Odeon - Lobby(#4049RJ)
The Odeon's lobby is testament to a faded and perverted glory. The deep crimson carpet is thick in places but in others stubbly as velveteen, and the rich pattern of tangling flowers is everywhere marred by dark stains. The walls are clothed in kingly purple tatters of wallpaper, and covered with faded posters featuring women and men in various states of undress, posing with various degrees of tastelessness, and screaming out titles like "Male Service", "Bang Bang: a Sexual Explosion", and "A Slip of Her Tongue" in garish lettering. There's no light in the room but what comes in from the street, and during the day the actresses look grey and ghoulish, and the bright reds and purples of the room faded and dusky; and at night, the place might as well be covered in thick black paint.
Immediately in front of the entrance is dull matte turnstyle which no longer turns, where once tickets were taken. To the right are a pair of doors which some joker has labelled "Pimps" and "Hos" with red spraypaint: these are the washrooms. To the left are a pair of doorways which lack actual doors, and opposite is a grand set of boarded doors which lead into the theatre proper.

What business brings Yi into the Odeon today is unknown, but the scent of freshly cooked chow mein winds its way around the theatre proper. The ragabash, herself seated upon the carpet in the abandoned lobby, busily distributes some of her food to rodents of various colors and size as they scurry to and fro from the shadows to the no-moon and back.

Joey walks in with a shiver and a shake of her hair. Droplets of water bounce off her dark curls as she runs her hands over her face. "Hey something smells good." Her eyes fall on Yi and she smiles sincerely as she walks over, "Hey partner in badassness. What's up?"

Yi cranes her head about, looking over her shoulder and smiles lopsidedly. "Chow mein," she replies, holding up a styrofoam takeout box which seems to have been nibbled by curious animalia. The smile quickly replaces with a blink of confusion. "Badassness? What do you mean?"

Joey grins, "From the other night, when we were all like pow!" A fist slams out, follow by a jab, "Wham. Crash!" Her shadowboxing ends with a chuckle and she squats down near the other. "Bad ass, as in, ya know, so cool that we're bad, oh yeah."

Yi oohs and smiles again, nodding before blinking as a rat climbs up her clothing to get at the delicious meal. She staunchly denies the rodent by picking it off of her. Despite squeaky-toy-esque protest, she sets the rat down and offers over a forkful of noodle rather than the whole box. "Taught you well, wouldn't you say? Although I worry about that 'Scratch.' He reminds me of someone I used to know... only more white on the head." She shrugs a shoulder, motioning with her chin and arched brow if Joey would like to sit. "Are you okay after that? I know we didn't really stay around there very long. I hope the Mystery Mobile was not too hard on your butt." She adds in a small, thoughtful mumble that she should get some extra cushion for the seats sometime.

Joey giggles, "Yah I am okay, and my butt's fine thanks. I do better with stuff if it just happens I think. The more time I got to think about it and get nervous over it, is worse. Throw me at something and it's like instincts take over." She smiles a bit and flops all the way down to sit, nodding to the box, "Can I have some? I was hoping to catch ya, I need some advice."

"Of course," Yi replies, turning the box towards Joey. Fishing around in her jacket pockets, she produces a still-in-package plastic spork and napkin, courtesy of the local Kitchen Fresh Chicken - or so the advertisement goes. Spork of plastic doom offered as well, Yi quirks her head to a side. "What is it you need advice on?" A smallish mottled brown rat scurries quickly out from its hiding place and stops at Joey's leg, whiskers twitching expectantly.

The small rat is given a finger to sniff over, but not offered any of the food that Joey gets to feast on. "Well," says the young Ragabash, "It's about Olga, and White Bear. She wants to offer him a spot in the Gnawers again, what with him being all kicked outta Roaches gig. It kinda bugs me."

Yi blinks, her fascination with the finger-sniffing rat broken. "What? White Bear? Gnawers? ..." The older newmoon's brow furrows then restraightens as she thinks this over. "Have you said anything to her about it?"

Joey nods, "Yah, I pleaded for her to not go that route, and then after seeing how disappointed it made her, I told her it'd be okay and I could learn to be a good little tribesmate to him." She sighs, "Not like he'd ever give me the chance."

