Dark Alley
A fairly typical alley way for this part of town, this narrow way knifes its way north-south between tall brick buildings. Not much wider than the dumpster that lies near the south end, it appears that a great deal of the refuse never makes it into the dumpster, or else, it's scattered to and fro by homeless persons, cats, and rats, all looking for food and other treasures.

Regan Avenue Bridge Street

Up on the rooftops, a figure cloaked in shadows and the knowledge of the city from a bird's eye view at nighttime leaps from roof to roof. Here in the downtown area it is a difficult time scouting, but it must be done. Down on the ground is Reggie, walking off another night coming from and heading to only she knows where on a dead sunday night. Reggie isn't that difficult to spot, even for Yi's perspective. On the street, standing in front of an alleyway between the pool hall and one of it's next door neighbors stands a man. He is somewhere in his upper middle ages, white with a deep sun-burned tan and long unkempt hair. If not for his recently purchased and clean clothing, one might just discount him as a homeless bum. In his hands he carries a large pile of pamphlets, and he seems to be calling out to people on the sidewalk that walk by, almost assualting them to get them to heed his 'warnings'.

Intrigued by the warnings, Reggie veers off his path to encounter the man and discover the concern of the pamphlets. He offers a "Hello. When's the world ending?" to the maniac.

From above, the Gnawer glides easily from the top of one of the buildings to one closer and with a fire escape into the alley. Yi peeks over the edge, scouting around the area's street side and such. No sense in having someone just happen to see her, right? When she sees Reggie and the man, the ragabash tilts her head and strains an ear.

The man turns to offer whoever just approached him a pamphlet, but upon viewing Reggie just goes wide-eyed and drops everything he was just holding. In the wind many of the pamphlets actually go up rather then down and it creates a small chaotic flurry of paper as the man just says in a stressed out near-panic. "I know you. I know your kind. I see what you are, while the rest of the world is blind. You! Your people took us before! But you'll not have /me/!" With this he runs from Reggie into the alleyway.

Quite startled, Reggie stares after the fleeing man before he thinks to look at one of the pamphlets left behind.

Whaa? Yi doesn't need to strain much, apparently, as she sees the man rush away from Reggie and into the alley. She's also seen her share of madmen. Some weren't truly mad, of course. With suspicion and curiosity born, the ragabash arches a brow and follows after along the rooftop of the building, peering down at where the man plans to run.

After a glance at the pamphlet, Reggie jerks up his head, harsh suspicion supplementing his curiosity. A quick glance tells him the pamphlets are already getting too scattered by the wind to gather up quickly, so he leaves them to march into the alley.

((Benedict pages: You quickly get there and are looking down at the man cowering at the end of the alleyway, staring back waiting for Reggie. Who, expectedly, follows.))

On the rooftops Yi moves like a ghost. Down below, a bit of a scene caused but the only people around are drunks heading into or out of a pool hall, no one seems to care about some bum. Steping into the alley. Reggie sees the man cowering at the end, clutching something in his hands. Getting closer you spy a familiar glint of metal from something big. A shine almost too perfect for anything other then... silver.

Yi peers down at the man once she's reached the end of her building top, glancing back in the direction of Reggie who she expects to follow up. There's no place for him to run, this man. Briefly, she looks around for another fire escape to climb down into. The other way to get down would have to involve the next building over. Loathe to leave the pair, she makes her action quickly. The jump isn't too far, even if her landing has to involve a brief roll to soften it. Getting back up she makes her way to the fire escape and looks back down.

Reggie grimly observes the glint, and hesitates a step, then, chin set, continues down the alley to confront the man.

As Reggie approaches closer the man looks up to spy his stalker like a cornered dog, his eyes are wild and his lips parted to expose the teeth behind them. "Get back!" He shouts and brandishes his weapon, a large nasty looking butcher knife made of, or plated with, what appears to be pure silver. "I have the means to destroy you! Go! Step back or I'll... I'll... I'll /fucking/, "He barely spits out the word, like a stutterer, "kill you! I did nothing to you people! But I knew you'd come soon enough. You don't study something for fourty years and /not/ recognize it when it comes for you! I know... I got too close, didn't I. Too close to the truth! Well, I know your weaknesses, and I'm not going to lose. Not to you."

Yi hears these words very well. And from her vantage point, she looks down the ends of the alley to see if anyone in particular has taken an interest to what might be overheard. This has to be something worth investigating more up close. She makes her way down the fire escape, creaking at some points. Hopefully, the sounds of the city streets and nearby thumping of the Temple should prevent suspicion.

"You've gone nuts", Reggie taunts the man, as he approaches and takes measure of that nasty-looking knife, "Can't tell apart your fantasies from reality anymore."

