Forgotten Church(#1801RAJLM)

The old church is dark, dimly lit by outside light coming in through scum-encrusted windows during the day, and tomblike during the night. There is a coatroom in the back of the nave, with separate doors leading off to mens' and womens' restrooms, and two staircases, one going up to the balcony and bell-tower, and the other leading down to the basement. The double doors leading out to the street are at the back of the coatroom.
The hard wooden pews in the sanctuary are, for the most part, still intact. There are even Bibles and hymnals left in the shelves along the back of each row, although many of them look rather chewed on. The altar on a dais at the front of the church is empty, and the lectern that once stood next to it has been knocked over. Rotting red cloth hangs at the very front of the church; there might once have been a design on it, but it has long since faded or been eaten away.
Obvious exits:
Street Basement

The church's grimy windows provide just enough light and shadow to create the mysterious ambience necessary for any regular old horror movie... the kind where you just know there's a monster lurking in the shadows, or in the basement. Or, in this case, that monster is dangling her legs over the rafters, and in the form of a Chinese girl. Each swing of her leg rubs off just a bit more dust into the grey-smelling air.

Renee slips into the church and sneeze, as some of that displaces dust makes it onto her nose. The dogs are glad to see her and gleefully mob the new arrival, looking for handouts.

Yi peeks down, waving. "Renee, hey," she greets the galliard, making her way over the rafters and down onto the balcony. A few of the dogs scurry halfway up the stairs until the ragabash shakes her head. A couple of whines are followed by an arched brow on the Gnawer's part. "(Well, you all ate them as soon as I stepped in the door. What was I supposed to do? Make more out of thin air?)" The quick Cantonese words flutter about with the dust, as Yi makes her way over to greet Renee properly.

Renee snickers. "Buncha mootchers. How ya doin', sis?"

Yi replies, "Not too badly. The rent was a little harder to get this month, since schools here must let their students go in the summer time." She shrugs, and glances at a slit in her jacket sleeve not unlike a leftover from a knife stab. She's a-ok though. "It keeps the dogs' happy and not so hungry, though."

Renee grunts softly and settles down onto one of the benches. "Been keepin' busy, myself. Always shit ta take care of."

Yi flops down nearby, scratching the itch on a dog's left ear. "I heard Kaz-rhya was sighted, but I have yet to confirm that with my own eyes," she grins. Good news, at least, in this time when the sept has some issues.

Renee nods. "Kaz is lookin' after some cubs ta the south. Only here fer a visit, but she gonna try doin' some runnin' back and forth."

Yi pushes off the first dog, her hand occupied with scratching the next one to shove its head under her palm. "That's great to hear, but it leaves us with only half a second rank, doesn't it?" She glances to the galliard thoughtfully.

Renee's eyebrows lift. "Whatcha lookin' at me like that for?"

Yi shakes her head, partly with eyes averting. "I was just wondering whether you had ideas for who to challenge for Fostern. With Bitter-Cup-rhya's pack leaving, that leaves Eamon-rhya with the only fostern rank among the ragabash. I don't know about the galliards."

Renee hehs. "Already got that covered."

Yi tips a finger. "So, you have been busy." She smiles a bit. "I guess I need to question my own life then, and see where it takes me. Anything else of interest going on? How about the other auspices?"

Renee shakes her head. "Naw. Not really. We took out that warehouse, but I'm still workin' on findin' the Leech. I suspect yer pack Alpha is goin' ta be bitched at by Luke, pretty soon."

Yi blinks, confused on that. "Why would Salem be bitched at by Luke?" she asks. Genuine lack of information, on her part.

Renee hehs. "Well, you know that chich he is livin' with? Girl is Fianna Kin. He found out by doin' some checkin' into her background an' clued her in at one point. See, fer all of Salem's good points, he doesn't tell ya half of what he should. He never told the Fianna, 'bout findin' one of their Kin. Jus' told Luke 'bout her. He ain't too happy, judgin' by the faces he was makin'."

