Farmhouse: Hallway and Living Room
All doorways in the front part of the house lead to the front hallway, a J-shaped area with the short tail starting at the stairs, the front door hitting the bottom curve, the doorless opening to the living room halfway up the long side, and the also doorless opening to the kitchen and dining room at the very top. The hall has a simple wooden floor, and decorated with a generic print of soft-colored flowers hanging on the wall to the right of the front door, and a tall table sitting under the print which serves as a place to toss keys. A closet under the stairs serves as a place to hang coats or to toss shoes.
The doorless opening to the living room is halfway up the side of the hall's J, and the word cozy might spring to mind when looking into is, as it seems to radiate comforting vibrations. A long couch sits against the south wall beneath a large bay window curtained only by sheers that manages to obscure the view in but only filters the day's light. A variety of out-of-date magazines are strewn atop a low coffee table; more neatly presented are the plethora of books filling the small bookshelves which line the eastern wall. Three chairs sit about the room, focused inward, to allow group conversations. Large floor pillows are stacked in one corner of the room, except one, which lies carelessly in the middle of the floor, apparently left out the last time it was used.
An opening in the northern end of the hallway allows access to the kitchen and dining room at the back of the house, while carpeted stairs twist up at the other end of the hall, leading to the second floor. A door at the base of the J lets out to the front porch.

[look Aubrey]
Aubrey has a sense of natural beauty in her appearance. She is not as noticeable Irish as some but shows some features of her nationality. Her hair is a natural light chestnut color, which flows straight and smoothly to her gangly shoulders with long bangs that fall loose around her defined face. Rested below high arched eyebrows is a pair of vivid golden-brown eyes. She has a piecing over her right eyebrow. Thin lips sit below her sloped button nose. Her ears display half-dozen earrings along her ear lobes. She is fit, with a modest appearance and also a curvaceous figure.
This woman is dressed sensibly for the spring and upcoming summer weather. She is dressed in layers of clothing, a cami white top with a silk roll-sleeve pink shirt followed by a denim jacket and a pair of hip-fit jeans. A leather thong hangs around her neck from which dangles a Celtic cross. Her footwear is a pair of cowboy boots. A thick and long wool winter coat and beige cowboy hat accompanies her while outdoors.

[look Trevor]
A tall man, roughly 6', Trevor has long black hair that frames his face and sits atop his collar. His eyes are a pale blue, just this side of watery. While he's certainly no weakling he's not exactly a muscle-bound hulk either. In fact physically he's fairly average. In good shape, but a little stretched out because of his height. He's wearing plain black trousers, a semi-formal white shirt and a large black traveller's greatcoat.
[look Yi]
Hidden under the Cantonese heritage and careful masks of calm is the cunning danger of the wolf within, peeking out in Yi's manner of observing her surroundings in a discreetly alert manner. Though petite at about 5'4" with a slim, boyish figure, she hardly gives off the impression of a helpless, fragile woman. Her straight, long black hair streaks with highlights, adding just a bit of color to enhance her dark eyes and give her the classic Asian girl appearance that would blend her into the crowds. Though technically an adult, Yi seems to take up the easygoing street teen look well. Slim under her layers of baggy clothes, a hooded double-layered flannel sweatshirt, navy, grey and white small-boxed plaid on the outside with a thick grey hood covers around an ivory white sweater. Peeking out from underneath the hems of the sweater, a large sized olive-drab green shirt whose sleeves are long enough to pull out and cover half her palms. A faded grey-blue pair of baggy jeans fit over her lower body, the cuffs falling over rugged boots. The only things that shine from the girl are the thin chain which loops her neck, and her dark eyes that gleam brightly. Her hair is straight and black, framing her face neatly and adding emphasis to her feeling of latent intelligence and perceptiveness. One who pays attention to her might notice the thin scars upon neck, forehead and her limbs which make her look as if she had gone through some rough times before. (+detail Yi's Scars) Aside from that though, she moves with a fluid grace and speaks with a mixed, distinct accent of one whose native language clearly is not English but good enough to be considered fairly fluent.
Yi reclines on the couch in the farmhouse, head back and eyes closed. Her right pant leg is rolled up part way, showing a semi-fresh bandage wrapped around her leg.
Trevor is sitting in 'his' chair, trying to read a book. Unfortunately it's hard to turn the pages when one of your arms is more or less useless. His left leg dosn't look much better, either. The Galliard is generally a mess.
