Logfile from GarouMUSH.
Currently the moon is in the waning New Moon phase (7% full).
It is currently 19:09 Pacific Time on Tue May 15 2007.
Currently in Saint Claire, it's a sunny day. The temperature is 75 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Celsius). The wind is currently coming in from the southwest at 14 mph, with gusts up to 21 mph. The barometric pressure reading is 29.97 and rising, and the relative humidity is 30 percent. The dewpoint is 42 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius.)
Bawn: Southern Forest(#3017RAJ)
Evergreen trees spread their overhead branches wide across the forest floor. Each tree limb interlinks with its neighbor, forming a thick overhead canopy of pine needles that leaves the forest floor dim even at noon. An apparent tenseness seems to permeate the air here, and there is a somewhat less than subtle feeling that perhaps something is watching. The behavior of the wildlife in the area betrays a certain wariness that suggests the presence of predators nearby.
The southern edge of the bawn is marked here by the railroad tracks which run from St. Claire and Kent's Crossing to the west, towards the mountains to the east.

[look Alesia (homid)]
Long dark black hair frames the fair-skinned face of this teen girl. There's a bit of firmness to her jaw line and her brown eyes bracket a thin lipped mouth and a smallish nose. Alesia's frame is a bit thin or lithe while still maintaining a hint of classical features. Her frame is thin and almost wiry. There's almost a sadness in her eyes and her mouth looks like smiles might be foreign to it. She stands just just over four and a half feet tall. She has no piercings or jewelry.
Alesia is wearing a newish sweatshirt that's a light pink shade and looks like it might have picked out by guess as it's a tad large on her. Her pants are blue jeans that while tight only show that she doesn't have much in the way of curves, but more look like they are tight because she grew some since they were bought. Her shoes are a bit out of date as well, just a well worn pair of gym shoes.
Carrying:
Bone Spear
It's been a warm day, mid 70s even now, as the sun dims, and the leaves shade the woods into dusk. Through the woods a girl moves, fairly light of foot and quiet through the brush she travels, but louder than any wolf. Her clothing shows wear, a few tears here and there and some rips, plus a bit of dirt here and there. The girl herself has an almost feral look about her, her hair a mess and her way of slipping through the brush with spear in hand make it seem like she's more animal than man.
Though it's warm, there's at least one other animal in the forest who is comfortable with the heat. On regular patrol now as a Guardian, the Gnawer in lupus form makes her way in near silence, traversing the landscape she's helped defend for years. The sounds of other movement catches in her sharp ears and she comes to a stop to turn and sniff in the feral girl's direction. In reality they aren't that far away from each other, despite the shadows of the forest and multitude of trees screening them mutually. Curiously the ragabash moves to investigate.
Alesia is unaware of her observer and pauses, in the tracks of a buck, kneeling and peering at the tracks, then touching them with her fingers, feeling how firm the ground is. This pause is in a small patch of light, leaving her illuminated. Then she rises, apparently she's following the tracks, but based on their age and the fact she's not in lupus there's little chance of her finding the buck so either she is unaware of this or she is simply practicing tracking in homid.
Runner tracks the girl tracking the buck, pausing herself to sniff at the scent left along the ground. Though her nose twitches in distant familiarity with the Fury cub's scent, immediate recognition fails. And because of that, Runner feels her hackles twitch along her spine. Peering about, she finds no others about and so shifts out of view, coming to her breed form after a few seconds. Yi steps out from behind the trees behind the girl, clearing her throat.
Alesia turns, peering at the source of the sound, but when she spies Yi she straightens, apparently recognizing the elder, from moots if nothing else. She stands up straight, with her spear at her side, with the butt of the spear in the ground. She tilts her head then after a moment of study says, "Evening Runs-The-Gauntlet-Rhya." She says softly, apparently the cub knowing who the person is by sight.
Yi studies the cub first as well, the spear after. The fact that she's addressed in full seems to surprise the Gnawer fostern. "You know me," she remarks with upraised brows. "But I am afraid I do not remember you. Your scent is familiar." Her steps forward a few more paces to draw closer, to concentrate her observation. Then she puts fist to palm. "Ahha. You are one of the cubs."
Alesia nods once, carefully not stepping back but staying in place as Yi approaches. She waits until the comment about being one of the cubs then nods again, "Yes, I am Wakes-From-Nightmares, Black Fury knife moon cub." She pauses at that, her grip readjusting on the spear. The spear is well made but Alesia looks like she could use a long hot shower, a hair cut and perhaps some new clothing at this point. Still it is clear she's taken some recent efforts to clean up, as she's not rancid smelling or anything.
Yi looks the cub up and down once more after her introduction, everything getting one more inspection. Seemingly satisfied, the fostern nods more to herself. Then, she shifts her weight to a side and looks down behind the girl's feet. "You were hunting something?"
Alesia ahs and looks over at the tracks, "No..." She pauses, "Yes, but... not... to hunt? I was following older tracks, to get better at tracking and to learn the ways of the deer better so that I could show it proper respect for letting me use a deer bone for my spear." She explains, "I made the spear myself, after Jamethon-Rhya gave me instructions on how to make a spear. He said it is a good spear but that I should seek guidance of the spirits on what final runes should be carved on it. Since I can not go into the umbra alone, I hoped to seek wisdom by tracking the deer."
