Burial Mounds(#3207RJ$)
This wide clearing in the midst of short, dark pines is rough with wild grass and bare stone. The air is a bit cooler up here in the foothills than below, and the majestic peaks of the nearby mountains rear up over the eastern treetops. There is a vine-covered boulder standing under the edge of the somber evergreens to the east. The air here is prenaturally still and the grass waves not at all for there is no breeze that blows through the pines. It is silent, no call of bird thrown from the treetops to dance gaily in the open spaces. Occasionally chill fingers run up your spine.
There are +views here.
A faint path leading downhill to the west is the only exit from the clearing.

The clouds have broken since last night, and light pours down onto the bawn giving it a near spring like warmth. The steady winds causes the pines over head to sway, creaking as they move, and the rotten leaves blow along the ground. Yet near the burial grounds, the sun doesn't seem so bright, and the wind suddenly seems to find its way everywhere but here. Circle Keeper is half sitting in lupus, sphinx like as he silently pants. His attention seems nowhere in particular, like he's staring blankly at the mounds in patient expectation for something to happen.
Yi happens. The Gnawer ragabash trots her way into the area, first in lupus, but eventually traveling through her forms up and down into her breed. She looks to and fro, from each carved stone to another, but she's headed for a particular one like she has done many a time. Each step takes her closer, 'til she picks out the white wolf amongst the quiet backdrop. "Circle Keeper?" she queries aloud, surprised in part to see him here.
Circle Keeper doesn't seem to realize the gnawer is there until she breaks the silence of the place. He blinks repeatedly, shoving his front end up a little further as he seeks out the source of the noise. He gives Three-Blades a silent greeting, picking himself up slightly.
Yi cocks her head, regarding the ahroun at a distance, for a few seconds leaving the silence to seep back into the area. "I am sorry. I did not mean to disturb your meditation," she notes with quiet apology. She then clears her throat lightly, and keeps on towards one of the stones. One of the newest of those there, not quite as weathered as the rest.
Circle Keeper stands, giving his girth a light shake to get the clingons off, as if afraid to move any more violently in the place. This one has completed his challenge and is Fostern, he declares 'quietly', but none the less incredibly proud. Moving with a stiff, tense gait, he makes his way closer to the Gnawer.
Yi turns her head as the ahroun approaches. She blinks a couple of times after his declaration, looking at him quite blankly to begin with, and then evolving towards an understanding. It isn't any significant change of expression, but something in her eyes tells of her recognition of the change in him. An barely perceptible nod and dip of her eyes is given. "I will hear about it at the moot."
Circle Keeper gives Yi a fleeting quizzical look, but he banishes whatever question was plaguing his mind without asking the Gnawer. If this one leaves Three-Blade's gift by the stinky wyrmcomer ape place for cubs, will she find it? he querries.
"Hm? Oh, you mean the farmhouse," Yi parses, given a moment to place in context. "The gift.. ah, yes I can find it. I have not brought you what I wished to have them made out of yet, though. I can bring them tonight?"
Circle Keeper's question remains, and this time the Uktena doesn't dismiss it. Tilting his head to one side, his voice raises in a wordless question to the Bone Gnawer.
Yi blinks a couple more times, and then shakes her head. Then she dumbs down, "I will bring you the teeth from a Skull Pig, to make into a knife. And you can leave it at the farmhouse when you are finished with it." She pauses, looking hopefully at the ahroun, and not without a bit of doubt in his comprehension.
Circle Keeper looks at Yi with that 'she's insane' look that Yi seems to get from him so often lately. This one has already made gifts for Three-Blades. he states bluntly. She asks him for weapon things, so he made weapon things.
Yi opens her mouth as if to say something again, and then she stops before another utterance comes out. There's a long silence that passes with just the wind swirling by, before she closes her eyes and nods in understanding. "Ok," she accepts, a short smile rolling past her expression like a tumbleweed. "Ok. Then, leave them at the farmhouse. Or, if you want, I can go with you to pick them up instead. Save you a trip."
