Logfile from GarouMUSH.
Currently the moon is in the waning Gibbous Moon phase (76% full).
It is currently 17:16 Pacific Time on Thu Feb 16 2006.
Currently in Saint Claire, it is mostly sunny today. The temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius). The wind is currently coming in from the northeast at 12 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. The barometric pressure reading is 30.19 and steady, and the relative humidity is 31 percent. The dewpoint is 16 degrees Fahrenheit (-8 degrees Celsius.)
Porch
A lathe-turned wooden railing runs the length of the porch save where the steps are, well-worn with use. To the right of the stairs, a wide swing is suspended from the overhang which shelters this area; to the left, a small table is the centerpiece for several chairs pulled around it, all of which face out to the front yard and the fields and trees beyond. The biting cold of winter is tempered somewhat by the sheltering of the roof, but it is still enough to make the porch an inhospitable place to tarry for long. Even the low shrubs seem to avoid it, their leafless woody stems closed in tight upon themselves.
An aging screen door newly refurbished stands between the heavy inner door of the house and the outside air. Four steps lead down to the lane, a number of pots with small flower seedling carefully arranged alongside them.

Front Door Lane
The lone figure of a woman sits off on the far edge of the porch with her feet dangling over the edge idly as she stares off into the horizon where the sun had sank not long ago. Her expression is generally distant, one might think she were mourning the loss of the daylight in some way.
Yi comes up the lane, feet crunching on gravel to herald her approach. The Gnawer has a black bandanna wrapped around her recently shaved, it seems, head. A hand comes up to adjust it with a pickiness that isn't particularly natural - like she were selfconscious about it. Spotting the woman on the porch, the Gnawer's steps slow to a halt just at the base of stairs. "Hello," she greets the unfamiliar one, eyes being particularly scrutinizing.
Gypsy shifts her gaze and focuses on Yi with a look of enigmatic curiosity. A friendly smile touches her features readily enough. She dips her head slightly. "Hello there." she greets, studying the woman intently while being as subtile about it as possible. Vague satisfaction passes behind her bright eyes after a moment. "I'm Gypsy." she offers then. "Silent Strider...Cliath." she introduces and clarifies without any sign of further hesitation. Her gaze is now expectant, but mild.
Her eyes lift. Yi offers but a small smile as she proceeds up the three low stairs up to the porch. "I am Yi," she elaborates shortly, her accent mulling the intro. "Runs-the-Gauntlet to the Garou, ragabash and fostern of the Bone Gnawers." Despite them being alone together, she keeps her voice low. "I hope you do not make it a habit of greeting everyone you meet here with a 'full' introduction before they offer to step inside?"
Gypsy chuckles quietly at Yi's concern. "No, not everyone. Only the right ones." she tells her, rather matter of factly. "Pleased to meet you, Yi." she adds with another dip of her head before she grips the wooden support post beside her and uses it as leaverage as she pulls herself to her feet. "If you are hungry, there is stew on the back burner in the kitchen." she offers, making a small gesture towards the door.
Yi shakes her head slowly, rubbing at her right leg with a hand for a moment. "I would be silly to run all this way from the city without having eaten first," she replies. After a moment, she looks back at the Strider. "Your name is just Gypsy?"
Gypsy regards her intently, one corner of her lips curling up in a sort of amused smirk as she nods. "Mia Delano, actually. Gypsy is...a bit of a family ordained name. After my rite I was also called Gathers-Foxes." she offers her, looking thoughtful about it. Really Yi has been the first to ask her that, surprisingly.
"Gathers-Foxes," Yi repeats thoughtfully as well, a corner of her lip twitching up. "That is a name I would most like to hear the story of." She takes a few steps closer, closing the gap of polite unfamiliarity now. "And your auspice moon? I guess you are not a newmoon like I am?"
Gypsy nods again, a knowing smile evident as Yi apparently gains enough comfort with her to draw closer. "There is...a story to it. Most will likely find it an odd one at that." she admits with a small laugh. She leans her shoulder against the support post rather casually. "No, I am Philodox." she affirms quietly.
Yi lifts her brows at that, indicating not small amount of surprise. "And I say again, I would like to hear it some time. Such a name is interesting - to me, at least. And... you are joined with the Hidden Walk? Or are you only visiting?" She draws her jacket a bit closer about her, pulling up and sitting upon one of the chairs.
Gypsy nods congenially. "Then you will hear it when you have the time for it." She turns slightly to remain facing Yi as she sits. She follows her inclination to lower herself into a half-crouch to prevent herself from remaining at too high of a level. "I have not joined, but I attended the last moot and requested to find a place among you. I need to find someone to Chiminage to...though I'm not clear on what will be prefered of me." she shrugs her shoulders slightly. "I believe I will be remaining here for quite some time. Best to make myself useful."
