The Sept Compound(#2075RAM)
Sweeping branches of trees form a sort of natural roof overshadowing most of this clearing. In the center of the clearing is a fire pit with several old logs polished from use for seats. A stack of firewood is discreetly piled up at the base of an old spruce under a tarp. At the edge of the clearing and extending back a bit into the woods resides a rough wooden structure with a slate tile roof. A stone slab rests off to one side of the clearing in a place of some prominence. The meadowlike profusion of grasses and other plants has an unusually high concentration of brilliant flowers, which attract a number of bees and butterflies. (+view works here)
A faint trail leads off to the east, and a bit north.

Beneath the cloudy skies, Yi has been keeping a fire going in the sept compound since the afternoon. Now as the time ticks towards the sun starting to set, she's finished roasting a couple of skewered fish from a nearby creek. The pine branch in her hand she's using to fan the flames lightly is set onto the fire, to smoke and crackle, and add their taste to the fish.

Reflection comes tromping through from the northeast on his way back to the compound, in his jaws a mangled baby deer, almost too large to carry in this manner for the massive wolf. Even with that in his mouth he looks rather, displeased as he stalks up to the fire near Yi, where he drops the actually rather tasty looking dead dear. On closer inspection it has the telltale marks of some kind of trap having been sprung on it. Reflection shifts up to homid and offers, "Old fucking bear trap. Who knows how long it was there. Curious little guy went sniffing at it... I'm not sure if it's neck was snapped instantly or that happened after he starting thrashing about."

Yi glances up at the sounds of the Warder coming through the wood, looking even more surprised to see him than she is the deer in his mouth. She stands at his approach, brushing off her hands on her pants and looks to the deer with a small sympathy. "Gaia speed her along to rejoin Stag and his brood, born new again," she says softly before looking back to the Get. "And it's good to finally see you, once more, Jamethon. Where was the trap?"

Jamethon nods to the small prayer and looks over to the Deer, now shaking his head, "North, just off the bawn. Smelled the blood, checked it out. Was well hidden enough, but I don't see how it was going to actually trap a bear. Fucking idiots. Fresh kill, recent. The meat is still good. Not going to let it go to waste." With that he reaches into his jacket and pulls out a long-bladed sheathed hunting knife, and sets that down next to the deer. "Good to see you too, Runner."

Yi waits in silence with the prayer being spoken, respectfully withholding words until he's done. "So that is where you went off to," she muses. "But whoever set the trap... they couldn't possibly be thinking to catch a bear, no. Maybe something bear-like. Like, say, a wolf as big as a bear." The ragabash considers this aloud, and then moves to pluck one of the fish on a stick away from the fire. "Would you like the other one?" she offers with a gesture of her hand to the one skewer left. "We could perhaps, speak while we eat?"

Jamethon consider Yi's word and though homid, does his best at a good lupine snarl. Shaking his head of these thoughts he then looks to the fish, "Yes, thank you. My hunt was not exactly successful, even with the discovery. What would you speak to me of?"

"What were you hunting for?" Yi asks curiously, leaving his counterquestion off to the side a moment. After a bite of fish, the ragabash picks out some of the bones to put them back into the fire. "And actually... many things. But first thing is first. I am again needed away from the bawn."

Jamethon reaches to take the second skewer, pulling away a sizable hunk of flesh with teeth without waiting for food to really cool first. He doesn't seem to mind however. "I was hunting." Is all he answers to the first question. Then as she reveals her heading away for whatever time he scowls, "You are /needed/ on the Bawn." He takes a breath and continues with, "What is taking you away from your duties now, when Guardians are too few as it is?"

Yi looks a little uncomfortable with the scowl from the Warder, but screws up her courage and presses on. "Vera-rhya, has asked Kaz and me to find the mother of a Lost Cub. She lives, supposedly, away near the city's edge." A beat skips. "And we were told this cub's mother is Ronin."

Jamethon takes another large bite and rolls his eyes, "And she asks of /my/ guardians without speaking to me first. The Shadow Lords do use their rank interestingly, I see. Very well. You know the rules though. You must get a suitable replacement for your time away. You are a Fostern though, and thus must either get another Fostern to cover for you, or at least two Cliaths. I am understood." It is infact, at the end there, more a statement than a question.

Yi shrugs in a bit of helplessness. "She asked Kaz to tell me, though why the two of us I don't know. After all, she too is a Ragabash, no?" In the Warder's statement, though, she smiles and lifts a finger. "I have done so. Helen and Hummingbird Comes From The Mountain will help. Both, I believe, are able ragabash. Helen especially. Though, Hummingbird is a guest, yes?"

Jamethon nods to this and narrows his eyes at the mentioning of Hummingbird. "Helen, you know I approve of. This Hummingbird though. Uktena." James sighs and after a good long moment of silence, nods, "Very well. He fought against the Spirals along side our warriors, I will accept him as temporary Guardian in your stead." He takes another bite, picks a small piece of bone from his mouth and tosses it into the fire before continuing, "Any other /news/?"

Yi rubs at the back of her neck briefly with a free hand, nodding with the Warder's acceptance. "As for news, I did learn the Rite of Accomplishment. And earlier today, was teaching a minor rite to Hummingbird, for his taking my place as temporary Guardian. Ah... oh, yes, Olga was looking for you though I'm not sure why." The Gnawer fostern smiles a bit remembering her encounter. "She even decided to bathe." This, apparently, is news.

Jamethon is mostly neutral in response to the news, though a slight nod at her learning a new rite is offered. He does however, give a huff of laughter at the news of Olga. "She should know where to find me." He grins, "Not like I can go too far."

Yi shakes her fish skewer at the Warder. "Ai, but you know how long it takes to travel from one end of the bawn to the other! And that does not even count the Shadow, or the tricks Chimera might decide to play on her. She was one of Chimera's bonded, and everything."

Jamethon grins, shrugs, and looks around, "Never the less, I return to the Compound regularly. If she seeks, she will find." He takes a final bite from the fish and tosses the remains onto the fire to char and burn away. "I do know of the tricks Chimera may play though." He grins a little wider before looking back to Yi more casually. "How long do you expect to be gone?"

Yi, with her fish almost gone as well, takes another moment to ponder. "No more than two nights, I would say. Kaz already had a general idea, and she has a name. The only trouble I predict will be is if we actually run into each other." It's only after she watches the flames dance a little bit before the ragabash suddenly sits up. "Oh! I remember what it was Olga wanted to speak to you about. Aiya, my memory." Yi shakes her head at herself. However, then she grows a little cautious, a little wary, and regards the Get Warder. "She wanted to ask if Squeaks-Like-A-Rat could be allowed on the bawn."

Jamethon nods his head and considers for a bit, and then shakes his head, "Deja Vu. This was already asked of me. Permission was granted for the night in question... as long as the kid was kept under control. No bad thoughts toward the kid himself, but he is representative of poor events here at the Walk. No need for that all to flare up again. We are in a time where we seek to unite us all, not cause more division."

Nodding slowly, Yi chews away at some of the leftover fish before she tosses the remains into the fire. "She," the ragabash notes slowly, "has been here for years now. And I agree with Olga, she does need to have some fresh air and freedom. But if she is brought out here, I too will make sure she behaves."

Jamethon nods to the statement, "Again, nothing against the kid. Plenty of metis proved themselves before my eyes. I just know kids well enough to know that they are annoying at best, disruptive little brats at worst." Gee, James not a fan of children? What a shock! "I expect to see you back on the Bawn as soon as your work is done. Remember, do not bring anything, or anyone tainted back to the Bawn. If the mother is not... salvagable, then well, I'm sure Vera was clear in her instructions."
