt'ries, 'lectrical tape, wire, Mag-lites..." her pencil stub scratching away on the piece of rumpled paper.
Elan stands up and cracks his knuckles. "I'll be here."
Jarred glances around him and smiles into the frowns. "Best of luck, all. Hope most of you coma back alive."
Signe thanks Elan with a look, too, and then grabs herself a Guinness--her first for the night.
As Sepdet departs, there is a soft faint sound in Yi's ear that sounds suspiciously like dry laughter. And a whisper that seems to come from the floor. Look for me in the forest, friend.
Julie says "Hey, El'n, got some spare 'luminum...aw, rats."
Owen catches Signe by the shoulder as she gets her beer. "A word?" he asks.
J.D. mutters, mostly towards Kaz and Max, it seems, "Gee, sounds like he's not planning on coming, eh?"
Max grunts and mutters something lower under her breath, her forearms settling on her knees as she remains crouched.
Kaz shrugs. "Mebbe she's just politer than some've us. Anyways, talk t'Yi if y'wanna do scoutin' f'Tuesday. Harbor Park, underside." She blinks thoughtfully at Julie. "Check th' Rialto basement, hey?"
Julie marks on the paper again, nodding absently to Kaz, though not looking up.
Reggie takes the departure of the Lord as an event worthy of christening with a fresh bottle of beer. "Hell, gas explosions would be a fast way to clean any place out. As long as you're not in there, too." He shrugs ina rolling motion. "I'll bring a lighter for anyone afraid of a little flamethrower."
Yi gives her pack alpha a nod in reply as she leaves, and glances momentarily towards Kaz and Max's direction as she thinks she overhear's her name mentioned. Then she glances to Julie. "The junkyard has lots of car things, headlights, if you need them Julie," she offers.
Kaz says "Yeah, but an explosion, that'll kinda fuck up electricity an' everythin' else, y'know?"
Signe looks at Reggie as if he were a leper who'd just slept in her bed, unasked. "Cept we want the city standing, when we're done. Who are you, anyway?"
Julie glances at Reggie, "There's more'n just gas lines down there, there's methane pockets an' stuff.." An 'oh, yeah!' look is given Yi, and she is scribbling some more, turning the paper over for more space.
J.D. nods to Max, and pushes away from the wall she was holding up, to walk towards Julie. "You need a workshop, power tools, all that shit, jus'get wit'me, 'ey?"
Julie glances up at JD. "Well, actu'lly, I can get the stuff, an' see it in m' head, but puttin' it t'gether? Ain't too easy for me. Cou'd you?"
Max's attention settles upon Reggie, her dark eyes glimmering as she sizes the stranger up. "Holy Timothy McVey, Batman."
J.D. taps her skull with an index finger. "S'what I do."
Kaz adds, "She's damn fast, too."
Signe throws Jd a brief but fairly proud look before turning her full attention back to Reggie.
Reggie begins to throw up his hands, but, confronted with the need to hold on to his beer, he rolls his eyes up instead. "I heard someone asking for fire. More than one person. Trying to help out's just a bad idea." He swings the beer.
Julie nods. "Cool. I'll scrounge stuff up, an' draw up somethin' for you, an' if'n you need more, 'r diff'rent stuff, I can get it for you, too."
Max's attention slides to JD and Julie and a hint of a smirk touches her lips. "Peanut Butter 'n freakin' jelly. /That's/ a pack waitin' t'happen." The words are low-spoken, hardly drifting past the stage itself.
J.D. nods. "I prolly got some stuff, can use. Good wit' workin' out ideas in other people's heads into drawin's, too, if ya need."
Junior heads off after Elan, after listening a few more moments.
Kaz looks thoughtful herself.
Julie chews her lip a moment. "Cool. I'm thinkin' somethin' 'long the lines o' a light that uses bulbs for folks with skin conditions, cuz they're like intensified sunlight. But somethin' portable, kinda like a small backpack."
Signe eyes the beer, then eyes Reggie agian, her nose wrinkling. "Kaz," she barks to get the Gnawer's attention. "Is this piece of shit one of yours?"
Yi has her second Guinness half emptied by now, her eyes still scanning and ears listening to the various thoughts and ideas being said. She glances over to Signe. "And what of the maps there," she asks, pointing towards the papers and whatnot set aside from the food and drink on the stage.
Julie pages to the room: Oh, yeah, bringing portable Hollywood Spotlights into the sewers. ;D
You paged the room with 'With uprising porn stars like Bruno the Bane...'.
From afar, to the room, Signe just eyes Yi. Umm... :)
From afar, to the room, Julie is dead!
Max's attention snaps over to Signe at the jarl's tone. She tips her head toward one shoulder and regards Uktena and Get from safely behind Kaz.
Kaz stares at Signe in vague shock. "Who, us? No, he's Uktena."
Reggie hesitates, then decides as long as Signe isn't addressing him directly, he can continue drinking beer.
Yi glances up and towards Reggie at mention of him being Uktena. "Uktena, like Duane Flamecaller?"
