Safehouse: Common Area(#2947RAJ)
The foyer of this house is set off from the living room with its octagonal bump-out by a four foot high halfwall. Stairs lead up from the foyer, turning and disappearing to the right, and a wooden door with a keycard lock claims the wall opposite the living room. The rest of the main floor is taken up by a small bathroom across the hallway from a dining room which is separated from the kitchen at the back of the house by another half-wall. The decor is decidedly sparse - white walls, beige carpeting in the living and dining rooms and down the hall, unremarkable vinyl in the foyer and kitchen.
A used couch and a pair of recliners are grouped around a coffee table in the living room, with a foursome of wooden chairs claiming the bump out for quieter conversation. The dining room boasts a white laminate table with four aluminum and vinyl-upholstered chairs - too new to be 'vintage', too old to be trendy. The appliances and cupboards in the kitchen are new - or at least refurbished to look like it - and a door leads out to the backyard from there.
Up the stairs are a number of empty rooms where anyone affiliated with the Sept can crash and an office for private meetings. The Glass Walkers have their own area accessible via a locked door off the foyer. The main doors themselves lead back out to the front porch of the house.

Underneath the pseudo-cover of darkness, Yi arrives at the safehouse fairly late in the night. In fact, the clock's just striking midnight when the doorbell is rung. Yi's easily seen on the closed circuit cameras, were one to look, and she waits patiently for an answer to her latenight hail.

Sean snaps to attention and grabs up the remote to hit pause on the late night movie he's watching. But Wait, it's on TV, there is no pausing. He looks for a Tivo remote for half a second before giving up, he can't just ignore the door forever. "The house that never sleeps..." He mutters as he slides over to the door on sock insulated feet. He unlocks the door and pulls it open. "Yes?"

[look Sean (homid)]
This boy, evident as youth by his stature and smooth skin, seems lost in his own world. His short, tousled black hair curls against his forehead and the tops of his ears, stark black in contrast with his pale freckled skin and blue eyes, though they all share the same quality of softness. His facial features are slight and subtle, rounded and smooth. His eyes are bright with intelligence, but distant, often crossed with a pensive, far-off gaze. He wears a white long sleeved shirt with black cuffs, collar, and trim, fitted, sleeves rolled up neatly past his elbows, well fitting khaki pants, and high top black converse. A chain hangs loosely around his neck holding a silver colored, heart-shaped pendant. His body is thin framed and light, slightly athletic, and he stands at 5'7" tall.

Yi has to look up to meet Sean's eyes, but she does so with a temporarily silent regard of him. Up and down, her gaze travels quickly. Less than a second's beat skips before she dips her head in greeting. "Good evening. Is Basil in? Or Tu?"

Sean seems pleasantly surprised by the guest, used to large scary men dropping in unannounced at all hours. He draws a blank for for half a moment as he stares, then gains a smile and opens the door further. "Oh, yeah, Basil's here. I think Tu's gone, but he might be here. Hi." He thrusts out his hand. "I'm Sean."

Yi glances down at the hand, and then takes it with a firm, brief shake for a woman her size and appearance. She does look like she's traveled a ways to come here. "And I am Yi. A pleasure to meet you," she replies, a brow arching up in small humor. Through the opened door she strides, taking it as an invitation inside. "I'm sorry for visiting this late," she says nonetheless, taking only two paces in before turning and seemingly waiting for the cub to close up behind her.

Sean 's handshake is practically limp, he wasn't expecting that. He closes the door and locks it. "Yeah, that's okay, I was already up. Watching a horror movie. It's not bad. He slowly steps over to her from the door. "What do you need to see Basil about? Or... Tu?"

"Different things," Yi replies once the door's been closed, her hand waving in a vague gestural circle. "You are new here, Sean?" It is through her tone that she means to imply more than just an innocent question. Her pitch pokes forward, investigatively.

Sean doesn't feel interrogated by the question, he's more offended when come over and ignore him like new people are no big deal. "Yeah I'm new. Definitely new... to everything." He puts emphasis on everything to add a little meaning to the word.

Basil walks up from the basement without much noise save for a soft and steady thud from a pair of boots. The Gnawer's clad in a pair of low set jeans and nothing else, having chosen to go topless yet again. His posture is obviously less relaxed than usual and his face bares an expression of faint annoyance, and he doesn't notice the two just yet ( or doesn't care to ). Instead he starts to rummage around in the fridge, digging through bottles and tupperware.

