Joey, once he's under the streets, takes a moment to shift down to a faster Lupus form. He sniffs around, looking back to the others.
Kaz unstraps her light and offers it to Joey, silently.
Signe crouches at the manhole as the spearing part of the team heads down into the darkness. "Who's got the lights?"
Smokes-the-Weed sits down on his haunches, and looks to the Metis. You sure/ Kaz mutters, under her breath, "I'm sure. You need it more'n I do, if you're in front."
Smokes-the-Weed shifts back up, taking the harness slowly and quietly. He nods, once, and shuffles to get it equipped properly.
Julie murmurs, too, "Don' worry, I gots one, too."
John maneuvers over to Signe. "I don't need lights, but I can spot anything touched by the Wyrm. I might be better off just behind point, or as a rearguard." He says, quietly.
Nemini pages to the room: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. My name in Nemini, and I'll be your GM for this flight.
Signe claps the Walker on the back. "If you're willing, Mr. Walker, I'm sure the Gnawers will let you go first. Behind Banecruncher, that is."
Banecruncher sits and watches down the tunnel while waiting for the others to sort themselves out.
Joey rubs his chin, thinking. He near-whispers the next. "Ok, me and Max a little ahead for sneaking. Max, can you Blur?"
Owen uncovers his axe from his jacket, then mutters something about being sure the whole place is wyrmy. Once folks are all in and and positioned, he shifts on up tot he warform, dragging claws along the mossy concrete.
Kaz notes that her packmate can, even if she's not, in fact, actually here yet.
Kaz also adds, in a mutter, "We can let him in with the scouts, sure."
John smiles grimly. "Good." The smile fades quickly. Nodding to Banecruncher he murmurs, "How close do I watch your back?"
Signe says quickly to John, "You don't worry about Baney. You worry about everyone else."
Banecruncher rumbles thoughtfully. Close enough you can slow any down that get past me.
John emits an almost-snort. "They won't get past." Taking Owen's lead, he shifts up to the warform, and slowly - deliberately - begins scraping his claws along the concrete.
You paged the room with 'Way I'm seeing it, it'll be Joey and Max, then Baney so he can lurch ahead when needed, then John, then Junior, Jules and I for support. (And Signe and Owen, too.) That work for everyone else?'.
Julie adjusts the pack around her waist, then hefts the flashlight case in her hand, before stepping up beside Kaz to wait for the go-ahead.
Banecruncher shifts up to war-form and nods approval, then begins sharpening his claws on the nearest concrete.
Kaz shifts into hispo, looking a little disgruntled at the necessity.
Junior nods to Joey. "You be careful up front." He shifts up to Crinos, and starts to hone his claws for the coming action as well.
From afar, to the room, Signe asks Nemini first how wide the tunnels are in this section, so we know /if/ Baney can get past the ragabashes, and how much room we have to fight.
From afar, to the room, Joey has a queston. If I have this fannypack/light on, if I loosened it, could I shift to Glabro and not break it?
Nemini pages to the room: Around here, it's roughly two wide. Baney can get past the ragabashes in a not-too-massive form (homid or lupus, basically) if they hug the sides.
Julie pages to the room: Yup, you sure can, Joey. :)
Julie needs her hands, so a bit of thought, and her form grows only a bit, as she takes on Glabro, fingers quickly adjusting the fit of the pack around her waist.
Joey loosens the pack until he is sure his Glabro bulk can hold it without breaking it. Once he shifts, he keeps his back to the side, looking ahead. Long distance to Signe: Ears eyes Heidi glumly. Should we say she's not here, or should I puppet her?
Nemini pages to the room: People or wolves. Glabro would be a tightish fit. One crinos would be bending over.
Banecruncher shrinks back down to a size that can actually move down here.
Joey inches forward a little, turning on his Blur Gift as everyone's adjusting. He waits for a signal to move.
Junior finishes sharpening his claws, and goes down to hispo.
Walks-Thin-Ice tests the space by stretching his arms out, but as the claws touch, and his elbows are still bent... he scowls and shifts down into the more managable hispo form.
Signe blurs down to all fours as well, the Get's hide toughening, warting, thickening. She, like the other ahrouns, sharpens her claws against the cement of the tunnel.
Joey, Blurred, heads into the sewer tunnel, towards Osprey. This having been arranged ahead of time, the rest follow along behind, hopefully as silently as possible, Kaz and Julie sticking fairly close to each other. Banecruncher is quite close to Joey, as close as possible given cramped room and Blurred people.