Owen rolls his eyes, unable to get Signe's attention, Jarred's attitude, and now with Reggie. He goes back to finding a seat.
Kaz considers that. "He's Uktena, but he ain't nohow like Duane."
Signe looks vaguely shocked to hear what Kaz has to say. "An Uktena?" she asks, soundig as shocked as she looks. "The hell. Listen, dough-boy,, when you're done feeding your face, tell me how you can be useful, or get out. The smell's turning my beer sour."
Julie abruptly gets up, shoving pencil stub and paper into her coat pocket. "I'm gonna see what I can scrounge up, an' get some sleep." You know, she never did get something to eat, despite all the food, and being a Gnawer, and such. "Night." There is not quite a smile on her face, but the idea is there, as she throws a haphazard wave at the people gathered, turning to head for the door.
Kaz calls, "Later, Jules."
Owen gives Julie a little wave.
Yi gives the departing galliard a nod and a wave. "See you around," she says.
Max lifts her voice to call after Julie, "Adios, chica."
Reggie's necessity for responding to Yi mostly pre-empted by Kaz, he rolls his shoulders in a shrug, then adds a smirk at Kaz's phrasing. Signe's tone cuts through to him, and he lowers his bottle with a frown descending on him. "You running this?", he asks in a rhetorical tone. "That little--", he gestures vaguely, not bothering to determine if Sepdet's still in the building, "--asked for talen makers. I heard her", he repeats, his tone wavering, uncertain. "Fire. Light. I got good ears."
Signe asks the Uktena, "You're a theurge?"
Kaz grunts. "Y'all turn out the lights when you're done eatin'." She glances at the Ragabash next to her. "You wanna come with on patrol?"
Reggie grunts, and struggles against a belch fighting to make its presense. "Nah." He pauses momentarily as the belch makes its way out through his nose, and he coughs from the sting of it. "Ahroun. I've worked with theurges. And convince spirits to work in talens."
Quick as a Silver Fang asked to patrol the sewers can disappear, Max is up from her crouch and hopping off the stage. "I gotcher back, Zee."
Signe nods at this, but still looks nontheless displeased. "Well, do me a favor and 'work' with them downwind from me. Yes I'm running this." She leaves it at that and moves to get off the stage.
This gets a small grin from Kaz. "Yeah," she says, quietly, "I know," and heads for the door.
Reggie exhales considerably as Signe removes her focus from him.
Owen abandons his search for a seat to try and catch Signe one more time. "Signe, please?"
Signe nods to Owen. "Yeah?"
Yi finishes her second bottle of beer, and sets the empty container beside her first. She coughs softly and hops off the stage, picking up the fallen bottlecaps before placing them in her pockets and starting to gather the trash around.
Owen takes in a long breath. "Alright, dammit. Let's go, first."
Signe looks confused, and also irritated. "What? What do you mean?"
Owen crosses his arms over his chest. "I'm sayin' lets go out and talk, Signe."
Yi takes a long glance at the two Get and continues the Rialto cleanup. Her gaze goes up to Reggie briefly, then she motions towards the food. "If there's still anything you want, best take it now while it's still out. Cleanup crew is here." She smirks a little.
Signe gets impatient and angry. "Owen, if it doesn't have anything to do with this war council, then save it for some other time when I /have/ time. right now I've got too much shit to do /tonight/ to deal with your bullshit. If it's important, and can't wait til later, say so, otherwise, I have somewhere I'm late for."
Reggie takes the opportunity to leave his empties for Yi to collect, as he comes up with an excuse, "I think I left my motor running."
Yi unpockets a folded up black trashbag, nodding to Reggie. "See you. Hope those talen makings go well," she adds after the ragged Uktena as she slips the empty beer bottles into the bag.
J.D. watches Yi quietly for a moment, then blinks, "Hey. Can I have the glass?" Reggie slips out of the place about as well as anyone of his bulk can slip. Reggie has disconnected.
"My bullshit?" Owen fumes. "Goddammit, Signe I came in here listening to you talk about the kinfolk. If you ain't got the time for an old packmate AND a tribesmate..." He doesn't finish that remark and just walks out.
Signe lets him go, figuring she can catch up with him later. The Get looks like there really /is/ somewhere she's truly late for.
Yi glances up at J.D.'s question and nods. "Sure," she says to the galliard, taking out the bottles and setting them on the stage. "There for your taking, otherwise they're going to be recycled." She gazes momentarily towards Owen and his outburst, and shakes her head slightly before stooping to pick up trash.
J.D. rubs her chin, "Nah, keepin' 'em in a bag is fine. I just think I might 'recycle' 'em someway else. If not, I'll take 'em to th'cycling place m'self."
Yi gives J.D. another odd glance, as if she keeps thinking she's seen the Get somewhere else, but then shrugs and slips the bottles back into the bag. "Ok," comes the nomoon's reply as she goes about efficiently cleaning up. The maps of the sewers that were left get piled into a neat pile to be taken, stashed and studied later, and the left over food in another pile to be put in the fridge.
Long distance to the room: Yi is gonna go, but assume she did the stuff she was gonna do, took the maps, and buggered on outta there. :)
