[Setting: Brownstone Apt.]
Dillen sleeps somewhat fitfully next to his wife for several hours. Finally, he decides the couch is where he needs to be in order to not disturb the wife. Soon, he slumbers again, His brain drifts off, filling with visions of the day, distorted by his subconscious. He's walking around the bawn, trees whispering in Kenneth's voice as he searches for his packmate.
The sun filters through the trees, warming Dillen as he walks through the familiar bawn territory. A rabbit hops away into the bushes, birds chirp from nearby branches. All in all, it is a peaceful scene... except for the feeling of loss. Something is missing. The search leads the Get to a set of footprints, crossing his path and leading further into the woods. The whispered voice echoes through the trees and down this new-found trail.
Dillen bends down, checking the tracks with his fingers. His eyes search down the way, checking out the prints and where they go. Slowly, he beings to proceed down the path, following the voice.
The trail and the search continues deeper into the southern bawn, until it ends at a large clearing. A large boulder stands at its center, and beside it stands a shadowed figure, facing away from the Get and leaning against the stone.
Dillen makes his way towards the figure, slow. "Ken?" He opens his lips to speak. "That you, man?" Closer still.
The figure turns to face Dillen as he steps closer, and as the sunlight hits his face, the Get can see that it is, indeed, Kenneth. "Dillen," he answers, tone distance, regarding the Galliard.
Dillen stops in his steps and nods. "Yes. You okay, man?" He reaches over to place a hand on Kenneth's shoulder. "Worried as hell about you, man."
Kenneth shrugs off Dillen's hand. "Worried? Why do you care? You never could do anything for me." His eyes narrow as he looks at the Get. "Some Alpha. I had to leave to get what I needed."
Dillen narrows his own eyes at the Lord. "Leave? Fuck you. You know, I am sick and tired of you being this way. Given you all kinds of chances. Fuck off. I'm done." He shakes his head and starts to head away from Kenneth.
Kenneth actually laughs. "Good! Finally you'll leave me in peace. I have new friends now, stronger ones. I won't end up as pitiful as you or dead like Lucas," he calls out as Dillen leaves.
Dillen stops, back to Kenneth. "New friends?" He asks, a gritty tone to his voice. He then turns and looks at Kenneth, "Tell me of your friends?" His slow steps take him closer.
Kenneth steps closer as well, giving a slow, proud nod. "They are more powerful than any of you will ever be. You think you're safe here? You and Kevin? Your family? This Sept? You're just being toyed with."
His eyes alight with a fire. "Kenneth. You didn't..." Dillen's eyes are locked with Kenneth's. "Tell me that you are not..." He can't even say the words, for fear they are true.
Kenneth laughs again, the sky darkens to deep night with a blood red moon, and then the Shadow Lords holds out his hand. "You can join us. There is still time before the end. There is no other way... to survive."
Dillen stares at Kenneth. "I will die first." Dillen growls out, "You want me to join? Only in death." With that, he steps in, aiming a hearty punch at Kenneth, intent on knocking him out and dragging him back to get some help.
Kenneth easily catches the punch, his hand gripping Dillen's fist with abnormal strength. He grins as he shifts into a large mockery of Crinos. ~Fool. You are no match for the strength of our Father.~ On the edges of his vision, Dillen can see other dark shapes emerging from the forest.
Dillen growls again, shifting up as well. He looks to his hand, doing his best to not show any pain. "I will not waver." He then throws his head forward to headbutt Kenneth.
The black Crinos staggers back as Dillen headbutts him, but then leaps forward, attacking Dillen with a crazed fervor. The two warriors are locked in battle for several moments, with the Get gaining the upper hand briefly, but it is clear that this mockery of a Garou is stronger. Dillen has no hope in this fight. The black figures begin to crowd in closer, forming a twisted circle around the battle.
Dillen keeps fighting, hard and fast, trying everything he can. "I will not go." He growls out, even in his sleep he speaks the words out loud. A hand slaps the couch as a fist flies against Kenneth's head.
Finally the two Crinos are locked, glaring into each other's eyes. Yet even here it is clear that the twisted Shadow Lord could throw him. ~Then you are a fool, destined to fail and fall.~ As soon as those words are growled out, a bolt of lightning strikes the boulder, the light blinding the Get. When he opens his eyes, he is standing within the Shadow's End.
Dillen looks around, confused. It lasts a moment, long enough to throw him off guard and then he begins to look around the place, seeing what is to be found.
Kenneth stands nearby, still threatening, menacing in the war form. Kevin, too, lounges in one of the chairs, looking over as Dillen appears with a small wave. And when he looks across the room... he sees another familiar black Crinos, wrapped in chains upon chains, teeth bared in a snarl. All three have eyes that glow green.
Dillen runs a hand through his hair. His eyes flash be tween the three. "Kenneth. None of this was your fault. Lucas was not your fault!"
Kevin smiles and swings his feet down to stand. "No, it's not his fault. We all know that. We all know just who has been faltering, who has failed to help, who has sidestepped his punishments." Kenneth and Lucas growl out their agreement, green eyes flashing.
Dillen turns to face Kevin. "What? I did not sidestep anything. I have suffered as well. I told the truth as to what happened. I did not know! Had I known I would have done more, saved him..." His head shakes, "No. I did all I could. There was no saving Lucas."
Lucas gives a dry, crazed laugh at that. ~Exactly, there was no saving me. Just as there is no saving you. Your pack crumbles, your family placed in danger, your Sept dwindling in numbers, soon to be crushed by the darkness that gathers around them. There is no hope where you stand. You can only fail.~
"No. NO!" And with that, Dillen backs away some from these faces of the past. "I will stop you." And with that, he vaults himself in total frenzy at Lucas.
Laughter fills Dillen's ears as he launches at the Shadow Lord. Try as he might, he can neither reach nor hit him. Hands and claws tug at him, darkness fills his vision, laughter and whispers fill his mind. No hope. Failure. Green eyes watch as Dillen struggles, only managing to sink deeper into a black void.
Dillen flails, fighting as best he can, trying to regain some inch above the once that fight him. "No. No." He keeps saying as they come at him. Even lost in the void, Dillen still tries to grasp something to hold onto.
Much as Dillen tries, his grasp keeps slipping, falling deeper and deeper into the void. He hears one last twisted laugh before all is nothingness... And the Get awakes.