The dull rumble of an approaching motorcycle can be heard coming up the lane and coming to a stop in front of the farmhouse. Aubrey opens the door to the front, pushing it open with her hip. She looks at the two battered Garou with a bit of a surprised expression.
Yi cracks an eye open at the sound of the motorcycle, especially since it's headed closer. Slowly her head lifts from the couch back, looking to the front door with expectant expression. As Aubrey steps in, the Gnawer gains a fleeting grin. "Good afternoon," she greets, shifting a bit on the couch to make room.
"Aubrey-Rhya." Trevor smiles, attempting to turn the page with the fingers of his good hand while not losing his place in the book. "How does today find you?"
Aubrey sits carefully on the couch, looking between Yi and Trevor. "I am fine," she says, "... but what happened to you two?"
Yi faintly smiles agian, gazing over to Trevor. "I think I should let the galliard spin the story," she murmurs, one hand touching lightly on the back of her head.
Trevor puts the book to one side, straightning up and seeming to come to life. "All stories have a beginning. As it happens the beginning of this one is in Crescent Wing's umbral territory. The evening was warm, and Luna shone softly down. I was patrolling our territory, going slowly and carefully. There was nothing out of the ordinary until I reached about half-way. As I stood, paused, in contemplation of my surroundings, a small, candy-floss like, ball rolled across my path and into the undergrowth. Of course, I followed."
Aubrey rises an eyebrow an perches at the edge of her seat, listening attentively to Trevor's story.
Yi, having not heard the origin of the candyfloss of DOOM herself, sits up some more to listen. "Good thing it was a full moon," she adds in.
Nodding to Yi, Trevor continues. "When I emerged after it, what I saw took my breath away. A huge herd of the creatures, slowly heading for the Caern. They were being joined by more of their kind from all directions, save that which the herd was heading in. I quickly raced alongside, arriving at the head of the herd. There I poked one of the balls with my paw. It unfolded, doubling in height. The creature's head was like a radar dish, with a maw full of fangs. It's lower body had two legs and a tail, to support itself with."
Aubrey gives an expression of concern, although she gestures for Trevor to go on without interupting. She will save her questions until Trevor is finished.
Yi closes an eye with a brief wince. Just remembering the maw full of fangs that was latched onto her leg is enough to remember the pain. Her leg throbs in added memory. "Like giant cotton balls with teeth and legs," she describes further, "but without any eyes. Didn't you say they moved by sound?"
Trevor nods. "I'm coming to that just now. The creature fastened itself onto my hand, even as I shifted up into the Warform. My claws quickly made short work of the foul beast, but my howl of rage caused others to uncurl. They moved their heads from side to side, as though scanning for me. That's when I realised, they were blind and relied on sound. As they advanced on me, I reached into the Realm. Finding myself at the lone boulder, I howled to my brothers and sisters for aid. Then I waited, for any who would respond."
Aubrey nods slowly and continues listening.
Yi then smirks a little bit. "That howl I heard from the caern. Rags would have gone too, but he stayed behind to protect the caern center." She neglects to say that the Uktena was likely the worst hurt in the Revel.
"So it was that Yi Three-Blades of the Bone Gnawers answered my call." Trevor smiles. "I shared what I had discovered of the creatures, and we agreed a silent attack would be best. Returning to the Umbra, we found the herd had greatly increased in size and was making good progress. We travelled alongside, getting to the head of the herd as quickly as possible. It took us far longer than it had taken me the first time, but we ended up in front of them. They came on, unknowingly, towards us like a slow and steady steamroller."
Aubrey seems to be interested and concerned at the same time. These creatures that Trevor is talking about she has never seen before, which causes some alarm with the Fianna Theurge.
Yi feels the shiver on her spine crawl up again and she leans back further into the couch with a huff. "So... wonder if there's more still... hiding somewhere."
Trevor dosn't respond, lost in the story. "Communicating silently through hand-signals, we struck. The creatures fell easily before our claws, until something went wrong. One of them was not killed instantly, and emitted a keening so high-pitched I doubt it would have been audible in homid. The others unrolled, coming towards us. Yi and I split up, heading in different directions. A third followed me, and a third Yi. Those remaining carried on as though nothing had happened. It was as though the herd was one creature, with one mind."
Aubrey knots her eyebrows, still listening.
Yi nods as that part of the story is reached. "They moved with many minds, but with one target. Like pirahna fish."