Yi hrms softly, and then shakes her head. "Cockroach, from what I understand, sent a message to him that night. Because White Bear has been ignoring the Walker's ways for too long, Roach has rejected him. This is very serious for White Bear... as this means he is Ronin. He has no tribe." The term is quietly spoken, as if this would be an extremely serious offense to some ears. "It is true the Gnawers are likely to take in anyone... even we have some standards." A finger lifts to scratch at her chin. "I can see why Olga would want someone as White Bear to come to us. He is a good warrior, even if he is hardheaded as a coconut." Looking over at her fellow newmoon, she arches a brow. "You know that you /are/ allowed to be unpleasant about things you feel strongly for, yes? If you do not want White Bear in the tribe, then you should say so firmly. Even Olga sometimes must be reminded she does not know all there is to know or do all that is good to do for the Bone Gnawers here."

Joey's eye brows crease as Yi speaks with her, and she shakes her head with a shrug. "I can't argue with Olga on something that means so much to her Yi. I mean, I dunno. I only ever see White Bear if I'm bawnside, and all I get from him is insults, tribal slurs and eventually, his fangs on my throat. I doubt he'd even take the offer, but it just sorta scares me. I like the rest of you guys, ya know? Why throw a bad apple into the bushel."

Yi shakes her head slowly. "White Bear isn't bad - he's ahroun." The phrase seems to imply that this should be the main drive behind all of White Bear's hardheaded actions. "As ahrouns, they only ever understand strength. Of course, strength to them usually means in battle, but we ragabash have our own power. White Bear is... very traditional, I think. He sees the Gnawers as lowest of the low, until one of them out does him. Not to mention, we /are/ part of the city Garou, and he dislikes the city very much." The end of her fork taps against her chin. "But, I think I understand what you are saying. Personally I think White Bear hangs around the Wendigo so much that he should see what their spirit says about him... even though he does not look to be of their blood. After all... I was in a pack with Wendigo. I lived out on their Bluff for some time." A small smile comes from her, in memory. That smile quickly fades away briefly as she looks back to the other newmoon. "You should try to beat White Bear at his own tricks some time."

Joey spoons the plastic spork into the box and fishes out some noodles. Once swallowed, she gives a bob to her head, "Like how?" She licks at her lips, "Everytime I do anything, he gets up in my face."

"The point," Yi notes thoughtfully, "is knowing where to push the buttons, and when to stop. And of course, knowing how to get out before anything blows up." She looks over to the girl. "Give me an example - what do you do that makes him angry?"

The answer comes without any thought needed, "Breathe." She smirks. "Walk. Exist. Really."

Yi narrows an eye. "Hrm," she replies again, this time looking off. "He probably sees you as an omega. Only because you haven't bested him or shown yourself for stronger than he thinks you are." She looks back. "This could be a good, or a bad thing depending on how you see it. On one side, it means that he will not be paying you much attention... on the other side, you are seen as weak. So," Yi concludes, "you should find out how to use this to your advantage, or you should try to change it by proving to him just how skillful a ragabash you can be. Keep in mind, that we are often seen as low-life, only to surprise many a Garou about how resourceful we are. That, and you shouldn't be stuck on White Bear's opinion of you. He is but one Garou, and right now he is even lower in ranking than we are."

Joey gives Yi a thoughtful smile, "See I knew you'd be good for advice. You are the bestest Yi." And now, with her mood lifted, she does offer the little brown rat a nibble of a noodle. "Just the only thing is, I dunno how I'd ever one up him. I mean, what is there that I could show off to him with."

Yi smiles again, that lopsided grin. "Have you ever seen the cartoons where the coyote wants to eat the roadrunner?" She taps the fork handle on her chin again. "Or perhaps Speedy Gonzales and the cat, Sylvester?" Her gaze travels back to Joey. "If nothing else, think of it like this: an ahroun is the bull, and the ragabash is the matador." She rolls her free hand in a flourish.

Joey grins and nods her head at the cartoon references. "Yah, but the Roadrunner could always outrun the coyote Yi. I'd be chicken sandwich if that were me." She forks up another mouthful and chuckles around it. "I'll think on it though, dunno. What do you think about it? I mean, if White Bear were to be one of us?"

Yi pssh's at the thought. "If he is, then he'll eat his own words when he proves himself worthy of Rat's regard," she says with a smirk. "I would go so far to suggest he ask Uktena for favor, but he does not strike me as the kind of Garou to think before acting." A small chuckle is elicited from the ragabash. "As for outrunning the coyote, that is not true. The coyote sometimes had those rocket boots and he could go faster than Roadrunner. But then, Roadrunner always knew when to stop, where the Coyote kept going and fell off the cliff."

