Bawn: Central Forest(#2876RA)
The forest is dark and quiet. No, not quiet. Listening. The ancient firs rear up all around, branches interwoven in a dense roof of dark green. Fallen needles lie in a thick carpet on the ground, heaped up around the drifts of undergrowth clinging to the scarce patches of light reaching the forest floor. Every sound seems muffled, and the sharp scent of pine hangs in the air like the clouds of midges that swarm ceaselessly beneath the branches. Even the many deer who roam here seem to step more quietly than usual, and the songbirds seldom sing.
The forest spreads out around you in all directions.

Matt is out here on bawn, in homid though he's barefoot. He carries a large (relative to him) backpack on his back as well as a satchel at his side, one marked 'Traitors' in garou runes. He seems to be looking for people in general, though he's not making a whole bunch of noise.
Perhaps it isn't Matt's fault that he stumbles onto one of the Guardians almost literally. As the cub passes by a small copse of shorter trees and bushes, a rustling sounds and Runs-the-Gauntlet seems to materialize from out of thin air. In truth, the fostern ragabash dispels her gift of blissful ignorance in favor of announcing her presence to the passing galliard with a heavy chuff and movement to a better spot where he can see her mid-sized lupus form even during the night, thanks to the full moon's light scattering down through the trees.
Matt gives a look over to the lupus, and gives a short bow. He smiles for a moment, then says softly, "I bring news and gifts Yi-Rhya. I've already made sure Kevin-Rhya was okay, and have spoken to him at length about an upcoming event that I will be hosting." he smiles happily, kneeling down and unziping the pack as he fishes out two packages of crackers, some sliced meat and cheese, as well as a few bottles of water. "Food too, if you're hungry for the basics. Or...I've a thing of coffee if you need that."
Runner sniffs investigatively towards the bag. Not hungry now, young talesinger. She cocks her head at him briefly, and then backs up so as to revert to her human form. A couple cricks of her bones back to a comfortable set later, and she offers a faint smile to him. "What event is it?"
Matt gives a nod, and rezips the bag, the coffee still in a container in there, before he says "Well...was thinking. After my rite, I want to hold a small personal thing, just for a few people, when I break the ties I have with my past. Was talking, and thought up...well, this new moon, with all the stress going on, what could be done? Thought a bit more, and decided to bring a howl to the sept. To call back and give praise to Gaia and Luna and Helios. Was going to run it much like the start of the moot with the fool. Kevin, and maybe others of Vendetta, will wear racoon masks, or use facepaint, and claim such things as 'Helios has left us to eternal night, see how the light grows shorter with every day, and the darkness grows longer' And myself, and a few others will lead the howls and calls to claim like 'Helios has only rested, but will return, stronger then before, to banish the long nights so the wyrm has nowhere to hide. Praise Gaia. Ending it all with a trophy burning...in which all the garou who wish, can burn thier trophies to honor Gaia, and ask that the following year brings more trophies."
Yi shrugs a little further into her jacket in efforts to escape the cold, listening intently. The shadows mask a good portion of her face, but her expression is nevertheless visible as one of consideration. "Your thoughts are well-meaning, Matt. And somehow, very familiar." The ragabash lifts a hand to her chin, finger tapping on it. "I think the Garou have a rite for this. You should search for one who knows a ritual like it."
Matt gives a nod. "I've heard of it before, why I thought of it...but I don't know the name, or even who would know it. Still...could do the howl anyways. I'm sure there are a few garou who need to hear it."
"Have you asked our Master of the Rite about it?" Yi asks further, now looking puzzled as well as she continues thinking aloud. "Or maybe the Groundskeeper would know. Reggie has been around for a long time here." She pauses a beat, and adds with a small, dark chuckle, "not counting the ones I have been here. But, I like the idea. Why the new moon, though, Matt? Why not during your moon, the howling moon?"
Matt smiles and gives a look to Yi. "There's still alot of danger about at the moment. Instead, I think it'd be better to do it on the new moon, when the spirits might be lowest. So it's supposed to rally spirits." he pauses, "Hear about the fomori attack on bawn?"
Yi scoffs at the note about danger, but there's no denying the worrying in her tone. "There's always danger, Matt, but someone once told me not to be so... what is that word. Paranoid." She runs a hand through her long hair, working out a tangle in the process and gazing out towards the pitch black forest. "You should still ask the Master of the Rite and the Groundskeeper to see what they say. Maybe you can find a good spot for it." On mention of the attack, she turns back to him and stares. "Which one?" she asks, and none of it jokingly.
Matt looks to Yi, "The fomori dogs, attacked Cole, Kevin, Mick, and Chris. apparently nearly killed the four, but Cole managed to save the day by some loud bellow of a sort. The fomori dogs ran off, but are likely still on bawn."
Matt is out here on the bawn with Yi, a backpack on his back, and his trophy bag at his side, though he's already left a gift of cheese, crackers, meat, and bottled water for the guardian.
"Fomori dogs?" Yi repeats, a frown setting into her features. "What do you mean they're likely still on the bawn?" Uttering a curse in her native tongue that borders on a growled one.
Matt gives a nod to Yi, "From what I've heard. Chris is at Nicholson Hall, he lost an arm. Not sure how hurt the others are, though Kevin might have been hurt pretty bad. He didn't let it show though." he pauses, "Beyond that, I havn't been able to get specifics, just that there's fomori dogs about that weren't killed."
Kaz comes tromping through the woods, singing Mozart's Requiem enthusiastically.
