Harbor Park -- The Meadow(#194RJ)
One of the last bastions of green left in the city, mottled and withered grass and weeds covers the earth like a badly stained carpet, with the construction work turning what is left into just bare dirt. The vegetation seems marginally healthier the further it is from the river and much healthier towards the central area of the park around the fountain. Construction work is ongoing here: a raised earthen berm about five feet tall is being built all around the park perimeter, with two breaks each at the Bridge Street entrance and the First Street end. Wooden posts are being erected at regular intervals all along the earthen wall, while tasteful iron gates and fences are being added at the entrances. Overpowering the scent of living vegetation are the exhaust fumes from a busy street to the west and an unpleasant stench from the Columbia River to the east. From the street view or river view, the park is now isolated, as if it existed apart from the city. People in tall buildings have an excellent view of any goings-ons for now, though. In the center of the park, a small glade of six tall trees and a flower bed surrounds the fountain.
The murky waters of the Columbia River flow swiftly along the east side of the park. Bracketing the park to the west is First Street and the city of St. Claire.

It's Friday night, and that's when the weirdoes are out. It's past sunset, and that's when the Garou come out. And it's the city, so that's where the Bone Gnawers come out. Yi crouches down to pick up a piece of errant crumpled paper, making rounds in the city's small bastion of choked greens. The ragabash's head is tied with a black bandanna, covered over with a baseball cap, and showing recent signs of slowly regrowing hair. She hums lightly to herself, straightening up and looking around for the trashcan.
The Gnawer is not the only baseball cap-clad girl out and about tonight. Emma, donning her faded Red Sox hat, is just entering the park, hands in pockets and gait more or less casual. Her gaze keeps a gentle scan going around her, and so she catches sight of the other. Immediate recognition doesn't happen, and so the Ahroun meanders in the others general direction.
Yi also looks in the direction of the girl, seeing her as one of the few occupants in the park area. Though she makes no immediate greeting and goes back to picking up some litter, Yi shows some added interest as the girl is wandering in her direction. The Gnawer's humming continues as well, and she takes a moment to pick up an aluminum soda can. This small find no doubt pleases her. She gives the can a bit longer look than most people would regard a piece of trash.
Emma gets a little closer before she calls out a casual, "Evening," to the other. A hand slips from her pocket now to pull her zipper up a little higher, "Kinda chilly."
Yi looks up from the can, finding the voice. "Ah, good evening," she replies in kind politely. The can is held beside her leg for now. "A good night to imagine being a dragon in." The ragabash puffs out a few breaths for show. "How are you doing?"
Emma lets out a short laugh, and smiles now that she hears Yi's voice. "I see the steam, but no fire." The Get moves closer then, giving a faint nod. "Holding up okay. Keeping busy. You?"
Yi shrugs lightly, but keeps a smile going. "Keeping watch on the park. Friday night is a time to be watchful," she comments, gesturing around vaguely. Then, her tone drops a little bit in volume. "And your packmates?"
Emma grins a little, "Mending." She shakes her head lightly, "I guess that comes with the territory for our kind of group, but still." Her head bobs down to the can, "Picking up after the slobs?"
"Mending?" Yi repeats, brows lifting. It's only a curious question, as she nods slightly. "Well," she says whilst looking around again, "better than looking for slobs and finding fomori." The last word is said almost at a whisper, and cut through with a low curse. "You were at the moot, yes? So you heard then, I would be forming a city pack myself?"
Emma nods her head. "I did. Do you have territory in mind?" She eyes the darkness of the park against the lights of the city and the small lantern like streetlights. "In school we would play capture the flag, and it always worked that the best defense was a strong offense. I think it'll be good to have active numbers out here."
Yi smiles a bit. "For the spirit I have in mind, the whole world has no limits. But for the pack, our concentration will be here," she indicates the park. "And towards where the hospital was, and down to the river." Northwards, she points, then swinging her hand a little east to encompass the Columbia and the bridge that connects towards Bridge Street. "Emma..." she starts to say, looking back to the young Get, "the west side of the city, I leave to you and Havoc. But there is no doubt that when it is time to bring the war to the Wyrm here, we will need Wolverine's strength."
Emma nods her head, "You have our claws whenever you need them Yi. I had asked Tu to keep me in the loop of anything strange or needing looking into it. I think it would be smart of us to keep all the city packs informed." A more careful look at the Gnawer is taken, and she nods seriously. "Same with Dillen and his pack."
