Big Red Barn(#3420RA)
The barn is built in the old style, a vast three level structure that is greater in height than a mere three stories, actually closer to five. Great wooden posts support the weight of the upper levels and roof, sunk into the hard-packed dirt floor of the first level like a sparse forest of regularly spaced, naked trees. The stalls and flagstones which once were here have been torn out to leave a rather open area where even crinos Garou may roam freely without fear of running into anything but the supports or the walls or the ladder at the back which allows access to the other two levels.
The first two levels are relatively open to each other, the second being only little wider than a catwalk going around all the walls but the front one, which has massive, twenty foot tall doors set into it. The third level is a true second floor except for a place cut out that allowed hay to be tossed down to the ground floor when the farm was actually worked. Now, it is a hayloft where Garou can sleep outside of the house.

Swinging herself around, Yi practices a few knifewielding techniques against shadow enemies. The Gnawer fostern's eyes are closed as she does so, and her feet move in sweeping arcs that take her around a few haybales set in the center of the barn. She seems to flow around them like riverwater around stones. Her breathing is steady, occassionally exhaling in short but quiet bursts as she strikes the invisible enemy.
Aaron arrives from outside the barn. He has a headband around his forehead, tying back his hair that is begining to grow thicker. He stops just inside the door as he watches Yi practicing.
Yi continues to move in blindness, getting faster as the mock battle 'heats up'. An arm comes up mid-dodge, her hand grabbing and twisting the opponent's knife away. Another time, it's a block with the knife blade itself and a hold before a hard knuckle-strike. Then a swift kick to the shadowtarget's head, and down hits the knife straight into the haybale beside her. Yi breathes out, and opens her eyes finally. It takes a little bit for her eyes to adjust and refocus, and when they do it is upon Aaron. "Good evening," she greets the ahroun cub.
Aaron nods his head quietly after watching Yi's fancy display. "You're good." he replies after a few seconds of silence. He leans against the wall, folding his arms across his chest.
Yi jerks the knife out, wiping it gently across the front of her thigh before switching it closed. "I practice," she replies with a smile and a nod. Gesturing to the haybales, the fostern offers, "Would you like to try?"
Aaron gives a shrug and then opens up his palm to the Fostern.
Yi nods, reaching into her other pocket and drawing out a long butterfly knife. She holds this one out in addition to the tactical, allowing the ahroun his choice.
Aaron looks at the choice of knives and choses the tacticel since it is easier to hold in his hands, and he seems to have more expierence with it rather than the butterfly.
Yi then slips out of the haybale obstacle course, remaining knife folded in hand. "You seem like you have had experience in the ways of knifefighting," she comments.
Aaron shakes his head. "Not really," he replies to the Fostern. "I just... was threatened a lot at school and asked my father about them one night."
"Oh?" Yi finds herself against a support post, leaning upon it as she wipes a bead of sweat from her brow. "What did he say?"
"He just explained a few moves to me and then bought me a knife the next day to keep in my bookbag, but I never used it." Aaron replies. "We weren't allowed to carry our bags to class anyway so it was mostly unused."
Yi ahs quietly, nodding a little. Then she goes quiet, waiting for the ahroun to demonstrate what he can do with the weapon in hand.
Aaron feels the weight of the blade in his hands before he narrows his eyes as Yi had done. He starts off in a stance, then makes a down-ward slash with a sweep of his body to duck the attacker. He uses the techniques that he has been learning with Touch Deer but incorporates them in with the weapon that he has been given. He swiches the knife in his hands, thrusts forward and then steps back just as quickly and sweeps to the side.
Yi pushes off the support as the cub begins. Her eyes narrow with the growing darkness of the structure, but she keenly attunes to the movements of the shadowfighting ahroun.
Aaron has swift movements, fluid movements of his body as he moves. He is limber than most Ahrouns, which makes his movements angile as he uses footwork mostly to move his body along with the trusts of his arm as he pushes his knife forward or draw back.
Yi circles around slowly, first not attempting any distraction. Eventually she comes around to one of the haybales on the far side from the door, propping her foot up on it. "You move well. Just have some openings, but nothing that cannot be covered." She doesn't move to interrupt the cub.
