Logfile from GarouMUSH.

Currently the moon is in the waxing New Moon phase (2% full).
It is currently 19:12 Pacific Time on Mon Aug 13 2007.
Currently in Saint Claire, it's a sunny day. The temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24 degrees Celsius). The wind is currently coming in from the northeast at 8 mph. The barometric pressure reading is 30.06 and falling, and the relative humidity is 37 percent. The dewpoint is 48 degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees Celsius.)

Farmhouse: Hallway and Living Room
All doorways in the front part of the house lead to the front hallway, a J-shaped area with the short tail starting at the stairs, the front door hitting the bottom curve, the doorless opening to the living room halfway up the long side, and the also doorless opening to the kitchen and dining room at the very top. The hall has a simple wooden floor, and decorated with a generic print of soft-colored flowers hanging on the wall to the right of the front door, and a tall table sitting under the print which serves as a place to toss keys. A closet under the stairs serves as a place to hang coats or to toss shoes.
The doorless opening to the living room is halfway up the side of the hall's J, and the word cozy might spring to mind when looking into is, as it seems to radiate comforting vibrations. A long couch sits against the south wall beneath a large bay window curtained only by sheers that manages to obscure the view in but only filters the day's light. A variety of out-of-date magazines are strewn atop a low coffee table; more neatly presented are the plethora of books filling the small bookshelves which line the eastern wall. Three chairs sit about the room, focused inward, to allow group conversations. Large floor pillows are stacked in one corner of the room, except one, which lies carelessly in the middle of the floor, apparently left out the last time it was used.
An opening in the northern end of the hallway allows access to the kitchen and dining room at the back of the house, while carpeted stairs twist up at the other end of the hall, leading to the second floor. A door at the base of the J lets out to the front porch.

Sass nods. "Working gadgets..." she looks curiously at the lighter. "Mebbe ya got it wet?"

Archi travels across Kaz's shoulders and investigates her hair. "Weird," she says, squinting at the lighter. She flicks her own out, and tries it; it works fine.

"Might be a bad one", Reggie considers. "It hasn't rained today, and I picked it up just yesterday." He shrugs, and flicks off the lighter, and puts it back in his jeans pocket, then reaches out to the new shelving unit with a light prod, seeing how stable it is. "Where's this going?"

The shelf is as sturdy as any of its DIY kit kinfolk. "Um, I dunno zactly where..." She beams up at Kaz, "But I reckon she'll tell me!"

"I think," Kaz says, hunching her shoulders even more, "Might work on the staircase. Give th' place a well lived in look."

Following a shined black stone on a string, Yi steps into the farmhouse again, proceeding through the kitchen and hall to the living room. The stone points towards Reggie, and she jerks up the obsidian piece into her hand before looking to the others. "Found you," she notes to Reggie before glancing to Kaz and the unfamiliar face. "Ah, I am sorry to interrupt, but this is important, and requires your attention," she remarks to Reggie then.

[look Sass (homid)]
Standing not even a hair over 4'4", and even some of that height could /be/ her hair, this girl appears to be an undersized pre-teen. One could easily guess anywhere between 10 and 13 years of age at a quick glance. She's got a mess of curly dark hair, some of the spiralling strands dyed random kool-aid colors, generally blues, reds, and purples. She's rather unremarkable looking, with soft grey-brown eyes and a faintly olive complexion, but she's quick to smile, revealing dimples in each cheek. She's dressed in what appear to be old hand-me-downs, or Salvation-Army chic, depending on your point-of-view.
Currently she wears a pair of baggy cargo-pants, with at least one pocket looking a bit heavy. The hems pool scruffily and threadbare over a pair of what once were black combat boots. Except now they're scuffed and splattered with paint, even a sticker or three for good measure. It appears that she has on a black tee-shirt, but as only the neckline is visible under a dark blue, grey, and white baja hoodie, its hard to tell exactly. However, at the neckline are a few necklaces; a jade carving of a rat on a red string, something that looks like a bone or a tooth on a leather cord, a tiny Grumpy Care Bear charm on a dog tag chain, and a dog paw charm on a blue studded dog collar. The charm reads "Scamp," and looks like its seen better days.

Reggie rests his hand on the shelves as he begins to respond easily to Kaz, "People skateboarding down the stairs will get that lived in look--", then at Yi's arrival, he quickly pulls his hand off the shelving unit, and turns towards Yi. "Yes?"