Joey chuckles, "I need to lure him down a dead end and paint a big fuzzy white wolf babe on the wall. Crash!" She leans back then, after taking one final scoop of chow mein, letting the rat lick the rest of the juice from her spoon. "White Bear would never feed the rats ya know."

Yi chuckls and nods understandingly. "Knowing him, he might want to eat them." She snags a noodle from the box and gives it over to a beady-eyed rodent scratching at her leg. "We can both talk to Olga about this, but I think White Bear won't join us anyway. I'll be surprised if he does, but if that happens, well, we will have to change our opinions of him too." She shrugs a shoulder, and looks back to the other raggie. "How is your pack coming along?"

Joey nods to that. "Oh, pack's gonna be good I think. Especially since the night at the Wharf, I feel better, ya know, like I won't totally suck." She grins mischievously. "We are almost ready to go out on our totem quest. Hey, what're those like anyway? Like a Rite of Passage?"

Yi cracks a grin, rolling her neck about to stretch it. "It is always different for each pack," she replies. "And it depends on who your ritemaster is, and perhaps who you wish to ask for their favor. But most importantly, is to at least be sure of your place and your purpose in the pack whatever it may be. For Salmon's Leap, I was their link to the city. For Synthesis, I was a scout even for just a short time. For Resonance, I am again the link to the city, but also a scout and the one to keep the others reminded of a healthy doubt, because even Megan-rhya should get poked with a cold nose some times." She smiles warmly. "I suspect you will become a valuable scout as well, for your pack, but also don't be afraid to stand up to them. Shadow Lords of all, need some poking."

Joey thinks on this for a moment before giving another brief nod. "Yah, I can do that. I think. I mean Lucas is pretty cool actually, for being so dark and ominous. Dillen I got around my little finger, and so, that just leaves Kenneth, who I don't really know very well. But like, what /happens/ during the quest?"

"It's a bit hard to describe," Yi says thoughtfully, looking up. "In Salmon's Leap, we had wanted to try getting the favor of Black Unicorn, which is like the Children of Gaia's totem but more ... war-like. But, eventually we had a rabbit come to us, and we chased it... which turned into Salmon. Spirits can sometimes change shape, you know? For Rough And Tumble, well, it was mainly because there were so many Gnawers in our pack that it seemed natural for Rat to come with us. Then for Synthesis and Resonance, I had not exactly come in right in the beginning. Instead, I had to prove myself to the totem spirit, or somehow gain acceptance from the spirit before being accepted. So, it is different for every pack I think."

Joey nods her head, "That's gonna be kinda scary. Handling stuff here is one thing, getting the spirits to think well of ya is differently. They're like I dunno, they see deeper then the rest of us, or something. I mean, not that anyone or anything should refuse something as cute and personable as me, but ya know. Stranger things have happened."

Yi laughs, leaning against the girl's shoulder with a nudge. "I must agree. Something as cute as you should have no problem winning people over. But, the spirits all have their own purposes and most do not judge just by looks alone. You only need remember what your pack's purpose is, and think of which spirit would best fit not just the pack, but your purpose in the pack as well."

Joey nods, "They are looking for a few, but gonna take whatever chooses us. Uhm, there was Bear, Rat, Dog, uh... some other one too. Rat would have no problem with me! Mama Rat looooves me ya know." She nods her head emphatically and reaches down to wiggle a finger at one of Her kids. "It'll work out I'm sure."

Yi hms, scooping one of the small brown-mottled rats up into her hand and letting it sniff around. "I have faith in you too. This sept has been very good for Garou on their journeys." She scratches the rat lightly and then sets it down, letting the rodent scurry away with a prize of sliced cabbage. "Of which there are many." Then she stands up, stretching her hands up above her head. "Oof," she grunts, stretching out some more sore areas of her body. "I think I will go and get some more food for these children, hm? Do you want anything more?"

Joey smiles and shakes her head, "Oh hey Yi, I think I'm gonna get a part time job, to help out with stuff around here. So when I do, I'll treat you to an extra nice carry out dinner, okay?"

Yi browlifts, and then breaks out into a wide smile. She nods, and leans over to poke the girl's shoulder. "I will hold you to that then, and we can have a good meal at the Yellow River some time. And maybe make Olga take a shower too," she teases in thought, before turning to head out. "Don't worry about the box. If you leave it on the seats, the rats will take it."
