Big Red Barn
The barn is built in the old style, a vast three level structure that is greater in height than a mere three stories, actually closer to five. Great wooden posts support the weight of the upper levels and roof, sunk into the hard-packed dirt floor of the first level like a sparse forest of regularly spaced, naked trees. The stalls and flagstones which once were here have been torn out to leave a rather open area where even crinos Garou may roam freely without fear of running into anything but the supports or the walls or the ladder at the back which allows access to the other two levels.
The first two levels are relatively open to each other, the second being only little wider than a catwalk going around all the walls but the front one, which has massive, twenty foot tall doors set into it. The third level is a true second floor except for a place cut out that allowed hay to be tossed down to the ground floor when the farm was actually worked. Now, it is a hayloft where Garou can sleep outside of the house.

Sounds of someone beating up on a helpless punching bag can be heard even just outside the barn. The hits are rapid, striking without much mercy for the sack. Yi vents her stress on the poor thing, while it swings and jerks along the chains.

From above the second story, perhaps perched on the over hang, comes the soft, beautiful voice of one which could be a definite popstarlet. The words are sweet, soft and addicting, strung out like a quiet lullabye. "When I said go -- I never meant away. You ought to know, the freaky games we play. Could you forgive, and learn how to forget? Hearing as I'm calling out your name.. FireFly come to back to me. Make the night as bright as day. I'll be looking out for you, tell me that you're lonely too. FireFly come lead me on, I'll follow you into the sun, its the way it ought to be.. Firefly come back to me." The voice carries over the hard pounding of fists against canvas flesh.

Yi smacks the bag with some inner ferocity coming out, the song from the galliard cub unnoticed until she finally slows enough to catch the last few strains of the melody. Finally she gives the punching bag a final kick that sends it swinging crazily away from her, and she steps off to the side to leave it be. With a sigh Yi sits down heavily on a haybale and looks upwards towards the loft quietly. A hand comes up to wipe off the sweat, her long sleeves rolled up along her arms.

"You amaze me, that we share this mystery. We were so close.. like honey to a bee. And if you tell me how to make me understand -- in a minor kind of major way. Firefly come back to me, make the night as bright as day. I'll be looking out for you, tell me that you're lonely too. FireFly come lead me on, I'll follow you into the sun, its the way it ought to be.. Firefly come back to me. OOohwooooaahhh.. Come n' play with my desire.. I can't wait another night, don't be long." Trilling off, the girls voice now rings powerfully through the air, holding a single note proudly, one that could possibly rival even Celine Dion's. "FireFly come lead me on, I'll follow you into the sun, thats the way it ought to be.. Firefly come back to meeeeeee..." Ending, her voice echos in the darkness by itself until all but silence consumes.

Yi wets her lips, idly wishing she had a bottle of water around but is lacking so. She simply listens to the galliard's song until she finishes, her eyes closed to better focus onto the melody and lyrics. When the song ends, she lets the silence pervade for some time. A light clapping comes after, applause for such talent. "Fighter, singer, treehugger. That's Alicia for you." She gazes up towards the hayloft, her smirk perhaps lost in the dark.

"Soon to be storyteller... and Cliath." Alicia's shakey voice replies towards her friend as she peers over the edge, rubbing at her throat. "Adam told me I should...try and make this next story in perhaps a song fashion, if its easier for me. I must sing to Andrea, the origin of our tribe and impress her. If I pass.. then she tells Adam to Rite me."

Looking up back at her, Yi smiles faintly. "Well... did he say it was against the rules to practice?" she stands up from the haybale, moving over towards the punching bag again. Instead of hitting it this time though, she touches it with her hand and leans her forehead against it. "I'd ask you to sing more, but I wouldn't want to ruin your voice for such a petty thing as entertaining a newmoon." She turns back to face the cub. "What do you have so far?"

"I don't mind entertaining you Song Yi. You are not just a new moon in my eyes, you are a friend. And I can tell that you are in need of one. I know you and Rotem were not really....close, but still, when family passes away, its always hard, regardless.." Pondering over the question, she bites her lip, offering a shrug. "Just what Adam has told me, but I want to enhance it with my own flair, and not come off sounding stupid."