"It is easy to say," Yi sighs after, coughing a small half-hearted laugh, "but not anything easy to do. Have you heard or seen anything about the Crawler? I heard that it moved north of here. Once the hospital was gone, it looked for a new source to find power. I was told, it had been weak. Weak enough that we could even try to destroy it. But now it might be gaining strength again."
Emma shakes her head, "I haven't. Honestly, Havoc... was left to simmer on a cold stove for a while. We- we just wandered." The Get looks horribly regretful of this admission, shaking her head again. "I'd be glad to know what you can share, and help out however."
Yi glances around some more, not directly looking to the ahroun but rather constantly on the alert of the surroundings. The fostern takes the admission and regret in stride, only deeming to poke a little bit at the Get with an understanding smile. "Well then, Alpha of Havoc. What are your plans to bring your pack great Glory and much bloodshed? I hear the Revel went well, though there were some... problems?"
Emma lifts a shoulder, gritting her teeth briefly. "There was a point where one of the pack disobeyed my call. And another trailed after the first. They put the pack at risk with their actions, but we made it back whole anyway." A snort of breath comes from the Ahroun as she inadvertantly becomes her own dragon. "As for Havoc, I thought I'd get them in line first, ya know. Get some of my award winning charm and self control to rub off on them. Then do a little ass kicking." She grins much wider at this.
"The last thing I remember, 'charm' and 'self control' were not part of Wolverine's vocabulary," Yi says thoughtfully, eyeing the Get sidelong, but with a newmoon's smirk. "Maybe I can convince you to tell your packmates about the tire yard." That little smirk wanes just a tad. "It /does/ need taking care of. Moreso, I believe, than the bane from the failed Great Hunt at this time."
Emma nods her head, "How many will it take do you think? Do we need to co- uh, shit, what's the word. Collaberate?" She hehs softly, adjusting her cap. "Woulda got to that one in my junior year I bet. -But yeah, how many?"
Yi in turn, puts a hand up to her head and rubs at the left side of the cap on her head. "As many as we can get - but more importantly, spirit help. Those are elementals out there. Fire ones. And the smoke is unfriendly too. We will need spirit help." The repetition emphasizes her conviction. "And, some way to attack without getting burned, if that were possible. It would take a mighty spirit, though. Better if we can hit them and they cannot hit back." She looks back fully to the ahroun. "You know in China and the jungles... there is a fish. It takes the very water it lives in, and spits it at its prey, knocking its food down into the water where it can eat."
Emma gives the Gnawer a nod. "I don't like fights that I can't attack in." She gives a soft grunt of annoyance at this, then looks up. "Maybe we should try to get that fish over here."
Yi laughs out loud from that reply, shaking her head from side to side. "No, no that was not what I had meant, Emma," she explains after a moment to catch her chilled breath. Her voice dims in volume again, but the smile on the no-moon's face has returned. "What I meant was... well, consider who you can find who is good with spirits. Tell them we will need a way to combat the fire and keep out the smoke and heat from our lungs. Tell them what I said, about the fish. The seers should be able to think of a way."
Emma nods her head, "I am plum out of seers in Havoc." She grunts again, "But I can ask Gunnar to put some thought into it." She grins, "And I was being a smart ass about the fish.. geez." She rolls her eyes, looking playfully put out over the teasing.
Yi nods once, though her eyes shine. "Of course you were," she agrees readily - maybe too readily. "I look forward, then, to what you can find. In the mean time... who is in your pack, now, anyway?"
Emma purses her lips, scowling a little and gauging the other to see if she is really agreeing. "It's me, KL, and Grey. Clemency, if Wolverine approves. I'm also trying to convince Laura."
Yi is all agreement, all ease. Really. Grey's name first gets her more interested, if distant, attention. But there is a peculiar interest when Clemency is named. "Clemency?" She considers, thinking it over. "Well... she /is/ a fullmoon. And Laura, she is truly worth having. You would need her... as a healer." The ragabash looks pensive for awhile longer, before it all clicks off easy as a light switch. "Anyway! I think you will be fine." The can in her hand is tossed up and resnatched in the air. "I should finish my collecting, to be ready for the recycling tomorrow morning. Are you going to stay here awhile longer?"
Emma nods her head, "Yeah, I'll be here for a bit. Take care Yi, it was good catching up with you."