Yi follows the Strider down with her eyes. "Have you visited many other septs in the past?" she asks curiously. "Maybe the chiminage you gave to them can be similar here." She taps her chin, thinking. "Seeker has not been seen in a long time. Everyone thinks he abandoned his duties as Warder." Here, the Gnawer frowns a lot. "But it was foolish to think a Strider would remain tied anywhere... unless there was good reason." She softens in tone, adding, "A reason close to heart." Her gaze drops down for a few moments.
Gypsy eases her back against the post as her expression softens to something consistently relaxed. "It's true, we have the tendency to wander." she admits, studying Yi with quiet and curious regard. "I wandered a fair ways to get here, myself. But I wouldn't mind being given a reason...and a purpose for staying." she tells her with genuine sincerity in her tone. "To be honest, I've belonged to no other Sept." she pauses hesitantly before confiding. "Where I was...I didn't even have a pack. I was trained by my Aunt and she put me through the Rite of Passage herself. I'd met precious few Garou until I came here."
Yi glances up again, a hand once more adjusting the black bandanna wrapped around her head. "Maybe you can offer to teach others what you know. Others have done that before. A Gift, maybe? Or a Rite?" The Gnawer fostern sits on a chair beside the small central table on the porch, sharing conversation with the Strider.
Gypsy is crouched a ways in front of Yi with her back resting against one of the supporting posts of the porch as she converses. She nods slowly. "I've been told that... Lately I've felt vaguely useful to be checking some of the newest Kin for taint." she remarks, recalling the Silver Fang kin she had thought Vera intended to gut upon his arrival... "I would not mind teaching cubs." she adds. "My aunt was always quite sure that I would do well with that."
The front door opens with its usual creak of long-time use and consternation at being such a frequent portal. Poking her pale head outside, Masao blinks a little owlishly and brightens at seeing at least one familiar face. "Oh! Hey, Yi. 'M not interruptin' nothin', am I? Heard voices, got all pokey." the girl asks with a polite inquisitiveness, glancing to the other half of the conversation with a smile that is at least outwardly friendly.
Yi puts a finger up to chin again, about to reply before Masao pokes out. The fostern smiles warmly towards her tribemate, waving her into the conversation (and cold weather... but that's what jackets are for). "Not at all. Have you met Gypsy?" She now glances between the two, before returning to the line of conversation from before. "I do not know of any halfmoon cubs or Strider cubs to be taught... but maybe there is something else you can teach. Have you spoken to the Sept Alpha about it?"
Gypsy casts the newcomer a mild, inquizative gaze as she move out onto the porch with them. She nods to the tiny girl in greeting, offering a small wave. "I haven't had the pleasure." she smiles faintly before glancing back at Yi. She now appears almost uncomfortable. "Yes...I suppose I should go to her about it. I'm just waiting for...better timing. I brought a Kin to her the other night who put her in quite a foul mood. And so I'm waiting a bit for that to settle down." She explains, her accent placing a lot of emphasis on her vowels.
"I haven't, but no time like th' present an' all." Masao replies, shutting the door behind her with a slight grimace for its complaints and returning the wave with a wiggle of fingers. "Name's Masao, Bone Gnawer Ragabash, Cliath, short end of the stick." she offers, after letting the unfamiliar woman speak.
"Also known as Leaves-None-Behind," Yi adds in to fill a certain blank, giving the younger ragabash a moment's glance. "The other night? You brought kin to the farm near the full moon?" She looks back to the Strider now, brows lifting again. "Whose Kin?"
Gypsy gives Masao an acknowledging nod in response to her introduction, continuing to answer Yi. She smirks faintly. "Yes...I would have prefered a better time...but he was quite insistent." she knits her brow slightly in thought. "His name was Cristofer...Dracomir." she recalls, pronouncing the name with full european flavor. "I found him in town and he asked to be taken to the Silver Fangs. None were readily available, and so he wanted to see the Alpha. Apparently...he's not all Silver Fang..." she observes out loud. "I don't know how he introduced himself exactly, it was all in Russian." she shrugs slightly.
Masao looks absolutely brainless for a moment and bonks the palm of one hand against her forehead expressively. "Duh. I'm not havin' a bright night, don't mind me." she mutters, drawing closer to the pair before bonelessly dropping down to sit cross-legged on the porch. She tilts her head slightly at Gypsy and looks even more curious, mouthing the last name of the mentioned kin slowly.
Yi tilts her head. "Was he searching for a particular Silver Fang?" she inquires, looking much like she'd like to practice that name too, complete with accent, but refrains. "How... how did he know you were Strider, and you his breeding?"