"Now the battle began in earnest. The creatures lept at us, attaching their razor sharp teeth to our flesh whereever they could find purchase. Once they had their teeth in, they turned the area into bloody, pulpy, mush. Legs, backs, arms...all were targetted. It seemed like whenever we killed one, another attached itself to us. We fought on, burning with rage. We fought hard, determined to emerge the victors when it was finally over."
Aubrey listens, still perched at the edge of her seat. Her jaw is loose, slightly hanging open as she looks at the two in misbelief.
Yi glances at Trevor then, the wonder and disbelief that they are still alive yet present on her features. "To tell the truth, I thought we were dead."
"It seemed like they were a never-ending wave." Trevor nods in agreement. "But slowly, surely, we began to gain ground. They tore us apart, but they could not tear our spirits. Though we were bloody, pulpy, messes, almost unrecognisable, we were triumphant. The third group were lost to us, but our battle was not over yet. We knew we had to warn those at the Caern, and that meant returning to the Realm."
Aubrey listens still. She is nearly hanging onto the edge of her seat. Her mouth is stuck in this 'o' position, before she covers her hand over her lips while looking towards her tribemate.
Yi looks down to her bandaged leg, a hand going to touch the bandage and test its tightness. "So we willed ourselves back up to our broken legs. We would go back together or not at all."
As Yi looks down at her bandadged leg, Trevor looks down at his own useless limb and nods. "Yi leant me her strength when mine began to fail me. She was adamaent we would go back together. Concentrating hard at her urging, I murmured a prayer to Father Stag that he might reach out to His son, grasp my hand, and lead me safely home. We found ourselves back at the lone boulder, and howled that all might here. Those creatures are still out there somewhere, the Bawn is large. But we will hunt them, find them, and finish what we started." The Galliard looks like he might have difficult finishing a rabbit right now, and Yi isn't that much better. He ignores this fact though, eyes shining with martial pride.
Aubrey looks slightly distrubed that there are these things in the umbra right now, just waiting for their chance to attack again. "How many have you alerted so far?" she asks.
Yi brow furrows, thinking of the creatures in the Umbra. "We howled out the warnings, but I have told Megan-rhya, as well as Eamon and Alicia. Trevor and I have been trying to gather others."
"I have also told Karl and Ariyana." Trevor adds onto the list. "And all those we have told, I am sure, will tell people." He sighs. "It is a pity we could not have finished them then and there." He seems apologetic, and guilty.
"Sorry," Aubrey replies. "I had to watch over the caern during the revel, the night afterward I was taking care of some business in the city."
Yi shakes her head at that. "As long as you know now." The Gnawer looks to Trevor as well. "It would have been worse if we had fallen. I don't want to think about what would happen if we did not warn others."
"Yes." Trevor nods. "Forewarned if forearmed, they will be hunted down and decimated now. But with no permenant Guardians....who can tell what would have happened if they had shown up unannounced." He shivers at the thought.
Aubrey seems to be a little concerned about this news. "I had thought that Scourge was taking over primary Guardianship?" she asks. Aubrey suddenly seems to be a little furious about something. "Whatever happened to our monthly Guardians?"
Yi runs her hand through her hair, an iffy feeling passing through as she looks to Aubrey. "I think what is most concerning, is how easily the spirits passed through the Bawn in the Shadow. It seems like the caern's fall is much more dangerous in the after effects than we thought."
"I do not know, Aubrey-Rhya." Trevor replies, shaking his head. "You would have to speak to Seeker-Rhya, or Megan-Rhya."
Aubrey nods her head. "I think so..." Aubrey replies. "Some of the intence security since Megan has been here is begining to slack... even though we do have more packs now." She looks to Yi for a moment. "I am never putting this sept every in the line of danger again. Reguardless, this situation has to be taken care of." Her eyes return to Trevor. "Who are those around the bawn now beside Crescent Wing and Scourge?"
Yi looks a little guilty. "Scourge, you know, is a little weakened as Luke was..." she trails briefly, "And Leonard is still on his Fostern challenge. Who knows when he will return?" Shrugging, the ragabash considers options. "Seeker had also wanted to form a Guardian pack, but it does mean restriction to the Bawn. Then again... if a Strider can keep within a territory, then why not another?" The three cliath are at the moment, conversing about something in none-too-quiet tones.
Trevor nods in support of Yi's words. "That's pretty much what I know also, Aubrey-Rhya." He seems rather subdued, for some reason.