Yi is correct, no one is heading down the alley. Or caring enough to even look inside. Sometime apathy is a blessing in disguise. "Ha ha ha." The man mock-calls towards Reggie. "Don't think you can fool me so easily. Werewolves. I can /smell/ it on you. Now go, I have Silver!" He thrusts the knife shakily in Reggie's direction, looking almost like a fish out of water with all its shaking around."

((Benedict pages: And you're getting down quickly enough.))

Deciding the knife is of more danger than the man itself, Reggie makes a sudden grab for the man's wielding arm with ungentle strength.

Yi drops down the final few feet from the fire escape. With another look over the general area, she slips through the shadows towards Reggie and the man at the end of the alley. Her own knife slips out of her pocket, flipped open and waiting in concealment as she. Eyes flicker from Reggie to the not-so-crazy man. There's something very...interesting.

The man makes a short yelp of pain as he is roughly grabed and drops the blade. However in the move for the grab at the silver knife, it slid along the soft part between reggies thumb and pointer finger and slices it cleanly open, so deep it cuts through almost to the other side. "Oh god!" He cries out and with his other hand he tosses something up at Reggie that poofs into a large cloud. Yes, thats silver dust. For Reggie in his current form... isn't a problem aside from the irritation of the nose and the blinding effect of the fine powder like dust that gets in the Uktena's eyes and burns painfully. "God save me..." the man whimpers.

Pained, and eyes blinking redly, Reggie snarls violently, and twists the man's arm with sufficient force to break it, as he throws him up against the brick wall of the attic. "That--was a mistake", he says blindly, "Nothing will save you."

A painful and sickly sounding crack of bone and a tortured scream follow Reggie's manuver. The man is now on the ground, clutching a horribly mangled arm and crying openly. "Oh god... I knew it. The monsters are real! And the world will be destroyed!" He seems to almost forget the pain in his mania, perhaps shock from where he fell on the ground he looks up to Reggie then somehow spys Yi. "Oh god... Theres more of you. Our city is overrun with evil! EEEEEVIL!!!!"

"Don't kill him," Yi finally forces out of herself, seeing as how she's spotted. She moves, coming into view a safe distance from the shimmering powder. Her voice is somewhat muffled by the black bandanna she holds to her face with her left hand. Moving a little closer, there is some kind of inevitability in her eyes as she looks from Reggie to the raving man. "Who is he?" she asks of the Uktena.

His face twisted with a snarl, tears streaming down from blinking eyes, Reggie turns in Yi's direction. "Who is he? Who the fuck are you?"

The man just stares now, some kind of shock setting in to place and an almost too clear expression on his face as he takes shallow and quick breaths. "Yes. The good and the evil ones. Save me. Please! Kill him! He is our enemy!" He calls out to Yi.

Yi forces herself to hold her ground where she is, but she doesn't take off the bandanna. "It's me, Reggie. One of Salmon's daughters," she replies to him. Hopefully he understands her roundabout identification. Moreover is her inner confusion at what to do about this man. Good and evil ones? Good and evil... wait. "Let him go, Rags. He can't run anywhere, not like that."

Still madly blinking to clear his vision, Reggie disgustedly removes his hands off the man, clenching them into fists as he looms over the man. "He's blinded me", he states,"He's not going anywhere."

The man falls again, as he is released and hits the ground bending his arm in a sickly angle again elicting another pained cry from him.

Yi thinks for a moment, then leaves her knife in her pocket while she ties the bandanna around her face. Right, she's just your everyday masked superheroine, you know? The young asian slips forward a little more, though unfortunately the alleyway prevents her from giving Reggie a wide enough berth. "Listen," she says in a quietly accented tone, "I won't hurt you. But I need to know, what were you doing over there back beside the building? What were you passing out?" The girl tries her best to remain calm in voice.

(( Long distance to Benedict: Yi will try to slip in a Persuasion in there, to convince the man that she isn't trying to hurt him or anything. Can't say the same for Reggie, though. :)
Benedict pages: Ok. As the man already things you are here to save him for some delusional reason, it isn't difficult. ))

The man just mutters loudly, "The truth..."

Yi chances at glance at Reggie. "The truth about what?"

"Papers", Reggie spits, "Papers about nonsense. Wizards, ghosts. Vampires, werewolves. Unseen things. I had one of these. Must have dropped it". Blinking at a slightly more normal rate, he squints at the ground for blurs that might be the pamphlet in question.

After picking up a few other papers that vaguely resemble the pamphlet through blurred vision, Reggie gets his hand on it and picks the pamphlet up.

Reggie shoves it roughly in the direction of Yi.