Walks-Thin-Ice shuffles up behind Banecruncher, but not too close - leaving the other Garou enough room to fight comfortably.
Chaser searches out the Garou in the dark, a lupine form moving through the shadows. Those in wolf-form might catch the scent or the fall of a step in dank water before the Get snorts a quiet sound. She works her way past Signe, seeking the ones who have gone ahead.
Nemini pages to the room: Ragabash in the front, then. :) Okay.
Nemini pages to the room: Light sources?
Bruises pages to the room: Joey has one of Julie's contraptions. And John's a glow-meister. Dunno what others we have.
From afar, Joey has the Julie/Fannypack/Light. I think it was Katina's.
From afar, to the room, Joey believes Kaz has one of Katina's Talens, given by sepdet.
Long distance to the room: Ears has Katina's talen.
Walks-Thin-Ice pages to the room: I don't light up the room. I just see Wyrm-things.
Julie pages to the room: Julie'll have instructed whoever's got her and JD's lights can only use them for burning little banes, since the batteries'll only last about 5 minutes.
Chaser sidles up to walk even with Ears, silently. She keeps to one side of the passage, away from the light, and calls upon the blurring gift to melt her further into the shadows.
Nemini pages: Plan of attack? :)
Long distance to Nemini: Ears uses it, then. Presuming it can be activated in hispo. Er. Attack? We haven't /seen/ anything yet./
Nemini pages: Turn of phrase. Figure of speech. You just walking along towards Osprey Crcle until you see something?
Long distance to Nemini: Ears nods. Exploring. Carefully. Looking out for, in Joey's words, "Horrible Evil."
The pack begins moving slowly north, making their slow way along despite the chill in the air and the darkness of the tunnels. The sewers are anything but quiet--rats scurry here and there, drops plip slowly, and the group as a whole trudges through. Those in lupus find it difficult to get past the smell, much more pervasive to the canine's sensitive nose. The area immediately near to Harbor Park seems to be relatively clean, though the ragabash in front may suspect that not all of the scurrying is rats.
Joey whispers, very softly, out of the darkness, "Company, up ahead." Banecruncher strains to hear whatever Joey might have detected and prepares to leap if it makes itself apparent. Walks-Thin-Ice reaches forwards to touch Banecruncher and sniffs lightly. ~Don't sell yourself cheap.~ Julie looks about, her hand tight around the light in her hand, anxious to flip it on. Breathing through her mouth, the nearly 20-year-old gal tries to avoid some of the stench. She does nod to herself upon hearing Joey. Bruises sticks it out in hispo despite the smell, her keen eyesight worth the distraction of the stench. She moves along through the murk beside Joey, ears swivelling at each sound measuringly before flicking toward the next. The hairs on the back of the blurred ragabash's neck and tail are raised. She does nod to herself upon hearing Joey. Ears just tenses, as does Junior, getting ready to move quicker as needed.
Chaser stays close to the point position, just at the left-hand edge of the light, senses straining to search the darkness ahead.
The sewers get darker as the group continues; there is more slime on the walls, and the stench increases gradually. The scurrying sounds are also increasing in frequency, though not yet in volume nor, it seems, in proximity. Drips fall from the roof with increasing regularity; it seems to be getting wetter down here, as well. Between the darkness and the smell, both homid and lupus are hindered quite a bit, making it difficult to tell what's much farther ahead of the scouts.
Joey thinks on this, and makes a decision. "Stay close, guys. I don't trust this," he whispers. Bruises growls low in assent, snorting quietly in a doomed effort to clear the corrupted scent from her nose as she moves along beside Joey, measuring his proximity by the wet sound of his steps and the occasional whisper. Banecruncher doesn't say anything. Junior just sticks close and keeps his eyes and ears open. Walks-Thin-Ice starts checking behind himself, just to make sure. He snorts at the comment, but moves up a little closer to Banecruncher. ~I trust this to get messy. Unexpectedly. Now, quiet.~ The closeness, smell, and darkness make both Kaz and Julie more nervous by the minute, and Julie in particular is tense as a cat in a rocking chair shop. "Yeah", she whispers in agreement with Joey. Kaz just nods, all three moving up stick behind the Walker.
Chaser contorts and blurs as she is transformed. Chaser shifts into Hispo form.