From the kitchen, Mara can hear voices. She's been trying to stay out of people's way lately, doing some thinking. But she's done that and is ready to move on. She pokes her head into the living room. "Um, hey. Is it okay if I join you?"
Aubrey seems to be deep in thought, she scrubs the back of her neck and slowly stands from the couch. "I am going to head to the Grotto and see if Megan is there, have a talk with her." she replies. "If you see her, let her know that I am looking for her-- alright?"
Yi nods to Aubrey, glancing towards the kitchen at the unfamiliar voice. Her eyes stray to both Fianna. "Come in," she calls back. "If I see Seeker, I will tell him too."
"Mother watch you, Aubrey-Rhya." Trevor nods to both of them, lifting up his good arm to wave goodbye. "When next you have some free time, there are some things we should probably discuss."
Mara sits down on the couch, lloking from person to person. "I'm not interupting anything, am I?"
A light seems to flicker up in the Theurge's skull. "Right," she murmurs at the mention of Seeker. Then, her eyes look to Trevor, noding slowly. "Of course," she replies before she heads to the front door, pushing the door open. "I am just leaving..." she tells Mara. Several moments later the engine of the motorcycle can be heard before she seems to be heading back towards the cabin.
Yi moves aside on the couch to make room, her own leg heavily bandaged. She looks quite a bit better than Trevor though. The two Garou look to have been through a chipper shredder of a party. "Not at all," she replies, looking the new face up and down. "Though, we haven't met before." She maintains a pleasant, calm look.
[look Mara]
Mara is a petite woman-child in her early to mid teens, barely topping five feet. Her eyes are large and dark in a heart-shaped face. Her lightly bronzed skin and dark brown hair could come from any mix of ethnicity. Her hair is past her shoulders and pulled back in a braid. She wears a pair of worn, stained jeans and a plain grey T-shirt two sizes too big. Her battered sneakers are tied with a much newer pair of laces. She smells of sweat and pine.
"I'm Mara. Theurge cub of unknown Tribe." She turn's to Trevor. "That's partially what I wanted to talk to you about."
"Oh?" Trevor cocks his head on one side, looking at Mara. One of his arms is mangled and useless, and his left leg isn't much better. He's a complete mess, but he seems to be all there mentally. "What can I do for you, Mara?"
Yi looks a bit surprised by Mara's intro, but in an amused sense. "Unknown tribe? Well, nice to meet you, Mara. I am Yi, known as Three-Blades, one of the ragabash for the Bone Gnawers." Her short intro done, she looks between poor mangled Trevor and the cub.
"Megan gave me a month to choose a Tribe. And, well, I've realized how in the dark I am about... everything, really. I mean, not that you guys haven't been great and all, but lately, I feel like my life is being lived for me. And I'm really not comfortable with that." Mara tugs at her braid with one hand. "I get that I really don't know anything and I get the whoel 'listen to your betters'. I'm not saying I know best or anything. Just that the choices I make have to be my choices, you know? And if I'm going to make choices, I need information. So... If I'm not asking way to much here, I was hoping you could help with that. Point me to people who can tell me about their Tribes? And maybe a Theurge who can teach me what I need to know?"
"I can do that." Trevor nods after a moment. "I can do both of those. Have you been told anything at all about the different Tribes?"
Yi continues to watch on between the two. "I could tell you a little bit about the Bone Gnawers," she volunteers from aside. "Though you are lucky that Megan-rhya has given you a choice."
Mara chews at the tip of her braid as she thinks. "Well, I know about the Fianna, obviously. And, again, you guys have been great, but... I don't think that's where I belong, you know? It's just doesn't seem right. Todd told me a bit about being a Bone Gnawer and he seems real happy with it and all, but I've never lived in a city and I'm not sure I want to start now. And then I've met some members of the Black Furies, the Glass Walkers and the Silent Striders, but we really didn't get into what the Tribes were like."
"That's been the way of it recently, lost cubs getting to choose." Trevor nods to Yi, before thinking about it. "Well, if you don't want to live in a city the Glass Walkers are not for you." He tells Mara. "I will arrange for you to meet with represenatives from suitable tribes as soon as possible." Which means he won't be inviting the Get, The Lords and the Fangs.
Mara frowns down at her now soggy braid. "Can you remind me what are the other Tribes? I'd really rather not embarrass myself by telling someone I'd never heard of them before."