Archi schooches down to Kaz's hand; Kaz writhes, and finally offers the rat back to Sass. "I'd rather," she says, after a moment to breathe, "Not have /that/ kinda lived in look."

Sass can't help but chuckle at Kaz as she takes the rat back. Archi scampers up her arm, seeming to almost chitter in her ear before he hops back up on top of her head again. She blinks, and quiets immediately, as the newest arrival comes in with something that seems important.

Yi gets a momentary distraction from watching the rat transfer, studying Sass just a bit more closely for a few more seconds, and then returns her attention to Reggie. "The Walkers went into the Umbra recently - on a thin moon, yes - and they said they were attacked." She holds up a hand to hold off questions and remarks of its obviousness. "They said, they came across a Weaver spirit close to the caern. Or inside it. Anyway, the spirit was said to be intending to drain the caern's power, so they destroyed it. But for some reason the Wyld spirits attacked them as well. Has there been further trouble?"

Kaz's gaze sharpens. "Th' /Weaver/ spirit was? The fuck?"

Sass shoots a glance to Kaz, "Mebbe the Spirals ain't yer only problem, huh?"

Reggie takes in the news with consternation and not a little of disbelief. "Glass Walkers were fighting the Weaver?", he marvels. "Did I hear that right?"

Kaz says, with some asperity, "Yes, and you heard the part about wanting to drain the Caern right, too."

Yi bobs her head up and down. "It is strange, but that is what the cubs had said. Kevin, Chris and Mick. The two cubs came back with strange burns. I could only imagine those were made by the Wyld spirits, though."

Sass lets Archimedes finish off whatever he wants of her slightly-more-than-half eaten apple, just listening for the time being.

Reggie finally takes it in, and shakes his head, "Strange days, Walkers fighting the Weaver. If the cubs came back with just burns, after encountering Wyld spirits, they got off lightly. Do you know if the Wyld spirits were attacking just them, or anyone in the place? Did the Wyld spirits attack them after they fought the Weaver?", he addresses Yi.

Yi shakes her head to the Groundskeeper. "I am not sure," she replies to him with a second glance to Kaz and Sass before refocusing on the Uktena. "They said they had found the Weaver spirit, spoke to it some how. Then they attacked the Weaver spirit, and the Wyldlings had attacked them. That is all I know. Maybe if we find Kevin, he may tell us more."

Reggie states firmly, "We will find Kevin", leaving out any hint of a 'maybe'.

Kaz says, "Yah. Sounds like a big ol' plan."

Sass, not knowing the aforementioned people, just looks to Kaz briefly, then goes back to amusing Archimedes.

Kaz asides to Sass, "Walker. M'packmate."

Yi nods as well, looking like she's heaved a half burden off of herself, and finally takes a better look at Sass. "I apologize for my rudeness," the ragabash offers with a small dip of her head to the smaller Gnawer. "I am Yi. Kaz's tribemate, fostern ragabash and Guardian." Her eyes start to stray towards Archimedes, watching the rat gnaw upon the half-eaten apple.

Reggie looks past the Gnawers into the rest of the living room, as though he might find a Kevin hiding there, then states, "I'll call him up, find if he's at the Walker place." His gaze turns to Sass as Yi addresses her, and he reads the charm hanging off one of her necklaces. "Scamp", he considers. "There was one when--no, of course not. That was too long ago", he mutters quietly, then addresses Sass with, "Pardon, I've been just as rude. I'm Snakepatcher, a Fostern Ahroun of the Uktena, Groundskeeper for the Sept of the Hidden Walk, child of Raccoon, former child of Magpie. I'm called Reggie Coward in the city, where I've got a pool hall. Reggie for short."

Kaz adds, sotto voce, "Also m'packmate."

Sass's face screws up with a lopsided grin, and she looks shiftily from side to side for a moment, impish and mischievous. "Wull, I'm Sass Spinelli, also called Tunnel Rat, also called Scamp, and a few assorted other names, generally wandering Metis Gnawer No-Moon, daughter of Rat, lately of the Portland area and the pack Pyraticals." She points to the rat atop her head. "N'this is Archimedes."

Yi does smile faintly at Archimedes, and then down to Sass. "I forgot - they call me Runs-the-Gauntlet, or Runner for short. Not in any pack at the moment," she adds with a flicker of a glance to Reggie and Kaz. "What brings you to the Hidden Walk?" she asks out of curiosity.

Sass jerks a thumb towards Kaz. "I heard there were some small spaces that might need a small person to squeak through, n'find some stuff."