Circle Keeper indicates terse understanding, and silently declines the offer. Sniffing a few times, he moves forward, ducking his head down to sniff at the ground. He seems to be limping slightly, despite no visible injury. Three-Blades wants to hire him to make cutting thing out of skull pig tusk? he asks.
"Ahhh... yes," Yi decides after a moment's contemplation. "Well, that was what I originally intended for a gift as well... but that does not matter now." She looks to the ahroun a bit intently. "If you would, though. I took them from a Skull Pig, in case something good could be made out of them. Something useful."
Circle Keeper blinks, and peers yet again. Again, a brief shake partially dislodges the thought, but there's still some trepidation. This one will do what Three-Blades asks... he decides slowly. If Three Blades teaches his packmate a new ragabash thing. Show Untangler how to be even more sneaky.
Yi lifts her brows. "Horace? I have not seen him around for a long time. He must be very sneaky already," she notes with a thought and a foxish, teasingly wry smile. But then she nods. "Ok. If I teach him something, you will make those knives?"
Circle Keeper gives an affirmative. Show Untangler some of scout-moon gifts to be sneaky, and this one will make cutting things from skull pig for Three-Blades. he agrees.
Yi nods twice - once for the first part of the bargain, again for the second. "One question... and this one I hope is free," she says after another pause. "Why is it you call me Three-Blades, and not by my fostern name?"
Circle Keeper sniffs passivly, before backing a few steps up uneasily; the limp seems to have him off, and the tension from the full moon isn't helping Three Blades is good name. the Uktena insists. Not broken; Three Blades is still Three Blades.
Yi ponders on the response, looking curiously at the fullmoon, but eventually relents and nods slowly. Her eyes turn back to the stone, and gaze upon it. "You are right, maybe. Three-Blades is a good name." She holds her scanning eyes upon a particular glyph, and then looks back to the ahroun. "Are you going to be ok, on that leg?"
Circle Keeper's responce looks almost offended, giving a sharp 'yes' to her question. This one is still strong warrior. Kills more fomor things on bawn after challenge. They try to hit him with tree cutting things, but he kills them all.
Yi symbolically backs off with a light shrug of her shoulder. "I do not doubt you can still take many more victories against the Wyrm. Even more now, with powerful help from the spirits." She gives pause for a brief second as it dawns. "Fomor? On the bawn?"
Circle Keeper gives an affirmative. Yes! Fomor come to try and cut down trees. He kills them all. he responds, clearly pleased with himself. They have not send more to cut more trees.
Yi tenses and frowns slightly. "And the trees? Are they ok?" she inquires after another second.
Circle Keeper's hackles raise slightly, pleasure evaporating like a puddle of water under the hot July sun. Some trees die, he states irate. Most small. One big. He lets out an angry huff, lip rolling up.
Yi furrows her brow, her muscles along her shoulder not relaxing either. Slowly though, she nods once more and turns back to the stone. "From where they fell, hope that many will grow." She utters some words in her native tongue in a prayer.
Circle Keeper gives his silent agreement, taking a limping step away from the nearest grave marker. Waiting a moment, he asks the Ragabash if she has seen Torn To Rags?
Yi catches the question from the side of her eye, and nods in affirmation. "I have."
Circle Keeper licking his muzzle, he asks if she has seen him since the last moot?
Yi nods again, turning again to look at the ahroun. "I have. He came to the Odeon, not long ago."
If Three Blades sees or smells Torn to Rags, will she tell him that this one is now Fostern and Uktena elder? he wonders openly.
Yi blinks twice more, and smiles a little again. "I will," she replies easily. "I most certainly will."
Circle Keeper seems satisfied with her response, and settles his behind back earthward. He will not distract Three Blades from dead people place anymore, he offers as he licks his teeth.
An appreciatively soft smile is directed to the Uktena, and then saying no more, Yi turns back to the stones and slowly lowers her head. Barring other distractions, she engages in quiet regard of the glyphs before her.
Circle Keeper picks himself up after a moment, and quietly leaves the burial mounds for the south.