Yi brow arches, the Gnawer a little distraught that Mara's impression of the Bone Gnawers would be from a cub barely inducted into the ways. But, it's Trevor's sudden talk of 'arrangements' that has her glancing at him in a questioning manner. "I know at least one Bone Gnawer who has felt at home in the woods rather than the city," she says. "But if you want to know all the tribes... you know of the Black Furies, Glass Walkers, Striders, Fianna, Gnawers. To be brief, there are the Get of Fenris, Silver Fangs, Shadow Lords, Red Talons, and Stargazers, as well as the Wendigo and Uktena."
"And the Children of Gaia." Trevor finishes the list. "But as I say, if you wish me to put you in touch with those who can tell you about their Tribe, I will."
"Thanks. I would." Mara wrinkles her nose in thought. "As for the Bone Gnawers, if the rest of the Tribe were in the city, wouldn't I be expected to be based there? It's not just that I'm more comfortable out of it. I get kinda claustrophoic. We went to Columbus a few times for school and while it was nice to visit and all, I was always glad to leave. Everything was so... Well, it was a city. I don't know how to be in a city."
Yi furrows her brow again, as Trevor adds the tribe she missed. Doh. Moving on though, she tries to determine things about Mara, though reading books are probably easier. "Where are you from?" The ragabash, born and raised in the middle of the such a densely populated territory as Hong Kong, probably doesn't know any better about woodlands.
Trevor falls silent, letting the two talk. The Galliard seems to be drifting off somewhere.
Mara says "Middle-of-nowhere, Ohio. About a mile or two outside Mt. Vernon. It's little twon. Well, not little, little. Some of the places near there are one-sneeze towns. But nowhere near the size of a city. Maybe ten, twenty thousand people.""
"One-sneeze towns?" Yi echoes, the term unfamiliar. "This is a very... different sept from the one I first was in, I will say that much." She glances again at Trevor. "But I suppose you could say that we have our regular traditions too. Even if the Fianna are the way they are, I'm sure they wouldn't look down their nose at you if you don't drink."
"Ummm... one-sneeze." Mara considers how to explain. "It's a town where, if your driving through on the main road and you sneeze as your coming inot the town, by the time you open your eyes, you'll be out of it."
Trevor chuckles at the idea, but dosn't otherwise comment.
Yi interprets Mara's explanation, and then laughs aloud. "That is funny. To be honest though, you -are- lucky you have a choice. You see, some tribes... they are very picky about the cubs that are chosen. Though the Bone Gnawers are less so, I have no doubt that unless you can prove your strength against the Get of Fenris, or your cunning to the Shadow Lords, or even your bloodlines to the Silver Fangs, you probably will not be truly invited to their parties. And the Talons, well, they are all wolf-born. Not a good idea to try and find them to join."
Mara winces. "Well, the Silver Fangs are out, that's for sure. I have zero clue who my father is. And I think that's where I get the whole furry thing from. And I always lose at arm wrestling. I don't suppose the Get of Fenris would settle for being outlasted, would they?"
"You don't want to join the Get." Trevor says, in a firm voice. "And as Yi says, I doubt they would take you."
Mara sighs. "Yeah, well, you're probably right. People who are into strength tend not to be impressed by sitting perfectly still for three hours or walking long distances. They always want to see you smash a board with your head. And I don't think anyone's ever called me cunning."
Yi glances at the Fianna, curiosity crossing her features at the firmness he has about the Get. "Well, they aren't known for taking the physically weak," she says with a nod. "The Wendigo are, to my knowledge, of the First Peoples here in the Americas. The Uktena, too, are part of this idea, but I think perhaps they are more loose about their tribe's origins."
Mara groans. "Are there any Tribes which I'm actually qualified for?"
"You don't want to join the Shadow Lords, either." Trevor says, equally firmly. "The Wendigo and Uktena....it depends, to be honest. A lot of them are very keen on keeping their bloodlines as exclusive as possible though." He thinks for a minute. "GLass Walkers, Bone Gnawers, Fianna, Children of Gaia, Black Furies. Of course the first three you don't want to join."
Mara thinks it over. "So, unless we get an easy going Wendigo or Uktena, my choices are the Black Furies or the Children of Gaia, huh? What are they like?"
Yi nods slowly. "The Furies are almost all female in tribe, and the Children of Gaia... well they are from all over the world."
"If you like, I can introduce you to representatives of both Tribes?" Trevor asks Mara.