Yi sighs at the mention of Rotem. For a few minutes again, there's only silence cut with some night sounds. "Every galliard tells the story differently," Yi notes quietly. "You just need to find something central... and work off of that. Perhaps, not the origin of the tribe itself, but what made the tribe different. Like... your tribe's name, or something. We all consider ourselves children of Gaia. But what reason made the other tribes recognize your tribe as The Children of Gaia, you know?" She shrugs, and scratches at a long piece of old duct tape holding the bag closed. Another few moments pass. "It doesn't make sense, Alicia. I don't know why he did it like that."

Alicia shakes her head as well, legs dangling over the edge. "It doesn't make sense.. he told me the other day that he didn't want to die, but if he was going to, he'd do it fighting, thinking that maybe if he survived the creatures in the sewers, the others will let him live." Running a hand through her hair, she props her chin in her hands. "He had a strong will to live, he didn't seem to be the suicide type tho'.... I have a bad feeling 'bout it, thats all.."

"A Gnawer survives. That's what he told Kaz. He almost begged Elan to give him a last chance." Yi taps her fingers on the bag. Then she stops tapping and sinks slowly onto the ground as she realizes something. "I gave him the gun." Her lips part in a bit of thought, a bit of shock. "There was no way he could get a gun himself. I gave him the gun that he used to shoot himself with."

"Trust me... There's tons of ways for him to get a gun Yi. If not by you, then by some dumb ass on the corner selling 'em to kids for quick cash. Hell, /I/ have guns, you know that." Alicia tries to comfort her gently. "Are you sure he shot himself tho'? You know... there's only one true way to discover the truth.."

Yi continues just pseudo-gawking for a little bit, before she blinks and snaps out of it. Even if she did give him the gun, it was his responsibility. She looks up towards Alicia. "You're saying he didn't shoot himself? How do you figure that out?"

Alicia sighs heavily. "I don't /think/ he would have done that. He would have ran away first, before resorting to shooting himself. You already told me gangs tried to invade the church..maybe one of them killed him, he didn't shift to protect the veil an was shot. Anyone can wear a pair of gloves to hide fingerprints an shit. Did you check the weapon? Get it dusted or something? I know I'm not a cliath, but I was born on the streets... I know how to kill people an not get caught."

Yi shakes her head. "I didn't see the actual body, but scented it. There weren't any fresh scents in the church except the Gnawers, and Jarred, no humans. I haven't gone back to check for the gun yet." She wrings a hand on part of her wrist. "If it was a gang.. there would've been signs of struggle. And more than one shot I'm sure. No way. And Bernie saw him. She believes it was suicide, right? Kaz and Nevada saw the body too." She shakes her head. "If it was a killer, the person would have had to be inside the church. And only Garou or kinfolk go into the church." She glances up at Alicia again.

The girl stares down at Yi again, silently. Taking a deep breath, she lets it out. "Jarred huh? You smell the gun?" She doesn't hold any accussing tones, yet.

Yi nods a little. "Jarred's scent, as well as the other Gnawers. That doesn't prove anything though. Jarred comes to the church a lot anyway, and the Gnawers practically live there." She rubs her hand on the back of her neck. "I didn't smell the gun. I only smelled blood, death, and the others."

"Smell the gun Yi.. k?" Alicia says, sighing. "I made a promise to him a few days ago..that after he dies in the sewers, I'll help find the person who murdered his father. I tend to make good on that." Heading to the ladder, she slowly makes her way down it -- hopping the last few steps. "It won't hurt to dig a bit more into it..."

Yi broods quietly now, her eyes narrowed with thought. "Maybe someone did kill him. But I've been around him lately... maybe..." Her brow furrows and she shakes her head. "No. No assumptions, until I get the facts." She nods over at Alicia. "I'll go do that, soon if no one else has already."

Alicia nods her head and heads over to the Gnawer. "Cool.. So..besides all this.. How are you doing?"

Yi tilts her head. "Me? Oh..." she trails, though it looks quite like she's still pondering over the death. "I'm fine." Her hand wrings itself again on her thinly muscled arm. "Been working, and ... 'chillin'." She smiles smally. "Getting myself back up into training. I think I'm falling behind on combat practice." Her eyes stray back to the punching bag. "Been making too many mistakes, lately."

