Sepdet is, predictably, seated crosslegged near the newly-installed stone like a mother hen, arms wrapped around her knees.
"I'm sorry!" Yi's voiced apology hisses out, with a bit of insolence. "The accent was just cover. You know, like they do on the TV shows. He was too drunk to know anyway." The Gnawer and the Coggie galliard walk side by side towards the center of the caern again, animated in conversation about recent events. "I won't do it again, if you come up with something better to use."
"My /god/ Yi. You sounded like those annoying Asian sluts you see in five dollar porn videos. I'm starting to have doubts about your path, you did that a bit /too/ good." Alicia says as she walks side by side with the Gnawer, smirking over towards her.
((From afar, to the Caern, Sepdet settles for a compromise and delclares it's this morning... fairly early in the morning. Everyone's just getting back from Revel and/or rest.))
Yi just sort of pauses in her step, glowering at Alicia. That full moon is still up, you know. "I am -not- a whore," she hisses out again, crossing her arms over her chest. "It's just a role. The easiest I could think of at the moment. Besides, you were lying about him sleeping with two made up girls."
Sepdet looks up at the sound of voices and returning revellers. ~Everyone intact?~ she calls, eyes coming back into focus. Yi and Alicia receive a faintly stymied glance, as the Strider overhears the tail end of their conversation.
By the waterfall, Speaks-Circles pads down the trail, directly to the pool at the foot of the waterfall and dives in.
Laughing, Alicia shrugs her shoulders. "Better then fooling him he slept with me." Peering over towards Sepdet as she rumbles towards them, she dips her head in a nod. "Yah, we ran across something funky. Remember that devil horse that was walking aimlessly? This time we found a human, in his undies."
"Drinking Starbucks. Alicia almost killed him with that kick to the head," Yi adds on, still shooting the galliard a look.
Walking very stiffly, Laura meanders towards the caern center. Every so often, her breath hitches, and she pauses. The gathered garou still garner a smile as she makes her way towards them. "Morning," she murmurs a little breathlessly.
Sepdet mutters something under her breath that sounds suspiciously like the Egyptian equivalent of "Bloody hell." Laura's condition, however, gets a visual inspection before the Strider presses that line of inquiry further. She gives the Fury a wry smile. ~It appears to have been a fruitful night.~
By the waterfall, Wildfire steps through from the Umbra at the pool's edge. He straightens up once through, and looks the place over. He's good a bloody, merrily so.
By the waterfall, Speaks-Circles climbs out of the pool awkwardly, stepping out of the way of the others to shake himself off. He then pads toward the center of the caern.
"Rootful," Laura mutters, a smile touching her lips. She pauses a moment, then shakes her head. "Horrid pun. Sorry. Did I hear something about another wanderer at the Bawn?"
Alicia nods her head to the Fury. "Yah, some half naked guy from one of the Colleges. He upp'd an walked his way from the university, to the bawn." She shakes her head. "He was in a dazed state, like those animals. Luke tried to pull something outta Chimera to figure shit out, but he kinda snapped out of it by then. We think that whole bane piggy backing idea was going on."
"Sleepwalker," Yi points out. "He didn't wake up even when Alicia tripped him. Not immediately, but I guess that is common?" The Gnawer sticks her hands in her jacket pockets. "And we took him back to the university before he woke up. Joseph Peabody, Manton House. No connection with the farm that I scouted out about the farm animals."
Sepdet simply sucks in the news like a sponge, expression pensive. Owen also gets a raised eyebrow. ~It's dead,~ she says, the question turning into a statement as she aims it in the direction of a Get.
"Hm," Laura comments. "They must be prodding our defenses or something of the sort. We, uh, found another trap pit, with the tentacular equivalent to an umbral trapdoor spider," she says, brushing her ribs with her fingertips. The accompanying wince shows the injury isn't quite healed yet.
By the waterfall, Wildfire gives the Strider a simple nod at her last statement before turning his attention to the pool to wash sap - SAP of all things! - from his axe.