Owen, as the rest press forward at whatever pace, will manage to keep at least some attention behind him.
Defiant-Storm gets a little impatient. Waiting has never been her strongpoint, ever, and she growls low and quiet in her throat and remains closest to the other Get ahroun.
In the darkness, the scuttling gets closer, though not necessarily any louder, generally retreating away from the scouting party. More of it is almost definitely not rats, now--the clicks against the concrete are less several claws, more distinct. Something brushes against Banecruncher's leg, dead or alive is hard to tell. Whatever-it-is moves on quickly, continuing downstream. The darkness continues to deepen, almost to the point of being difficult to see one's hand in front of one's face. In the darkness, every drop, every scuttle, every splash seems magnified.
Long distance to Nemini: Ears thought she activated the talen.
Nemini pages: Hrm. I must've missed that page. Go ahead and activate it now, and I'll include it in the next response-pose.
Bruises snaps her jaws at the darkness, her head low to the slurry they splash through. She tries, in vain, to peer through the palpable blackness. Joey mutters something to the group, and then moves a little closer, hoping, but ready to bolt back should anything happen. Banecruncher rumbles quietly in his chest and moves slightly to the side so he can leap past Joey without getting tangled. Walks-Thin-Ice snarls, a little more audibly, something about ~Less talk.~ Julie whispers something, but Kaz shakes her head. Deciding the darkness is somewhat inhibiting to actual scouting, even if it hides them as well, Kaz finally activates the talen, despite muttered words from the Walker. Junior growls very, very softly, staring forward into the gloom towards Joey.
Long distance to Nemini: Ears can page you alla these whispered words if you want.
Defiant-Storm pages to the room: For my own benefit, how far into the tunnel is the spearing group? Where exactly are they in relation to the exit manhole we entered, near the fountain?
Chaser snarls quietly as the light flares into existence. ~Warn, when you make light,~ she growls irritably.
Suddenly, the tunnel is ablaze with light, as the light of a winter's day at noon pours forth out of the talen in Kaz's hand. There is a shriek up ahead, and more scuttling, this time definitely away from the scouting party. For a brief moment, almost everyone is blinded, and spots continue to dance across the group's vision for a while yet.
Owen manages to cuss down all of the Apostles in one exasperated sentence as the light blinds him for a short time.
Chaser speeds her pace, moving out and to one side, traveling at the edge of the light's reach.
Joey blinks and presses himself against the side of the tunnel, inching backwards slightly. Max, too, blinks, other senses straining. Banecruncher's eyes being somewhat protected, he just growls and watches. The Walker growls at the metis, who growls back at him; both are trying to blink the spots from their eyes, as is Julie, peering down the tunnel warily.
Bruises speeds up and forward, spreading out the lead with the other ragabashes, scouting the forward edge of the light.
Chaser snarls a warning and takes a step back, into the edge of the light. Her hackles are up.
Chaser contorts and blurs as she is transformed. Chaser shifts into Crinos form.
Joey is hoping his eyes are clear, and once they are, he peers down the tunnel, now easily scanned in the light, to see what the group is dealing with. Bruises joins in this effort. Julie starts a bit at Chaser's warning growl, and narrows her eyes, trying even harder to peer into the distance, Kaz growling softly behind her. Banecruncher stalks forward, hackles raised, prepared to deal death. Assuming he can get around the crinos, that is. Walks-Thin-Ice follows up after Banecruncher regardless of his sudden lack of sight, accidentally bumping the walls here and there, mostly just following the other Garou by sound and smell. Junior tenses, hackles raising at Chaser's warning. He peers ahead, blinking to try and clear the rest of the spots from his eyes.
Nemini pages to the room: Given the light and all ... call it 40' or so in front of the others?
Chaser snarls back, ~Defiant-Storm! We have enemy!~ Then, quieter, ~It stays out of the light. Bring the light forward.~
Ears obligingly edges somewhat further forward.
There is the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard, but something--whatever it is--moves obligingly back as the light comes forward.
Defiant-Storm moves foreward toward the group, too impatient to remain near the manhole. The hispo crouches and shuffles through the tunnel to a position just a little behind the main group.
Chaser, hunched uncomfortably in the tunnel, edges forward at Ears's side. From afar, to Banecruncher, Ears, Joey, Bruises, Julie, and Junior, Walks-Thin-Ice looks at Joey. ~Banecruncher. Take the light then charge?~
Nemini pages to the room: You'd estimate a bit beyond. I was presuming you were being very cautious with moving forwards.
