Regan Avenue, Downtown
Tenements, small businesses, and tiny restaurants line the street. Heavy metal bars encase the glass fronts of the stores. Battered cars, almost falling apart with rust, are parked haphazardly here and there along the sidewalks. People travel in groups, here, wary of the small gangs of young boys at street corners. Several blocks have the same dull repetitiveness, from Fifth Street all the way to Twelfth. Only the graffiti marks a difference between the blocks, the occasional rudeness sometimes broken up by light colors and strange designs.

Out of one of the smallish restaurants comes Yi, blending in to a relatively degree with the rest of the Saturday early afternoon crowd. The Gnawer has in her hand, swinging slightly as she walks, a plastic bag with some takeout from a cafe that normally serves sandwiches and coffee. The ragabash is on her way somewhere east, probably to the Park to eat.
As Yi is walking, a marble sized rock bounces off the top of her head. If the Gnawer looks up, she'll spot a raven circling overhead.
Yi reflexively siezes up, hand shooting up to her head and stopping her walk. She stares up, squinting towards the rooftops first with a tight-lipped restraint to keep from cursing at some invisible culprit. After a moment's watch, she spots the big black bird circling, and outwardly sighs. People around her pass by, affordingly but a second glance, yet don't say a thing. Yi adjusts her grip on her food for a little, and then quickly walks towards the closest fire escape ladder in an alley, climbing up to the roof of a squat three story tenement.
Val is waiting when Yi gets to the third floor, even offering the Gnawer a hand-up when she gets to the top.
Yi thanks for the hand up, making sure her lunch doesn't fall off the roof's edge as she hoists herself up as well. "Good afternoon Val," she greets the woman, her tone rather forcibly subdued as she proceeds with brushing off some concrete crumbs from her jeans. "Is there something you need to speak with me about?" Val would notice, Yi moves away to a polite distance. At least five feet is put between them.
Val cocks her head to one side, taking in the Gnawers rather subdued tone. "Sorry about the rock and all, not that it was very big, but it was the easiest way to get your attention. Aside from landing on your head and all, which would have attracted a bit more attention then I would have liked."
Yi waves a hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it," she remarks, still watching and waiting. "It was the quickest way, yes." Then, she makes herself sit down, her lunchbox being drawn out and opened up. "I do not think you called me to share lunch with, but," she turns the plastic box around and offers out her sandwich which has been cut in half. "It is the least I can offer, for what information I think you are about to tell me."
Val picks out the half-sandwich and takes a seat, resting some of her weight on her free hand. "Well, you'll probably be glad to know that the thing that was making those tainted animals is dead now. Formorized human. Seems he was putting green goop from his mouth into all sorts of animals, which was tainting them. Not that all the animals survived the process it seems, quite a few of them died from it."
Yi turns the box back to herself, but furrows her brow at this news. "How so?" she asks, not partaking of her lunch just yet. "I mean, how is the human dead?"
Val takes a bite out of her sandwich before continuing. "Well, seems that he tried his thing with a bull. Big, mean, bad tempered bull. New pet decided to stick him one, turn him into paste and then eat about half his body. Messy buisness, all around."
Yi doesn't seem very heartened by this news. "Then, these tainted animals are left out there, unwatched?"
Val says "Well, according to some of the feathered folk in the area, that bull seems to be the one in charge. The other tainted animals seem to treat him like some sort of a god, or king. All worshiping, fauning, and the like. Seems they all gather around this bull at sundown, to worship the guy, or suck up, or something like that.""
Val blinks a few times, then keeps talking. "Oh, right, the Umbra around the building isn't a blight yet, but its working on it. Only a matter of time until that happens. Didn't see anything buzzing around the place on that side, but I made a point of not getting all that close."
Yi's lips part, an expression of disbelief. "They.. worship the bull?" she echoes, and then blinks twice before shaking her head. "I see. Then, you have managed to find out much more in shorter time than I have been able to gather scouts." This is, as Val can see, not something she readily admits. And frustration is there as well, crossing her expression like a passing long train. "If the Garou kill this bull, then it might be possible to stop this quickly and cleanse the place before that happens." The Gnawer looks back up at her, serious. "Do you have a better count of their numbers? I suppose they have grown since then. Or, perhaps, those animals are tainting other animals now, instead of the fomor doing it."
Val lifts up her hands. "Well, thats something I can't really tell all that easily. Spirits and birds can tell you a lot, but they're not all that big on numbers. Just a bad place for them, with a lot of death hanging about. I do know that there are about a dozen raven and crows, but I already told you about them. There was that other critter I saw, which was probably a cow, as the spirits seemed to think this thing with the bull was a relativly recent event. Mostly, I'd be expecting you tp find farm animals and the like. However many this human formor could get his hands on. Was probably making them in that painted greenhouse. Atleast, thats the best guess that I can give you. Was probably living in the house, himself, and keeping the animals in the barn."
Yi nods slowly, and closes up the half sandwich in her box. She slips this back into the bag, apparently not going to eat right away. Her expression is bordering on grim, but more of a calmed resolve. The Gnawer's dark eyes flicker back up to the raven-woman. "Thank you Val," she says after a moment's silence. "You have done very much for us. When I take the scouts to get closer and see what is going on in those buildings, we will be able to get that much closer because of your valued information."
Val grins. "Hey, thats all good by me. Glad to be of service. Just, you know, remember that this isn't the only farm in the area. Lots and lots of flat land. People tend to ignore ravens, but not wolves, and these animals look normal enough from a distance."
Yi nods once, a grateful gesture for the additional information. Then she stands up again, brushing her clothes off and picking up the plastic baggie with the lunchbox. "I am headed to the park to have my lunch. If you care to join me, you can, though... you perhaps have more things to do. I will not keep you longer from them. Again, thank you."