Aaron continues, although his head jerks slightly in response to the Fostern. He continues his movements, making a downward slash then shifts back.
Yi continues to watch, eyes gleaming even from the darkness. "How do you feel about a real match?" she asks the cub.
Aaron stops his movements and breaths in deeply as he looks to Yi. The teenager grunts softly, "I think it would be good." he replies.
Yi smiles at the reply. "Good," she echoes, slipping the butterfly out of her pocket and flipping it open. Coming over the haybale, she jumps into the miniature ring. "Show no mercy," the fostern dictates, "because you will get none."
"Just because you are better than me doesn't mean that I cannot stab harder," Aaron replies teasingly. He moves into the ring, already in a defence position, not doubting for a second that the Ragabash is going to be easy on him.
Yi laughs softly, nodding. "Here I go!" she calls out, swiftly pushing forward with the butterfly blade shooting out in front. It's a quick and simple stab - and yet there is a definitive action to it. It seems like she's going easy, for now.
Aaron ducks to the side and knocks Yi's hand away while using the other to strike at her. He is not the least hesitant about his actions, remembering how swiftly Garou are able to heal.
Yi takes the level up a notch. As her hand is knocked away, her grip on the blade handle remains firm. Her concern is not on her aborted strike, but on the one incoming. The ragabash steps in and slightly to the side to get beyond and inside the knife's range. Her shoulder dips and she lunges forth to shove the cub back forcibly.
Aaron turns on his feet, thrusting his knife again towards his opponent. He attempts to judge Yi's move two-steps ahead while concentrating on the movements occuring at the very second that they happen.
Yi ends up pushing air, but it serves at least the purpose of moving her just within the overlapping range of the knives. Two steps ahead seems barely enough, as the thrust forces the elder Gnawer to jump back. She smiles again, breathing out. "Almost," she notes for the very close-call. She starts circling the ahroun again.
Aaron does a grape-vine like side step as he dances keeping his front facing Yi at all times. He blocks as he stabs forward, moving his weight to keep free of the Fostern's blade.
The clank of metal on metal rings into the barn, quiet but still there as the two knives meet midway. Yi grabs for the ahroun's knifewielding arm to immobilize, her fingers almost like hawk's talons in their curvature.
Aaron uses his other arm to knock Yi's hand away from his while he shifts his shoulder and side kicks the Ragabash with his bare foot. If sucessful, he launches with his knife, thrusting forward.
Yi once more has her grapple aborted. As the cub's foot impacts against her side, she grunts with the hit, taking a step to the side with recoil. When the cub comes at her with his knife, though, she grins with enthusiasm. Sweeping down nearly to the ground, she ducks the thrust and her leg arcs to hook around one of the cub's. Her aim, jerking out the cub's leg from beneath him, or at least trying to unstabilize his stance.
Aaron losses his balance and hits the ground, although he is quick to duck Yi from uncoming attack. He locks his legs between her's to send her off balance long enough to get back on his feet. Otherwise he is going to have to keep ducking her oncoming stabs from his position in the ground.
Yi has done that move often enough to at least not get her foot caught in her own trap. She jerks herself free of the possible lock just before the cub's legs trap her. She does in fact stab down for the cub, looking like she's stabbing straight for his throat however.
Aaron rolls to the side and attempts to grab at Yi's stabbing arm by the elbow, yanking her off her balance while either thrusting at her side with his blade or kicking her again into the side to send her stumbling.
Yi's blade misses. And perhaps she slowed the strike just enough that the cub could dodge it. Her arm moves out of grabbing range as she switches knifehands from right to left. The junction is quick, and just in time to block blade with blade again before it ends up in her side. The cub's kick is enough to impact again, but now she hooks for her arm around the fullmoon's leg. Apparently, the ragabash is looking to immobilize.
Aaron braces his leg in Yi's hand while he uses one hand to lift his body to swing his other leg out to kick her in the head. For now he is simply in defense as he stuggles his way out of the situation.