~Another?~ the Strider growls indignantly, sending a silent mental curse in the direction of the caern's recent bad tenants.
Speaks-Circles drips over to the group, listening and looking up from face to face. The revel went well? There are strangers asleep on the bawn?
Yi shakes her head with a discontented grunt. "You know life is crazy when tentacle spider bane traps in a spirit world do not surprise you, but a guy wandering around in the middle of the night in his boxers holding a mocha-latte does." She shrugs. "The least he could have done was grow tentacles and say things like 'The Wyrm is God'. But he did not, and so far as we know, he remembered nothing. The Veil is safe, for now."
Sepdet takes a deep breath; even with sun-up, the Strider Adren isn't entirely immune to the Moon. ~From the parties reporting in, it appears to be a successful revel,~ she says, with a nod towards Owen and Laura. ~As for this...tresspass... we have got to figure out who or what is sending these sleepers into the Bawn. Chimera's illusions and the wards that make intruders go astray and away from the caern do little good, if there is no waking mind or eye to work upon.`
Laura nods. "Someone's going to check up on that, I hope? One of the Kin? We don't need him suddenly remembering faces, and maybe a follow up check might yield new information." She glances at their surroundings.
"We got 'em dead drunk too." Alicia comments as she rolls her shoulders. "And I gave him a good swat to the head. He'll probably think it was all a dream."
Speaks-Circles's tongue lolls. Will his head bruise? That would not be a dream.
Yi nods at what is said. "Luke stepped over, but he did not have time to really explain what he saw." To Speaks-Circles, the Gnawer shrugs. "He could have just fallen when he was drinking too much." The asian slips Alicia a small, knowing smile.
By the waterfall, Wildfire finishes cleaning his axe and puts it away. He then stalks over towards the center.
Alicia nods her head. "OH yah. I'm sure he woulda figured he got so drunk, he wandered out naked and fell in the street or something. Its believeable."
Laura nods, then edges a little bit nearer to Sepdet. "Rhya, if you have a moment. I have more information regarding the issue we spoke of earlier?" she says in low tones.
Sepdet grimaces. ~I do not know humans very well, so I must trust you all to be careful with the veil.~ She pauses as Laura addresses her, expression quieting. ~Will you all excuse us for a moment?~ she murmurs, rising to her feet and moving towards the waterfall and its white noise.
Yi looks over Wildfire afterwards, arching an eyebrow over his bloody form. "Fruitful," she echoes quietly. Turning then to Alicia, the Gnawer notes, "What was the name of that new Get cub again? The girl dressed in uniform?"
Wildfire crosses his arms over his chest. ~Ashley. Why do you ask?~
Alicia heads over to Yi and crosses her arms over her chest, head tilting to one side.
Shrugging, Yi offers little reason. "Only that seeing you reminded me of her. She has ... potential?" Hopefully, the Get doesn't take her comment the wrong way. Hopefully.
Speaks-Circles snuffs. His fur is dark with water, and slick. Seemed nervous.
Wildfire's near-permanent frown deepens. ~Alright. Out with it.~
Yi waves it off. "It is no big deal. She is in good hands, is all." Purposefully, she avoids looking at Owen's eyes directly.
"What Yi is trying to say, is that she has potential of being a good Garou, despite her turn off for blood." Alicia says wryly as she pokes her Asian friend in the shoulder.
Wildfire nods at both explanations. ~She's got a spine at least, yes.~
Speaks-Circles bobs his head in agreement. Brave to stand before the sept, but perhaps too eager for introduction. It was well done; Fianna might have done differently.
Yi nods, as Alicia saves her from a potentially awkward excuse. The Gnawer coughs, and then rubs at the arm which she had cut for the oath ceremony. Her eyes find their way over to Speaks-Circles too, having not seen the Fianna philodox in awhile. "And where have you been, Blue-Face? The last time I saw you, you were painted and swinging baseball bats around."