Kaz adds, cheerfully, "I drug her over from Portland, 'cause good lord do we need more useful scouts."

Reggie nods formally at the rat, after acknowledging Sass's introduction with a nod. "Archimedes."

Yi just gives Kaz a funny sort of look at the galliard's note. "More useful scouts?" she repeats slowly.

Kaz tilts her head at Yi. "Yeah. I mean. In addition t'you. And Lefty. And Masao. And... Oh, whatever. I just think she has clues, so sue me."

Sass hides a chuckle behind her hand. Archimedes, for his part, must have seen enough now, and he scurries beneath the no-moon's shirt at the collar, making a little rat-sized lump on her shoulder.

Reggie snaps two fingers of his hand up, at Kaz's mentioning 'clues'. "I'm off to go call up Kevin. If you find any of these clues, either through Scamp here or anyone, find me."

Kaz gives Reggie a mock salute. "Will do, cap'n."

Yi chews a section of her bottom lip, but then cracks a bit of a grin and shrugs her shoulders lightly. "I would, but the money I get would not pay for my lawyer," she replies, and then nods towards Reggie with that smile fading a touch. "I hope you find them. I will try to ask the cubs further details when I see them next."

Reggie nods at Yi, and heads out the front door.

Sass stifles a small yawn, standing up and stretching to her, well, full height. What there is of it. "Where ya want me to put this shelf, hmm hmm?"

Kaz jerks her thumb up the stairs. "Stick it against the wall there. I'll prolly move it t'morrow, 'cause I ain't got no sense of interior decoratin'."

Yi watches Reggie head out, but then a thought suddenly strikes her and she looks between the two Gnawers. Her focus goes to Kaz first. "Her chiminage has been given?" she asks, tone more thoughtful.

Sass starts up with the bookcase, sans shelves for the moment to make it more manueverable. "Yeah, bookshelf 101, eh?" she jokes, then just lets Kaz handle it from there.

Kaz raises an eyebrow at Yi, as she carts shelves. "Well, I'd kinda sicked her on Fernando, so we can find some Dancers, but if you got other ideas..."

Yi looks back to the smaller Gnawer, a smile given to her and the rat-shaped lump in her shoulder. "No, no other ideas," she mentions with nod to Kaz. "But since we are three Gnawers here, I wonder -- maybe we should have our own little moot for the Family, some time."

Sass cants her head curiously towards Yi, then sets the bookshelf down. She rubs her chins thoughtfully, then adjusts the shelf a bit.

Slowly, Kaz starts grinning. "...Yah, might not be a bad idea, at that. You gotta thought about moon phase?"

Shrugging again, Yi shakes her head. "The only thing I may suggest is, perhaps, after the moot. You know, once everyone has had a chance to... 'unwind'?" The Gnawer picks the word carefully, the way she says it giving a silent question after its proper usage.

Kaz nods a little. "I'll... think about dates an' times an' shit. Because yeah, lot goin' on, and it'd be good if we could just hang t'gether."

Sass glances between the two women, pausing as she inserts the shelves into place. "I'm... missing something here, ain't I?"

Yi blinks at Sass, brows arching in fleeting confusion. "I'm sorry?"

Kaz shakes her head. "Nah. Just, we ain't had tribal moot inna while, I just got back, so why not. No big thing."

Sass ohs quietly, adjusting the last shelf into place. She turns and shoots a wide grin to both other Gnawers. "Okie. Sorry. Just me being... well, me, I guess. Everything's old, everything's new, y'know."

Kaz looks at Sass but doesn't quite see her, for a moment. Then she refocuses on her. "Yah. Y'know, it only just occurred to me, you was here when I got to St. Claire t'begin with. The first time, I mean. Weird."

It's Yi's turn to look confused and wonder aloud, "Perhaps I am 'missing something'." And then, her question unasked is answered by Kaz's note and she looks quickly between her two tribemates before looking back to Sass. "You were in St. Claire before?"

Sass snaps a little salute towards Yi. "Yes ma'am. Twice before now. Once as a wee cubbie, and a coupla years after, just after I was Rited."

Kaz rummages in her pocket. "I mean," she says, finding a Coke, "I knew you was /here/. I enjoyed you, at the time. I just mean, you was like, /there/. When I first got here, and Chugs pinned me to the wall with one look and said, "You. Stay." And I kinda squeaked and said, 'Yessir.'"

Yi looks amused at Sass' salute. "That 'couple of years' ago must have been longer," she considers softly, "but I think I do remember Chugs." She glances to Kaz for confirmation. "Pete? From the church? Or the Rialto?"