Yi moves over, stooping to check out the tracks as well. "Hmmm," she muses aloud, "but how will you get better at tracking, if you never find what it is you track?" The question is rhetorical, though, and the fostern stands with a smile. "The Warder is wise, and he is right. It is a good spear. A long time ago, my teacher taught me a rite about using the bones of prey to create some music that would please the animals and their spirits." Then she taps her chin with a finger, once again gazing over the girl. "You say you are a Fury cub, and a theurge. How long have you been here?"
Alesia frowns, just ever so slightly at the question, "I was brought to the sept in December of 2005." She says, a bit of tension showing in her form as she says it, but she is obviously trying hard to hide that reaction. "I was hoping more to learn how it moved by its tracks. I did not want to spook the animal or make the guardians think I was hunting prey on the bawn without permission. I would not do so unless allowed."
That time frame makes Yi's brows figuratively disappear up into her bangs before crashing down with a furrowing. The cub's reaction isn't missed either. It sets the Gnawer into a pensive look of contemplation, physically turning her from the theurge cub to look towards the trees. After a longish period of silence, she speaks again. "It was an old rule, that the Guardians wouldn't allow other Garou to hunt on bawn lands except themselves. Still a good rule." Dark eyes return to the cub. "Have you gone on a Rite of Passage before?"
Alesia nods once to the comment on it being a good rule then at the question she regrips her spear, "No, I have not yet gone on a rite of passage." She admits, and looks down, apparently feeling tense and akward about this question. She tries to change the topic, "I was told that the rule on hunting was law, I would not disrespect the sept or the guardians."
"It is law. If you take the territory of the bawn as the territory of the Guardians," Yi explains, "then hunting on the Guardian territory without their permission is not allowed." Distracted, though, the ragabash paces away from the cub then with a few mutterances to herself in her native tongue. Her tone is puzzled, and a little bothered. She turns back to Alesia quickly. "Who is the elder of the Black Furies now? Leslie? Helen?"
Alesia hesitates, "I perhaps should seek permission, would I ask Jamethon-Rhya?" She ventures then at the question about who is elder she blinks in surprise, and tilts her head, "Nike-Rhya is the new elder. Leslie has... left I believe. I believe Laura has left as well."
Yi nods to the first question. "Jamethon is the Warder. The Alpha of the Guardians, you could say. But your elders should be providing for you as well. The farmhouse has plenty to eat." When the newest elder is named, Yi can't help but tilt her head in nonrecognition. "Nike? I do not think I have met her. Well, if you do see Helen or your new elder... maybe you could deliver a message for me and tell them I would like to see them. Either one will do."
Alesia nods, "I have food, I am not going hungry I would just like to hunt a single deer as part of learning its ways better." She explains slowly and carefully as if she's afraid a single mis-word will be held against her. "I will attempt to deliver the message quickly. Should I tell who I see first? And if I see one before the other should I still inform the other of your wish to see them?"
"Either or both," Yi answers with a small nod. "Since I have not met your new elder, it would be a pleasure. And Helen, I have known for some time." There's a certain fondness to the mention of the named latter. Then, Yi clears her throat again and glances down once more to the forest floor. "I think the cost of a single deer would not hurt the prospects of the Guardians' hunts. And it is exciting. I remember the first time I chased deer in these forests. My heart beat was so loud, I think that is what alerted them."
Alesia nods and gives a small shrug, "I have had permission, back when Laura was here, last year, to hunt on the bawn in a very limited way. I was also taken off the bawn to hunt a few things. It is very thrilling." Yet despite her words there is no great thrill shown in her, not even in memory, then she frowns, glances to the side, mutters something soft enough that it is missed then looks back up at Yi. "I will be sure to tell them both then that you wish to speak with them."
Yi quirks her head to a side at the frown and glance, arching her brows at the cub. She almost makes a comment, but then the cub's attention returns and she nods again. "Then, I believe I have stalled your tracking practice long enough! I thank you for your acceptance of the favor. And now, I believe I will resume my patrol."
Alesia nods once, never once having smiled during the discussion, looking to be a very somber girl. She re-grips her spear, then glances into the darkness, "Harder to track by sight now that the sun is fading. May have to change to wolf." She comments then looks back to Yi, "Gaia guide your path, I will tell Helen and Nike-Rhya of your wishes."
"And even harder with no moon shining tonight," Yi remarks with an upwards glance. "I wish you luck in your practice, young cub, and good hunting." She turns to leave again, but pauses after a couple of paces to turn back about. "Hey. You said your name was Wakes-From-Nightmares. What is your human name?"
Alesia ahs and pauses from starting to turn back to the tracks, "Alesia. My human name is Alesia Ottis." She tilts her head, peering at Yi, "I think I will not track in the dark, but... there are other things to do, still perhaps sleeping would be best."
Yi blinks and nods once again, giving her a small smile. "Well Alesia, my name is Yi, in case you wanted to call me otherwise. There are still a few minutes of daylight left, though. Use it wisely." With a bit of salute, the Gnawer turns again and shifts back to her lupus form, appearing as a smaller, more coyote-sized wolf than actual gray. A sharp bark of farewell, and she's off again.