"Yah, an where has -Bernie- been too?" Alicia says with a smirk on her face. Oh, if that Get wasn't there, she'd have /so/ many things to say, tease, poke, ect.
Wildfire grunts. ~She's not even firsted yet. Give her time.~ He lets that subject fall off and die.
By the waterfall, Sepdet turns back towards the others, after resting her hand briefly but firmly on the Fury's uninjured shoulder. ~Let me know if I can be of assistance in your travels,~ she adds, nodding towards the center of the caern.
Speaks-Circles nods to Wildfire, agreeing. looking between Alicia and Yi, he twitches his ears, grinning. ~Ca-li-fornia.~ he manages. Visiting her dam.
Yi agrees with Alicia's question. "And Julie returned as well. I am glad she is back. After Kaz and Elan are both away, and... Renee having eldership." The ragabash trails, when Sepdet returns again. She nods to the Strider once. Dark eyes flicker once towards Wildfire's last comment, but she says nothing.
Wildfire looks over his shoulder at the Strider as she returns, saying only one thing to her. ~Trolls.~
Sepdet says back, ~Rocks.~
Yi glances between the Get and Strider. "And unclean socks," she pipes in with a cough. Too much Dr. Seuss.
Speaks-Circles tilts his head. And you say I am confusing. Stepping away briefly, he shakes again, then shifts up to a familiar homid form.
Wildfire doesn't look too happy at the response, and Yi's add-in only serves to grate his nerves further. He manages to stay silent for the moment.
"No I will not eat a box, nor will I eat a clock. I will not eat them in a barn, I will not eat them with a ball of yarn." Alicia murmurs right behind Yi, rolling her shoulders, bemused.
Sepdet shakes her head. ~No, I don't think that would help. Seriously,~ she explains to the Get, ~I think what you need is an Earth Elemental, like that thing we fought at Lake Arthur. Only not tainted and corrupted. I tracked down a story of someone who grew skin hard as stone after doing an Earth-spirit a favor.~
Yi adds in another query, "I do have a couple of more... boring" questions, if you gathered would care to answer them." She does look to the higher ranked. "But, I guess if you are busy..." She fades, getting a 'bad vibes' feeling from Owen.
Wildfire seems to lighten up a little at Sepdet's explanation, though there's still a frown. ~Oh really? Interesting.~ He then looks to Yi. ~Questions about what?~
"One," Yi begins though she reminds herself of the company, "is that while I was calling the Fool's role, I was very, ah, concerned about the kinfolk." Her eyes stray to Sepdet for a moment, and then wave back off. "But I am wondering since you are here, Owen-rhya, and others, if there were wolf kinfolk replaced in the woods at the forest. Now that the caern is fully working, again." She swallows. "But that is a concern of mine. Kinfolk. And after that... what you think of Renee claiming tribe eldership. As I understand it, it is important to keep up communications with other tribes, as part of the responsibility of the elder."
Sepdet gives Yi a very wry glance. ~Eldership is something upon which a Strider cannot comment, save when she sees one claim an eldership so unsuitable that they might be a threat to the sept as a whole.~
Alicia rolls her shoulders in a faint shrug as she listens, nosing a rock away from her foot. "Renee as Elder, this will be interesting. I was hoping it'd be you, Yi."
Matt shuffles his feet a bit, seeming to have little to add to this conversation.
Wildfire shrugs. ~Another tribe's social ladder is no concern of mine. And as for the wolves, it is best for you to talk to Shadow-of-Blood about it. I am sure he will be more than happy to explain the status of out wolf kin to a homid Gnawer. Tickle him pink, really.~
Yi looks at Alicia with a blink. "No. I am not one for eldership," Yi shakes her head. "Though I can remember that Renee was a cub not very long ago, it does feel appropriate she take control, for now. I had hoped Anneka might have showed up, but given time I guess there will be some changes." To Wildfire, the Gnawer ragabash does give a wry smirk. "If he remembers me from my attending the Gathering of one of his tribe mates, that will be a great achievement." Maybe she's missing the joke.