"No body is perfect.. hell.. I should know that." Heading to the bag, Alicia pops it one. "I've gotten a lot better tho', from when I first started out." Pushing the bag away, the Child of Gaia turns her hread back to Yi, grinning. "Maybe you can teach me a few moves before I take off to my rite."

Yi glances up as the bag swings a bit from the punch. "Teach you to fight? Now why would a peace-loving talesinger like yourself want to do that for?" She smirks and rises to her feet. "No, I'm far from perfect, but it's better if I could find someone to teach -me- some more. I only got the basics from Sifu, and the rest was just improvising." She glances at the bag, maybe a little nostalgically. "Your rite just involves talking and storytelling, or are you going to fight something too?"

Alicia shrugs her shoulders. "I'll be riting as any Garou would. I'm ganna be sent off in adventure and most likely ganna fight for my life."

Yi shrugs some as well. "Guess Garou will always be Garou, no matter how much they like to hug trees." With an affectionate smile, she nudges Alicia's shoulder with her fist in a friendly manner. "What will you do when you come back from it?" She pauses, then quips, "Go to Disneyland?"

Alicia grins. "Even better... Tom's house. I'm ganna knock the socks off that kin, and then...um..do it again." Teasing, she beams brightly. "I'm ganna move in with him, it will be so fun."

Yi blinks then ducks her head in her parsing of the cub's words. The blush is hidden in the dark though, luckily. "Ah," she manages after a few swallows of some inner comments. "Doesn't he live by the university? Wonder how we are taking care of that skeleton they found..." Her mind travels back towards recent events, carefully avoiding the subject of knocking socks off kin. "You'll come visit the city, right?" She glances up, hopeful. "Have to see the apartment. Nevada has a crazy sense of decorating."

Alicia nods her head with an infectious smile. "Of course. Ah'm ganna be living in the city, and I have my brother to look after as well." Reaching out, she drags her fingers through the Gnawer's hair, giggling. "At least you shower, you need to teach Nevada how to. I think he forgot."

Yi blinks as Alicia's fingers run through her hair, tilting her head at her. "What do you mean Nevada doesn't shower?" Then she starts going through mentally what clothes she actually throws into the laundry machines every few times a week. The Gnawer must be missing some joke somewhere. "Your brother... they're leaving him up to you to deal with?"

Alicia shakes her head. "Only to a degree.. I'm not ganna be the one to spring it upon him. They can. Otherwise, I'm just going to be his sis." Smiling, she replies to the first. "An Nev is always smelling like gasoline."

"Maybe because he works at some car shop around town," Yi offers up as an explanation. Though what really might be going on, is anyone's guess. "How do you think the others are going to tell your brother? I mean, he seems like the kind of guy who needs to see to believe."

Alicia offers a shrug of her shoulders. "Ah'm sure Andrea will figure out a way. I don't know if.. I want him involved." She says truthfully. "He's happy to know that I am alive..."

Yi mms thoughtfully. "But it's good to know if he's kin or not. We could protect him better, at least. Though I don't think having a job at McDonald's is too dangerous, at the moment anyway." She shrugs with palms upturned. "But if he's going to find out, how would you explain it? 'Hi Benedict, your sister is a werewolf'?"

Alicia shrugs again. "I don't know.. its easier with Garou I guess, but with kin, it just sucks."

"Hm. Maybe... but I suppose that's the way we are. Blunt, and to the point, na?" Yi grins and gives the punching bag a short tap. "Well, I think I should get going. Have a gun to sniff out, and other errands." She tilts her head at the galliard. "You take care of yourself, and come back quick if you happen to disappear to go on your rite like Bernie did. Ok?"

Alicia nods her head and hugs her friend briefly. "I will only try my best to. Wish me luck."

Yi hugs her friend tightly, perhaps harder than she would normally. "You have luck. Just keep your spirit happy." She draws away after a short while and goes over to the door to slide it open. "And don't forget to practice, so I can ask you later to sing for me, Sweet Nightingale." She smiles, and slips out of the barn into the darkness.