Yi ahs in her reply, answering the comment with a nod of understanding. Maybe a bit imperceptibly, her shoulders loosen a touch from the tension they were holding. "Well, then let me welcome you as well. There is very much to learn, I know. As a start, Basil is like... my brother. We are of the same tribe." She slips that little piece of vocabulary in, blinking and glancing back when Basil enters. It's clear she recognizes him, but the ahroun receives no verbal greeting as of yet.

Sean smiles and nods, scratching the back of his head. "Yeah... I guess I'm pretty close with Basil too." He hears the boots and glances bover his shoulder, startled by the "speak of the devil" style appearance. "Oh hey Basil, you are missing a great movie. And umm," Sean glances back to her for a quick refresher for his memory, "Yi. Yi is here."

"I've already seen a lot of movies. I only really feel like watching them when the moon is low.. Or at least, half." Basil hikes his jeans up a little bit and pulls out a half drained bottle of peppermint schnapps from the fridge and a large taco bell bag. In short order the contents of the bag are wrapped up in tinfoil and thrown in the oven, and the Gnawer is taking a large pull from his sweet liquor. "So I hear you forgive me now, or something like that?" Basil asks, looking over at Yi as he licks the schnapps from his lips.

Still as short as ever at a diminutive stature of five feet, six inches tall, Basil's a growing boy who's appearance has changed yet again. The short blonde boy's hair seems to have been styled by sticking his head into a fan, the spiky mish mash of hair flying in all directions. Three jagged marks run from just above his right eyebrow down across one blue eye, ending in the center of his cheek. It mars what's otherwise an angular and pretty, handsome face. His blue eyes however are covered by a pair of yellow tinted, black framed circular sunglasses. On his chest he wears a loose black shirt with a red anarchy symbol in the center, and an old black leather jacket that's a bit too big for him. On his bottom half is a pair of black jeans he might as well have vacuum packed himself into, and a pair of black engineer boots that've seen better days. Around his neck is a wide, thin black collar and on each hand is a pair of cheap looking black metal studded bracers.

It's hard not to notice the way Yi's looking at her ahroun tribemate. Her brow has furrowed from its calmer, more amiable state, and she's watching him a little more closely than before. "I have put it behind me, if that is what you truly ask," she replies quietly, glancing over to Sean afterwards. "You are close to Basil?" she echoes. "That would mean..." Slowly, her eyes slip back to the fullmoon, though they settle more on the bottle of schnapps than anywhere on his face or body.

Sean follows into the kitchen, stopping at the threshold to create an equal distance between him and both of the other gnawers. He watches Basil chug schnapps with a bit of distaste. "I don't know what you guys are talking about, if that's what you're thinking." He glances back and forth between the two for a moment, waiting to see if an answer is forthcoming.

Basil raises the eyebrow above his false eye, the scarred muscle and flesh causing it to look quite awkward. "It would mean what?" He asks, taking another sip from his bottle. The Gnawer hops up to sit on the counter near the oven, glancing at the clock every so often. "If you mean anything like /that/, I spent Valentines day alone. I'm not with anyone right now."

Yi pulls back a step, frowning slightly at Basil's treatment of the counter. She's mincing a little, like this is not her territory. She does answer strongly, however, with a flat, "No. I didn't mean that." Taking her eyes from the glyph literally carved into the ahroun's chest, she turns back to Sean. "Have you been told why you're here, Sean? Who brought you into this place?"

Sean smirks softly at Basil getting riled. He's used to seeing basil get chaffe about being a charach, but having himself involved gave it a certain novelty. "Aww, you should never be alone on Valentine's day." he jokes. "Oh wait, I was alone too." He draws a blank at Yi, and raises his eyebrows with a lingering smirk. "Umm, that sounds ominous. You're talking about Gaia right?"

"Yeah but the difference between me and you Sean is that I've fucked before. I know what I'm missing when I spend Valentine's Day alone." Basil slides off the counter and fetches his now warm meal, pulling one of many tacos from the bag. "I'll eat a lot of shit cold, but Mexican food tastes like shit when it isn't hot." Basil takes a big bite of the soft shell and puts the schnapps aside, going for a soda instead. "I brought him here. I found him and all, I think. Or was it Mathias? I convinced him he should be a Gnawer anyways."

"I had more meant who brought you to the safehouse," Yi says to Sean with a slight upward twitch of her lip corner, "but that tells me something too." Basil's words draw her gaze back over to him and she listens patiently before glancing between them. "You brought him? Convinced him to be a Gnawer?" Her brows again, furrow. "A Lost cub, then," she murmurs with a look over Sean in a new light. "I assume he also told you more than just that Bone Gnawers were the best." Yi grins a little wider at that.