Joey, on hearing Chaser's words, flattens himself against the wall, letting folks, including Lupus Ahrouns, past. His breathing quickens a little, and his fingers edge towards the light pack around his body. Bruises growls low from Chaser's right flank to give the advancing Garou an idea of where she is, up against the slimy wall of the sewer. John, meanwhile, growls something softly at Kaz, who disagrees softly and hands the talen over to Chaser. Banecruncher moves forward with the light, edging as close to the edge of it as he can get so that if it reveals itself, he can attack. Julie, heartened by the retreat of whatever is hiding ahead, slowly steps forward as the point moves, though she and Junior stay back unless ordered to rush.
Well, unless people suddenly all became contortionists, Owen is stuck in the back. Not to happy about that, he fumes a bit, but there he stays.
Chaser holds out a clawed hand to refuse the talen. As Ears advances, she moves even with the other, staying close to the wall opposite Bruises. She drops down to the Hispo again.
Chaser contorts and blurs as she is transformed. Chaser shifts into Hispo form.
Ears, still with talen, retreats slightly from the scouts.
As the light moves back, the fingernails-on-chalkboard sound returns, approaching from ahead. Perhaps surprisingly, though, the sound also comes from behind, retreating there as the light approaches the back of the group once again.
~Wonderful,~ Chaser snarls. ~Defiant-Storm! You give word.~
Defiant-Storm turns around, when she hears the sound behind her. ~Back,~ She commands with a growl, leading--since they've all turned around--the group toward the fountain's manhole, she and Lion's Roar moving in that direction first.
Chaser growls an acquiescence, angry and reluctant, turning to stay within the circle of the light.
Joey lets a few people get past him before he heads to the back, towards the sounds behind them. His hand is on the 'on' button for the pack/light, ready to activate it at a moment's notice. He follows the Get, understanding. Banecruncher falls to the rear when the command to go back is given, so that if the one that was in front of them gets close enough to attack, he'll be there to meet it. Julie backs up, following the order, but she is keeping her attention on the back of the group. Junior growls, turning to follow the others back. He stays pressed to one side of the tunnel, in case the no-moons need to get through quickly. Kaz grunts vaguely, as John says, ~It's running away, we're not chasing! /What have you got to risk/, Banecruncher?~ Kaz sort of gives him a brief but empathic glare, and starts back herself. Max falls in beside Kaz, flanking her with Chaser, growling low, queryingly.
Owen turns as Defiant-Storm commands, turning to all fours to move forward at a clip.
From afar, to the room, Nemini would like to know, for what certainly should be obvious reasons, if anyone's /not/ staying within the light cast by the talen.
From afar, to the room, Owen will advance beyond. Brave, dumb me. :)
From afar, to the room, Banecruncher falls back to the edges of the light.
You paged the room with 'Being as I have it with me, I can't. Max and Chas aren't, either, obviously.'.
Walks-Thin-Ice pages to the room: I'm just in front of Baney. I don't know if that covers me or not.
Simultaneously, Banecruncher and Owen are enveloped in darkness, and those nearest them, Walks-Thin-Ice and Defiant-Storm, can feel waves of cold coming from whatever has attacked them. The shadows themselves seem to grow claws and tear into the Bone Gnawer, while the Get is seemingly just, for now, swallowed by the dark.
Defiant-Storm's growled command is for the group to move quicly as a whole, to bring the light, and she herself leaps into the darkness. Aiming herself as best she can at where she knows Owen is, she bares claws and teeth, ready to rake the dark Thing.
Chaser snarls a warning and turns back, looking for the Gnawer in the encroaching dark. She claws at the darkness as if to tear it aside, her teeth looking for a grip on the Garou to drag him out of it if need be.
Joey sees the sudden attack, and his instincts take over. He steps forward, behind Signe and John, saying "Say Cheese" before he turns on the lights Julie gave him, full tilt. Julie growls and snaps her own light on, and advances in the opposite direction of Joey, lighting the other direction of the tunnel, and advancing that way.Walks-Thin-Ice growls at Chaser, ~Hang back. Watch what it does to him. Learn from his sacrifice. He was /meant/ to die, yes?~ His voice suggests that he's telling this to himself as much as Chaser, his body poised to leap. Kaz growls agreement. ~He fucked up. He dies,~ and heads towards Signe's group. Junior snarls, heading towards the front to help Defiant-Storm clear the way through, searching for a target to attack. Banecruncher, meanwhile, turns into a furry vegematic.
