The barometric pressure reading is 30.23 and rising, and the relative humidity is 82 percent. The dewpoint is 36 degrees Fahrenheit (2 degrees Celsius.)

At the Rock Outcropping
The rocky wall of the caern flattens out here, a more stable and solid area than around the steam vents or even the caern's center. A small outcropping juts out slightly over the caern, forming a natural dais from which to address the gathered. The stone bears chips and faint stains from past abuses that can't quite be rectified. Scrub grass and mosses eke out an frail existence on this otherwise inhospitable terrain.
The forest surrounding the caern's border is far less dense than the rest of the nearby forest. Scattered, centuries-old oaks stand majestically over their fallen, decaying, moss-covered comrades. This peculiarity seems to surround only the area just outside the caern.
The caern circles away from the walls east, towards the swirling area, and south, towards the steam vents; the center is southeast of here. A dangerously slippery, muddy trail winds up towards the rim of the caern from here. One false step could result in tragedy.

Reflection stands near the edge of the promonitory outcropping, looking out over the quiet yet powerful Caern. So many times defiled, and cleansed. Taken and reclaimed. Perhaps James is just lucky that no such problem has taken place during his watch, or perhaps there is something to do with the Warder's skill in that.

And lo, one approaches who could testify to that in some extent. Runs-the-Gauntlet makes her way into the caern after some time away, today sans the usual chain jangling that sometimes accompanies her neck. No, today it's all natural lupus day, and it is up towards the large outcropping where some might say the best lookout point to get the entire view of the caern is. However, it's already occupied by the Get Warder. That doesn't stop Yi. The Gnawer chuffs her greeting from afar and behind him, adding a single, softly whining note of query. Hopefully she didn't disturb his meditations.

Reflection looks heavily over his shoulder at the approaching Gnawer and a dipping of his head offers respect to fellow Fostern. ~Runner-yuf.~ He growls unevenly from Lupine throat and turns fully to her, raising to the homid form with a well practiced speed, "Good to see you have returned."

And showing little fear, but no small amount of respect for the Warder and his position, Runner replies in kind with a lowered dip of her head, a brief flick back of her ears. Her approach is accompanied with a rise up to her own breed form, though the ragabash shivers a little with the change. "It's still cold out here," she says with a small grin. "It's good to see you too."

Jamethon either doesn't care about the cold, or just refuses to let it show if he does. "Aye," A grin touches his lips and he nods his head again, "Find what you needed to out there?" He jerks his head in a general 'out there' type gesture.

"More than enough," Yi replies with a long blow out of breath and patting down her jacket sleeves. "What about everything here? I was glad to see the trees still standing," she says with an indication of the massive oaks.

Jamethon nods his head at the trees and then sighs, "It is not easy to keep this place from encroachment by greedy humans. I feel not enough is being done and I know little of what to do to prevent it. I could use a more apt mind when it comes to such things out here." With that he looks out over the Caern, "I'll not lose her. Death to a hundred thousand and one before she is lost."

Yi's smile fades somewhat with the sigh, replaced by a curious slant of her head at the Warder. "What brings this feeling? News that people are spreading out more and more from the city?" She takes a couple of steps closer, hands slipping into her pockets to keep warm. "Every one of us here would defend her to our dying breath. From tall Silver Fang full of pride to low Bone Gnawer hiding in shadow." She gazes back out over the landscape.

Jamethon gives a laugh at this and shakes his head, "This I know. And I also know that the Bone Gnawers of the Hidden Walk can claim much to be prideful of. They have done much while those who hold themselves prideful have watched." He looks now again at Yi with a more measuring and thoughtful gaze, "You in particular have shown honor, glory, and wisdom beyond your callings." He grins a little more openly now and offers, "With a set back here and there, but hell... who doesn't have a small list of those on their resume?" Now the thoughtful look fades and James shifts his weight to stand a bit taller, more sure, his expression a determined one, "What would it take to get you to stay out here on the Bawn, packed as a Guardian for a time?"

Oh yes, the set backs. Yi withers a little bit underneath the gaze, though she notices the Warder looking at her. Her eyes avert in a submissive turn. But his words bring her eyes back up, and her expression tints with a furrowed brow. "You want I should join Ridgeline?" she jumps in conclusion, poking the option.

Jamethon looks at Yi suddenly in a quizical fashion. That remains for a moment as the gears visibly turn in his head and he bursts into laughter just a moment later. "No! Oh dear gaia, no." The Warder takes a moment to regain his composure. "Oh, oh no. Myself and Ayita of the Uktena seek to create a Guardian pack, under Uktena. A pack that will defeat any threat to the Hidden Walk be it in Umbra or Realm. You would be a welcome asset."

And for that moment before the Warder's outburst, Yi and James look at each other both quizzically. Seeing the Warder laugh at her expense of course, does push away that oddity before the ragabash ends up screwing her lips up in a mock pout of indignance. She waits until the Get has his wits about him again before clearing her throat lightly. "It was long ago since I packed under such a totem of Wisdom," she muses softly. "But myself? A Guardian? You have not forgotten my recent 'set back' of carrying the Jackal's Voice, have you? After what I did..." She gulps thinly.

Jamethon grimaces as she mentions her own misdeeds, "It is with honorable intention you recall your own slights and failings, Gnawer. After what you have done, you have suffered and been punished. You have been great too, Yi. I do not make offers to guard this Caern lightly. I would expect nothing but your sharpest claws, and your greatest wisdom in my guiding the claws of the Pack. Besides, we live too easily in catch 22s." He sighs, "I have sinned, so I am not worthy of stepping above that sin. Fuck that. Rise above your failure and remind people that you are Fostern among Garou. A wise warrior who will not die save for bringing low the Wyrm itself. I've seen you fight, Runs-The-Gauntlet. I know there is some Fenris in you."

Ducking her head, Yi wets her lips under a small amount of tension brought on by such self-reminders. On those ending turns of phrase though, she slowly looks back up. "A Fenris wolf, that I do not know, but Rat's teeth are always sharp. Always growing. Sometimes, it needs something hard to gnaw on." That small, characteristic half-smile returns on her face. "With such high praise coming from the Warder himself, how could I refuse such an invitation?"

Jamethon gives a grunt and a shrug. "I don't know." He then turns back to look over the Caern once more, "But for gaia's sake, don't spend too much time thinking of a way and just agree to join."

Finally, a laugh jumps out of Yi - one that sounded like she'd been holding in. "For Gaia's sake, then, I think this can be done. A Bone Gnawer in the woods, guarding the woods instead of the city... it can be done. It has been done, as we both know from our past." Looking out over the caern as well, she takes a deep breath of the clear air. "The other one, Ayita. She is ok with this?"

Jamethon doesn't look back to Yi but does nod to her words. At the question he offers, "She will be, if she is not. She understands what this pack means. Young Cricket has a history of doing what she believes is best for Gaia."

Yi takes a long moment to recompose her thoughts, eyes roaming from the caern's landscape to the Warder's back to the rock beneath her feet. "One can only hope to always be so strong," she comments with a small admiration, gradually looking back up to the Warder again. "I think, then, I should find myself back in the city tonight for a few words with family."

Jamethon nods once more to this, not needing to say much else. After a moment of pause he offers, "Run well. I expect to hear back from you again, soon."

Yi says nothing else, instead dipping her head again with a quick bow of her body. Turning quickly, she slips back through the forms and takes off as a lupus once again heading back towards the city with the news.
