Harbor Park -- The Meadow(#194RJ)
One of the last bastions of green left in the city, mottled and withered grass and weeds covers the earth like a badly stained carpet, with the construction work turning what is left into just bare dirt. The vegetation seems marginally healthier the further it is from the river and much healthier towards the central area of the park around the fountain. Construction work is ongoing here: a raised earthen berm about five feet tall is being built all around the park perimeter, with two breaks each at the Bridge Street entrance and the First Street end. Wooden posts are being erected at regular intervals all along the earthen wall, while tasteful iron gates and fences are being added at the entrances. Overpowering the scent of living vegetation are the exhaust fumes from a busy street to the west and an unpleasant stench from the Columbia River to the east. From the street view or river view, the park is now isolated, as if it existed apart from the city. People in tall buildings have an excellent view of any goings-ons for now, though. In the center of the park, a small glade of six tall trees and a flower bed surrounds the fountain.
The murky waters of the Columbia River flow swiftly along the east side of the park. Bracketing the park to the west is First Street and the city of St. Claire.

Val is quickly making her way through the park, as are the few other souls brave enough to venture within the green space's boundries.

Yi lies on her back in the park, a set of earphones tucked into her ears. A book, opened and laid upon her chest, shows itself as some easy-to-read 3rd grade title, called A Walk in the Woods.

And the Gnawer is spoted, as Val alters her course and makes a bee-line for the no-moon. She comes to a stop next to Yi and stands above her, blocking out her sunlight. "Hello there. Fancy meeting you here. Actually could do with talking to one of you about now."

Yi blinks as Val invades her eyes on the sky. It takes a moment for her to register the Corax's face before she plucks out the earphones and half sits up. "Val? Hello..." Surprised, the ragabash shuffles the book closed. "How are you?"

"Oh, I'm well enough," Val replies, as she crouches down, resting her elbows on her knees. "Been seeing some things that might consern you a tad. Downright worry you, really."

Yi rakes a hand through her hair, working out a blade of grass stuck between strands. "Tell me," she remarks, not so much a command as a flat inquiry. "Those that I brought, we scouted the Shadow and found little save a couple of spirits. We sent them back to the circle of hell they came from." As if in distant memory the ragabash rubs at her leg, where the acid had touched her.

Val quirks her head to one side. "Oh, you mean that farmhouse. Oh, well, I'm not talking about that at all."

"Oh?" Yi's attention heightens. "Then, what is it this time?"

Val grins a bit. "Well, if you ever head up I-90 on the other side, there is this rather nasty looking smog spirit. Making itself rather comfortable with all the weaver spirits along the road. Getting bigger as time goes on. Probably going to make a nuisance of itself eventually."

Yi rubs a finger beneath her nose, in part to obscure the expression on her lips. She doesn't look to Val, instead looking towards the river and thinking. "I remember we took care of one such spirit not more than a few months ago. As you can see, some of us are still feeling its powers pointed at us." She points to her head, where her hair has regained a decent, but still short length. "What do you mean getting comfortable with the weaver?"

Val shrugs. "Its just settled in, all homeylike. Lots of weaver spirits in the area. Seem to be ignoring eachother for the most part."

Yi wets her lips, still not looking to the woman. "Where is this spirit?"

Val briefly rubs at the back of her neck. "I-90, bit north of your special place. Anything more specific and I'd probably have to show you when the moon gets bigger. I can stay well above most of the dangers in the area, but you can't. But yea, I could do that, if you wanted me to. Left a few markers in the area, but its nothing that you would be able to read or understand properly."

Nodding, Yi finally does look back to the woman. "Well, I think for the moment we will just have to keep our eyes on it and ears open. The farmhouse will be fixed quickly."

Val nods and straighten up. "Good, good. Well, let me know if you need anymore help reguarding that. I'm off, seeya." And with a wave, the bird-woman continues on her orrigional course, heading out of the park.

"Thank you, again, Val," Yi says after, giving the woman a small nod. "Please, do keep in touch."