Owen can be heard to snarl loudly as he's somehow violated by whatever is in the dark. This is soon followed by a much more ominous sounding snarl, one full of anger and promises of retribution. Junior snarls, heading towards the front to help Defiant-Storm clear the way through, searching for a target to attack.
The darkness-creatures both shriek as the lights are turned on them, and as they shriek, the light bulbs for both lights pop loudly, leaving the single talen as the main source of light once again. In the split second, though, both creaures could be seen as inky black; the one on Banecruncher more solid, while the one enveloping Owen is much more fluid. Chaser and Banecruncher both shred at the darkness, which is bone-chillingly cold to the touch. To the other side of the group, Owen's snarl actually gives the thing pause for a moment as it seems to examine exactly what it has in its grasp.
Julie growls in anger as her light is blown. She tears off the fanny pack and throws it aside, and shifts to Hispo, more able to fight in this form. Walks-Thin-Ice shifts up to homid form, and reaches deep into his jacket, withdrawing a sleek, silvery 9mm. As Banecruncher writhes, shredding and biting, John unloads his weapon, and starts ejecting bullets from the clip. "Hang in there, Banecruncher," he growls.
Owen work just to keep his mouth and nose free, snarling once again at the pool of black snot that has enveloped him while letting the others claw and rend the thing at its hesitation. Ears follows after Junior, tooth and claw driving into the darkness. Max follows, growling something quietly. Defiant-Storm issues a rageful snarl, sinking teeth into the inky creature and shaking to try and loosen its grip on Owen. Joey, once the bulbs pop, hustles to rid himself of the thing. Once he does, the gnawer shifts down to Hispo, on the heels of the Ahrouns.
Banecruncher keeps fighting, shredding at the thing enveloping him, still moving extremely fast. Chaser keeps fighting, also, snarling for the Gnawer to fall back into the light.
The thing on Owen extends a pseudopod and reaches out for Junior, one of the next nearest targets, finding its current victim not entirely to its liking. It lashes around Junior's wrist, its numbing cold spreading throughout his body even as the others attack it, concentrating on the tentacle and the main body, still on Owen. Kaz slices at the tentacle twice, and it falls off, evaporating into the darkness as it falls. Signe, meanwhile, slices parts of it off of Owen; some of the parts reattach, some fade away. To the other side, Banecruncher and Chaser both rip at the beast holding the Bone Gnawer; its grip seems to weaken somewhat as the pair tear at it, pulling away bits of it.
You paged Nemini with 'Er. Did she slice Owen's, or Junior's?'.
Nemini pages: Kaz sliced the tentacle connecting Owen's and Junior's.
Walks-Thin-Ice eyes Chaser and Banecruncher's fighting, and takes a moment to look for the other scouts. As he finishes clearing the clip, he reaches into his pocket, and withdraws two silver bullets. As he loads them into the clip, he tells Julie, "Stay back. At least until I get these into the bane." Turning back and taking aim, he appears to be waiting for something. He mutters something about "... more light..." Julie reluctantly pauses, growling her displeasure as she crouches, body quivering with anticipation of the fight. And still, the Junkyard Gnawer keeps up his wild attack, shredding, as if making a bane salad.
Owen at this point explodes into action, blurring as he struggles from with the black goo. Junior growls, shuddering at the cold, and shifts to a hunched-over Crinos to get hands. ~Scoop and throw on this one.~ He starts to rake at the thing, trying to slice bits off and throw them away from the main body. Ears slices, now, at Junior's tentacle, blurring with the speed of Rage. Max slashes lower down, at the darkness emanating beneath Owen. Braves-Fire, instead, decides to tear into the thing wholesale. Defiant-Storm presses her attack as well.
Before and behind, Garou claws and teeth tear into the darkness, with the light talen also causing the one on Owen to melt away still more. Walks-Thin-Ice fires once into the bane being attacked by Banecruncher and Caser, as the pair back there also shred it, but not before it tears another chunk out of Banecruncher's shoulder. The bodies of both creatures fade into the darkness, but the rest of the ordered retreat is clear, back to the fountain and the manhole.