Sean frowns hunches up his shoulder's at the rough reception his joke gets. "Hey, don't rub it in..." he says in his defense, though it's a hollow defense since he doesn't really consider his virginity such a bad thing. "Mathias found me and brought me in... but hey, you found me even before that, Basil." He grins at Yi and leans back on the dining tables edge. "Of course not, he just told me how bad every other tribe is."

"Yep. He's got that right. If someone claims they're a wiseman than they don't know a thing. Claiming to be the best is just stupid." Basil takes a big sloppy bite of sour cream and adds. "I just told him we weren't a bunch of self righteous chest beating cunts like most of the other fucking jerk offs." Basil makes a jack off gesture on his coke can in Yi's direction with an over the top eye roll, careful not to spill too much of the stuff. "Like anyone with that much hate in their heart is a 'Pure One'. He's a Philo, unless my memory has gone shit."

Yi browlifts again at Basil, but a mild feeling of empathy expresses itself through her. Not caring to add to his commentary, she turns back to Sean and nods. "The unfortunate part is that as the rules stand, you will need to be announced. That rule is, lost cubs like yourself can be claimed by any tribe. And there is mostly a fair choice. Rest assured, if you truly want to be one of us, the Bone Gnawers will fight for you." She glances back towards Basil after saying this, expression tempering. "Are you going to be attending the moot this time, Basil?"

Sean watches the jack-off gesture with a patronizing expression of someone who looks down on such sophomoric things, and casts a worried glance at yi to see if she's offended. You aren't supposed to act like that around girls. "Thinking of any jerk-offs in particular Basil? Sounds personal." It's a rhetorical question, even if it does have an answer, or a few. He shrugs at Yi, nodding. "Yeah, I still haven't met the alpha yet. The glass walkers are the only other ones I'd really consider. Well, I'd join both if I could, but if I have to choose I'll choose Bone Gnawers. Maybe just for that reason, that you'd fight for me." He eyes the sodas across the room thirstily, but doesn't feel like invading Basil's personal bubble tonight.

"Revels are a noble idea, but just that. A noble idea. They only serve to make good Garou dead Garou with no planning, no tactics, and recklessness. I don't do things I don't believe in." Basil replies with a half doured expression, then glances at Sean. "A few. Snow-Bitch, Clean-Cut and Dick Climber can go piss up a rope. But I'm not in the habit of forgiving anyone that votes 'yes' when the question of branding and mutilating another Garou comes up. Especially when they voted for killing me." Basil flashes a brief smile, then tosses his empty can in the sink and snatches up the schnapps again for a quick pull. "Besides. Only you guys give me any respect. I'm not going to a moot to pretend to respect any stupid son of a bitch that'll always look down on me."

Yi stares at Basil for a time. The look on her face could only be one of surprise at his attitude. Sheer dismay at the rudeness. It catches her offguard, even, until her wits come back and she blinks a few times, shaking her head quickly to clear it. "Is that how you feel?" she asks quietly, moving closer so that she's within reach of the schnapps. Her hands don't move from their tensed spots on either side of her, though they've clenched into fists. Yi is not happy, for sure. "So while the rest of us are out there, risking our lives to make sure the caern does not fall to the Wyrm even in the smallest of hints, you would sit here and piss the night away on the bottle. Is that how you feel about it?" For the moment, Sean has been placed aside in her attentions, suddenly coming to focus pointedly on just the ahroun.

Sean forces a smile back to basil, but the bitterness gets to him, as does the pain behind it. He starts to make another joke, but stop with his mouth hanging open when Yi begins to show her anger. He drops his trap shut, watching closely but staying out of the argument, mediating the two sides in his head.

"Nah, if the Caern is attacked I'll be there. And most of the time when a moot *is* happening, I'm off in the woods. No one wants to do guard duty with me so I do it by myself. I guess you didn't hear about the Wyrm thing that I killed, 'uh? With Reggie and Kevin, I did the most damage and I spent almost a week in that stupid white room waiting to move again. But that's ok. I know no one sings about the things I do." Basil looks down at the bottle than looks up at Yi, tilting his head to one side. "What good am I at a moot? I ain't got nothing to challenge for. I don't know any Rites. Most of the people that go don't want me there. And the revel? You look me in the eyes and tell me that you honestly believe that even half the Garou that show up for moots would even come to help me if I was in trouble. 'Cause I know who voted to carve me like a turkey. I watched the people that were there when they did it. They talk a lot about tradition, y'know. Tradition states that after I pay my dues I'm supposed to be forgiven, I'm supposed to be equal again." He snorts and lifts his hand up, pointing at the mark on his chest. "You know as much as I do what this means. It means I am and always will be unforgiven in their eyes."