Yi tilts her head a bit, hardly looking like any train-robbing bandit out of the westerns. The pamphlet is taken and looked over, though it takes awhile to really read much of the content at all. "Do you have a name?" she asks the man, while trying to decipher the text.

Yi can see the title of it clearly, "That which is unseen, sees you." Inside such words as 'werewolves' 'vampires' 'ghosts' and 'wizards' among other supernatural descriptions grab her eye's attention. The man looks up, from his suffering again and stares almost incredulously between Yi and Reggie, for all the world wondering how the forces of light and dark can stand so close to each other and not attack. "Damion. Damion Booth."

Yi nods slowly, though much of the words she can't make out in the darkness. The pamphlet is slipped into her back pocket, secured. "Damion. I haven't seen you around here before. Where are you from?" There's still the calming, quiet tone to her voice that she uses, pronouncing her syllables clearly. She spares another glance at Reggie. Maybe his vision cleared up now?

Reggie is anything but calming as he clamps fingers, pinching the wound shut, on his injured hand. With somewhat improved vision, he looks furiously at Damion, then redirects violent energy towards finding and picking up the knife while Yi questions him.

Reggie finds the knife at his feet quickly and procures it. Meanwhile the man starts shivering from the cold and his breathing is slowing down. "Alabama. Born and raised. Away from the evil cities. And away from his," he indicates Reggie, "kind. After the wolves and vampires came with their wizards and starts using their mind control on my family and the workers on our farm, I escaped to the city to tell of their evils. You can't control me... no, can't have me. I'll be free, yes the good lord looks out for me. I'll be safe."

Yi furrows her brow, unsure of what to say in reply to the man's story. It's more or less what she had planned to interrogate from this Damion man. But, where is Alabama? She never did pay much attention to US Geography. "Not all of them are evil. Some protect others from the greater evil," she says testily. Then, with a brief indication of Rags, she adds, "He is one of the good ones. But you hurt him, so that's why he got mad." She neglects to add, 'And still is mad.' Yet the Gnawer continues quietly, "You can't go around the city handing these papers out though. It's dangerous for you and others."

Reggie paces back to Yi's side with impatient motions, knife secured in hand. "Why waste time on him?", he grumbles to Yi. "He's hopeless."

Benedict snorts at Yi but as Reggie paces to Yi's side and she vouches for him his expression clouds over with fear once more. "Oh god... you two are together." He starts pushing himself up to his feet, in much pain. "You'll not kill me laying down," he grunts, "and others will discover you. Mankind will hunt you down, like you once hunted us. We'll save ourselves and the world! By ridding you and your disease from it."

Yi shoots a brief glare at Reggie, but quickly staunches it so she could keep her composure. A mental sigh comes to mind, thinking of the trash pickup duty she will have tonight. When the man finally comes back up to his feet and launches those words at her, she drops her eyes. "The Veil Shall Not Be Lifted," she notes softly to herself. Then, when she looks up at Damion, there is apology in her eyes. "I'm sorry," she says to him, before dropping back to let Reggie to the fore. "Please make it as quick as possible."

The man reaches out his hand towards Reggie. "No. I'll not have your poison in me. I'll do it myself. The knife. Give me my knife."

Grimly grinning, Reggie steps to the fore after Yi is finished her questioning. "Your knife?", he questions. "Here!", and he jams the knife through the man's throat with a strong swipe.

The man reaches up for the knife, expecting for it to be handed to him then his eyes go wide with suprise for the brief moment before he is dead. His head nearly severed from his neck with a clean wound from the nearly razor sharp blade, he starts creating quite the pool of blood where he falls.

Yi simply looks on, eyes hardening as Reggie does the slicing. As Damion begins to stain the ground of the alleyway, she closes her eyes. "You idiot. You should have let him kill himself," she says to the ahroun. "Now it will look like a murder, instead of a suicide."

"I don't give enemies back the same weapons they used on me", Reggie growls in response. "Not to mention", he goes on to mention, "Sure doesn't look like he broke his own arm."

"That is just a detail for the police to figure out," Yi replies. "Better clean him up." The Gnawer starts to walk away, back towards the fire escape she came from. The bandanna around her face is removed once she's back in the shadows.

((Benedict pages to the room: The rest is all you. No cops will be coming around to investigate this, due to the location and the noise of the club next door covering up everything suitably. Now, if there is still a body or something obvious in the morning... the cops would be called. Otherwise, no one will know a murder took place here.
Reggie pages to the room: Reggie has the fun of a large, bloody knife and considerable blood from his own hand to boot, not to mention a body. Reggie will phone his brother to go bring over the truck to do some garbage disposal. ))