Gypsy glances at Masao and chuckles lightly at her as she seats herself nearby. Hey this isn't so bad...sitting around with a couple of other girls and chatting. Not something Gypsy is really used to, but she seems to be enjoying it in her own way all the same. She glances to Yi again. "He didn't know who or what I was at first, I found him in a deli and knew his smell...he was soaking in pure breed. Did a bit of chatting and beating around the bush...he drew the symbol for kin on his sandwich in time for me to catch it...I got him someplace I could get his story and he asked me to take him to the Silver Fang elder to properly introduce himself." she weaves the most important facts together to give them a better picture. "He mentioned at one point that his origins were somewhat...debatable. He just dodn't elaborate on that." she appears slightly annoyed for a split second, then shrugs again.
Yi slowly nods, taking the explanation in. She looks slightly relieved to hear it, but at the same time not quite pleased. Perhaps the moon goads her patience just a little. "We have a lot of Falcon's children coming in from many places, it seems," she observes quietly. "Well, that should not be anything /we/ need worry about, much." She passing a knowing glance towards Masao again, before sitting up a little straighter. "Does he have a place to stay now? Or is he... inside?" That thought begets a slightly worried look.
Masao huhs softly and listens intently, folding her hands in her lap loosely. At the question of inside, she glances over her shoulder slightly at the door and blinks a few times. "Would that be safe?"
Gypsy shakes her head. "He is...here on business, so he stays in a hotel for now downtown. He has been looming about the last two days, but he's quite...skittish about the farm. And rightly so." she glances at the door. She doesn't -think- he's in there anymore. "If he does decide to stay I'll find a place for him, or he can stay at my apartment in town until he gets his barings. He's perfectly tollerable." she offers.
Yi shows curious interest in this news, wetting her lips. "Which part of town? Maybe we can meet in the city some time." Moving a foot, she nudges Masao. "And you. Have you seen Christine around, lately?"
Masao shakes her head and tucks a bit of hair behind one ear, "Not of late, no...anythin' in particular up?" The younger Ragabash perks up at the direct question, despite not having a positive answer.
Gypsy nods "I'm in the middle of some decent coffee shops on East Bridge Street." she offers. "Colonial Grand Complex...doesn't look like much on the outside, but they aren't bad. Just buzz in to apartment seven and I'll let you in if I'm there." she offers, glancing between them to make sure they both understand the offer.
Yi nods twice, acknowledging answers from both and providing her own for Masao. "Oh, I was just wondering if she received my message. I know my English is... not as good as one born here." She smiles half-embarrassedly. "But more importantly, Circle Keeper asked a favor of the Bone Gnawers." She shrugs lightly, showing her lack of concern about the asking party. Then she looks back to Gypsy. "East Bridge Street? I live nearby, then, and know the area well. I should be able to visit some time."
"I kinda go everywhere, but I know where that is, yeah. I'll keep it in th' back a' my head for later." Masao says, nodding with a smile to Gypsy before her attention slides back to Yi. "Favor? What sorta favor?"
Gypsy nods in approval, smiling. "You are both quite welcome at any time. If I'm going to have a free apartment I might as well use it, hmm?" She begins to stand slowly, stretching out her muscles as she does so. "I ought to check up on that Kin, now that I think of it..." she mutters, moreso to herself.
"Circle Keeper's favor?" Yi looks sidelong at her tribemate. "I was not very clear on his request, but it is to help his kin, I think. He needs one of us who can cook a good meal, from almost anything." The fostern then looks more full on at the ragabash, smiles in a fox-like manner, and stands up. "Saying that," she utters while stretching up and out, "I should find Circle Keeper. I have a few things I need to ask of him."
Masao ohhhs expansively at the fostern Gnawer and grins impishly in return. "I see. I'm goin' t' be round the house for a bit if ya need me or som'thin." To Gypsy, she bobs her head again and smiles sunnily. "'Preciate the offer. Most kind of ya."
Gypsy dips her head respectfully to both of them as she turns to take her leave. "Pleased to have met you both." she remarks, with sincerity. "I am a pretty able cook, if you ever happen to need the service." she adds after processing Yi's comments. "I don't mind assisting you." She steps lightly down off the porch then and heads off around the side of the house.
Yi lifts a hand at the departing Strider, silently noting her offer with a nod. Once Gypsy is a bit further out, the fostern gives a quick chuckle, turning to Masao with a glance that seems to pass an in-joke between them, and she too heads down the steps. "Take care of the farmhouse now. Kaz needs all the help she can get." The elder ragabash does a sort of mock salute, before trotting off also bawnwards, but in a different direction.
Masao wrinkles her nose amusedly and waves after both departing Garou, giving Yi a quick reply, "It'll still be standin' when ya come back through. No prob." Stretching a little, the girl leans back against the side of the house and gazes out past the porch's edge vaguely.