"How would you know if the caern is attacked if you're sitting here eating tacos and drinking?" Yi counters to start. "How would you know what good you could do if you never go? How will you learn if you do not watch and listen? They do not sing your glory because no one knows you. No one knows you because you sit here saying they will never know you. You speak of tradition, yet you spit on it every time you do not show up there. You stand here, throwing your bitter insults at their backs. And for what? They will not hear you here." Her jaws and lips tighten and she takes a step back away, fighting for composure and calm. "But I do know every one of them would help you when it came down to it. No matter what. If you truly want to be forgiven, then you too must find a way to look past that mark and rise over it. If you want them to see your face and not your chest, then make sure your face is all they see." Finally she looks back to Sean, not having forgotten him, but there is a saddened tinge behind the hard gaze. A sigh escapes her, and she turns to head out of the kitchen, making her way back out towards the front door.

Sean meets Yi's look, his own expression furrowed in concern, but when she goes for the door he jumps up from the table edge to block her, putting his hand on her arm, holding hir there around the corner. He drops his voice to a soft tone. "Hey, wait, don't go yet. Not like that. You came here to apologize right?" He looks into the kitchen at Basil, hoping he's not too upset at this point. "Hey, Basil, don't get upset, she's got a point. Maybe uh... maybe if you go to the moot they'll have to recognize you for what you did with the Groundhog thing. I mean, don't give up on yourself. I still look up to you."

"They didn't before, I doubt they'll start now. I'll be in the woods waiting for something to attack. If I'm going to get no thanks, I might as well do a thankless task." Basil digs into the bag for a burrito and sighs, waving a hand at Yi. "We always fight, but family always does. I'm not giving up on myself, I'm giving up on them. I'm happy with my life right now, and I'm proud of my pack, and of my Tribe." He takes a bit of the gooey cheese and beans then licks his lips clean of the mess, chopping his lips. "Even men like Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar couldn't make men only see their face."

Yi comes to a brief halt as Sean blocks her off, and her gaze lifts back up to the cub. A consideration flits over her features, and she sighs again with a lowering of her gaze, turning it back over her shoulder. "But like this, they will only see your back. And in the meanwhile you think they will stab it," she notes quietly. She shakes her head, slipping her hands into her pockets. "I've been asked to join the Guardians, and I have accepted the invitation. Which means," she says with a glance to the two, "the Bone Gnawers here I hope will not be wanting." She draws out one of her hands from her pockets, setting a key down on the counter top and sliding it over. "Please, take care of the flat. The family is always welcome." She glances over to Sean. "As are you, if you wish to join us."

Sean takes a deep breath and nods his head. "Thanks. Uh, It was nice meeting you." His voice sounds a little stressed, but he smiles grimly, giving her another handshake. "I'm sure I'll see you around." He looks over her shoulder at Basil, waiting for what he's going to say before she goes.

"You can do whatever you want." Basil half grunts, looking off to one side when she announces she's leaving for the woods. He does however put a hand on the key, then says. "You make it sound like you're leaving forever. When are you coming back?"

Yi does shake hands with Sean again, though the difference this time is her shake feels warmer towards him. It's more friendly, even if it is brief again. The fostern takes in a breath and lets it go slowly, ending up with a shrug and a shake of her head. "I will be around, but only on the bawn. As for when I will be back, I could not say. But I /am/ counting on you to take care of the others out here. Just... do what you can, Basil. I ask nothing more." She looks back to Sean. "Well, one more thing. That you make sure Sean finds his way to the farmhouse at some point, and prepare him about Vera." Sean is giving one last once over, before she looks back to Basil. "Okay?"

Sean just gives Yi a half smile and goes to the door, unlocking it slowly, looking back over his shoulder to listen, then holds the door open and leans against the frame.

"Of course. Sean wants to be a Gnawer, and he who stands with me shall be my brother. You don't need to tell me. Besides... If we don't train him to be just, he'll end up as another one of those hang'm high Philodoxes. We have enough of those." He glances at Sean and tucks the key in his pocket, then nods at Yi. "I'll come visit you every so often and bring you 'girl stuff' and food that doesn't breath every so often if you need it."

Yi walks over to the open doorway, stopping beside Sean and looking back. "To note, I think every halfmoon I've trained has come out a fair and kind judge." To Sean she warns, "Don't be too put off by Fred when you do meet him. He has been asleep for some time." Not particularly explaining that, she gives the both of them a wave. "And thank you Basil. Sean. Good night." That said, she slips off down the steps to continue on her way, walking alone down the city streets towards downtown.