Yi swings her body to a side, given the leg coming for her head. As the leg is about to make contact, she swings her own hand, knife point sticking straight up, to meet the oncoming blow. Aaron's trapped leg is freed in the process, but at possibly sacrificing one leg for the other.
The laws of motion don't stop Aaron's leg from meeting the sharp blade of the knife, watching as it tears through his sweatpants and makes his skin bleed. He curses, but manages to free himself and hobbles up to his feet again. His expression is bitter before he turns to launch again at Yi. His anger slowly rising with the taste of metal settling in his mouth from the open wound at his leg. The cub does not give up nor loose patience at his failure to perform. He feels fortunate that he has been allowed to go this far with a seasoned Garou.
Yi's expression also turns testy as the fight slows for just a second. The ragabash uses that second to take a step back, seeing her work. As the ahroun charges her, she again dodges to avoid getting cut, flipping her knife around to butt the end of the handle towards the cub's face.
Aaron ducks, keeping his head from reaching the handle of Yi's blade. He shifts, ducking Yi before meeting her side and trying his luck at the move that she had performed earlier.
Yi's stance seems firm, and the leg hooked gets her attention down there when her blow misses. With a short, emphatic 'hiy!' the fostern gets tripped up. She twists though, almost cat-like as her hands contact ground in effort to keep her off the floor. Similarly, she kicks out, but thrusting her foot forward in wicked speed right for the cub's torso to knock him away.
Aaron stumbles back, sitting directly on the haybale behind him. He thrusts his knife into the bale and waves his hands, showing that he has had enough. The cub is smart enough to know who is going to come up triumphant from this match.
Yi almost falls down right where she is herself, showing just how precarious her situation was in her effort. Close. She steadies herself quickly, almost as if to prepare for an expected next wave, but seeing the cub wave surrender, she relents. Yi picks herself up, knife held loosely at her side now. "That was excellent," the fostern praises, looking from face to leg. "How is your leg?"
Aaron nods his head, breathing deeply. "Fine," he replies, although he is clearly bleeding. He does not appear to care much that his clothes are ruined by the cut that was made and blood now staining the material. A slow grin creeps up on his lips. "I learn from the best," he says, tilting his head and looking up at his mentor.
Yi smiles back, and then rubs a hand against her kicked side. "You most certainly do," she agrees, wincing at the bruise that is on its way to forming. "Shift and heal. The wound and pain will disappear quickly enough." Though she doesn't do the same, the ragabash proceeds forward and retrieves the other knife from the haybale. "I think, a few more lessons will do it." The newmoon seats herself on the bale. "And then it will be up to you."
Aaron nods and remains with a smile , despite the winces that he makes every now and again. "At least I have something to say when I brag that I have learned from the best. I cannot say much for those yappy Fenrirs, although I still try to be nice to everyone."
Yi chuckles at the phrase. "Yappy Fenrirs. There is a pairing I do not make in my mind often." The butterfly knife is cleaned with a black bandanna extracted from a pocket. "The moon is getting smaller. You seem to be in a better mood. Think you will want to go back to the Odeon for a little while, or do you want to stay here?"
Aaron tilts his head. "I think I should," he replies. "It appears that Touch Deer has concluded what he would like me to know."
Yi lifts her brows. "How did you like his instruction?" she queries after. "I am sure some of what you were using in your fight was from him..."
Aaron nods his head. "I did," he retorts. "He is a strong fighter and a very loyal Garou comparatively to other Ahroun I have met."
Yi tilts her head at that. "Compared to other ahroun that you have met? Like who?" Though in conversation, she carefully makes sure both knives are cleaned up well enough to satisfy her before putting them away.
Aaron shrugs his shoulders. "Umm, well, I really have not been around many fullmoons that long so I cannot really compare him to anyone else." Aaron admits.
Yi nods understandingly. "Well, there is time still to meet them. Some fullmoons, besides Touch Deer... there is Clemency the Silver Fang, and Signe, the elder of the Get. And Reggie, Jacinta, Stacey... Circle Keeper and Tamara as well."
Aaron stretches and stands; quickly shifting into lupus and performing another stretch. He indicates to Yi that he is going to sleep for a bit before going back to the city.