Yi hunhs softly. "Well, what Salem does with Fianna kin is not my business. How about our own Kin, though?"

Renee wrinkles her nose. "Not much is happenin' with them. Aubrey is still hangin' with Luke. Ya know the mutts in here, named Sharpclaw, a curly haired female? Raul has her with pups."

There are so many dogs indeed. But, a pregnant one Yi would notice. She nods, putting description with a slightly hazy mental picture. "I think I do. More for the tribe, the better," she notes. "How about yours?"

Renee smiles, a little lopsidedly. "Crawlin', makin' one hell of a mess, an' teethin' ta boot."

"She's big now, I'd guess," Yi estimates out of that lopsided smile from the galliard. "And I suppose you don't have to worry so much about her yet. I wish Jay and Nevada were around. They would both have been great cubsitters."

"Kaz is willin' ta take her," Renee rumbles. "When she doesn't need me ta feed her anymore."

Yi's line of dogs waiting for a scratch dwindles some more, as she pauses momentarily to scratch herself on the neck scars. "How long is that going to be?"

Renee shrugs. "Can't tell fer certain. Ain't excatly a handbook on the normal development of Mules. When she has her teeth an' is eatin' solids with no problem."

Yi leans back against the pew, thinking to herself at first. "And she has her teeth already. Guess that won't be far away, then." She glances up again. "After that, are you... going to consider... having children with the other kin?" Pups, rather. The ragabash peers at the various canine bodies lazing about the church floor.

Renee smirks faintly. "Teethin'. Didn't say she had'em yet. Tryin' ta chew holes in the walls with her gums, so I figure thats whats buggin' her. As fer havin' other kids..." She looks over other the gathering of mutts. "Yea. Its somethin' that I figure I'll be doin'."

Nodding again, slower this time, Yi pats the last dog on the line and allows it to jump up and rest its head on her thigh. "How about other things? Is your pack coming together?" You paged the room with 'Be right back.. gotta put the dumplings in the pot.'.

Renee nods. "Yea. Lyra seems ta have come ta grips with the idea that Raul will probably take off in a few years an' I've asked Julie ta join. Goin' ta try an' make everythin' offical, next weekend."

Yi smiles faintly - after all, she keeps a soft spot in her heart for Lyra. "I'll be glad to see the Rat pack on the streets. Or, have you a name picked out already?"

Renee shakes her head. "Nope. Not somethin' I'm terribly conserned about." The Gnawer tilts her head to one side. "Do have one question for ya. How are ya dealin' with the fact, that Salem went an' extended his protection to a Leech?"

Ah, the touchy subject. One that makes Yi's moment of scratching turn to a dig of her nail into her neck, which results in a bit of a wince and growl. "I'm not happy with it," she answers carefully, eyeing the galliard. "If it were up to me, the sucker would be dead as soon as I figured out how." She pauses there, thinking over the reasons why she lets Salem get away with it, though. "If that leech leads to a bigger catch though..."

Renee snorts. "Personally, I was all for beatin' info out of it an' then takin' it apart."

Yi shrugs, though obviously she still is torn on the issue. "Has it given any news or information since?"

Renee rolls her eyes. "I have no idea. K.C. gets her panties in a knot, over the very idea of me goin' near the thing. You'd almost think it was a kid of hers, woman is so damn protective."

Yi growls audibly, though it's through a human throat. The wane of the full moon still rides her shoulders, especially on the subject of leeches. Dogs scatter. "I never liked them, even before... That. Grandmother also did similar, saying the Red Sands were not to be bothered unless they came at us first - well sometimes it led to us being caught off guard."

Renee snorts and shakes her head. "One way or another, its not making too many people happy."

Yi curls her knuckles, staring at the white. "I won't be caught again," she utters quietly. Then, she takes in a deep breath and lets it go. "We'll still be watching him. Maybe someone can get spirits to watch what he does."

Renee stands and dusts her rear off. "Anyway, I'm goin' back home."

Yi nods, standing up as well out of habit. "Good night Renee. Be well."