Mara says "I'd like that. I just... I want a place where I'll fit in, you know? I'm tired of being the one people got stuck with."
Yi puts a hand to the back of her head. "Mm, well, Alicia is the elder for the Children. And, I'm not very sure who is the elder now for the Furies. Maybe Helen would be a good choice," she muses. "More importantly though, I think you too must figure out a purpose for yourself. How much do you know about your auspice?"
Mara is back to pulling at her braid. "I know I'm supposed to speak with spirits. And that some spirits are animals. Only... How much are they like real animals?"
Yi considers that, thinking of all the spirit encounters she's had. "There are more spirits than just animal spirits. And far more different than anything you could think of. I was only able to speak to spirits once or twice in their own tongue, but I will say they are very different. Yes. And there are spirits for... almost everything you could think of."
Mara gives a slightly demented grin. "Car washes?"
Yi looks puzzled at that question. "If there are, I've not seen one. You could ask another theurge about that one. But I think spirits are more... well they appear to be everywhere. The more powerful ones are very old."
Taslyn comes into the house and looks right at Trevor. "TREVOR." She says in rather a not so happy tone. "You know that when things like this happen you are supposed to call me if I am not here!" She gives a great big sigh, looking at the two that are bandaged. "I go to stay the night with Jess and... Dammit." She looks exasperated. "Least you could have done was call me back into the farmhouse!" Her arms are folded across her chest.
Mara nods. "Trust me, I'm keeping a mental list of questions. Only, I haven't found anyone to teach me yet."
Seeker nods to the garou in the room as he enters, then takes a seat quietly.
"You know perfectly well we don't have a phone here, Tas." Trevor replies with a sigh. "And I won't use one of those...little ones. Besides, I'm more than capable of looking after myself. It's just a few wounds." He bows his head to the Warder. "Seeker-Rhya."
Yi looks startled for a moment, coming out of her musing reveries. She looks at Tas, and then her gaze flickers to Seeker. That at least brightens the ragabash's expression. Her own right pant leg is rolled up and heavily swathed with a bandage. "At least Trevor and I are here to tell you what happened, right?" Momentarily she breaks off to nod at Mara. "There are many theurges in this Sept. Our Gatekeeper, Jamethon Fights-For-Hope, is notably so. And there is also Aubrey, who you just saw."
Taslyn blows out a deep breath. "Yeah... Just like the black Knight in Monty Python." She does her best imitation. "Yer arm's off! No it isn't." And then she stops... And laughs a little. "Okay. Hissy fit aside... I found out and got here as soon as I could." She thens bows her head a little to Seeker and smiles. "Evening, Seeker-Rhya." And then looks back to the injured. "IS there anything I can do?"
Mara considers this. "Yeah, I forgot. I think someone mentioned it when Megan took us into the Umbra." Her shoulders drop. "I think Megan was hoping to find a kinfetch mark. But there wasn't anything."
Seeker arches an eyebrow at Mara, then glances at the other garou gathered. "Can any of you perform the Rite of Cleansing? I need to clean the poison from the wounds I received on the Revel."
"I'm afraid I cannot, Seeker-Rhya." Trevor bows his head again, looking very apologetic. Then he shakes his head to Taslyn. "There is nothing you can do, all is well."
Yi nods slowly at Mara's comment. "Do not worry. It took me some time to remember all the names and faces I've seen pass through here." The ragabash smiles, partly because Taslyn's voice just changes in that funny Monty Python way. Her concerned look goes to Seeker though, and as she was at the Revel too, the no-moon's smile fades as she looks at her own body. "Jamethon doesn't know the rite?"
Taslyn looks to Seeker, "I cannot. But I believe that Aubrey cleansed me after Wendigo tried to eat my hand."
Seeker says "He may, I haven't asked him yet. I know it myself, but I should be cleansed before I perform it, and I cannot perform it on myself. No matter, I will find someone."
"Okay, here's another question that maybe you can answer," says Mara. "I see three people who got beaten up really badly and someone just mentioned almost having their hand eaten. This should scare me, but it doesn't. Is that a Garou thing or was I just born without any common sense?"
Yi makes a mental note to find a theurge herself, just in case. On another line, Mara's question elicits a chuckle from the no-moon. "As Garou, one of the gifts granted to us is the ability to heal quickly. Don't expect to be perfect, though. Not even Gaia's gift can save you if you are shot in the head, or have your head cut off. But... if you know the legends that humans have of werewolves, not even we are invincible. Silver will hurt us, and so does fire, as well as other things."