Owen straightens up as much as he can. ~Alright. I officially hate tight places to fight in.~ he snarls. He then directs folks back out the way they came, remaining to be the last out. Even Banecruncher, should he so chose. It wasn't his decision to make, anyhow.
As some leave, John stands still, his arm and gun hanging from his side. "What... this is it? We hit trouble, so we leave?"
Ears snarls something quietly to the Walker.
You paged John with 'We come back. With fewer people. As soon as possible. Get the picture?'.
Junior looks to John. ~This is scouting. We know some things now - next trip is better. Got to fix better lights, for one.~
Julie shakes off the adrenalin rush, then shifts back to homid, grumbling at Kaz, then muttering to John. "Justa scoutin' party, dude." She trudges past the Metis and to the manhole. "Le's go, Kaz."
John's eyes narrow and he nods tightly to the metis. He throws a look back to where the body dissolved, and considers looking for the bullet, but just scowls at Junior and moves towards the manhole instead, grumbling, "We /scouted/ about fifteen feet. All of us in a /line/ is ten..." He continues up to the surface without saying any more.
Banecruncher looks around in annoyance and pads toward the others. Next time, we hit harder. Not going to waste death without others behind me to take advantage of the opening.
Ears studies the lupus, and finally nods. She follows after Julie silently.
Owen gives John a look of nothing short of disgust at the gun he carries. He still remains last to make sure all leave. ~Come on. Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you.~
Junior grins at Owen, shifting back to homid before hitting the surface.
Harbor Park Fountain
Situated in the center of a large, open meadow is a clustering of six trees, a
flower bed, a few benches, and a plywood wall barricade. The area where the
fountain was, and presumably the new fountain will be, is currently enclosed by
high plywood walls. There is a door in one of the walls, firmly locked with a
stout-looking padlock. The walls enclose much of the flagstone area, now, only
leaving a little around the edges of the old courtyard. Scraggly hedges line one
side of the courtyard, just behind some mostly graffiti-free benches and a chain
link fence. Cars on the nearby street have an excellent view of the park as do
any residents of the tall buildings which line the waterfront. The park is
almost constantly devoid of people as its reputation for being one of the most
violent and dangerous places in the city spreads.
The murky waters of the Columbia River flow swiftly along the east side of the
park. Bracketing the park to the west is First Street and the city of St.
Claire. A meadow surrounds the small glade.

Guido grimaces and mutters under his breath. "Anyone got a coat? Don't wanna sniff up any cops." Given the way he's leaking blood, that's a good point.
Kaz, having shifted up, hands Baney her trenchcoat. It seems to have about 20 billion things in various different pockets.
Guido rumbles and gives Kaz a grateful look as he throws the coat over himself. "Back to the church. Can heal up there."
Julie glances about at the troupe, then just meanders off, grumbling to herself about weak bulbs and GE stock.
Kaz calls at Julie, "Was a good try, Jules. Catch you later."
Julie waves over her head back at Kaz as she continues on. "Later, Kaz."
John stands, scowling and carefully removing the remaining bullet from his clip. "That was..." He gives up before he starts, and shakes his head, angrily.
Kaz explains to John, "That was crowded and useless. Your point?"
Owen steps out and gives John a stern look before heading on out. "I don't want to ever see you carry a coward's weapon when you're running with me ever again." He then turns and goes.
John pointedly ignores Owen, and just waves a hand in frustration. "Two parties, two directions. Start from one place, there's not much chance of something creeping in between." He looks like he wants to say more, for perhaps the first time in his life... but just finishes putting away the bullet and replacing his sidearm. "Fuck it." He growls. "I've gotta check on my cub."
Kaz says, briefly, "Two scouts. Two fighters. More sense. Right?" After a moment, she adds, "You, me, Joey, Max. Sometime. OK?"
As Owen disappears, "That's one, /Guest/." he's then gone.
John eyes Kaz, two orbs of ice, summing her up. He raises a finger. "Next time..." Giving up again, he drops the hand and shakes his head. "Of course. Delighted." He turns abruptly to leave. "I hope this isn't an indication of how we do things in St. Claire."
Kaz shrugs. "Big groups, yes. Small groups? We got sense." She eyes the sky, and adds, "And now, joy of joys, I gotta patrol. Catch you later, yah?"
John stops for a moment to nod curtly. "I think I work better alone." he states, his back still turned. Then he starts walking again. "Later, Kaz."
Kaz heads off in another direction entirely.