Alicia snorts slightly at her friend. "The -only- thing keeping you from Eldership Yi, is your frigg'n self confidence. You have what it takes, you just won't step up to it."
Sepdet looks at her ex-packmate keenly, but says nothing.
Matt says "Sepdet-rhya. I wanted to brace ye about th' Deep Blue a wee, if you've the bird for my rabbiting." He glances to Owen and Yi, for the indulgence of their time."
Yi eyes Alicia, about to respond to her remark with her own retort to the self-confidence issue, but then looks at Matt. She never did figure out how he talked in English, but hardly ever made sense.
The Fianna's gift of language well and truly distracts Sepdet from her train of thought as well. ~I know each word,~ she says patiently to matt, ~but not what you are doing with them.~
Wildfire rolls his eyes. ~Sepdet, I will grab your ear another time.~ He turns and starts heading out, shifting down to lupus as he does.
Alicia laughs softly and pokes Matt. "Whatcha need is full use of Ebonics."
Matt sighs. He grumbles in the Mother Tongue ~I had questions about travelling in the Deep Umbra. I did not wish to interrupt your words with Wildfire-rhya.~
Yi looks after Wildfire's departure, and then back to Matt as he translates. Whew. Alicia's mention of Ebonics even gets a slightly fearful look, but again, attentions do sort of slide away from subjects about Yi and Gnawer elderships to the Fianna and Deep Umbra.
Sepdet looks after the Get's huffy departure wryly. ~I think both could be managed, were the moon not quite so full. If people ask me questions, I will answer.~
Matt nods. "Plannin' ta go waay out. Sorta wonderin' if ye can recommend ways ta get back, or keep my bearin's. Sorta ball o'twine, or compass or somefin'. Last time I went near where I need ta go, Stag was leadin', an' Oi didn't 'ave time ta ask directions."
Yi thinks on this, chewing over stories she might remember but comes up somewhat empty. "Anchoring something to the caern here, while travelling to the Deep Umbra, you mean?"
Sepdet shakes her head at Matt. ~That is unfortunately an art I am still learning, and is why I haven't gone lately. Remember how I used to vanish for weeks or months? It is a chance thing. Find a Gaian spirit and ask them to lead you back in exchange for a favor. Create a talen out of the earth of the place you are leaving, and hope it will be powerful enough to draw you back. But sometimes you simply travel until you come out in a place you know .There is a gift for it, one my uncle has mastered, which I have meant to learn, but it's a skill only the most experienced umbral-walkers have. The rest of us have to make do with wits and luck.~
Matt sighs. "'Fraid you'd say that. In that case, Oi'd like ta ask ye fer an introduction to yer mate, Salmon, if ye doan't mind. Oi'm goin' lookin' fer a relative, so per'aps th' symmetry between 'em'll help." He scratches the back of his head.
Yi eyes Matt a bit, and then asks him, "Why are you deciding to go into the Deep Umbra now?" At mention of Salmon, Yi flickers a glance to Sepdet, trying to hold her composure still.
Sepdet shoots a glance towards Yi, the two of them moving almost as one. ~That would be up to Little Bear now,~ she says quietly. ~As far as I know, Silverscale remains in Rainbow Lake. But the area has reverted to Wendigo protection, and I cannot go there now.~
Moving through the fog, a slightly darker gray shape makes it's way down into the canyon that is the Caern. The wolf walks silently across the still scorched earth, and brings with him the scent of pine, sweat, and blood. ~Little Bear is in no place to make decisions.~
Sepdet looks up sharply at the voice. ~Cougar?~ she asks, voice suddenly taut with repressed emotion.
Yi tenses as Sepdet tenses. It's residual, the pack thing. She looks in the direction of the newcomer as well, an eye narrowing.
Matt slides an aluminum ball bat out of the sleeve of his jacket as he turns toward the newcomer as well. "Cor. So if not Lit'l Bear, 'oo then?"