Seeker looks at Mara. "It is not exactly an everyday occurrence, but when you live the life of a warrior, such injuries occur. Fortunately, Gaia gave us gifts and made us strong and able to heal quickly from most forms of damage."
Taslyn looks to Mara and smiles. She holds up her hand and shows that it is fully intact. "If you had seen it then, you would have never thought it would be like this again." She smiles a little, "Takes a while... But we grow back. All part of the package."
"Indeed." Trevor nods. "It is likely I will regain full use of my limbs. You wouldn't think so, but just you wait and see."
Mara shakes her head. "I meant the lack of fear thing, not the healing. Though... the healing thing is really cool. Of course, you know what they say about healthy people. They're just dying more slowly than the rest of us."
Seeker says "For your information, spread the word that anyone bitten during the revel should be cleansed."
Yi looks at Seeker and nods solemnly. Great. She's in need of a cleansing. "Lack of fear may not necessarily be a bad thing, but a lack of caution can be."
Seeker says "Only a fool does not feel fear. Fear must be controlled and channeled to fuel your movements in combat, otherwise it will overwhelm you and render you useless. Or worse, you may lose control and attack friends as you would enemies."
Mara nods. "Just because I'm not afraid of dying, doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to do so. I've got lots to do first."
Taslyn nods a bit to Mara, "Oh... While it was happening, I won't lie to you, I was scared to death. I mean... Here is this big ice beast, /eating/ my hand. I was hanging by it. Had it not been for Trevor, Josh, and Karl... I would be dead." She shrugs. "But we can turn that fear into rage and win." She winks. "By the way... I'm Taslyn, Taslyn Forrester. Just call me Tas." She holds out a hand to shake Mara's. "Also known as Defends-Her-Worth, Fianna Half-moon and one of the people that looks over the farmhouse.
Mara shakes Tas's hand. "I'm Mara, a theurge. That's pretty much it at this point."
Seeker nods at Mara. "And I am Seeker, fostern ahroun of the Silent Striders and Warder of the Caern of the Hidden Walk. I am responsible for the defense of the caern."
Mara blurts out, "Can you tell me about the Silent Striders?"
Trevor just sits in silence, listning.
Yi motions with a hand towards Mara. "Megan-rhya's given her a choice about her tribe. Lucky cub, wouldn't you say?"
"Incredibly lucky." Taslyn shakes the cubs hand. "I hope she finds her home."
Seeker nods. "Certainly. My tribe originated in ancient Egypt, where we were the guardians of that land and its people. However, the leeches overran Egypt and drove us out, disconnecting us from our homeland and ancestors and dispersing the tribe across the globe. We continue to wander to this day, until we regain our homeland."
Mara considers what Seeker has said. "What is like? Being a Silent strider? What do you do?"
Taslyn snickers. "Be really quiet and walks around a lot?" She walks over and pats a hand on Trevor's shoulder.
Yi quirks her head at Seeker. "As expected," she says jokingly, "Seeker-rhya only says what needs to be known. You Striders are almost as hard to get information out of as any theurge."
Trevor is very quiet. He may well be half-asleep, it's hard to tell.
Seeker says "It is not an easy path to follow. Most never stay in one place long, wandering continuously. We always search for hidden places, lost secrets, knowledge that can be used in the war against the Wyrm. We try to keep the traditions of ancient Egypt alive in the hopes that one day we might see our homeland again. Gaia gives us gifts of speed and travel to aid us in our wanderings."
Mara says "It doesn't sound that bad. If you try and stay in one place too long... Your view of the world narrows. When I left home, it was amazing. I mean... every place is unique.""
"And then when you travel for a long time, you get tired of leaving friends behind," Yi adds, on a quiet note.
"I spent years wandering, never having a home, a pack, a mate...any of those things." Trevor speaks up from where he is seated, eyes closed. "Just wandering and teaching, for years. I don't envy the Striders their lot, not a bit of it."
Mara frowns. "I guess I never felt like I had anything to leave behind."
Yi dips her head once, before making an effort to rise to her feet. "Perhaps you'll find something here that will be worth staying for. I think I will head to the caern now, to look for our Gatekeeper and ask about the cleansing rite." Limping towards the door, the ragabash looks back over her shoulder. "You'll find a place. Don't worry Mara."