"Um, both, right?" Sass looks to Kaz for confirmation, and shrugs. She holds up a hand and does some quick mental calculations. Archimedes, in the meantime, exits her shirt and leans up and chews on her earlobe lovingly. "I think it was... '94 when I first darkened the streets of St. Claire? But, gosh, its been a good what seven, eight, nine years since I was last here?"

Kaz says, a little wryly, "Yeah, nine or 10 years ago, now..." She nods at Yi, now. "Yep. Pete Barlow. Chugs By The Gallon. Th' Rialto was his turf, before it was mine. He was... one've my heroes, really." She shakes her head. "Sorry, Ms. Spinelli. didn't mean t'get maudlin on you."

Yi does some of her calculations, eyes straying ceilingwards. She makes a face, looking almost embarrassed to admit, "Ten years ago, I did not even know what a Garou was." A hand sweeps back behind her to rub at the back of her neck, expressing her sheepishness.

Sass ;'s lips twist into a wry smile. "Well, I like to think I've gotten a wee bit taller, but, honestly, I don't know that I have." For once, her eyes betray an older soul than her build will ever possibly show. A brief sigh, and a slight shrug follow. "The perils and perks of being metis, I suppose." She blinks suddenly, a finger tapping her chin. "Oh my god, I'm a Garou Peter Pan...."

Kaz stares at Sass. "Just... Don't start bringin' Tink into the mix, OK?" She sounds very sincere on that front.

Yi again, must be missing the joke on the deeper level. So instead, the ragabash turns to Kaz and asks, "What is 'maudlin'?"

"Sappy emotional wistful-like," the smaller Gnawer comments, still looking a bit distracted. "Wait. Maybe /I'm/ Tink?"

Kaz says, "Sad and wistful," while still looking at Sass. Gently, she says, "Hey. Spinelli. Don't extend the metaphor too far, it'll leave acid burns on your brain."

Yi ohs again, but the crease of her brow downwards belies her lack of understanding. "Wistful?"

Sass rolls her eyes at Kaz, and shoulderbumps against her lightly. Her nose wiggles not unlike that of the little rat on her shoulder, and she lets the Galliard explain the words.

Kaz shrugs wordlessly at Sass, small wry grin quirking on her lips. "Wistful-- kinda... missin' stuff. Wishin' it was like that still." She stares off into nothingness again, and shakes her head abruptly. "Except I /really really don't/. I'm a much diff'rent person now than I was then, and I'm in... a much better situation, all around. I just kinda wish Pete was still around, sometimes, is all."

Yi finally ahs, indicating success in definition. "Like 'nostalgic' and 'full of memories', yes?" she queries, though not in a way that requires answering. She catches that distant stare and clears her throat lightly. "He is around as long as you remember him," remarks the ragabash. "And who knows? Maybe he will come back to visit, like some other faces we have seen recently at our moots or in other unexpected places." She gets a small twinkle to her own eyes, and then looks away. "Well, I should be returning to the bawn. I fear what the Umbra might be like right now, but still there must be inspections."

Sass's nose wrinkles again, "And here there's me hardly no different at all." The small no-moon exhales a sigh, gathering Archimedes into her hands and cradling him gently. She nods to Yi quietly, "If'n you need help ever, and if'n she lets me... jes' holler."

Kaz waves a hand. "Yeah, yeah. Lives on in memory, all that good shit. I'm the Galliard, believe me, I /know/. Just... sometimes it hits me." she shrugs. "Anyhow, I'll catch you later."

Yi pauses by the doorway with her hand on the wall, nodding to the two. "I will be sure to ask. Strength in numbers, such is our way. And every new, or old, addition is welcome. Oh, and be cautious this month. It is that time of the year when ghosts rise and like to cause mischief. Such is the belief of my homeland."

Kaz blinks a few times. "Didn't know that. It's October, f'us. But I'll... pay attention."

Sass blinks as well, then arches an eyebrow looking at Kaz. "Hunh. Wunner if its sumthin' to do with like, where we are on th'planet n'stuff, has to do with when ghosties trouble-make."

Yi grins at Kaz then, her smile returning shortly. "More that the moon is what we followed there, perhaps. And, I think the stores in the city are probably selling Halloween items already, if I remember rightly. Well, it is a curious thought. Good night, you two. Gaia grant you good hunting." And with a final wave, Yi heads down the hallway and exits through the farmhouse's front door.