Rain-Cougar's demeanor is tense, but his Rage is very much in check. He chuffs a greeting to the assembled as he gets closer, eventually coming to stop a few feet away from the three. He sits back on his haunches, and looks around with dark eyes. ~Little Bear no longer walks in a sacred manner.~
Sepdet's expression grows concerned. ~If the falling-out between me and him has spread to his tribe, then I am indeed Oathbreaker as he accuses me. Rain-Cougar, I swore I would do what I could for your people. This is no good at all.~
Yi checks her own self from biting her inside lip. Clearing her throat, the Gnawer unleashes a slow exhale from between her taut lips. "Sarah told me," she says simply.
Sepdet gives Matt an apologetic grimace, but Sarah's name pulls a flicker from the Strider's eyes. Her old packmates may note the conspicuous absence of the small wooden salmon she has always worn among her necklace-charms, even before the pack was formed.
Matt returns the little bat to a loop inside his jacket. "Right. Well, bollocks. Oi doan't suppose you could 'elp me get in touch wif th' Wendigo Oi should speak wif? My quest is worthy."
Rain-Cougar cocks his head with a curious look towards Matt, before returning to look towards Sepdet. Rage burns in his eyes. ~What you swore to Great Wendigo is not my concern, unless He chooses it. I will not stand by and let my tribesmate assault kin, threaten Elders, and gives his soul to anger.~
Sepdet says to Matt, her voice still a little strained, ~It sounds as if the Wendigo are still working out who is tribe Elder.~ She takes another breath. ~Or have you settled it with Little Bear now?~ she asks the bristling ahroun carefully, all too keenly aware of the moon.
"Little Bear warned me that he would change, but I did not think it would be taking turns for worse," Yi says with a quick double-take at Sepdet's neck. Her own hand slips out of its pocket and up to the small carved bear pendant looped and worn around her throat. The Gnawer casts a short look between Matt and Tyler too. "At a time like this... the last thing we need is an angry spirit. Or two."
Rain-Cougar shakes his tail once and drops his head, a negative answer. ~I will not have an Elder who needs to be reminded of the Litany by his beta. If he keeps up his bitter ranting and raving, I will show him what Rage is.~ The Wendigo has kept a slightly submissive posture towards Sepdet throughout, even as the fur along his back bristles.
Matt raises his eyebrows. "Wasn't plannin' on on gettin' any spirits bent, honest. Oi joost know walkin' ta Arcadia from 'ere....Oi'll want a beacon back 'ome. Might be in the Legendary Realm. Oi'll know when Oi get there, won't Oi."
Sepdet nods slightly at Matt's words. She, however, is silent, weighing her own with great care. Finally she breaks her usual code and says firmly, ~It would be best were Touch Deer to claim the eldership, if he returns soon. Your rage and Little Bear's may leave one of you dead, Rain-Cougar. What he is doing is no help to his tribe. But it is no good either if he is humiliated, driven off, or killed. I don't know what means your tribe has for settling quarrels. Find one that leaves all three of you trusting one another. Then /find other Wendigo/. You will never lead here until you are strong tribe here yourselves. And strength does not mean the ability to drive other Gaia-serving Garou away.~
Rain-Cougar drops his head slightly again, and replies, ~This will not be in front of the other tribes.~ He pauses, and then adds, the angry fire in his eyes burning away, ~He needs to know that he is no longer walking a right path. He scorns his pack, and treats our kinfolk like sheep. I will not kill Little Bear, or my arguement is nothing. But I will not let his anger guide him any longer... too many bad decisions.~
Yi adds in a slight, Rage-spurred jab, "And tell him he needs to get off his mountain." After that, the Gnawer hitches up her shoulders, tucking her body into the warmth of her jacket some more before deciding to shift to a furred form. The reddish wolf looks up to Matt, and whuffs a good luck more warm than her previous comment, and then trots off into the darkness.
