The barometric pressure reading is 30.20 and steady, and the relative humidity is 71 percent. The dewpoint is 39 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius.)
Rainbow Lake(#2713RJ)
Long and narrow, the lake stretches a mile to the north and south, right at the heart of the woodland. Tall, silver beech trunks mix with the even taller evergreens and dominate the mountain valley. Where the canopy has been broken by a fallen tree, a riot of brambles and nettles have erupted, clinging to anything and everything and fighting for light among the thick forest. Underfoot there is a deep bed of mulch and last year's leaves, muffling any footfall.
Other plants have found a foothold where the beeches make way for the line of water. The edges of the lake are overhung by a wall of dark myrtle, their scent hanging sweet and heavy in the air, giving the place a dreamlike quality. The waters of the lake itself are a clear, unruffled indigo, dropping into bottomless darkness, with otherworldly reflections of the sky floating above the depths. Rainbow flashes of light play about the reeds and weeds that break the surface here and there, throwing colors into the air.
Part of the valley around the lakeside to the south is clear of trees, and often here in the brush and grass a small herd of woods buffalo can be seen.

Longhouse Two Eagle's Bluff Blue Mountains
Circle Keeper slowly makes his way back from over the bluff, the wolf limping slightly as he goes along. In his mouth is a sad looking muskrat, only slightly chewed for its wear. He seems to be heading for the longhouse with his catch of the day.
Walks-Middle trots into view, making her way onto the territory from the bawn. Spotting Circle Keeper, the young wolf chuffs an enthusiastic greeting and runs toward him, tail swishing playfully.
The small herd of buffalo grazes further out, away from the main vicinity of the longhouse and adjoining living space. That's what makes it odd, when there appears out of thin air, the pack totem for the Guardians. Glacier is somewhat slow in fully Materializing, but the Bison spirit has chosen to step in. The creature snorts heavily, shaking that great horned shaggy head of his, and looks in the direction of the two wolves before beginning to lumber over.
Circle Keeper doesn't notice the bison, so used to having them as part of the scenery, instead clenching the muskrat that much tighter in his jaws as he sees the Stacey. He makes an odd sound, like he's trying to make a greeting noise without relaxing his grip on the mouthful.
Walks-Middle runs right up to Circle Keeper, tail wagging as she circles him playfully. Hello! It's a good day. Good, good day! She doesn't seem to care much about the muskrat, nor does she notice the Totem yet. Circle Keeper-rhya is well, yes?
Couldn't be that much longer that they can ignore him. Glacier simply continues to plod forth, the ground beneath shaking slightly with each step. The bison's neck cranes south, looking then towards the small herd still peacefully grazing away.
Circle Keeper tries to keep facing the younger packmate, making another muffled greeting back to the Gaian as she spins `round and `round him. Eventually he settles on facing just one direction and sticking to it, continuing towards the Longhouse's door.
Walks-Middle trots along with him as he heads toward the longhouse, bouncing from one side of him to another, still looking overly happy. In the course of circling and changing directions, the gray wolf notices the totem approaching them and skids to a halt with a short yelp of surprise.
Glacier comes to a stop when he is seen, standing quite still. *The moon is small,* the beast rumbles, the air rattling around him. One might consider it almost a complaint.
Well, the talking seems to get Ciuraq's attention. He starts a little, turning around to face the large bison, biting down just a little tighter as if the grazer might try to take his kill from him also. He does, however, lower his posture significantly, tail dropping to submissive.
Walks-Middle also drops to a submissive posture once she gets past her surprise. Her good mood continues, but sobered and sprinkled with curiosity. She glances from the bison to Circle Keeper as it rumbles, not understanding.
*The moon is small, but others still have come. Go see them.* The totem looks particularly at Circle Keeper, then regards Walks-Middle with a familial air.
Circle Keeper carefully sets down the kill, shifting up to hispo easily. The dire wolf keeps its posture low, lips pulling back into a submissive grin as he steps over the muskrat. *Now?*
Walks-Middle keeps low as well, following Circle Keeper's lead, her ears perked toward the Totem attentively, even though she still has no idea what's being said. She creeps forward as her packmate does, keeping about a half-step behind him.
The Bison gives the equivalent of a verbal shrug. *They can wait, if you can,* the spirit answers the Uktena. And with that, the totem spirit turns and starts to make his way towards the small herd of buffalo. Along the way, he starts to shimmer, then fades and disappears back across the Gauntlet.
Circle Keeper looks considerably disturbed, tail inching up slightly as in alarm. When he backs up to pick up the Muskrat, he nearly severs the thing in two from just plain old tension.
Walks-Middle cocks her head to the side as the Totem disappears, then turns to Circle Keeper, pawing at the ground with a faint whine. Well? Well? What did he say? What's going on?
Glacier-Rhya wants this one to go into the shadow to meet something, he says, ears scooping back in dismay. He will wait until sun goes down, but wants Circle Keeper to go.
Walks-Middle turns her head to look toward the water, then looks up at Circle Keeper, keeping close to the ground in a submissive, questioning fashion. Can this one go, too? Please, please? She will be good and quiet, but is curious.
Circle Keeper gives a flat, sharp 'no' in responce to Stacey's question, ears pushing back forward and head rising slightly.
Walks-Middle flattens her ears at that, tail lowering. She's submissive, but doesn't look happy. Okay, okay, sorry, sorry.
Circle Keeper's full of tough love, and doesn't budge even when Stacey gives him the sad puppy look. He tromps over to the longhouse, shifting to homid (Muskrat still in mouth) and walks in.