Matt looks over to the new sounds, and says "Kaz-Rhya?" tilting his head, but calling her on over. "Got some coffee if you'd like it, but the snacks are for the guardians. Well, at least for Yi-Rhya."
Kaz deviates from her chosen path to go find Septmates. "Hey, yo," she says, cheerfully. "'Sup? And that's cool, I got my own snacks."
Matt nods and smiles, "Spoke with Kevin-Rhya earlier, but with Vendettas alphaship...might be challanged soon, thought it'd be best to tell you too. Was intrested in doing a howl for Gaia on the New Moon. Y'know, raise spirits and the like. Kevin-Rhya said he'd be happy to help, and maybe we'd make him a racoon mask, or use fingerpaints. And that his pack is more then welcome to join in."
Yi is far, far away from smiling. But, Kaz's appearance presents itself as good. "Kaz, have you heard about the fomori attacking the bawn? A fomori dog pack that attacked Cole and... who was it?" She looks back to Matt for the information.
Kaz grins at Matt. "Sounds like a good kinda thought. Cuz if there was ever someone that needed some cheerin' up, it's him." She blinks at Yi. "Um. No?"
Matt nods to Kaz. "New moon. You're invited one way or another." he smiles, "And. Sean-Yuf, has one hell of a rite. Had to comfort him for a bit." he pauses and looks back to Yi, "Cole, Chris, Mick, and Kevin. Chris loss an arm, Mick and Kevin looked okay, and Cole I havn't seen. But, apparently, Cole managed to scare them off before they became dog food."
Kaz shoots him a thumb's up, and then expells air through her teeth. "Yeah. It is a hell of a Rite. Sometimes, bein' a Philodox is all about there bein' /no/ good answers, which is sure the fuck the case now. It's... more than kinda tough on him to confront him with the reality of this situation so straightforwardly, but th' good part about it is that almost no answer's the wrong answer."
Yi thumbs in Matt's direction, and looks back to her tribemate. "That," she remarks with a rather displeased tone. "A pack of dogs, Wyrm tainted or not, who could tear apart four Garou and still loose. Maybe on the Bawn." She glances back to the forest, staring off as if hunting in the dark for those very figures. "With Ayita gone, the Guardians have no galliard to pass the message through. It is... most inconvenient."
Matt nods to Kaz. "Well...I won't tell him that...but I keep thinking, wondering and hoping that there isn't some way to save more." he looks to Yi, "I've been running messages as best I can, and in fact, will likely keep doing it. Two steps in front of the wyrm. As for the dogs? Yeah...damn."
Kaz grunts. "I'll try'n find one've 'em, ask what's up an' if they finished 'em off. And... Every time someone talks about th' Guardians, I think about joinin' you guys, but I really do think I'm more useful mobile, y'know?"
Matt nods to Kaz. "If you want. Should I keep trying to help Sean? Or want me to just comfort him? I...don't want to ruin his rite by just telling him he can say anything."
Yi nods in understanding to Kaz, but waves her off. "The important thing is finding out what it is that is threatening our bawn. That, I understand, means some of us cannot be upon it 24-7." She glances back and forth between Matt and the Gnawer galliard though, cocking her head at Sean's mention. "Should I even ask?"
Kaz regards Matt. "I didn't say he could say anything. That's important. What I /said/ was that almost no answer was the wrong answer. That don't mean that he don't gotta search for his own answer, follow it through, think about it, struggle with it, and justify it to us when he's done. Yeah, Yi," she says, finally taking her attention off Matt. "He's gotta decide who to save. From the homeless folks who were eatin' the Reds' food. There's more to it than that, but that's the heart of it. Makin' hard choices, when you least want to."
Matt nods to Kaz. "Well...I'll comfort him as a close friend then." before looking back to Yi. "Two steps in front of the wyrm. I'll start checking out the bawn closer to the farmhouse, see what I can see."
Yi gives Kaz a most pained look and doesn't say anything for a time. In the end, though, she nods in her reluctant support. To Matt she turns and shakes her head. "Keep your eye out, but if you see them don't fight them alone. You also did not mention where the attack was. Perhaps the fomori dogs are still in that area." And again back to Kaz, "Is the farmhouse still considered not safe?"
Kaz holds that look; she holds it until Yi nods, at which point she, too, nods. "I'm paranoid lass, y'know?" Kaz shrugs. "So basically, I think we zorched them Dancers that was connected to Rox--" She waves her right arm, which, given its position in her coat sleeve, is still healing-- "But we don't /know/ that. So for another week or two, I'd say so, yeah."
Matt looks to Yi, "They never told me where. I mean, it's hard in the many square miles to just say 'By the fallen tree.'." but he gives a nod, "I wouldn't attack them alone. I'm quick and small, and very very loud."
"Then there is one less Wyrmspawn in the world today, or more," Yi replies to Kaz with a slow nod and half-fulfilled sense of satisfaction. She moves a hand to pat Matt on the shoulder, and then turns to head off. "And I better be off to do my part. Good luck to the both of you, and Gaia watch your path."
Kaz mutters, "Yeah, you too," and considers Matt. "I should git, too. You doin' OK, though?"
Matt gives a nod to Kaz. "Yeah...I don't have time to not be OK." he glances over to Yi, then back to Kaz. "Hopefully on the New Moon, things will be a bit calmer."
Kaz says, fervently, "That'd be /real nice/." And then, she starts heading off in the direction she was going in the first place, starting to sing again after not too long.
